White Sox attendance *PLUMMETS* again, on Relocation Watch?

well the Chicago White Socks had a little double header yesterday and it went pretty much exactly how you would have thought they had the upper deck completely closed at Guaranteed Rate field the total attendance they said was around 10,000 the white socks I believe right now are around 3 and 15 on the year they could be worse than the Athletics I mean right now they are worse than the Athletics their attendance has been terrible and this is really the second year of this as we're deal dealing with the idea of the white sock trying to get money for a new stadium how much is it going to cost the area we're going to talk about all of that but obviously the white sock current situation I mean this it's not worse than the Athletics but there's just no future with this team it's not like they've got a great farm system they were terrible last year in a bad division they're terrible this year in a bad Division and it's not getting any better right now they're 26th overall in terms of attendance the Miami Marlin is another team I want to talk about they're at second last which is basically last cuz Oakland really doesn't count considering they're leaving and the fans have no incentive to go to the games at this point so the teams I want to talk about right now Chicago and Miami Miami later in the season you can see this was from last year mid June White Sox see largest attendance decrease in MLB that was because they had just a horrible season last year but it kind of got overshadowed as this article says you know by the Oakland Athletics what they were doing last year how bad their attendance was but yeah when it comes to the White Sox situation it's very procurious considering they're trying to move they're trying to go to a different location certainly the area in which they're trying to go is beautiful the question is will this Stadium be funded public vers private will the public be willing to put money and and potentially vote on something like an initiative to fund this Stadium almost a billion dollars to depending on how much the white socks ownership puts forth themselves the plan is for a stadium in the South Loops the 78 which is one of the bigger undeveloped areas of Chicago and apparently the Illinois sports facilities Authority will agree to pay a billion dollars for the project White Sox ownership also wants the city to improve 900 million for infrastructure and the lease at Guaranteed Rate field is iring in 2029 so normally with a situation like this there's two options it's either a major Stadium renovation to Guaranteed Rate field based on how old it is at this point I mean technically Guaranteed Rate field has already been renovated it received a big renovation about 14 years after it opened you know originally called new kamsky and then they changed the name to US Cellular I think US Cellular was the best name for it but either way you could either renovate it again and possibly install some exclusive Outfield seat seats do some different things or you could just try and build a new stadium and this is not surprising at all that they're trying to build a new stadium based on the bad location and also just judging from the renderings the amount of Acres they're trying to buy they are trying to do something completely different with this new ballpark development than what they have at guaranteed R field where there's basically nothing surrounding it the new development would have shops residential areas hotels restaurants the whole bang and that is just kind of the way of the world when it comes to these new stadium developments but the question is is the White Sox ownership going to play hard ball if they do I really think the White Sox could move now if the White Sox ownership does decide to fund most or all of this project somehow then obviously they're going to stay put Chicago is big enough you know in terms of population to have two teams but when it comes to the idea of there's already the Cubs in Chicago the Bears want to massive new stadium they're probably going to be asking for some form of tax money maybe around you know $500 million we're not sure right now it could be more than that it just depends because there's a lot of hazy you know commitments to them possibly paying $2 billion in private money for the Bears new stadium we just don't know how much the stadium is actually going to cost it's probably going to cost $3 billion so would that be another 500 million from the state and then more money from the city to get to the $3 billion we don't know so if the public ends up having to pay partially for the Bears Stadium there's not going to be a big appetite to support the Chicago White Socks and you're seeing their attendance right now is just terrible they're going to be horrible this year they're going to lose a 100 games again in a bad Division and they're going to have a terrible attendance probably bottom four or five attendance in all of MLB even while being in Chicago and how big and densely populated it is just based off of how bad the stadium is and the location as well I would say it's a bottom five Stadium according to pretty much everyone so white right now this issue for the white sock their team is terrible they don't have much of a future the ownership thought about remember back in the late 80s early 90s moving the team if they didn't get a new deal on a new ballpark and that's when new kamsky got built we could have a Deja Vu situation with the lease expiring in 2029 where would they move well they've already had meetings with Nashville people you know during the MLB winter meetings in Nashville Tennessee and that could be a situation although you would think Nashville would probably get a team before that but you also have to understand when it comes to Nashville they have to build a brand new stadium so it's not like oh next year Nashville could get a team this is not an Arizona Coyotes moving to you know Salt Lake City situation where they've already got the Delta Center Nashville is going to need a new stadium so if MLB does expand in 2025 or 2026 and they go with Nashville they're still going to have to build build a new stadium in Nashville to house an MLB team so I don't really think Nashville fits the timeline for the Chicago White Socks on a potential relocation it would probably be somewhere else but I mean like we're seeing with the NHL we're seeing the coyotes relocate and then they're probably going to expand right after it or at least a few years after it could that happen with the MLB but with the inverse where the expansion happens and then the white socks relocate it'll be interesting I mean we're talking about four or five years down the line maybe the white socks do build a great farm system they get lucky but right now this is just atrocious I mean they're closing their Upper Deck they've done that a few times in the past in early April you know I'm not going to go at them too much for this terrible attendance it really is you know this is a Wednesday mid April game you're 2 and4 and you're having a like a double header against the Royals or whatever obviously the attendance is going to be terrible but either way it's just not a good look for the team and and this is more so a trend based off of last year and how bad they were and how bad their attendance was as well as this year so the white socks their situation is very PEC curious and then you also have the city rejecting the new Revenue Source in the socks and the Bears Stadium talks and that's the idea maybe the bears go at it alone instead of having the white socks in it to do this kind of dual deal to where they both get public money that's not happening normally those things never happen and especially this day and age very unlikely to happen so when it comes to this white sock situation guys it is something to watch it is a beautiful location it's a nice outdoor ballpark there's a few things I would change about the renderings that they released and those are just the first initial renderings they're probably going to update it it is interesting to see the difference in strategy between the white socks and the Bears the Bears have been talking about getting a new stadium for years now and we do not still to this day do not have a concrete rendering on a potential Bears new stadium the white sock came out a complete left field I was doing a video talking about them possibly moving to Nashville in January 3 Days Later these renderings come out well these renderings originally got I think leaked and then it was confirmed that these were the renderings and then talking about another team that has horrible attendance problems the Miami Marlins and I've done several videos on the Marlins a very interesting situation where they just built their Stadium over a decade ago I do have to give the Marlins a shout out they've had a lot of games with the roof open they've been very aggressive about that when the roof is open at Marlin's well it's not called marlin Park anymore lone Depot Park it does create some pretty obnoxious shadows and it's kind of weird because like the camera it's hard for the camera to focus you know what I mean where when when the camera is in the shade and then it zooms out and it's in the sun it's it's hard for it to focus so that's kind of annoying but lone Depot park looks so much better with the sun shining in with all of the natural light it's not even close and I do like l depa park as a top 15 MLB stadium I've seen people R it rank it outside of the top 25 which is just crazy to me it's got a great exterior it's a futuristic design it's just unfortunate that their attendance continues to be terrible and the Marlins I I don't know how this situation gets solved I I really wish I did I mean maybe they get new ownership and and they raise the payroll and the team starts winning and they have Sluggers I think lone Depot Park might have been doomed from the start when you look at it and just how picture friendly it was it's going to be like a boring is Stadium anyways they just built it so large like left center field even the left field wall you know in front of the Clevelander it's a tall wall you know it's just the the entire Outfield and I know they moved the fences in a little bit to me it still plays ridiculously p friendly and then the other thing and I didn't even know this apparently the reason for the two major changes to Lone Depot Park the sculpture coming down and the fish tank behind Home Plant coming down I think it was Derek Jeter so and to be honest Derek Jeter did make a good trade getting rid of JN Carlos ston because JN Carlos ston has a horrible contract now and and they signed him like a nine-year extension back in like 2016 2017 but apparently Derek Jeter didn't like the sculpture he didn't like some of the things with the stadium so we had him removed and I think the sculpture I mean they did do a pretty good job with that bar area I'm not going to lie but behind home plate that fish tank how are you removing that that there were rumors that oh it was a safety hazard for the fish and things like that but if it's bulletproof glass how would a baseball be able to pen or you know what maybe it actually broke no there's no way it broke I would have I would have remembered that uh it might have like cracked or something but it's unfortunate why not just put up stronger glass that is one of the most amazing things when it comes to the uniqueness of an MLB stadium the Miami Marlins the fish and you have a fish tank right behind own plate that you can see on TV as the game is going on it's an ingenious idea how do you remove something like that but the Marlins themselves I mean the only way the situation gets fixed because the demand is so low for baseball in the State of Florida and they can't move because the ballpark is only 11 12 years old the only thing you can do is just maybe get a new owner that spends a ridiculous amount of money and signs an All-Star team and obviously the attendance would go up if the if the Marlins won 100 games they would be I mean averaging at least 20K it's still not great but at least it's something but like that's the only way the situation can be solved is if the Marlins become a Powerhouse honestly because it's not like the white sock where oh they could move they really can't they're stuck there because of how new the stadium is and you know maybe in the 2030s 2040s they move but either way right now the white socks and the Marlins two extremely different situations in terms of their stadiums but they're both similar in the sense that their attendance right now is horrible and their teams are horrible I mean you want to talk about the white socks and their record the Marlins were like 0 and N to start the season so neither of these teams are any good either way that's going to do it for this video make sure you follow me on X link to that's always in the description from
