Melbourne storm 2024

I don't know how to start this video so I'm just going to start over the last few days specifically on the 13th of February we had a what is called a micro blast so essentially what happened was we had a storm the storm started in the western suburbs and came over to the Southeast suburbs where I live and with the Southeast suburbs we had approximately 40 minutes and I'm being generous with saying 40 minutes of storm now this storm was strong enough to derot trees move Caravans and create a complete disturbance and disharmony between the common people of Melbourne so what has ended up happening is all of these trees and all of this wind has created damage we lost power stations and what ended up happening was a lot of people ended up having their houses without electricity a lot of people ended up having their houses without any lighting any warmth any food so people's food went rotten and we had no cell phone signal no internet from what I've been told when this happened at my workplace it was my day off and I have been informed that people had to use torches to cut hair think about that that's almost a dystopian kind of situation that the common person in mbin had to be part of and I feel like it we have had so much tragedy over the last few years in Victoria as a whole the western suburbs has bush fires the Eastern suburbs has this whole emergency situation with a storm that lasted 40 minutes and created a mass of Destruction I I'm very confused about how this can happen I don't believe it's anybody fault this would be considered an act of God in legal terms but I feel like that a lot of people are just really really sad right now we've already had issues with housing we've got issues with food we've got issues with being able to pay for our lives and everything is just stacking up upon itself and I just really feel really sad for everybody and I hope everybody's okay if we do happen to have more storms or anything like that I suggest that you go check out your local libraries because people had power Banks um that was the recommendation for people anyway I just wanted to put this little quick I guess discussion out there how are you guys doing I know a lot of you guys who watch me are from Victoria and from Australia so I hope you guys are doing well I hope that you haven't suffered too much hardship as far as I know and I hope to God that I'm not wrong there's only been one casualty so please just stay safe um if you are any of my old friends in cocka to from when I grew up as a child hey Elanor and brandan and Emily and Kate um and Matt I guess if any of you guys are still in coku without power my heart goes out for you Emerald gembrook I just sincerely hope that things get sorted these people are without power for weeks allegedly so I just hope it get sorted out soon never in my life have I driven through a place that was so scary and I figured that I would tell you guys as a bit of light-heartedness um about how I discovered the storm so I didn't know it happened I just thought we had a quick little storm and I was in my room I didn't lose much power we had like a tiny little a little bit of power loss but then it came back instantly so I just thought oh it's just you know Melbourne normal power outage um where I live is on an industrial grid so we get a lot of we we get the benefits of like Factory powers and stuff like that but that's a whole another thing um so the next day I go outside I look at my bus stop and I'm like what the hell why are people dumping trees here people dumped trees and they they dump rubbish at places like washing machines and all that kind of stuff I was just like why are they dumping trees and then I got on my bus my bus was 15 minutes late mind you so I was a little bit miffed but I was just like whatever it is what it is I'm still going to make my next bus so it's fine so I got on my bus uh my bus took me to where I needed to go and then as while I was on the second bus my second bus cuz I take multiple pieces of public transport um to get to where I work it takes me about 2 hours to get there but where when I was on my second bus I went through a town called scorby and scorby like I I don't even know how to explain it I was just sitting on the bus and I was getting a bit te like not teary but like more in shock it was surreal you could see that trees were uprooted in some parts you could see that trees had collapsed you could see that like the roads weren't clear and it really looked like a dystopian situation and I couldn't be mad at the bus driver anymore not that I would have ever said it to him that I was mad but I I could not be mad at them I was like holy Moses this this is something else this is just catastrophic and I in my entire almost 34 years of life I've never seen a storm like this so after that happened I get to I get to work and I hear time after time again talking to clients about how they've lost all of their food they've lost all of their like their powers lost some of them had tree damage on their properties somebody had a situation with their car and I was just like wow this is something else and then after that happened after that happened I typically get picked up by my mother at night because I don't drive I I do pay her um it's a it's a deal that we have so she can get some extra cash and it saves me from doing a couple of our trips so I was getting picked up by my mom and we were driving down the road and the road was dark there were no street lights and mind you earlier in that day there were no street lights IA no power lights um they had police escorting people on Big intersections but in terms of in terms of like the nighttime there were there were like people in sces and firemen outfits walking around the streets with torches while there were no power lights and I don't know like how to explain the feeling but it just it was a feeling of being out of place like this isn't how the world normally is and I just think that it's really really like it's just a really sad situation So for anybody who's lost anything out there my heart goes out to you I hope that you guys are doing okay um again libraries are doing power Banks if you still have no power not everybody has power but libraries are doing that um generators people some people are sharing generators which is really sweet you can also go out and get things like weers um which is like a barbecue sort of situation it's just really crazy the amount of food wastage that's happened as well is really disheartening anyway I guess I'll leave it that because this is already over 10 minutes I am probably not going to edit this clip down I might add some footage to it but I figured that it's worth like hearing you all and seeing how you guys are going anyway I'm sorry this isn't a more positive video I just figured like well like a lot of us are Australian um a lot of us are in Victoria and I just really hope that you guys are feeling okay
