good morning dog Nation I'm Cody Chaffin in for Brandon Adams today and as you frequent viewers and listeners of this program know Brandon's got a lot going on off the field right now not bad just busy so while he gets all of that settled down we'll send him some good VI vies but Georgia football rolls on and the countdown to Clemson continues so as we roll on here on dog Nation daily without Brandon Adams we got a huge day as it's a rare occurrence for me to be filling in for Brandon it's also a rare occurrence we're going to get down at the butmir building in Athens today as we will hear from georg's offensive coordinator Mike Bobo probably for the only time all season next time we're going to hear from him will be in December so something very special today so we're going to bring on Connor Riley later in the show to hear what we want to learn from Mike Bobo today huge day going on and we will roll on here on dog Nation daily it is the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldog fans and it's brought to you today by Maryweather and Tharp today's episode of dog Nation daily is brought to you by Maryweather and Tharp your source for Georgia divorce find them online at Georgia divorce team.com presented by dog.com this is dognation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans here's your host Brandon Adams again Cody chaffin's pinch hitting for Brandon Adams this morning and it's one of those things you can't really do alone so you got to have somebody do it with you and that's why we have dog Nation Insider Connor Riley joining me this morning Connor good morning it's a busy day for you right the place I I got told I was going to be pitch hitting for BA last night now I find up getting an even bigger call up I'm not just coming out of the bullpen we're starting today uh Team Coco here taking in on uh dog Nation da ready to talk some Georgia football with everyone yeah a couple of former High School offensive linemen who couldn't quite hack it at the second level but we appreciate you being on here Conor I know we like we talked about we're gonna hear from Mike Bobo today and one of the things we wanted to dive into is what we want to learn from Mike Bobo this only time we get to hear it's so rare other programs will trout out their offens coordinator every week we never get to hear from Mike Boba yeah the next time we see uh Mike Bobo it'll be around Christmas time and so uh it's a chance to ask I think point questions about the offense and look Mike Bobo not exactly the most popular uh Georgia coaching figure over the years but this is an offense that average 40 points a game a season ago you bring back Carson Beck you bring back aevia weapons obviously there are questions you know how do you replace Brock bars how do you replace lad mcon but we saw Georgia's offense a season ago without those guys for good chunks of the season and so I'm interested year two for Mike Bobo as a play caller year two for Carson Beck as a starting quarterback how do those two really match and what do Bobo Envision their par their partnership blossoming into this year yeah and it's one of those things the last time we got to talk to Mike Bo we we had just found out that Carson Beck was going to be coming back for one more season in Athens and it was you Connor who asked Mike Bobo what he expects to see out of Carson Beck in year two let's take a listen more the more experience he gets the better uh obviously this will be his 14th start uh you know it was very very accurate completing balls I think we're going work on you know down the field throws a little bit more and that's not just him hitting guys in stride or in Target but that's us finding ways to be creative and and push the ball a little bit more downfield and have a higher success rate throwing the ball down field so that's the first thing as this offense can get better and there's room to get better surely from last season although you know you look at all the things that Carson Beck did so well the wins above average he's the highest of any returning quarterback this year early passing Downs he had the highest grade of any gu anybody coming back eligible for this 2025 draft next year so he did a lot of things right one of the things we never saw quite click was hitting the Deep ball yeah you know Carson I think the strength of his game is attacking the middle of the field at house when you have guys like Brock bars L Maki to do that but in that sort of 10 to 20 yard range those intermediate throws that's where he really excels we didn't see Georgia do it a whole lot last year I think part of it is Personnel related in terms of what they have uh on the outside certainly a season ago I know they feel better now about their wide receiver room than they did last year certainly in the SEC Championship game when I think Alabama really found a way to frustrate and limit that Georgia offense there and so it's going to be on Carson to one show that he can consistently win with his deep ball it's something that there is a question mark there with Scouts that exists but also to show that development show that he's continuing to get better that he has continued to work on it Carson did so much so well early in his time at the University of Georgia in his first season as a starter and yet he still got room to get better as you heard Mike Bobo talk about there you know going into his second season as a starter look we all know what happened with Stetson Bennett and his career at the University of Georgia but in coming back for that second full season as the guy in that 2022 season I thought you saw a markedly more confident quarterback and thus a much better quarterback for the Bulldogs and I think again Carson's an extremely confident individual but I wouldn't be surprised if you see something similar and with guys that speed on the outside saying Aran Smith saying Anthony Evans who I think are going to be more Incorporated in the offense this year I think they've got a chance to hit on a few more of those deep balls and that's only going to further stretch defenses that Georgia routinely torched a season ago I think one of those keys for Aran Smith because we think deep ball we think Aran Smith and that makes sense when he's got the track speed but I think one of the things he's got to develop is maybe some different routes right not just a fly route Don't just run a nine because the defense knows when he's out there all right he's he's the Deep threat he can't do anything else if he can start proving he can do other things that's going to open up that part of his game for him and I think I'd like to see some other options you know it can't just be all right it's 11 go deep you got to find some other guys you mentioned Anthony Evans who are some other London humph I know has a lot of speed just a freshman but maybe he could be that nine route guy right you think back to the Alabama game last year even with Brock Bowers and llad maconi clearly injured those guys were still Carson's top two wide receivers and I think at that point in the year look Alabama you give them credit they did a great job scheming up in that game but Georgia's got to develop more weapons outside of those primary guys for Georgia they have I think a deep cache of weapons this year not just at the wide receiver position tight end running back as well I I think you're going to see those guys get involved there but I I think with the wide receiver position in particular it's a position that today we're going to hear Mike Bobo talk about a bit and you know Dylan Bell what does he look like as he expands his role and I think really focuses on being being a wide receiver for really the first time in his career where he can be an impact player at that position Dominic love it year two for him in this Georgia system I think he's going to do a lot of the things that lad did for you as a receiver a season ago and I think that's only going to further unlock his game and then tight ends we are going to get to hear from tight ends coach Todd Harley but no Brock Bowers but a lot of people really like Oscar Delp you bring in Benjamin urisk via the transfer portal and I I will say here don't forget about LW and lucky LW and lucky was a guy that was setting the world on fire when he first arrived at Georgia was having a really good fall Camp a season ago picks up an ankle injury and that really limited what he was able to do and as we've seen time and time again when you pick up injuries in Camp it's hard to overcome those Georgia still feels very confident about the skill players that they have around Carson and how these guys a develop through camp but more importantly B stay healthy throughout Camp I think is going to have a big impact in terms of who are those guys that develop and add moves and add extra routes and extra ingredients to their games over the course of the season I love that from you and we'll talk a lot more about tight ends coming up later in this show but one of the other things as you kind of get into Year to you want to you develop layers of your offense right it wasn't just about learning all right all right we're going to do this a little different than monin we're going to do this you know now he can kind of build on what he did last year and I thought it was really interesting earlier this week we got to hear from Travaris Robinson we talked about the Alabama game we'll talk more about that too in just a moment but what he had to say about Mike Bobo and how he's seen Mike Bobo's offense change kind of tells me what they could do even more of this year take a listen to t- coach Bobo is the most competitive dude I know all right and no matter what we doing whether it's golf whether it's cards it doesn't matter um so he's always been that way um but from a schematic standpoint um you look at all the different things that he does here we didn't have all those motions we had some of the you know the fast huddle huddle breaks different things like that but we didn't have all these speed motions and all these different things that we got so it's a lot of moving parts and it's very important to do that on offense in today's football because of all the different things that a defense is trying to do to you so the key to the drill when you're on offense is trying to make the defense talk trying to get them to make a mistakes well when the easiest way to do that is by going fast and motioning and we we do that better than anybody the country my couple takeaways from that is first hearing him a we you talked about how Mike Bobo historically is not always a fan favorite it's clear to see Mike Bobo has changed his offense over the years and that's really good to hear the second part is the window dress that t Rob talks about he says it makes it so hard on a defense when you got so much going on all over the place that you're really not sure what the offense wants to do and as Carson Beck gets into year two I feel like he can play with that even more it's not just one thing he's got two or three options at his disposal and quarterbacks will tell you it's kind of like being able to find the answers to the test because all that motion and all that St what that does is it makes the defense have to show their hand are they in man coverage are they in zone coverage who's going to come on a blitz cuz got to answer questions when you send guys out in motion I would love to see that get a little deeper this year and maybe the looks can be a little more exotic because you've got a quarterback and a coordinator in year two together right and Mike Bobo even in his first stint as the offensive coordinator at Georgia I think always tailored his offenses to the Personnel that he had you think of those great running backs they had in 2014 when Todd Gurley Nick chub Keith Marshall and Sony Michelle were all on the roster they were a dominant running team and a great offense off they're still the highest scoring offense in Georgia regular season history but the year before when they had Aaron Murray and they had a number of receivers they built the offense around Aaron Murray and what he was able to do there and so with Bobo year two you saw the window dressing a season ago I think that's something they carry over from Todd monin I think that's something that they see who has a ton of success at the NFL level and when you're able to incorporate great athletes like Georgia has there it only gives you a further advantage in trying to get you know what the defense is trying to show you and get what the defense is trying to do there and so in year two with Mike Bobo look we know that Carson back is the centerpiece of this offense he's going to be asked I think to carry this offense in a way that a quarterback really hasn't for Kirby Smart in his time here at Georgia and I think Bobo knows that he for this offense to be the best version of itself one he has to get the most out of Carson backck but also he's got to find a way to somehow also take things off of Carson's plate in terms of what he's going to be asked to do because so much of it is going to be on the shoulders and arm of Carson Beck I'm really interested in seeing what he has to say about this Georgia running back room Trevor etan big transfer portal Edition Nate Frasier though he is currently in a black non-c cont Jersey impressing a lot of people early and one of the things in seeing these practices and then hearing what Kirby Smart had to say about the running back room and chatting to some sources off the field this running back room is in I think a lot better position than maybe people anticipated it being four new guys in there you have to replace Kendall Milton have to replace deun Edwards but if this group is able to stay healthy always a big if when you play a position like that running back room I think Mike bu was going to be able to incorporate those guys and find schemes and find plays that allow those guys to make big plays he found a way to make it work for Kendall Milton last year him having his best year as a Georgia Bulldog when he was on the field and so for as much as we're going to sit here and talk about how Carson Beck is the center piece of this offense and he absolutely is I'm also interested in seeing how boo goes about getting the most out of the guys around Carson backck because that's just as important to the success of this offense as Carson Beck's ability and growth yeah I can't wait to see if he kind of goes back a little more to his core and Kirby's core just run the football because you didn't have the horses in the stable last year you have a lot more options especially at running back this year so that's the first thing we hope to learn what kind of develops in year two for Carson Beck and Mike Bobo another thing I want to hear from Mike Bobo the last game Georgia played they scored 63 that's not that's not relevant but the B L to me kind of still sticks in my crawl Georgia offense never got going that day what was the deal with that and now we saw Travaris Robinson you've got no better self scout out there than having the guy who game planned against you come to your team now and kind of share some things and he was asked about that this week he said he didn't really share anything with us because he's not going to say hey I could tell on third down they were always going to do this or whatever but you know that's one of those things that's going to help a lot and I I asked Mike Bobo about the Alabama game and how that kind of sticks in his crawl this is also Al from the Orange Bowl last season you know we've been good on third down all year and and ironically I think you know that game you know we had some third and shorts that we didn't convert in the game that ultimately didn't be able to continue drives and allow us to have more plays but you know selling for three field goals in the red zone and turning the ball over and not being able to be explosive I felt like we couldn't couldn't get into Rhythm for whatever reason uh after the first drive and you know one you got to give those guys a lot of credit they're a good defensive football team uh but but you know that happens uh and you know unfortunately you know we didn't play our best they played better than us and that happens in football all right so I'll give him this you can't fumble the ball on on your own 17 yard line that that that from the Alabama game we know but you also can't go one of six in the second half on third down so my other thing I want to learn from Mike but what did he take away from that and what has he learned from t- Rob that he can use moving forward into this season right and buo I think took a lot of criticism in that game and the way that Georgia's offense played but you know what happened Cody after that first drive in that game amarius Mims went out with an injury and did not return to play in that game there's been a good amount of controversy around that with what Nick Sabin said during the NFL draft and I think that Georgia offensive line that day when Mims went out that changed the way that Georgia wanted to play they did some things that I don't think they had done all season uh they put Micah Morris in at guard first over Dylan Fairchild I found that to be interesting in terms of why that selection was made when we had seen Dylan Fairchild play All Season at as sort of that first offensive guard Off the Bench when Mims went down the first time during the season and so I I think going into this year that offensive line I'm interested in what Mike Bobo has to say about that because that's absolutely a strength of this team when you have Tate Ratt Lage and you have Dylan Fairchild back Michael Morris Ernest Green who I think can be one of the best left tackles in all of college football Xavier trust back for a sixth year and you've also got a new center in Jared Wilson who was off working to the side dealing with a little bit of an injury and Center is Maybe the one position on this offensive line where they're not as deep as I think they want to be they're trying to teach Tate ratl how to snap and that's not an easy proposition they have drew Bobo there as well I'm GNA be really interested today in sort of seeing what Mike Bobo says about this Georgia offensive line because I think for me that's the biggest reason why the Georgia offense struggled so mightily in that game against Alabama they had a Marius Mims for that first drive they scripted a great Drive scored right away everything was looking great Mims goes down and I think they fundamentally changed the way that they were playing I thought they were a little bit more conservative in terms of the things that they were doing and then as you point out Cody they really struggled on third down but even more specifically third and shorts where they couldn't get third and one third and two for whatever reason and so I think this offensive line which has largely been a strength throughout Kirby Smart's tenure here no matter who the offensive line coach is Sam Pitman Matt Luke or Stacy SOS if this offensive line is going to be the best part of this team which I think it certainly can be this season I think that's going to open things up for this offense and prevent a situation like we saw with Alabama a season ago I think because of those third and short struggles I think Mike Bobo and maybe he didn't have the confidence in his offensive line because am Marius Mims goes out he tried to get in his bag a little too much I thought tried to get too fancy instead of just running the ball and he you know he says that you know third and one's not easy and it's not and you're playing Alabama and I get it but sometimes let's give it a shot let's give Kendall Milton the guy who's really on fire at that point in the season let's give him a shot to get that one yard but I think maybe he wasn't as confident in his offensive line as he could have been and I think that may have played a part in it so if he can get that offensive line going if he gets the running back room going like he wants to I do kind of Wonder do you think we go back to a little more of that old school Mike Bobo we're going to line it up on first down and run the ball instead of this maybe a short pass which Kirby will call an extension of the Run game yeah I think it's going to be interesting look we know Todd monin uh I think was much more of a past first uh offensive coordinator and play caller and that's even with you think of that 20121 team zamir white and James Cook are going to be starting NFL running backs this season and even that year you know it felt like a times Georgia wasn't fully committed to running the ball I think in the way that we had seen certainly those Mike Bobo teams when Gurley and chub were around but even those early Kirby sore teams when Jim Cheney was the offensive coordinator so I'm gonna be interested as Mike Bobo I think puts more of his fingerprints on this offense like we know I I think at this point in time it's a Kirby Smart offense in terms of what to expect in terms of the things that they want to do in terms of how they want to go out and execute as we get further and further away from Todd monin and we spend more and more time with Mike Bobo as the play caller how does this offense evolve and as you point out Cody do we see this more get back to some of the wide Zone stuff that Mike Bobo was running early in his time in his first tenure here at Georgia sort of in a way I think resemble what you're seeing at the NFL level with say Shawn McVey offense and a way a Kyle Shanahan offense there and if we see that as opposed to maybe what Todd monin had ran here in his time at Georgia especially with Carson Beck not exactly being the same caliber of athlete as SE Stetson Bennett is all right the other thing I want to hear from Mike Bobo today as he makes his press conference and the one time we get to hear from him until December is the one thing we could not talk to him about a whole lot in the Orange Bowl and that's the new communication that is available to offensive coordinators and quarterbacks and on the defensive side of the ball in college football this year as the quarterbacks will now have an earpiece in their ear and they'll be able to hear directly from the offensive coordinator in the first few seconds of the play clock and how will that change it's already been an adventure for Georgia it sounds like so far hear what Carson Beck had to say about that back at SEC media days coach buo always says this he always says that he's deaf okay so he talks very loud and when we respond back to him well we need to be loud as well right so I don't even think he realized how loud he was talking into the microphone at first it was like like one of our first scrimmages and he's yelling and like I literally I think I literally took my helmet off and I could still hear him with my helmet like over here I'm like so I go to the equipment guys and I'm like yo like can y'all like turn this down like this man is yelling into my ear I can't concentrate but no we we worked it all out but I I love the fact that you know he's able to talk cuz there's maybe like a little cue that he might say for a play like look out for this coverage look out for this if they do this do this just like little things you know but I like it a lot I think it's going to you know change the dynamic yeah so I can't hear wait to hear Mike Bobo side of is he yelling or is he not and we'll see if he yells into the microphone later today but I do love having a former quarterback as your offensive coordinator who's in a quarterback's head telling him what he sees as he sits up top right and because of this new communication you wonder if some teams are going to be changing up the way that they have their offensive coordinator somewhere down on the field somewhere up in the Press Box I think with Bobo and the offensive coordinator traditionally being in the Press Box for Georgia that's going to make this transition a little bit more seamless it's going to allow Bobo to see things call things out for Carson back but at the same point in time H not to make a top gun Maverick reference here you know John Ham is not yelling in Maverick's ear uh while he is flying the plane and so I think with Mike again you know it's helping Carson out but also maybe not giving him too much and letting Carson do what he does well because one of the absolute strengths that Carson has is his ability to win with his mind and to see things to recognize things recognize coverages there and so because of that you know this is may be something where for a lot of quarterbacks I think this can potentially help them a lot but for a guy like Carson Beck whose strength is so defined in his ability to read defenses maybe this doesn't have the same level of impact that it would for a lot of other quarterbacks or maybe even a year from now let's say a gunner Stockon potentially has there as the starting quarterback but I I will say this you hear the the the Mike Bobo comment there from Carson back about being death I think that's what I kind of want from an offensive coordinator especially when you're playing for a defensive minded coach like Kirby SM because look you know you're going to be getting criticized I think Mike Bubba over the past decade or certainly in his time at least with Georgia has been one of if not the most criticized uh coaches in all of football so he's got to learn how to turn that stuff off and tune it out and if you're deaf I I think that's a great way to not hear criticism uh some of it obviously being valid at times but also I think also a good amount of it being a little bit overblown and when Kirby's not happy you know hey just keep focusing just keep doing your job and so maybe you know Mike Mike Bobo's hearing issues maybe a little little bit of a blessing in disguise there yeah I can't wait to see when when these stadiums get rocking you got to go on the road this year you got to go to Austin you got to go to Tuscaloosa it's going to be loud it's going to be loud at Old Miss and a night game there so you know there's going to be moments I'm sure where he doesn't feel as loud as he is but can't wait to find out what we get from Mike Bobo today as we hear from him so those are kind of the things we hope to learn and I'm sure Connor's going to be there he'll have questions for Mike Bobo and he'll have a full report on dog.com it is dognation daily different topics we will actually hear from Mike Bobo in that show hear what he has to say and we kind of React to what some of the answers were to the questions we had for him one of the other folks we're going to hear from today is Todd Hartley georg's tight end Coach so let's talk a little tight ends as we look ahead to this season you know obviously no Brock Bowers Oscar delp's going to step in and play a bigger role my question is everybody that I'm seeing online just kind of assumes that Ben urc's going to come from Stanford and take that number two spot and I heard you say it earlier how about LW and luck he got plenty of run last year and I think he's one of those folks that's going to continue to get run so do you just assume osex going to be the on the other side if they line up in a two tight end set with Oscar Dell yeah to quote Lee Lee Corso who celebrated his 89th birthday this week not so fast my friend I I think that lawon lucky and I look forward to asking Todd Harley about him today just how his development has gone this off season because I think when people see you bring in Ben URC who has not comparing him to Brock Bowers in any way shape or form look I'm gonna use this to point out I think Brock B is the greatest Georgia football player of all time I'm not comparing Ben URC to him but they have similar skill sets in terms of the things that they do well and I think benek is going to be kind of that move tight end for Georgia law and lucky can do a lot of those things as well and Ben y did not go through spring practice with Georgia Loston lucky has now gone through two spring practices he's been through them with two summers as well there and he's a guy that I think could do a lot of things look he was the buzz of spring practice in his freshman season he came out and I thought played really well the start of fall Camp last season and he's gonna make things difficult on Ben a second look I know you you see transfer players you expect them to make inant impacts I know a lot of people are anticipating Trevor and doing that there's a history of guys not exactly working out and lighting things up when they transfer in for Georgia you hear them say it's not for everyone and so right now in the early parts of practice Oscar Delp obviously georg's number one tight end he I think he's going to be on the field every play it would not surprise me if he led the offensive skill players and snaps played this season but Georg is still going to play a lot of two tight end sets especially after losing Rahat Thomas to dismissal and I think there's an opportunity for either lawon lucky or Ben urk to call out those reps and carve out that role and right now lawon Luck's ahead of Ben urk on the depth chart with what we've seen at Spring at fall practice so far obviously long way to go before that Clemson game but LW and lucky is a name maybe you don't sleep on when it comes to this Georg offense and being a guy that can make an impact for as much excitement as Ben URC does bring to this team in this tight end position first off how about urk in the 84 is so strange to see somebody else wearing the 84 Jersey isn't it yeah these new jerseys it's always a little weird like hm uh Justin Williams on defense in a number 19 like that that's not Brock Bowers uh you know you see raayan Wilson in a five I oh that that's not key Ringo there CJ Allen a linebacker wearing number three I'm like that's not ran Smith so it is always a little interesting with the with the number turnovers to the guys we see out there yeah heavy is the helmet that wears the number 84 for Georgia can't wait to see what Ben URC has in store for this year and as we talk about Oscar Delp so you anticipate him just being he's being the guy as many touch is obviously probably not as we're going to see from Brock Bowers does not having Brock open up the offense more this year I think for Oscar it does it creates more opportunities there for him look he's a guy who's already played a ton of snaps for Georgia and I think Georgia knows what it has and him knows what it does well and he's a guy that those third and shorts I think are going to be asked to make big catches and make big plays there and look he's not going to make the same I think level of explosive plays that we saw Brock do he's not going to rip off 88 yard touch down catches but I think he is a guy that is sure-handed you know drops aside I think he's got that put behind him and I think he's a guy who obviously is a strong blocker is going to help out in that run game open up some more holes there and really grow into I think a complete tight end a guy that you as I mentioned earlier is just not going to come off the field and so because of that he always gives Georgia a certain look and always gives a level of physicalness to this offense even for a guy as athletically gifted as Oscar Delp is all right we're going to hit all the tight end room we might as well hit Jaden Rell I was kind of surprised in the gday game you know he came in we knew he was going to be big and he's built like a lumberjack and he was going to be doing all those things they fed him the ball a lot it felt like in the gday game is there a spot for him in this or is there too many guys and will he be just a special teams addition I think it's gonna be hard right now for him but I know that this is a guy that Georgia is really excited about long term and a couple of the practices we've gotten to see so far Kirby Smart's been hard on Rell and he's been riding him a little bit and some might say oh that might mean he's got a long way to go I actually go the other way I I think this coaching staff knows what Rell can bring to the table and they're trying to get the absolute most out of him as soon as he possibly can look you only have to go back a season ago when Lawson lucky was dealing with an injury Pierce furland dealing with injury now he's obviously medically retired and Brock Bowers was dealing with an injury like injuries can thue out really quick and so they know that they have to get everybody ready to play in that tight end room from an athletic standpoint rell's up there man that guy is a freak athlete and is a guy that a a bigger Brock Bowers type skill set and I think that's what makes his future so intriguing do we see that as a freshman I don't know but he's a guy that I think this coaching staff is really really excited about as we start Paul Cam and it's one of those things that this coaching staff has proven they're not afraid to do you talked about you had Brock Bowers but at the same time as a freshman Oscar Delp went in and took significant steps talked about last year law and Luck's able to contribute so but they're not afraid to throw a young guy out there at that position right you think back to Oscar Dell him playing significant snaps as a freshman in that Ohio State game like hey look we trust you we've worked you all season and he went out there and really impressed coaches and teammates with how he stepped in in a very adverse situation there and who's to say that something similar like that doesn't come up this season obviously you're not rooting for injuries but in a 17 Game season where potentially you're going to have to play more games than you ever had death is so important and so critical and I think Georgia understands that they've understood it for a long time I think a big reason they win so often is just because they have the best 85 man roster in addition to sometimes having the best 22 players on the field so Todd Harley's ability to develop his entire tight end room and not just Todd Harley but every position coach for Georgia football program I think is something they're really stressing in these early days of camp and why you don't really see them start looking ahead to Clemson until later on in the month you're talking about Todd Harley he's somebody we got to hear from at the Orange Bowl as well we don't get to hear like we've said over and over today you don't get to hear from these coordinators a lot but hearing from T Rob the other day hearing from Glenn Schuman you'll get to hear from Mike Bobo I always come away with these pretty amazed I I like these guys so much I want to hear from them more Todd Harley is one of those you just know it's going to be a good press conference today and he's a great recruiter so obviously he's great at great at getting in front of somebody and selling something but he's somebody who's always really fun and really interesting to hear from even on other positions yeah I I think that it's not a surprise that like when you start seeing these coaching rumors lists or these coach lists these ug position coaches you know you think Sam Pitman obviously moving on and up and becoming a head coach at Arkansas uh Dan Lenny going from an outside linebackers coach defensive coordinator now the head coach at Oregon you know I Del McGee a year ago going from running backs coach to head coach at Georgia State I I know we don't hear from Todd Harley I don't know what his path to maybe being an offensive play caller is or what is it pack to being a head coach is but it's hard not to come away impressed when you get it sit down and talk with him not just about the football aspect but about the people aspect as well in terms of how he goes about recruiting building relationships and not just with guys in his tight end room but on the entire team Harley was a big piece in recruiting Carson Beck down out of the Jacksonville area and so with Harley in particular here like he's a guy like every year that Georgia is able to keep him in some other G5 program I know the Marshall job was one that was thrown around with him given he had previously worked there every year that a G5 program doesn't come and and snatch up a guy like Todd Harley I think is a major win for Georgia and it would not surprise me if he ultimately follows say a Del McGee type route of being a guy who's at Georgia for eight nine years becomes a really trusted Lieutenant for Kirby Smart and then ultimately one day instead of having to go the coordinator R just jumps all the way ahead is a head coach at a program he's definitely worked his way up so far so interesting to hear from Todd Harley again like Mike Bobo Connor and I will have what Todd Harley had to save if it's news making we will have it for you tonight on dog Nation at large that's right here on your dog Nation video channels at 7:00 so looking forward to that also Connor will have some of his observations that he had from practice on Tuesday we'll share some of that talk the defensive side of the ball as well tonight on that means rapid service so water heaters you got your water heater go out don't take a cold shower call them they'll get it replaced today RS Andrews proudly sponsoring our cooldown so as I hop in on the comment section we will see what everybody is talking about I would not blame coaching dist Paul moon on YouTube no wouldn't blame coaching decisions on Mike Bobo I would plan I would blame over estimating milro putting too many resources on that I think yeah maybe with the B game was a game where things were overthought yeah I I think that in particular especially at the end of the game where hey look georg's offense scored touchdowns during their last two drives but I I think when you watch uh as Paul points out when you watch that Michigan game the way they elected to attack and I think be aggressive in defending Jaylen milro Georgia just did not have that and part of it maybe is the Personnel Michigan had a great defense defensive line they're going to have one this year uh it was not the case for Georgia they were banged up at the end of the year I think smile munden's injury is maybe something that has been overlooked a little bit he told us he was basically playing with a broken foot at the end of last season and that's why you saw CJ Allen and raayan Wilson play so much in that game and play such a large role and you never want I I think true freshman in a role like that you obviously want to ease them in there a little bit more but I think one of the big things and why I I agree with Paul in terms of going over the the Alabama game like yeah the offense wasn't great but I think in seeing the way that Jaylen milro had played at other points for it during the season I think Georgia was maybe a little too differential of his speed of his legs and not rushing him a little bit more and forcing him to try and win with his arm and they'll get another shot at doing all that this year DT and Don are arguing on the dog Nation how do we pronounce benex name and is is it URC is it urasc is is there controversy here we've always said urasc is that something get to the bottom of today Conor I I think it's eurc we're going to try and get the proper pronunciation from Todd Harley today I I hope at some point this August maybe we can hear from Ben urasek himself and get it cleared off if it is URC or osek uh look and I know hey pronunciations I am maybe one of the worst people out there when it comes to it so I certainly understand if it if if someone sees it one way and someone sees it another yeah one of the things that it's disappointing we don't get to talk to all the players all the time we don't get all these clarifications I my mind goes back to Quincy MA who his senior year finally had the guts to tell us hey y'all you've been saying my name wrong I think of Wilson bamit was a brave a long time and then as he was going out the door hey it's beta May by the way and it's I hate that because we want to get it right for all these guys so hopefully yeah we do get uh your SEC your a sec says DT DT so appreciate this producer Jay chiming in here of all the things that's happened today which has been a little unique day Wilson bamy making the show is um not what I expected hey we got a that is a that is an old school throwback and he may be able to hit better than 150 that which is you know half the bra on it oh yeah we don't want to talk about the br oh Eddie Rosario DFA today by the way um yeah it that I mean you swinging Miss right you got to if you're if you're yeah all you got to do is hit 200 to stay on the team right now it's all you got to do just break them inoz a lot it's rough times as they hopefully don't get it's got a noon game Conor can we hit the noon game before dog Nation at Large go down to uh truest Park you'd have to come from Athens so and you got it you got something going on at noon yeah today might be tough but uh I think going forward you could do Braves game roll right into dog Nation at large and H and call it a great afternoon maybe record a little bit later in the day but I definitely think that is going on plus big day at the Olympics Team USA play Serbia at three I believe you got Noah all running in the 200 100 meter exciting day as we uh draw closer to a close here in Paris yeah so yesterday ba is talking about how he doesn't like the Olympics I've heard this take from other folks around how they're just not big fans of the Olympics I'm a huge fan of the my brother calls me last night this is no joke I it's like 10 something at night I'm like why is he calling me what's going on he goes are you watching this France Germany handball game this thing is insane I'm like hey it happened earlier in the day so like you can know what happened like they're replaying it but he's like oh France had a lead with just 10 seconds left and Germany come back and and I'm like that's the beauty of the Olympics all of a sudden we care about stuff I'm yelling at mountain bikers the other day and like fencers what are you doing like things I know nothing about but that's what I love about the Olympics is I'm I'm get into it and I don't care what country it is yeah like the men's 400 meter yesterday I don't know if you've seen the video of it uh Quincy Hall Just One of the most incredible runs I've ever seen in a track event to come from like fourth to win it at the end uh I I think in comparison to most people am not a big Olympics people but I've had a ton of fun these last two weeks and I'm excited to see how it all wraps up France Germany uh in the men's basketball semi-final that's tipping off at 11:30 today if you can find a way to watch that at work I think that's going to be an awesome game an awesome environment there in France we know historically Germany maybe hasn't been afraid to go into France and maybe upset some things there so very much looking forward to uh seeing how the basketball closes out here today you have to consider the Olympics like sports Buffet where you can't do it all the time but when you're there you have to eat everything and sometimes you find stuff that you like and sometimes you find stuff you like once every four years yes like I won't think I won't think about Cole Hawker for another four years but like him winning the mile or the 1500 uh like just absolutely incredible and it's got a Sprinkle of patriotism so who doesn't like that yeah when in doubt you can always cheer for the USA Matt rukavina says yeah watching girls volleyball in a tough match as we speak so appreciate that um thank you everybody for chiming in on our comment section today again it's kind of a a weird day as we're all thrown into something you know little pinch hitting situation and hopefully we uh keep you happy here so thank you guys so much for watching and we'll cool down for another couple minutes and Connor's got to get in the car and get over to uh to butmir and get ready for this press conference so looking forward to that Spencer Clark why dog fans don't see STS and Benn as the greatest dog of ever born when hersel did his thing Stetson brought us those rings so does ston Bennett not get enough love I think he gets plenty of Love do you think he's not appreciated enough Conor there are people out there that will never appreciate STS and Bennett properly I I I do think that that sentiment exists out there I know that that sentiment exists out there uh gotten in more than a few heated discussions uh defending Mr Bennett and and look you know I I think a big reason why I personally have Brock Bowers over Hershel Walker the fact that Brock won two championships and Hershel only won one uh and ston Bennett played a significant part in both of those championships I think Brock was objectively the better football player than Stetson was but you watch what Stetson did in that 2022 season I think he was a deserved Heisman trophy finalist the Tennessee game he was incredible the Ohio State game uh you know look we know how it ended with the missed uh field goal at the end there but ston Bennett was absolute Nails in the fourth quarter of that game when they needed him to be and overcame a slow start and and so you know as time goes on like the fact that ston Bennett is not the obvious greatest quarterback of all time for Georgia I think is a little unfair for him I think yeah I think it's one of those things as we get farther away from it as well I think people will only appreciate him more and what he did because you know winning back to back like the list is not long of guys who've been able to do that um yeah offensive MVP and all but one of every postseason game of 2120 to thank you sin hotl for chiming in on YouTube with that all the respect in the world there a lot to talk about jayen milro and if he's an NFL type guy if if he deserves to be loved uh or not so your thoughts on jayen milro is he an NFL quarterback that a lot of the the argument was Anthony Richardson was a high highly taken NFL quarterback so how do you feel Jaylen milro Compares or where is he gonna fit in Anthony Richardson is was a miles better throw over the football than Jaylen Moro is uh look and Jaylen Miller was a fantastic college quarterback he won Alabama some big games last season I think helped get them to the college football playoff I'm interested in seeing this year with kayin deor how he takes steps forward we talked about Carson Beck earlier Jaya Mero throws a great deep Ball but a lot of the undermate the underneath and intermediate stuff he just really struggled with and with Alabama turning over its wide receiver room I'm going to be really interested in seeing what kayn dor is able to get out of Jaylen milro and how jayen milro improved was a passer this year you know that Washington team a season ago with Michael pennx now the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons you know we talked so much about you know how penx LED that team and what he did romad dun was up there and maybe even I think a better College receiver than Marvin Harrison Jr was last season Jaylen pul was a great receiver he's now with the New England Patriots he was a second round pick Jaylen McMillan was a fourth round pick in this year's NFL Draft they had some dudes at wide receiver last year that absolutely made that offense go I don't think to start this season Alabama necessarily has that you see them go to the transfer reporter bring in a guy like Jamie Bernard uh they signed festar wide receiver Ryan Williams but he comes in and actually uh enrolls early not just uh over the summer but uh moves up his graduation date from high school there so I think a lot of it for Jay Mero fairly or not is gonna come down to the receiver room and the talent he has around him but in terms of comparing him to Anthony Richardson I think Richardson for even the question marks that he does have I think Richardson was a better athlete and I think even in comparison was a more polished thrower of the football than Jaylen Milo was and we talked during the show about the self Scout that Travaris Robinson could do for Georgia well he's a guy who saw jayen Milo every day in practice for you know the last couple years so he knows exactly what we're going to get so can't wait to see that match up all right Conor we got to let you run and get over to the press conference today thank you for joining us on dog Nation daily and thank all of you for hanging in there with us as Brandon gets some things together off the field and he will be back on field very soon that's going to do it for our RS Andrews cool down and that will do it for dog Nation daily presented today by Mary weather and Tharp
