Chris Christie HEATED DEBATE Live on 'The View' about Trump - Harris | The View (9/11/2024)

the US presidential election between Donald Trump and Camala Harris is getting tense as the final day approaches the most recent debate between the two candidates took place on the evening of September 10 hosted by absy news at the national Constitution Center in Philadelphia and may be the only one between vice president Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump in this situation former Governor Chris Christie had a debate on The View on this issue let's analyze the specific details of the confrontation between the two candidates the opening was an introduction by whoopy Goldberg host of The View she posed a question to Chris Christie a contributor to absy news and former governor of New Jersey did you see last night well first you know you saw someone and I think Sunny said this earlier you saw someone who's exquisitly well prepared and somebody who was not and and you know these things are hard yeah you you go out there you know there's 70 80 million people watching you um and you go out in the stage and you are by yourself in every way that you can be no staff no family no conversation no notes no notes no phones nothing and so if you're not well prepared um things can go off the rails pretty quick now when you add to it that um he's just a really angry guy yeah so you know I got asked before the the debate which Donald Trump was going to show up and I said well in the beginning the C Donald Trump will show up because he knows that's what he's supposed to to be in order to do well I said but this is not a solo act this is an interactive thing and as soon as either one of the questioners or the vice president would get him riled up he'll go he go Chris Christie highlights the significant difference in preparation between Donald Trump and Camala Harris during their debate he describes Trump as often unprepared struggling with focus and retention of information which negatively impacts his performance christe attributes this to Trump's lack of attention span and reluctance to engage in thorough preparation in contrast Harris is portrayed as confident and well prepared with her bold gesture of reaching out to shake Trump's hand setting the tone for the debate Christy points out that this display of confidence further emphasized Harris Readiness and composure on stage in response to Chris Christie's comments joyar quickly asked him the opposite question you say he is not capable of preparing so how can you prepare him he has no attention span and he's inable unable to retain information he's not saying he's capable of was how do you prepare well no look you can prepare even because I did it with him in 16 even with someone with his limited was years older he's had a decline as my Aunt Julie would say he took a drop he took a drop yeah well and also yeah and he look he you can do that but you you he has to want to do it yeah and believe me he doesn't want to do it he doesn't like working hard what does he want to do he just wants to go out there and be him yeah we saw Chris Christie reminisced about his experience preparing Donald Trump for the 2016 debates admitting that despite Trump's limitations it was still possible to prepare him at the time according to Christie the main challenge was that Trump had to want to prepare but he simply didn't want to Christy said that Trump didn't like to work hard and instead preferred to go on stage and be himself which was evident in his debate performance one of the boldest moves which we were just talking about is is the vice president came on that stage she reached for his hand and she was almost behind his Podium because they were clearly not going to meet in the middle do you think that set the tone for the night because I thought that was such an amazing move thre him off look yeah if she threw him off then he's even stupider than some people think that was I mean look she did she did well last night but that was a layup okay you go and you shake someone's hand but that's how low the bar has been brought down well but that's right but but she doesn't get credit for getting over a bar that's this High my point put the bar down there no no that's good and good for her and it's smart middle why did one of the standout moments from the debate was when vice president Camala Harris boldly walked onto the stage and reached for Donald Trump's hand nearly standing behind his Podium since they were not going to meet in the middle this simple yet powerful gesture set a confident tone for the night as it demonstrated Harris's willingness to assert herself and engage even when Trump appeared unwilling the move was widely seen as a smart and assertive way to establish her presence and Authority on stage further highlighting the contrast between the two candidates Chris Christie commented on how Donald Trump seemed to be easily fooled by vice president Kamala Harris's simple handshake if this small gesture confused trump it reflected poorly on him showing that he was even more clueless than people thought but while acknowledging that Harris performed well christe asserted that the handshake was a basic move and how low the bar for success in the debate was set while Harris shouldn't get extra points for something so simple it was still a smart and effective move given the circumstances he met her in the middle and because he is so much larger than she is she's my height I'm about 5'6 he's got to be about 6'2 and she looked taller than he looked but that's well certainly she was taller than him by going and by going and greeting him and and it was a display of confidence on her part as well and and he and the other thing that added to it last night was that I thought was one of the most disturbing parts of the whole thing was he wouldn't look at her right and so you know even when he was talking about her he kept looking straight ahead when she was talking about about him he wouldn't look at her and and he didn't do that because he's so uncomfortable yeah he was woman well I think I look I think it's debating this woman now I could tell you that when I Was preparing him in 2016 he had enormous respect for Hillary Clinton he used to say all the time she's really smart she's really tough she's really good he doesn't think this about vice president Harris wrongly but he doesn't think that displayed he displayed his of Trump's refusal to even look at Harris during their interactions when speaking about her he kept his gaze Straight Ahead avoiding eye contact this lack of Engagement seemed to reflect his discomfort in debating a woman in contrast during his 2016 debates Trump expressed respect for Hillary Clinton acknowledging her intelligence and toughness unfortunately Trump does not appear to hold vice president Harris in the same regard and this was evident in his dismissive behavior during the debate Joy bear then questioned Chris Christie When Donald Trump asked Harris if she had done anything in the past four years now we all know the one thing that uh you have to do to get under Donald's skin is is talk about size and especially crowd sizes and Hillary Clinton did say that he could be baited um the vice president she just went right there take take a look at this I'm going to actually do something really unusual and I'm going to invite you to attend one of Donald Trump's rallies because it's a really interesting thing to watch you will see during the course of his rallies he talks about fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter he will talk about windmills cause cancer and what you will also notice is that people start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom now it's well known that one way to easily provoke Donald Trump is to bring up size especially crowd sizes something Hillary Clinton famously noted during her 2016 campaign Trump's sensitivity to this issue has been highlighted repeatedly and during the debate vice president Kamala Harris took advantage of this weakness by directly addressing it by bringing attention to Trump's obsession with crowd size she effectively baited him reinforcing the notion that he can be easily unsettled by such remark this tactic not only threw Trump off balance but also emphasized his vulnerability to personal Jabs a strategy that Hillary Clinton had also successfully identified I wanted to ask you about was um there were some non-answers on both sides but one that was pretty glaring to me was when he was directly asked in the war between Ukraine and Russia do you want Ukraine to Prevail who do you want to win and he didn't answer it what did you interpret that to mean that means he did yeah like you know when you don't answer a question that's really direct that means you've answered it yeah right so what that means is he doesn't care if Ukraine wins or not and his plan is to let Russia take over Ukraine um well he says I want the war to end that means everything's going to get pulled back out that's right and he leave the ukrainians their own devices so you know and and and look I would say this about about the vice president too if there is a second debate she she could do some things to help herself like look the American people are forgiving people and they're understanding people so there were some mistakes made in the Biden Administration she should admit to them and say she's going to do better so like the out in Afghanistan that was flubbed it was blown right he gave the date he he gave the yeah but but but I'm saying chy what I'm saying is that she can finally Chris Christie brought up a very important moment when Trump refused to clarify whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war against Russia this is a sign that Trump does not care about the fate of Ukraine and would be willing to abandon Ukraine to Russia in exchange for ending the war while criticizing Trump Chris acknowledged Harris's strong debate performance he also offered suggestions for improvement encouraging her to acknowledge past mistakes such as her handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan to gain credibility and connect with voters looking for Unity and connect with voters looking for Unity leadership despite being a republican Christie made it clear that he would not vote for Trump alluding to his growing disillusionment with Trump's leadership style and his unfitness for the presidency what about you who would you vote for if you were an American citizen let us know your choice in the comment section
