20 past the hour here a former high-ranking a to two New York Governors accused of being a Chinese spy prosecutors say Linda's son raped in millions of dollars from the Chinese government which funded a life of luxury and influence for her and her husband news nation's Alicia nees is here to explain more Alicia what more can you tell us well good morning uh we're actually standing in front of the courthouse where this former top a was indicted yesterday and prosecutors say she Rose to the ranks here in New York state in a government capacity and was also working for the Chinese government breaking in millions of dollars to further their interest here in the United States court documents say that son and her husband Linda son that is also charged in the case owned a mansion in New York worth $3.6 million a condo in Hawaii worth around $2 million had several luxury Vehicles including a 2024 Ferrari and allegedly all that was paid by kickbacks Chinese government prosecutors even say a chef for the Chinese officials or a Chinese official prepared special deliveries of salted duck for her family there were photos in this indictment that showed or attempted to show a son at various communist Chinese party events prosecutor say this son essentially used her position to influence New York's work with Taiwanese government officials also kept Chinese officials updated on how the state was handling the Corona virus pandemic during that period none of the state officials who work with are under any investigation or accused of any wrongdoing here in fact Governor Cathy hok's office actually fired some in 2023 after discovering evidence of misconduct and reported son uh to authorities she has been very Cooperative in this investigation we're told son and her husband of course have pled not guilty they didn't say anything when they left court here yesterday but their lawyers are calling these allegations quote perplexing and overly inflammatory one thing we should also not
