Katy Perry Responds to Dr Luke Album Backlash

Katie Perry recently addressed the backlash she faced for working with producer Dr Luke on her latest album despite his legal battle with Kesha on the call her daddy podcast Perry discussed collaborating with Dr Luke who has been in a long-standing lawsuit with Kesha over allegations of drugging and sexual assault Kesha sought to break free from her recording contract while Dr Luke denied the accusations and filed for defamation the case was settled last June shortly before going to trial acknowledging the controversy Perry explained I understand that it sparked conversations he was one of many collaborators I worked with but the songs reflect my personal Journey Perry has previously worked with Dr Luke on hits like I kissed a girl California Girls and Teenage Dream for her new album songs such as Woman's World and lifetimes were co-written and produced by Dr Luke speaking on the inspiration behind Woman's World Perry emphasized her sense of empowerment as a mother saying I feel grounded in my role as a woman creating life and that's where these songs come from the music video for Woman's World faced criticism for its outdated approach to feminist themes with Perry responding in a behind the-scenes clip explaining the playful and exaggerated nature of the video we just having fun with it Perry said it's very slapstick over the top and on the nose symbolizing a reset for me and my perception of femininity after this we enter A Whole New World
