Week 2 Preview: Baylor/Utah, Iowa State/IOWA

[Music] week one is in the books now we're off to week two Avery Baylor versus Utah this is one of my favorite matchups of week to I feel like this game is gonna come down to defense it's going to be Baylor's offense how they going to respond they're looking for Revenge at the Los last year at Utah at home and then you have Utah's defense and Utah's defense tends to be all over the place and put pressure in all angles so what do you think about this game I think this is a great matchup and an early Big 12 uh conference matchup as well and Baylor needs to strike early uh dayquan Finn needs to be in his element in order to shake up Utah Utah has always had a very good defense as well as a very good offensive line for their quarterback so Cameron Rising is going to need to do his best to stay protected let his o line do their job and make the necessary passes and changes make very few mistakes in order to stay on top they are playing this game in Salt Lake City so I give a slight Edge to Utah ESPN has Utah at at a 78% chance of winning the over under is 545 I see this being a very back and forth game if Baylor can stay in it I see them keeping in tune with Utah but I'm going to give this to Utah so Utah can get the edge in the Big 12 and I'm going to go with Utah 30 Baylor 22 respectable I have Utah 27 and Baylor 21 um Utah they were picked they're picked as 14 points favorite I don't think I'm I'm not gonna go that far that's why I'm keeping it at least a six point game victory for Utah and Utah is 7951 and one all time in season openers so and they have 10 straight winning seasons dating back to 2014 so this team has always been good and this season they're trying to take it up a notch they're well coached and you know let's see but I'm looking forward to this match up now um Iowa State versus Iowa the Hawkeyes they have won seven of the last eight and eight of the last 10 meetings over Iowa State dating back to 2013 Iowa is ranked number 25 in preseason AP so what do you think of Iowa um this season especially in this game I think we mentioned this before we love when uh let's say you're non-traditional uh College schools for football now start to exceed or we see these really great schools in college basketball now see a very good success across the division 1A and when you mention Iowa State and Iowa they both have very good basketball teams we usually talk about them in March now we're talking about them in fall and both teams also like to play spoiler now granted they're playing each other this is more of a matchup that I would like to see at the end of the season especially when you see how both teams played the season them playing very early on again conference play they want to cement themselves as being part of the conversation for that playoff picture later in the year Iowa has done very well Cade mamera three touchdowns already he's doing very well he needs to stay focus he needs to not make a lot of mistakes Roco Beck on the other hand he has two two touchdowns 267 yards very respectable for the Cyclones same thing need to not make mistakes I look to see that Iowa State Defense to take some chances to Rattle Cade MCA uh and if that's the case if Kade mamera uh makes a mistake I see Iowa State capitalizing on that and just like the Baylor Utah uh same thing the home team has a uh 70% chance of winning I'm still going to go with Iowa on this but I'm going to have this being a close game I want this game to be so close it'll be a nailbiter you know on Saturday afternoon so I'm GNA go with Iowa like a a a very slim Iowa win but I want to have it as Iowa 28 Iowa State 26 six I have Iowa 34 and Iowa State 24 34 to 24 um for this game Iowa I mean this offense looks good I mean we take into consideration you have an offensive coordinator Tim Lester who has really been a big factor for this Iowa hawkey's team's offense and they've been performing well under his leadership what do you think of um their offensive coordinator and you know what he brings to the table I love that you mentioned him because over the past few years Iowa has been uh the Iowa uh Hawkeyes have been a talk of having a very explosive offense usually we we hear that talk in Oregon or Alabama or Georgia so the talk of Iowa being that explosive team so if you play Iowa just like I said usually Iowa Iowa State like to play spoiler but what you don't want to do is you have Iowa on the schedule and then you take them for granted and then all of a sudden you have just been bamboozled and watching Kade mcam just run all over you because of that very good offensive leadership that he has been given and Kade mcam being a senior I think he wants to make a statement and have that uh leaning Edge possibly Heisman talk you know not to not to uh uh put any uh bad luck on him but I see Iowa to be making a statement and doing that with the offensive leadership that they've had over the past few years has definitely made them the talk of big 10
