It Happened Moments Ago! Asteroid Hits Earth's Atmosphere in the Philippines

Today, September 4, 2024, an asteroid was seen falling in the skies of the Philippines. Believe it or not, this asteroid had already been detected in the morning by the Catalina Sky Survey observatory in Arizona, United States, and the European space agency had announced that it was going to collide with the Earth, but without causing any damage. And that's how it happened, late at night in the Philippines, the 1-meter-diameter asteroid 2024 RW1 hit the Earth's atmosphere and disintegrated without causing any damage. According to the European space agency, this is one of the first times that the alert system for objects close to the planet acts with high precision just a few hours after the event. This was discovered in the morning hours of this Saturday, September 4, and it was estimated that it would impact the earth at 4:46 in the afternoon, coordinated universal time, near the island of Luzon, in the Philippines. This would be the ninth time in history that an asteroid has been detected before its impact. Given this early warning, many of the residents waited for the moment with their cameras ready to record this spectacular event, where we can see a huge ball of fire fly through the skies until it disappears. An event that is of utmost importance for the European space agency, since it is a sign that we are improving our planetary defense capabilities. As always, I will inform you of any news.
