brilliant moments magic moments these for Scottish Cricket as they continue to ascend their place on the global stage never beaten Australia well not in the modern era did back in the 19th century and what was a very different time Richie barington has been there seen there and done it all for Scottish Cricket he want to do much more today but Mel for this young man what a moment for him and his family who are here Cooper Connelly his Australian debut that's right Cooper Connelly the young Western Australian he was presented his cap by Marcus stus a little while ago his parents Donna and Shane made the trip over from Perth and they were quite emotional afterwards really wonderful moment for this young man he he had a bit of trouble getting his cap over his hair I have to say with that lovely sherf as Bonnet that he has but War congratulations from everyone his parents were absolutely delighted left handle which is something that the Australians don't have a lot of in fact lot of David Warner retiring and also Matthew Wade not being here just changed the dynamic of the team a little bit as we see olle haes and George mszy the two powerhouses can they do it today this crowd wants it absolutely packed out here we've seen kids piling in all wearing Cricket Scotland gear talking to them out in the streets they're so excited and a rare opportunity to get up close in a venue like this to be able to see the Australians in a way that you probably rarely get to do anywhere in the world and lovely moments for those kids from the all stars and dynamos Cricket program that work with Cricket SC Scotland thanks to the clubs across clubs in every corner of this country nearly 200 clubs over 800 kids and it once in a lifetime moment they are not going to forget here's the power packed opening batters for Scotland the two left-handers the two South Poes will tag team and probably try to out bludgeon each other George MSY and oi haes we are all set for what is going to be well a fantastic conclusion to the series yes the series isn't on the line but it's one more opportunity for Scotland to do something very special indeed a hush descends across the ground Aaron Hardy with the new ball for the third and final time here we go playing a Miss to start with Cooper Connelly t20i cap number you saw it on the side of the head there Mel 111 that's a good number isn't it depends if you're English or Australian doesn't it it's a bit of an unlucky number in in English Cricket the old Nelson I'd never knew about Nelson until I came over here so it was something to discover but yeah great moment his parents were so happy had a wonderful chat with donor and Shane just after he was presented with his cap ball beats the outside edge we're expecting a good surface again there's no doubt about that it's the same pitch that we've had all three of these matches on but I think what Australia's seamers have done so well that Scotland's haven't really with the exception maybe of Chris S and and to a certain extent Brad curry with the new ball yesterday has come in and hit a good hard length tall Bowlers thotting it into the pitch yeah that you mentioned the key thing I think too is the fact that they have got so many tall Bowlers who can banged in really hard and that has worked on this gra surface cutway going to be the first runs they might be able to get two here because it's only half a hand from Travis head and it will be two to monzi to get that Scottish account underway you just get the sense the crowd are are desperate to get involved every boundary every run in fact is going to be cheered to the rafters here T Tim David I think was having quite a fun time with the crowd over the other side to us I mention the fact it's a rare opportunity to be able to play in such or to to view a game in such an intimate setting I think uh the Australian players have really enjoyed that now top Edge where is this gone short third goes back it won't be easy to get to it he's not even got anything on it oh dear Adam zampa well he was running around like a dazed gazelle in the Outfield he didn't know where he was going and you have to ask and wonder why have you got the sunglasses on Adam you need Cloud glasses as you can see it's very hard to spot that ball just misjudged it and looks like was that Cooper Connelly running running in as well maybe he could have gone for it but I think zamper had called for it that's a real life and a bit of a warning for mansy didn't seem to be great communication Mel between the two fielders there either Oly hares is going to take his opportunity today to have a real go of things and he gets underway in fine style this is a chance he might not have had if it wasn't for that shoulder injury to Michael Jones and here is the power packed left hander will'll be desperate to grab it and this is probably how he'll score most of his runs as well in boundaries I'm not sure how much hard running between the wickets we're going to get from these two they both like to hit over the road they both like to go big and this is their last opportunity in this series both be disappointed with their returns from the first two games I know they are but it's a real opportunity [Music] for her is it it's just so difficult isn't it in terms of getting anything like a run of matches in his return to international cricket he's out of the game for the best part of a decade in terms of internationally since he's come back in he he has certainly turned a few heads that amazing Century Last Summer the IC men's T20 World Cup Europe qualifiers here in Edinburgh but since then if you look at his record really there's just been a PA City of cricket isn't there couple of games out in Dubai in March it's the boundary that he's climbed into did play a couple again in the the tri Series in dhag then batted once in the warm-ups in the world cup but didn't get a go in the World Cup itself so it's going to be very difficult isn't it for him just to establish himself at the top of the order seven from the first over seven for none the score the reason is there now in a way it really is because of George msay he' pretty much given up on international cricket Ole hairs maybe even Cricket almost altogether and uh George manay said to him come and play he scored back-to-back centuries in club Cricket really launched him back into the sights of the national selectors again and there's no no doubt the way the modern game has gone there is something that hars has and possesses that Cricket Scotland coaching staff like that's the ability to hit boundaries in this first six overs and it is it's an ironic twist of fate that in all reality probably wouldn't have played today I don't think he expected to play today Michael Jones having come back up from Durham barring that little shoulder injury that he sustained yesterday so can he grab that chance abber to open the bowling from the nursery end of the Grave pulled away but no real timing at all just be a single they won't be overly quick between the wickets but that's not what they're trying to do is it they're trying to hit boundaries in this for six I almost think for someone like olle haes if he ends up smashing a quick 25 or 30 that's a that's a job done for me but again I do worry about this Scottish line up just being a maybe a batter short said that all the way through so once you get through the top order first four or five it pressure really increases without a lot of ballast in the lower order packed away into the leg side well in front of Fraser mcer who takes it nicely on the bounce a little bit of an addition today don't we to the crowd with quite know what kind of band it is but someone's cominging with a set of drums add to the atmosphere absolutely love it they've got the drums they've got the tambourines they were in here very early there we go some India fans Scotland fans wearing an Australian cap as well wonderful atmosphere Scotland India Australia Al together love it I love that chat absolutely love it you've got it guys with Scotland shiran and then one one floating India fan who's saying actually no I need to stick with the blue of India and then the saltar the Scottish flag flying next to them reminds me I went back in my rabbit hole of research and was looking at when these two sides played in westers back in the 99 World Cup and uh there was a range of fans there on that occasion but what I loved was the closing line of the mat report it said the atmosphere boozy but cheery was typified by a spectator wearing an Australian team shirt and a kilt I love that that's the sort of feel you have when you look at that that shot that we just had there as well yeah that was actually the first official one day international between the two sides back in the 1999 World Cup Scotland qualifying for a World Cup for the first time and only had to go down across the border into England to enjoy the festivities can't pierce the infield it was a fine side too wasn't it iconic Scottish players that represented them so well the likes of Gavin Hamilton azim but was superb in that game against Scotland both 10 overs one for 21 including three maidens Bruce Patterson Ian philli Mike Smith George salmon the Captain John Blaine from The Grange Club here it's great history a great pedigree to Scottish Cricket great tradition of it in the country ha gets that a long way behind square and into the hospitality tent for six that's a good strike he gets to double figures Scotland have started confidently that's exactly what hairs is in this side to do so much power he knows his ground well he just helped that ball on its way I hope they were holding on to their glasses tightly there might be a few more heading that way today remember here Mel one of the other challenges for Australia this is a big challenge two T2 eyes in two days is not something for members do well probably ever or certainly not too often Associates are well used to it be a quick single as Harris tries to hit one down to Edinburgh City Center but just gets an Inside Edge two have been bold it's 18 for none and that challenge is a genuine one isn't it because you think of some of those qualification events that Scotland about to go through they'll often play play two and two days sometimes they'll play three and four Australia will have a much more luxurious schedule usually when they tour full members there's a a massive difference to the way Associates and full members operate and uh sometimes it's it's would surprise people to know how much different series and the associate world I was talking to De David about it he remembers it well in fact they they usually don't get their own hotel rooms it's a very very simple setup you can't imagine you can't really imagine Travis head and Marcus stus bunking in together can you I was just going to clarify that the associate level often share rooms it's not like they're on the street big swing of a Miss from oi hair no just the way it's kind of came across yes I I did mean they they do sh often share rooms in the associate World Tim David was saying to me y he's so quite happy those days are over but it does just highlight uh the the different budgets there we there'll be players in this Australian side who earn more than uh Scotland's entire operating budget for a year bows him it's an Inside Edge that's been dragged on and Hardy he celebrates ha is looking to go to his favorite leg side but again a little bit like mun's delivery yesterday Hardy was acutely aware of where the left-hander was trying to hit and in the end all hars can do is drag it on disappointing after some good signs but just go to the massive heave ho across the line Hardy it's been really consistent pushing that ball across just drags it on in the end first blow for Hardy hairs it was short it had its moments but he departs for 12 and Scotland 18 for [Music] [Music] one well big early Wicket for Hardy he's the one has the immediate impact in his second over Brandon McMullan come to the crease at number three he played so so well yesterday actually think he was a little disappointed with the way in which he ended up getting out mil the thing is about Brandon McMullen he always looks so good it feels like a surprise whenever he gets out he's so elegant he's just makes every shot look effortless it's not always power it's usually timing he picks up the length of the ball really early and just a precocious Talent love watching him back immediately get off The Mark with a quick single to Mitchell Marsh the Australian Captain one of the things i' I've been really taken with with Marsh's leadership and from speaking Andrew McDonald again this afternoon on his arrival to the ground is just how seriously Australia taken this this series there has been in days gone by a little bit more of a tour match feel to some of these kind of one-off Marquee games that some of the leading Associates have gotten but McDonald has been drilling into his troops that we have to start brightly here on this tour of Scotland and England if we don't Scotland are going to catch us and catch us off guard and maybe lower our flags they're desperate to win this series 3-0 that's been so apparent in everything they've done m has I mean you'd always expect them to say that they want want to win every match that's how it is and also for Mitch Marsh I mean you talk about him and his captaincy as well he really has been I think a revelation he's he's never lost I think I first interviewed him when he was captain of the under 19 side for the 2010 World Cup and when I was just starting out he was just starting out then and in some ways he's never changed Dan the gra down goes MSY has he got enough of it he has for more thought it was going to be four but you're getting a good indication as to just how sort of heavy that Outfield is there was a little bit of overnight rain a bit of Jew you would have expected that on the first day certainly to Skid off the surface and run for four instead it's just two to monzi yeah it really plugged didn't it it has been very heavy out there bit wet under foot it's just stopped completely yeah to go back to Marsh think everyone he's been through so many ups and downs in international cricket oh what a strike this is MSY likes it and like it for good reason too the fans of their arms are L as does David mlan it's a maximum 10 the third it's 27 for [Music] one a terrific Stroke by MSY we've seen those quick hands in actions he lik it and Mony absolutely smokes it he liked it [Music] too just referring to Marsh all the ups and downs he's had throughout his career felt like all of Australia hated him and that wonderful speech he gave at the uh Alan border medal this year he said sometimes I'm a be bit fat and I like a beer I think everybody just related to him more and more he knows all about opportunities and here is one for this young man Cooper Connelly his parents donor and Shane making the trip over to see their son make his debut for Australia what a moment still very raw this young man just 20 professional matches in his career what a big call from Mitchell marish saying we're not just going to cap you but we're going to give you a bowl in the par plate potentially to a left-hander who strikes the ball as well as anyone and who's known to play spin as well as anyone at the top of the order and there's a bit of a discussion where do I bow here skip well the thing that you hear everybody say about Cooper Connelly is that he doesn't get over BR by the big occasions hear that said again and again about this young man so I think there is that confidence born of realizing that he's done that when he's got the opportunity to play certainly uh for the scorches two fielders in the Deep both on the leg side no one on the reverse sweep me he happy to watch the first one so long on and deep Square leg are the two in the deep four in total on the leg side five on the off how long will it be before the reverse sweep comes out I don't think it'll be very long at all man will want to get on top in steady he goes to the conventional sweep but he picks out the protection in the Deep I talk about not being over overall that second game that he played in that 2023 big bash league in Australia well they needed 39 off 19 Mullen goes over mid on and it goes all the way it's the flamingo leg kick from McMullen what style he plays with and immediately connell's welcome to international cricket with a bang bring the flamingo out again and again it is so good to watch mentioned before it's not as much about power as it is about timing goodness gracious is gorgeous doesn't look to be really attempting to turn it does he he's just kind of darting it in getting it on with the arm yeah I mentioned they needed 39 off 19 he scored 25 off 11 to help the Perth scorches to that title that's what they talk about about him not being overo brave piece of bowling tossed it up and MC Mullen isn't tempted to try and take on the two fielders in the Deep happy with the single so nine runs from Connelly's first bow in international cricket it's 36 for he also certainly a fine batter he he's known someone who can bat anywhere really isn't he made 90 on his first class deut in the Sheffield Shield final but in this lineup where's he going to about seven or eight possibly yeah I think they see him is coming in somewhere in the the middle to lower order but he has battered up and down real flexibility even the bonus of the left arm option with the ball as well [Music] all the headlines are about Josh englas yesterday understandably scoring the fastest Century in Australian t20i history the 16th fastest overall but it was really this man who was the story of the show with the ball his career best figures world's number one ranked allrounder in this format for a reason they turned to him quite early again here in the power play really like the way Mitchell Marsh has been varying things up he's clearly identic IFI that this tour and indeed the the matches against England that will follow are a great opportunity for him to start to trial out all his variations on that path to the 2026 T20 World Cup that'll be in India and Sri Lanka pulled away behind Square gets good reward and it is going to go for probably one bounce and four yeah that was a little bit of a gift on that occasion from stus there they are absolutely having a ball that one just whipped around the corner there's no flamingo leg on that occasion but looks just as good swiveling on one [Music] two Brandon McMullen and George munay probably Scotland's two strongest players at the moment in terms of their form their overall records this could be a very important partnership they've started brightly haven't they they certainly have and you look you talk about the advantages for Australia taking this tour seriously and just a bit further down the track the 2030 T20 World Cup is co-hosted by England Scotland and Ireland so that's another attraction for teams in coming and and learning to play in conditions that are so foreign as well just getting a little taster see who does well yeah the sole complaint we've had from anyone of the Australian touring party it's a little chilly get over it I'm wearing a dress today I'm hard I've been Harder Than You Lenny and you're Irish I'm known around the world for how soft I am there they are the Australians beanies on Daniel vtori there's the great man spining Bowl coach the New Zealander who's well he's gone across the the Tasman what's going on there across the water you mean Aussie Dan that's that's what we like to call him Aussie Dan loud back in New Zealand B into the surface again you talk about sort of the the average scores here 170 is the average first inning score run right across all the T20 eyes there's been 25 of them now today's the 26th at this venue there's a big kind of variety in those scores 200's been gone past eight times in total but Scotland have only achieved that once that was in that win against Ireland last summer in what was well one of the probably one of the best t20s I've ever seen 215 213 play 205 that day as the Brilliance of MSY just about Trump darland rear guard led by Mark Adair the highest score at this ground 254 that came from New Zealand you would imagine for Scotland to really challenge Australia they're going to need to get to that 200 landmark and the key in both of the games they they've got themselves into a good position early on in maybe the first 10 overs and but then the wickets have fallen when batting first when batting second you can maybe understand it a bit more when they were needing 12 and over but I just think it would be very positive for them today if uh they were able to avoid that kind of collapse and just set a really good total R the Wicket another change of pace and MSY does really well to adjust to it there's thoughts of a second but ultimately they decide against it five have been bold 42 for one yeah I think that's probably the biggest disappointment for the Scottish coaching setup there's been no Partnerships as as there or any any of kind of significant 6070 80 plus yeah I think that has been the the disappointing thing because we do know what they can do this Scottish side and they just haven't been at their [Music] best the positions they've got to in those two games as you look at the the potential B lineup there could be a bit of variety to that Scotland persists to not listen to us and stick with all those extra bowling options been advocating getting another batter in but don't think they're watching the coverage back obviously and we'll see a fifth bowler introduced now for Australian Cameron green so Mitch Marsh is uh mixing it up early on in the power play the positions are incredibly similar in both of the games batting first and then batting second on Wednesday and on Friday on Wednesday there one point were 101 for three in the 12th and then even though theyd lost an extra Wicket they were 100 and four for four in the 12th Inside Edge fortune and four no one behind Square really on the leg side apart from a man head at Deep backward Square leg definitely a bit lucky but George Wy will take that he's been lucky a couple of times sced the ball early up and uh zampa wasn't able to get to it occasion I don't think that's missed by much and knows it look he knows it well important to make that luck count if you're Scotland fans and if you're George MSY you think of those two platforms they had though even if it was going to be very difficult needing more than two a ball to Chase down the 197 they required yesterday they're in a good position to get up to 170 180 just like they were in the first game so those kind of lower middle order struggles oh this is massive one of the biggest we've seen as monzi goes downtown right over the Scottish flag and gets the umpire's arms all off for [Music] six the mansy muscle on full display boy oh boy when he gets hold of it it's gone and it certainly was on that occasion got every single piece of it almost into the burger van there will be some watching on maybe down in Australia in particular where you're so used to these massive ovals in Adelaide and in Melbourne and in Perth they're not really small these boundaries that corner there is about 68 M so that that's probably an 80 M hit there from Mony we'll go for six on most International grounds clever bowling again good adjustment probably very tight to V white but just given as the one for the over and a smile from George munsy I mentioned it this on the first day it actually ends up I think looking smaller because the trees are so close you see those trees that that line the gra around there and because they are so close it does feel very tiny but actually the boundaries are decent sizes taken straight to the man and MSY who's got all that power was just looking to guide one away but all he could do was pick out Travis head at Short third and green Strikes Back be disappointed in this one George Mony see him replaying the shot there just maybe bounced a little bit more than he thought but Travis head was placed there for a reason and mzy he's fallen into the Trap [Music] Australia delighted to see the back of manay as well he was starting to look really [Music] dangerous but he departs for 25 of 17 it was entertaining Scotland lose their second 52 on the board [Applause] [Music] well Australia they needed that second Wicket didn't they they've again got the two openers in the power play for the third time in the series mzi and hars and munan Jones on all three occasions have gone in the first six overs and that has made it difficult for Scotland they're going to need something from their Captain Richie barington something certainly more than yesterday where he did look a little bit out of Nick there's his career numbers Richie Beno inspired 2222 2,222 on the board for him and he does have that Sentry to his name that was the first in this format for Scotland that came against Bangladesh long time ago now best part of a decade might even be 11 years back that came in the Netherlands got Australia every time they get challenged they seem to find a way to pick up critical wickets and every time a partnership builds it seems to break for Scotland slip in place now and that's the thing for Australia I I was asking some of the players around that World Cup victory last year in India and they I I guess I liken it when you talk about intergenerational trauma there's intergenerational confidence when it comes to this Australian side because they've grown up seeing teams do it they feel like they can they're always going to win and that people ask why they're so good in tournaments uh and why they have such a good record I think that's a huge part of it cut away and barington will get off The Mark with what should be a couple because barington is so fit and so quick he'll take on Adam zamp his arm and he gets back for two it's a wicket taking over but 12 runs have come off it as well the end of the first pair of Play It's 54 for two [Music] so the end of the power play Fielding restriction actions lifted how might that change things we've had a change in commentary Alli Evans is back in with us today welcome Ali good afternoon Mel good afternoon all yeah Scotland in a very similar position they found themselves yesterday this stage were 56 for two 54 for two so this has been the part of the the Innings where they have not really got going in this series so this will be where the Batters have looked to to make some changes and we'll have to see if they've had any change of plans so Connelly back with his left armors change of ends for Cooper Connelly interesting with him look for a second here they're going to go for it they are quick between the wickets then they make it easily uh with Cooper Connelly he's the second spinner to Ashton AAR uh back in Perth Western Australia but he's been chosen over him for this tour yeah I think it's a great opportunity we we've seen we've seen the way that both Scotland and Australia have approached this uh this series is is giving opportunities and seeing how different combinations can work we we saw the England squad being announced for when Australia goes south the Border a similar effect as as well so as we get to the end of this British summer it's always looking for the future all three teams are seeing what what does the next genu look like what do the next combinations looks like and it's a great opportunity here for Cooper Connelly is it his first Wicket the Australians think so David mlan is unmoved they were up there Australia they dearly want a wicket for the debutant yeah they were convinced it was simultaneous they all came up here together no barington unmoved however oh swept hard that's four runs barington wants to get on top of the youngster yeah Richie strong prolific sweeper of the ball uh we know that it's a strength of his and especially when he goes to that SLO sweep we can see go miles but going conventional first first time not letting connley settle wanting to make sure he stays top of then gets low quick hands behind square and he goes away for another boundary it'll be a DOT ball to finish so a nice little battle developing here and after seven overs at 61 for [Applause] two Mel what's what's interesting with with coopa Conley coming into the side is the 30 wickets that we've seen throughout the two the two um game so far only five or four to spin it's been a lot of the seamers doing the damage so with connley coming in it' be interesting to see what effect that might have on uh on the way that Australia go about their bowling changes now it's going to be a twin Spin Attack with Adam zampa coming on as well actually played him pretty well I thought Scotland y today he's not someone who would appreciate that I'm sure he's coming back in here to this match Keen to uh grab a couple of wickets starts off with a traditional exper there seen McMullen being strong with both front and back foot but know they were proactive against zamper yesterday and it's good to see them playing the ball rather than playing the man we all know how good Anam zamper is but batters you can get sucked into expecting there to be something great Shane War talked about that a lot so like to see them keep taking the initiative keep taking on the front foot take him on oh we know too just how strong barington is against spin he he's got a couple of sweet spots hasn't he square of the wick at both sides but also the ability to go down the ground was so scratchy yes that's the scratchiest I've ever seen him I think yeah no he uh it looks to Target spin uh Richie barington and you know he's in really good form when he has the ability to access over Extra cover he uses his feet beautifully moves around the crease to give him that angle and when that shot comes out into his game that's when you know that he's seeing the ball well oh this time doesn't connect onire willing to give it a little Ry smile from Adam zamper there yeah umpire Ryan milm keeping his finger well and truly in his pocket H got outside the line enough doubt there remember no third umpire available for these games hey might have got a bit lucky there you think that's the key if if you're going to play a sweep and Charlie tier fell fell short to this yesterday about if you're going to play a sweep you need to try and get that front pad outside of the line so then it's making the Umpire it's hard for the Umpire then to know they can give you at lbw gives that extra level of protection so Richie always trying to get his front pad out the way unusual Fielding error from stus generally so good that there'll be two to finish up the eighth over at 67 for two Al it's just so important that we see a partnership build it's the ideal opportunity with this pair in the middle together yeah and yesterday at this point we probably saw too many dots um so that ability that if we are the boundaries aren't flowing and apart really from English yesterday we didn't see that so that ability to rotating strike that is so important at this stage of the [Music] game couple of decent overs but no real fireworks we saw the beginnings of some from Molly ha and George MSY early back now in the jeds but even though these two in barington and Randon McMullen might not be the big Power hitters just so good with their timing barington looks 10 times more comfortable than he did yesterday yeah he's seems to be more settled today he's he started well as Cameron green comes in and there's commentators Cur yes that looks like an absolute be from Cameron green we've just seen the spin from both ends going back to seam as Michel Marsh the captain not allowing any batter to settle into one particular type of bowling and Cameron green nips one back in hitting right at the top of the stump see That Jag back not much sure Richie bar can do about that and unfortunately the Scotland Captain has to go cracking delivery from Cameron green just that sharp nip back in off the pitch Ducker doing for Richie barington the captain started better but departs for eight it's 67 for three [Music] [Music] Matthew Cross back in the side today he was out for Charlie tier in the second T20 International now has a chance because he's Captain well he's been done by an absolute Jaffer from Cameron green beautifully B old jagging back in through the gate he's one of the fidge Batters I think I've seen not well actually not just with the bat but behind the stumps as well he's a brilliant glovan often keeping up to the stumps as well so sharp just watching him I start to feel fidgety Aly y a bit of a jack rabbit Matthew Cross um very effective works works for him um you know he's he's an absolute Badger He he'll remember every fixture every stat from every game he's been involved in and he's just such an intensity and love for the sport that comes across in his movements I remember as well during Co he started quite a thing because he was doing some golf trick shots where he'd have the ball going down staircases and around another staircase through a door and end up in a cup somewhere he inspired a few other players around the world to try it but he was absolutely brilliant with some of those I think he spent days practicing each one yeah I remember him and Shan Pollock actually on social media going backwards and forward seeing who could get something knock against so many different things Matthew would do six sh would do seven eventually I think crossy ended up winning it with 17 I think it was that he managed to so and this was before sort of tick tock and Instagram reels and everything was really taking off so he'll be the one to tell you that he was a a man ahead of his time but yet no he's a he's he's a he's a great character Matthew he he likes to to take on a challenge have not met a more competitive man well he's got a job to do here today M Mullen again looking good but it was at this point in the game in the first two games things just started to fall apart a little bit need to build a partnership that takes them deeper yeah is that one just nips away seems this surface again we've seen two Pace nature in the surface throughout all three games but with the mist and the rain the drzs we've had arounds it's today that that tackiness is still just there as as it's being absorbed out the surface and we've seen Grim already nip one away nip one in to barington early in the over and that one just holds it lines and nips away feels wonder if they getting a slip in the game as an option Cameron green another incredibly tall bowler that they're a monstrous lot this Australian attack gets underneath that one and it goes all the way well there's a little release in the tension that have been building McMullen Freeze's arms and that is a mighty blow to finished the over 74 for three yeah it's not been a huge amount for short bowling short so far in this series unless you've gone really slow into the pitch MC Mullen there rocks back up there almost picking his leg up brown Charles Lara esque as we used to see back in the day and just uses the pace to help it around the corner Green's been really good when he's hit that slightly Fuller back of a length but when he's gone short it's not always B the r [Music] WS there's the brains trust there Drew McDonald Dan vtori look at what they see I tell you what I'd love to see a montage of Brandon McMullen on one leg a flying Flamingo he's tremendous Adam zamper back for another over we were just talking about Cameron green and height the height of the the Australian Bowlers you're a pretty tall man yourself Ally I won't won't take an exact guess but you're very tall how much of a difference does it make yeah it's a it's a point of difference we talk about different points of difference in Bowling attacks and it can make a huge impact because essentially you can abstract things out the surface that different type other Bowlers can't because most small BS they skid along the surface and generate pace and they can't then get the the grip that a taller bowler can more and more we see these three4 seam deliveries being bold and and when it's coming from a height not only to get the sideways movement the ball will hold a little bit more just from the trajectory that the ball's coming down and hit the pitch and we've not really seen Scot be able to utilize that cuz they don't have that 6'4 6'5 Baller in their Arsenal well that's a lovely sweep shot cross now getting his first boundary so again being proactive and taking the attack back to Adam zampa yeah s signature shot for Matthew Cross very good sweeper of the ball Wicket Keepers we like to they get down and sweep quite a lot but three dots before that boundary yes they he's got his boundary but he's chasing the over we've seen this too much from Scotland too many dotts there's another one what we saw at one point yesterday when they were going well they were able to get the six or the boundary early on in the over and then just able to keep rotating the strike from there on in this time the sweep won't get through so it's another dot just four off the over and at the halfway mark Scotland 78 for3 what I was really impressed with Jos Eng's Innings yesterday was we talked about the boundaries the sticks the paddles hitting over Extra cover but it was was running between the wickets so not only being able to score off good deliveries but when he'd hit sweepers he would turn ones into twos we talk about it not being a small ground but not being a massive ground massive ground so being able to hit those pockets and still generate twos put so much more pressure on the [Music] bowlers there's a similarity between the score cards from these three games couple of starts MC Mullen doing well but uh Mitch Marsh has done a good job of rotating his Bowlers Cameron green with two wickets that ball to dismiss Richie barington in particular was an absolute gem bit of a away movement for sha Abbot coming back into the attack again yeah seeing all these Bowlers now be able to Strat some sideways movement it's um it's not easy out there but again he's a very technically correct player there is Brandon MC Muller and that's a real strength of his but when there's that width and offer the ability to throw the hands through it Kyle kutzer former Scot camp that up was where he was strength really was anything think that was slightly wide and we see the Aussie BS throw their hands at it knowing half a b they most likely to get away for some boundaries just a single there and just highlight that yesterday when they were at their best Scotland and and we looking good were able to get the big shot away early but Mullen just getting the single on the second ball just at a halfway mark just past the halfway mark now how do you assess this Innings where do you think Scotland can get to yeah I think it's been pretty standard from what we' seen the the previous games a couple of boundaries early on some fireworks from Ms from from hairs MC Mullen going about his work really tidily but it's what's happening around that we've not seen anyone really get into the Rhythm and probably just that little bit behind where they want to be we know gra wickets get better the more they used we've seen it over the years so if we look at what Australia's been getting in the first two games they're going to need something around 200 and from the from this position they've got to go some we know that they do have someone like Michael Le to come in who can go very big and be very destructive oh he's maybe a little lucky there Matt cross yeah he's a very strong square of the Wicket Matthew Cross he's uh scored a lot of runs for Scotland in his club harriets and abedin here with the ability to hit the leg side sweeper boundaries and the offside in particular there again the ball just holding slightly in the surface as as Matthew tries to go go across it but that hold means as the bat face closes slightly gets away with it the longer he stays there with McMullen the better for Scotland he has been a standout for them for sure McMullen it's just got a little bit quiet in here you can hear the crowd has has gone quiet as well frustrating little period Australia doing such a good job of just pinning these two batters down yeah we know when you're getting to this level and you're playing the best that they're not going to give you those freebies as batters we what's the plan to be able to counteract that good balls we need Scotland to see more scoring off the good balls as comes down the track little sign of aggression but in the end it's just a single so struggling to get past four and over 11 gone 82 for three yeah seeing Matthew Cross use his feet down unlikely to see the proactive nature of it but once again not they be able to execute and find a boundary it's beenin apart from that hook shot from McMullen we saw in the last over from Green going short it's been there's been a Dar of boundaries and and that is where Scotland is really struggling to take the run over and they get those high scoring overs got to say I love those beanies got a bit of a Bogen snowboarder look about them which I of which I highly approve might have to see if I if anyone leaves one in an open Kit bag somewhere not that I'm admitting to a pre crime Andrew McDonald wears it well and another one Falls tried to give himself some room but foxed by Adam zampa and really frustrated there Matt cross couldn't really get going generally good against spin he's up against one of the best in the world yeah backed away we've seen him try to play The Sweep for varing Success the over before this time he looks to go offside having moved his feet he set early and never really committed to it the ball was there and Matthew Cross wasn't able to capitalize for straight with himself Adams ampa cool as ever sunglasses on here we go they'll be thinking that they're not quite where they want to go as cross goes for seven Scotland 82 for four oh [Music] [Music] [Music] and here comes the CH Michael Michaelis he well Michael leis can he make a statement here we know he can go off and when he does go off it's spectac and they need a lift in the Run rate but they also need someone to hang around as a foil for McMullen not the not that Michael Le is ever a foil alley yeah he's uh the game will move forward when Michael Le is involved and uh and that's the way you want to see how Cricket played oh and he's in the air MC Mullen it does fall safely but that shot is perhaps a little sign of frustration yeah but bit of a gasp there I think he got the length he wanted to MC Mullen he so quick to pick up length and pivot and whack it away over the leg side and a little bit of a gas but these two will bring energy through their running between the wickets they're both loud they're both energetic and and trying to wrestle by that at least belief they have momentum interesting too that Michael lek hasn't bowled yet in this series and he's kind of the player you almost want to see bow because the more he's in the game the better he is yeah he's a confidence player Michael he he always has been and uh when he's involved that gives him the chance to be as confident as possible down on one knee there's the Elegance stroke it's so languid and it goes all the way so McMullen Breaks Loose yeah over pitched from zampa M needs no more invitation just to pick it up an extension of the arms he's done this all the way through the series as soon as it's full he's just got one stride into it and bang there he goes over straight long on another maximum to the [Music] total half a shout but nothing really in it that's a better over for Scotland finishing up with a leg by 12 gone 92 for four yeah as I was say m these two both quick good athletes they like to be involved they like to be showing off that athleticism so it's really difficult when the bowlers are on top to try and wrestle momentum back to you as a batter so just that showing that intent between the wickets Turning ons two we talk about it all the time is such an important skill and these might be the two of the best dis boners of it on the Scotland side I know how he feels that's what I was doing to my trainers this morning had quite a bit of Scotland mud on them isn't he bowled well Cameron green Jamar you got to give him credit too for the way he's rotated and used his bowling lineup yeah he's not given Scotland batters opportunity to settle against one particular type of bower the moment that Scotland have had their small periods of being able to rest in some of that momentum back their way he's immediately changed it and he's he's shown that he has faith in all his bows to B different ends different batters he's the one who's in control out there still getting that ball moving into the batter off the pitch he handled it well on that occasion ni bit of Fielding too yeah and that's the running we talked about that these two will do uh moment that was hit there both of them looked at each other the call was two two two two straight away and uh tap and go make it easily back puts a lot of pressure on the outfielders there to have to be able to do a perfect piss of Fielding to stop that when you time it that well oh comes down the pitch and it's going to land safe he lost his shot there McMullen but the end result is a boundary it was streaky but it doesn't matter how they come yeah that's to end of the bat that we saw the downfall of McMullen yesterday the difference between yesterday and today is he actually goes leg side of the ball and he looks to go straighter we know how strong he is over mid off and just he always knows when mid off is up in the circle all I need is the toe of the battle half about as we see M and he gets the rewards for it so yesterday tried to drag it left side Tim David took an excellent mat today holding his shape looking offside and getting the rewards Mitch Marsh isn't a small man either the crowd are not going to let the Aussies off at any point if uh they make a little misfield Adam zampa can take it he likes likes to get involved as Adam zamper he likes to mix in he talked about yesterday he's traveled the country got to know Scotland and if he's going to be he has to know a nice Scottish crowd and a warm welcome as always but he'll take it in good faith and good stride I'm sure oh that one is sced it's going to land safely and what a you know it well Adam Dana they are not going to let you forget that one easily you're GNA have to take it on the chin has to pick it up right in front of the the patrons there we talk about the intimacy of this ground and just after you've got a volley from behind you the ball skews away not quite going well Le spoted it to oh yes no maybe oh and then right in front of the patrons he has to go pick it up there look at the the the Amber nectar that's going to fuel some words down there today I'm sure I do know as well there's a a wonderful podcast up here called halfway up middle and two gents who who are in charge of that they've organized a vegan hamper for zamper to present to him after the match he told Adam zamper told me he thinks that should happen on every tour he wants a vegan hamper I hope there's some not to go much of the Scottish pun some vegan haggus vegan iron Brew do they do they do vegan deep fried Mars Bars I'm sure there's a way to to make these possible these days again that's skewed away this time Adam zamper takes it cleanly and appreciated for it as well but that is another good over for Scotland and after 13 it's 105 for four [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] little bit of a Mist a har as it's known in this part of the world not far from the sea at all Ali Evans continues alongside me Ali that horror you described it yesterday what is it it's just a see Miss it's as simple as that fth or fourth here just north of Scotland situated uh which is the sort of break before you get into the kingdom of f as they say north of fourth and fourth MC very elegantly through the offside as fren mcer will do the Fielding just had a quick lap the first I've got to lap in on this tour Ali and it's a special little venue isn't it it really is yeah you uh it's literally a 5 M from the Rope to to The Spectators so so everyone feels part of it and you know it's really great for the audience I'm sure it's a great experience used to the big crowds the big venues you see at the MCG and the scg being able to get in and amongst the the cricking love Spectators it it provides a real different atmosphere and see how much that Scotland love their crer Le gets a good piece of this and gets enough of it to go all the way very strong area for Michael L somewhere he loves to hit and they're clearly targeting sha Abbot here are the gears going to be gone through now by this pair well we talk about Michael Le being a confidence player and we've seen it time and time again once he gets that first one away he gets the timing of the pitch anything could be possible and that side as we as we look from from off from the left of the screen going across that's where the wind's blowing so that's where these Scottish batters will be targeting it's it's not a strong strong Wing but just enough of a win speaking to some of the players before the game that it does have an impact Brad wheel didn't have his best day yesterday was saying that's what the Australian plans was so Scotland batters hopefully to utilize that and and with that blow is that what Michael Le needs to release the shackles Lenny and and get him into full flow just starting to get that run rate moving in a direction that the home fans will like up above eight and over now takes on Long on and Tim David holds on has to come forward he's been exceptional in that position and Le does get one maximum but then he's given it away David takes another very good and very important catch and as so often has happened just as Scotland are getting going a wicked Falls yeah it's that line again isn't it we've seen it throughout the course of the three match series here that fifth or sixth stump Scotland keep trying to drag it leg side it was the undoing of least yesterday it's the undoing of him today as well from that line does he have to be going leg side yes we talk about the wind but it means he's constantly reaching for the ball he gets one Maxim in the way but Le Casco for 13 Scotland now 112 for five [Music] f [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] Mark wat to the crease he's in at number seven and immediately the short ball is used to him good player Mark what with the bats should he be as high as number seven or would he be more comfortable at eight I think in this format probably is one too high he's say he's worked incredibly hard the last couple of years and has some had very important innings for Scotland with bat in hands I think we see him play the Scoops we see him using his feet but in terms of more suited for the the 50 over format I'm not so concerned but when you have to lose Michael Jones from the order and therefore OE hairs has to open the batting whereas at times we've seen OE bat at three it's limited then what you can do in terms of extending that batting order into the 14th 114 for five yeah crosses his International career Mark wat despite plenty of really good cameos he's actually never made a an ODI or a T20 i50 you think about that that's across now 70 T20 eyes and 67 OD eyes career batting averages of 18 and 11 strike rates of 80 and 114 they're good numbers for maybe number eight or number nine for number seven quite high if you were to get an extra batter into this Scottish lineup are you looking at someone outside the squad or or or where are you thinking you're kind of natural number five five or six is coming well Charlie tier has played in the in the team alongside Matthew Cross and and played as as a Fielder and that that would be the obvious option within the squad we've seen Michael English come into the the 50 over Squad and score 100 on debut earlier this summer is someone who's been in around squad for a long time and got a lot of runs domestically in Scotland whether he could provide that but thing we see is when you lose some longtime batters like kyl kutzer and Callum McLoud in short periods of time that succession plan you have to time it perfectly and with the pool of players that Scotland are picking from and the amount of crigers we have in Scotland you have to time that absolutely right you know we look at someone like a Tom Macintosh again as well who retired a lot earlier than people expected real young Talent who was at Darren Wick keep B so just hasn't quite Fallen the right way for Scottland from that perspective in terms of their succession planning there are a couple of the young batters of the likes of Chris McBride he's played a lot of OD eyes it's driven to the right of David but won't be wide enough of them to get the second right in front of our commentary position here Liam Naylor as well that rer he's played that one ODI there's definitely a feeling that it's a better like for Scotland yeah Andrew umid down in in somerset's another one who sort of made his Scotland debut as as a teenager and then stopped playing Cricket for a while came back into the setup was involved in the winter spread before he picked up an injury and there are talented talented young batters around and when you've had the success that Scotland's had in the last couple of years though you want to make sure that you you're trusting in the process that that you're doing and when every game is so important from an associate point of view you don't have that luxury to have a bilateral series and try some things and blood some players and that's where it's been really difficult with with all the amount of World Cups which is great over the last couple years how do we get these youngst more cricket and get them up to speed it's a real drag down and given the treatment down the ground not a good delivery and McMullen will cash in for backto back 50s against Australia it's his third overall against the men from Down Under he loves playing against them and this time it's come off 32 deliveries and the gry Rises to acknowledge maybe one of Scotland's finest young talents yeah well batted Brandon McMullen once again showing his quality in his class this is going to be more runs David will have to go to his left again but they won't get the second I think they'll be happy enough just to give McMullen the strike five remain Scotland have a platform what can they turn it into the score 1 2 3 4 five please tell me that's not the first time you've done that it it isn't and it's it's the dream score that every commentator loves that's I'm speechless and and many people tell you I I often speak too much to get speechless Landing that's going to look at the best of MC mullen's 50 with that score at 1 2 3 for five he's played really nicely all around the ground he's got power and quality and Grace three fours three sixes that one moment of Fortune Too as it just went over the head of Mitchell Marsh as well he's such a fine young player what will he do now in the last five zampa beats the outside edge yeah and what I love about Ronda McMullen is that he shows that traditional Cricket shots are still in the game and and yes sometimes he it adds it a bit of expanse to them and particularly when he looks to go over long off it's still a good Cricket position yeah he he he actually adds that sort of the power from rather Orthodox areas that he gets into it's a packed out Grange Pavilion in the background there three boundaries all to the leg side but he's equally at his Adept at scoring through the offside too six boundaries in total from here Scotland need to Parlay this position into well 170 180 even that might not be enough but to give them a realistic chance they've got to get past their highest score of the series got to get past 154 yeah AB absolutely and and they'll know that and we know that and it's not been for lack of trying we know that from from a Scottish side the resilience they they'll dig all the way to the end but there's just not been the execution of plans there just not been quite the quality their batty to be able to put consistent pressure back on the Australian Bowlers and at times it means they have to try and overhit it and that's ultimately been their downfall W goes down the ground gets more than enough he's going to get six it Soares over the S screen and out of the venue Oh What a Beautiful shot we've seen him do that once already this week good area to Target isn't it off zampa not a huge amount to turn on offer and six more to the total yeah they've played Adam zampa pretty well over the course of the last two games they've used their feet smartly they've not let them settle and what I like about when they do that is they don't look to go too Square they look to go straight hold the pose Mark what the cameras are watching you a bit of a wink a bit of a smile and when Mark uses his feet he's off at his best one of the great things about franchise Cricket you think of these players who you know in days gone by when a tour game would have been here they wouldn't even know each other's names Mark watts and Adam zampa in the same team at the oval invincibles that's part of the rowdiest area of the crowd good work from that man with the four beverages want to slip up there Ali no certainly not with these edmer prices have to say experience would tell me that end of Adams Amper spell four of been bold 16 overall it's 13 two for five from here what's realistic is 180 still on the cards we need a need a big finish 50 yard or 48 off the final four they'll be targeting 12 and over minimum and as you see Mar hold the poe give a win to Str but they'll need 12 and over that that 48 to give a reli opportunity and the way they go about that is do they go and Target 12 and over or is it two big overs of 20 plus and try and absorb a little bit in between been a fantastic atmosphere throughout this series and this might be the best of a lot of them the series is not on the line Australia will win it but if Scotland could keep it to a 2-1 Victory there'll be scenes of Celebration unlike any we've seen in Scottish Cricket since all the way back probably in 2018 when Scotland got the best of the old enemy here in an ODI marus stus back into the attack back B plenty of Cutters Al he was just doing a little bit of research while you're on with Mel Farrell there highest partnership for Scotland in this series including this mat it's 44 well that that tells the tale right there doesn't it it's it's and it's often only been from one end we talk about Partnerships it's you're scoring half the runs each you know not not reality but that's the mindset you have to have and there's never been really necessarily role Clarity within the partnership who who is going to be the dominant one and who's going to be supporting characters and without that Clarity and that might change the course of a partnership but actually knowing in that moment in time who's the one who's got a sense of a a bowler who's a sense on top of a bowler and then can can be the dominant side of that we've not seen that really come to fruition th far cut away HS it into funny areas does Mark Watson that's a fine stroke intentionally getting it over the head of the man at backward point he'll get four more up to a flying start yeah that's what Mark Lo's looking for he's he's looking to either use momentum into the ball come down the pitch or he likes to stay deep and cut it away we'll get those paddles out look how deep he gets to give himself a chance to react anything he can throw his hands at that's what he's looking for and is this the big over that Scotland are going to need to propel themselves past 180 hopefully up towards 200 [Music] a little bit of soul searching in the Scottish Dugout for sure what loves the big stage he's a fine player him and George Mony have been the two in real demand around the world wonder is that a little bit of a mind game remember stus was the one who pulled out one of Mark watt's deliveries stus has had the pace to go a bit shorter I think he would have but yeah just in contrast to that Ali that highest Partnership of the series for Scotland being just 44 even though Australia only batted twice they have the three highest Partnerships of the series Mitchell Marsh and Travis Ed said all kinds of records with that 113 run stand yesterday we saw Josh English and Cameron green put on 92 and then Mark Stone has joined with English to put on 64 so in those three moments okay they're elongated moments through 6 8 10 overs of cricket what a take oh that's super and a do of the cap from Travis Ed McMullen he can't believe it I'm not sure if head can either and outrageous grab plucking an apple from the tree and it's going to see the back of McMullen massive work big moment of the match Travis heads Take a Bow normally we say that about his batting but oh my goodness gracious me I mean he doed the cap earlier when he took a much simpler catch catch that and so clocked it at the time Marcus does quite believe it himself when it's going away it's going away and Brandon MCM he has been brilliant with the bat in hand this series unfortunately can't get his team across the line has to go for 56 of 39 balls Scotland now 1138 for six [Music] you're up brother Jack Jarvis on his home ground here at the Grange Club started out up in Livingston not b in the top four in domestic in club Cricket here got a job to do at number eight and he showed us with that one big six he certainly is capable of batting in the first game he gets off the mark immediately we were just talking about Australia winning all the big moments and they've won another massive one getting the back of McMullen yeah everything's literally just stuck Australia's way thus far I mean we know the margin for errors that are international cricket and that's being highlighted more and more at the course of this series and we've talked about those those big Partnerships that Australia have manages to create and with within those there's two sides of it it's the quality of the Australian batting but it's also the quality of Australian bowling limiting the Scottish scoring opportunities and they've just been more consistent with their plans and executions these Australian bowlers as you see stus th one into the surface to slower ball gets us to the end of the 17th three overs left for Scotland to work with 140 for six another look at this catch Ali just how good is this it's almost behind him that he's taking it out little bit like an NBA player or something reaching up for a dunk yeah what I was about to say an NFL wide receiver bit I'm more of an NFL man than NBA man and a little bit M he's he's pretty much on his hunches there and it's it's amazing how much you can trust your eyes when you take a catch like that we saw from Travis heads it's I often say when I'm coaching these you catch with your eyes not your hands cuz if you're tracking your ball your hand will go where the ball is mostly out of self-preservation certainly when I was Fielding but it's the way that you get yourself in position your head's still your hand will get there now 18 deliveries left what can Scotland get up to just continues to be such a theme in this series doesn't it that partnership between those two the six Wicket was worth 26 must have had what 15 maybe 18 Partnerships worth double figures and none of them have gone past 44 so it starts it starts and it's that rooll Clarity within let's tell it's execution at this level we have to execute we all know we've got the skills we've seen these Scots back has played some incredible shots we've seen they have power finesse skill but the ability to do over and over and over again at this level top Edge is going to go over the head of the keeper should get some reward here we'll pick up a couple of runs to the total 16 Partnerships Ali double figures this week for Scotland the highest none of them have got to 50 that total of 44 that was put on between MSY and McMullen a couple of days ago yeah and and hopefully for Scott's point of view we we get one here and that's what Jack Daris will do he'll stay slight leg side of the ball and he looks to hit over point he's actually very strong over from that back of the length over Extra cover tries to go down the ground but gets it absolutely no Mitchell Marsh Nestles underneath it and holds on Australia's catching generally when they've got there has been exceptional a couple of half chances have gone down when they haven't quite got to the line of it but Mitchell Marsh was never going to drop that and Jarvis he comes and goes very quickly yeah name the game at this situation of the Innings needing to accelerate that run rate Jack Jarvis we see stay still looking to Target his favorite area over long on Extra cover another roll of the fingers holds in the surface doesn't quite hit through the line of the ball slice across it Jack jvis as soon as he hit it he knews in trouble mital Marsh backet hands he knows he's not going to drop that he's smile on his face the Australia captain comes and goes three off three balls Scotland 143 for s [Music] Chris hole to the crease and he certainly has already done better than he did yesterday haven't been cleaned up first delivery there was a lovely little platform wasn't there five down with McMullen and walk just starting to build a partnership and yet again the whels are seeming to come off for Scotland Ali yeah we've seen it with Le we saw it with what clearing the Rope just just giving the thought that there might be a little bit of intent coming a little bit of wrestling back and momentum and then they've just lost wickets throughout the Innings at the worst times it's fair to say there isn't a huge amount of X Factor in this attack for Australia this particular bowling attack maybe apart from Adam amp of course he's a world class operator but he hasn't really been the one that's actually done a huge amount of damage to Scotland kind of just consistently lost wickets to all of the seers well we were saying earlier myself from M that going into this game over the 30 wickets that have been taken in this series only five have gone to spin and in T20 cricket that's quite a rare ratio and again I can't remember a wicket for into spin I don't think in this in this inning so far so it's been trial by seam so as we come to the 18th over Scotland find themselves on 144 for7 144 to think that zamp has picked up four wickets but then all of the other Australian seers that have been used they've all taken wickets stus with five Cameron green with five sha Abbot with five then Bartlett with three Hardy with two and Roy Meredith just with the one so there hasn't been any one bowler that's blown Scotland away but just collectively their bowling plans they've been very clever and I have to say that the biggest thing for me that I've noticed they've adapted to the conditions really well when plan a hasn't gone right they've immediately Got A Plan B and C to turn to yeah and I don't think the Scotland Bowlers have actually tried anything too dissimilar um in terms of plans we've seen it's pretty obvious what you want to be doing out there which is which is using the surface we've SE a lot of Cutters a lot of slow B bounces into the Wicket a lot of cross seam deliveries three quarter seam deliveries it's just that the Australian have they've got managed to get more purchase on the ball they've managed to use their height height has been a big factor here the when we saw them in the anthems earlier at the start of the game he went along the line there was a sort of consistency around sort of 6 foot you know a little bit over for the Scotland team you look at these Australia they 64 65 Cameron green 66 and and that adds that slight Dimension and be able to get more purchase and more bite out the surface when you roll your fingers over it Scotland just in danger of going nowhere here plenty of dots and there's big smiles on the faces of all the Australians in the Outfield they have been outstanding tourists I have to say that they have carried themselves as fantastic ambassadors for the game that we all love and they've left an awful lot of fans young and old very very happy been in to see them up close and and so personal lovely intimate atmosphere here at the Grange results haven't been going the way Scotland would have liked but I think everything from a kind of off the field perspect every everything else that Cricket Scotland could have controlled it's been well a week that couldn't have gone better absolutely and and this is what Cricket is about obviously we we look at the onfield performance but there will be thousands of kids and adults leaving this week with with memories and Inspirations to to keep their love of the the game being fueled and going going forward and in Scotland we know we can compete at this level we've seen it the last couple of World Cups we haven't showed our best side so far as enjoy themselves there well you can always rely upon your your big brother your big sister to maybe just steal the the prize possession out of your hands yeah lots of En enjoyment in the crowd as what finally gets back on strike and can only pick up a single this inning's in danger of of really ending very timidly they need a couple of boundaries here they need them quickly Scotland yeah they're not going to get to the score they want to but they need to wrestle some sort of momentum into the second half it's just petering away they've not been able to find the boundary with regularity throughout the Innings at all and right now there's a little bit of a hush and a little bit of energy being sapped out sapped out the Grange at the moment and we know Chris S can strike a long ball we've seen it he did against the West Indies and some warm-up games in Zimbabwe he's he's certainly done it for his Club Grange here in in Stockbridge and we just need a couple to spark this crowd into life again bows him the off stump is gone and Brilliant from Hardy it's a cross seamer that may have just hit the skiddy surface and kept a tiny bit low he's been very good I must say today and Hardy has a second Wick it to his name yeah yesterday Chris soul to of off wasn't quite cartwheeling back today he had to go for had to take on was a little bit low You Could See by his body reaction he wasn't quite the bounce he expected but this Scotland Innings is just falling away chrisol never got into it goes for two Scotland 146 for [Music] about [Music] safan Sharif in at number 10 very good player to have coming in at number 10 hugely capable with the bats but very good time to show it his main requirements will be with the ball today see the cross seam setup there very wide split fingers shareif will only keep it out it means what will be on strike with the final over remaining 146 for eight a little bit of deja vu here Ali is there for for Scotland and their fans yeah it's it's the same pattern three games in a row they they they threaten to to wrestle some momentum back and as soon as they get the Australia able to take that Wicket the no point if they had had any controlled purpose in their Innings it's always been fleeting and they'll be really frustrated cuz the talent's there they just haven't shown it [Music] how much of that disappointment do do you put down to Australia being excellent and exemplary in their professionalism and how much of it is is it down to Scotland underperforming cuz it's fair to say they are underperforming uh I think it's probably a 50/50 split you know we talk about Australia not having an X Factor but what they do have with this bowling tat is control if you're not going to have an xfactor you have to bring something to the party and what they bring is a controlled ability to execute plans big swing of a miss and those plans are on show again off cutter this time and just a bit of sort of almost tennis ball bounce out of the surface what's going to try and hit straight not easy when you've got what 6'5 6'6 Cameron green coming at you no he won't it wouldn't surprise me if we see him go down and and try and paddle something good Adam zamper fine leg is uh up in the circle he likes to get across his stumps mark what he he knows that he has to be creative in his boundary options so he'll either run it or paddle that'll be his two options he try and hack one out of the ground into the leg side now has he got enough of this not quite because it's an exceptional catch a nasty Collision has been avoided and Jake fras mcer has a smile on his face for two reasons one that he didn't have Shan Abbott coming flying into him and two that he's held on to another marvelous catch how good have Australia been in the field turn the words out of my mouth Lenny they have not anything they've come their way Mark w got a decent p and from our commentary P had M foul on the back gasping and groaning she wasn't sure what was going to happen it looked like it was a big clure last minute shot habber pulls out frustration for Mark watt but mcer brillian once again they it's not easy we said this yesterday with the catching and he D level a little Cameo from markw he has to go for 18 Scotland 146 for9 [Music] w [Music] rad curry in at number 11 Cameron green can't believe that's been given as aoid he thought it might have flick the pad Australia's Fielding Ali quite simply out of this world it's been as good as you'll see at any level anywhere in the world and they've made it look easy that's the side of it these have not been easy catches having to move 20 M to your left white ball white Sky tracking it the ability to take it with such ease and avoid a sliding short Abit I think they've been a red card to one of them they connected but the Simplicity they've done it that is the thing that impresses me the most Curry will get off The Mark with the single and Sharie will at least have three balls to do something with he's certainly a very capable batter allei yeah he's played some vial innings first 50 over World Cup to went to a while he scored the winning runs down in Christ Church in New Zealand back in 2014 that was it when we first saw him really come to the party him and Rob Taylor Lester just Rob Taylor at the time took us over the line and since then we've seen him played some big Innings again remember a game against Ireland here back in 2015 where he hit winning runs six to win so he has it in his locker to clear the boundary hopefully for Scots for SK gets couple away another cutter no contact made yeah still just 33 years of age you'd imagine should still have plenty of cricket left in him kind of found himself just on the the precipice of the starting 11 a little bit always in the squad but maybe not playing as much as he would have liked of late yeah bags of experience sapan Sharie absolute servant and Stor of Scottish Cricket he uh most memorable for that final Wicket in that famous England Victory but what he brings is is an ability to to fight to play any situation and and for a man who's played as many games as he has a SEMA moves very well on the field so he'll be hoping to go for another couple of years and finish his career on the high did pick up two wickets against Australia in that game in St Lucia and two wickets against om man too but both of those spells just a little expensive going at over 10 runs per over you'd think probably his natural skill set will be more suited to the ODI game we have to find a way today okay here we go final delivery of the first Innings 148 can they get to 150 be one shy of it CU it's just going to be a single a really good final over only three runs have come off it and that Wicket which has really been thanks to that Jake Fraser mcer catch and it's a very happy Captain Mitchell Marsh he's won an important toss and despite again some real moments for Scotland they're going to have to be satisfied without going past their highest score of the week and giving Australia a target of 150 to win yeah under par once again Scotland they threatened a couple of times to look like they could get going but ultimately never got out of second gear wickets falling constantly throughout the Innings once again either being bowled out of being nine down and that's been the theme of the week highlights obviously was another 50 from Australia from Brandon McMullen and apart from that never really had his Port around them let's get a look at the cards as we look through the the haze up towards Edinburgh Castle plenty of batters getting starts it's really a very similar scorecard to the first T20 International even though they made a few runs less five batters got to double figures but no one bing MSY and McMullen made big contributions for the bowlers Ali who really impressed you from Australia it was an all around team performance again yeah I thought Hardy was brilliant today set the tone early was a little bit expensive yesterday but coming back into the side today two wickets for 18 Adam zamper toiled away as he always does but Cameron green using that height goes away with three wickets three for [Music] 35 so that's going to be the tail of the tape from that first Innings it's probably a pretty disappointing end to that batting effort from Scotland they're going to have to bowl exceptionally well to put it up to Australia who will need 150 runs to win and make it a clean sweep and a 3-0 Series win not gowhere too far we got a special guest during the mid-innings break we'll see you in 2 minutes time [Music] [Music] [Music] straight [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and world austral [Music] [Music] forward to the world [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] it's alligned to have a special guest to give us a little bit more about where the ICC is at right now we got the ICC general manager for development William Glenn right alongside me William firstly you're very welcome to Scotland great to be here and what's a fantastic occasion for Scottish Cricket how brilliant are the scenes that we seeing behind us yeah well amazing wonderful to be back here in Scotland after a long time I love this ground um and what an occasion to be hosting a full member here let me take you back to the the T20 World Cup that was being played just a couple of months ago the IC men's T20 World Cup the first ever World Cup to have 20 teams in it a big expansionist statement from the IC how happy were were you with how it went and and particularly how those nine Associates performed yeah delighted with it uh I mean a fantastic outcome on and off the field USA hosting their first uh World Cup uh um for the first time so that's a statement of intent of our organization as well and we've got more associate members hosting ICC events in this in this cycle includ including here in in Scotland so that was fantastic off the field and then the performance of the teams on the field was brilliant right from the first game Canada USA was an amazing game of Cricket USA making it to the Super eights Canada getting win over the full member and Uganda at their first tournament first men's Senior tournament getting their first win as well so it was fantastic there was other highlights too wasn't there Scotland were exceptional so nearly got to the Super Eight Nepal really pushed South Africa and Bangladesh on the whole have has the organization been happy with the move to a 20 team format and are they looking forward to the next one in India and Sri Lanka yeah absolutely I mean that's why we've expanded the tournament uh in expanding the tournament we want our associate members to be uh improving and increasing the competitiveness of international cricket we invest a lot of time and energy in working with the members to do that and I think we we saw the results of that at the tournament as you as you rightly said some amazing performances I thought Scotland had a fantastic tournament Napal light up any tournament that they play in because of their very vocal and passionate fan base and an incredibly talented side as well so we were very happy with that um but there's a lot of work to do to continue building the capabilities of the teams from our associate members so that they're even more competitive at Future World Cups can you tell us about the importance then of events like this this series Australia coming to Scotland for the first time in their history for a series rather than a one-off game why is it important that those those full member nations the test Nations actually come for matches not just against the associates but give those Associates that exposure on their home soil yeah well that's the thing I think it's it's not just it's not just playing the uh the full members but but being able to host them as well and I think that's a reflection of just how far a lot of our particularly our top associate members have come organizationally that they be they are an attractive destination for the for the full members um and and that's that's vital for the game I mean in order to improve the competitiveness in order for our Associates to uh perform at that world stage they need to be playing playing the best and that's what we that's what we want to encourage finally just very quickly not just the men's team going well the women's team for Scotland they'll be there at that ICC women's T20 World Cup next month in the UAE great to see yeah it's fantastic was there when they qualified in Abu Dhabi earlier wonderful to see them it'll be great to have them in div it's a shame we can't the tournament in Bangladesh it would have been amazing but again a reflection I think of what Cricket Scotland have done on the field in particular to have two teams competing in a in a World Cup in in 12 months is amazing yeah they're doing phenomenal work off the field as well as are William Glenn and his ICC team we want to thank him for his thoughts off the back end of this break we'll have much more analysis and all of that second innings [Music] everyone and no to of abuse rfe and respect Environ [Music] [Music] [Music] that's that's very good keep going [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] welcome back to the gra you can see Travis head and Jak free m ready to come out the aim to chase down 150 be hard pressed to imagine them not doing it but there were some Beautiful Moments off the bat of Brandon McMullen he was The Shining Light for Scotland in that Innings another half century backto back Andrew Leonard with me well he's just glorious to watch him for flight isn't he he's just brilliant to watch your spot on and it's now three career 50s in T20 white Cricket it his quality his class and just how good he is Scotland have a huge task on their hands though to defend this low total Richie barington will be giving the orders through to the Troops they've certainly ended up Shy of where they would want to be Mel going to be Travis head and Jake Fraser Mur to get things going and for Scotland there's probably going to be some honest conversations had after this series but for now they have to show some character show some fights and they have to find a way to really challenge Australia because if not Mel we saw on Wednesday in that first game just how quickly Australia can get away from you particularly this m yeah it was a real Display of Power from Travis head did you get him early in the second Innings the second teach 20i I should say Brad Curry claiming the Wicket but the problem with Australia is well if it's not Travis head and maybe it's Josh englas maybe it's Mitch Marsh maybe it's Marcus stus they have a lot of batting prow maybe today it's Jake Fraser mcgurk making his debut this series hasn't really got going yet was out for duck in the first game it's going to be Brandon McMullen starting things off again opening the bowling here McMullen not just the star with the bat he's got a big role to play with the ball too you would hope that we'll see a bit more of Chris soul today as well he was the star of the show with the ball a couple of days ago this isn't something he does a huge amount for Scotland in this format he bowls a lot in ODI Cricket but because of the conditions that's really why we're seeing him take this new ball it's very very overcast it's a bit heavy can McMullen get it to move early and pick up the early wickets that well Scotland desperately need Matthew Cross is up to the stumps we're all set for the chase Australia need 150 to in immediately a bit of movement and challenging the Inside Edge Mel great here from will Glen right there the IC general manager for development exciting times ahead for the sport continued sort of progression in the men's and women's game yeah we just saw the under 19's Scotland women's side as well do a little lap of the ground going off to the next under 19's World Cup qualifying for the Women's World Cup as well T20 version that will get underway in the UAE soon that they've just announced recently their fouryear strategic plan Scotland and uh one of the cornerstones of that was was about sustainable success on the field which I think was a very deliberate choice of of words and phrasing to just try and make sure they can get that success on the field picked up into the leg side now they one of the two fielders is out there and head's probably lucky he didn't get a good piece of it as Le does the Fielding I I don't think anyone in in cricket Scotland is hiding there's been some difficult times but it's just a real renewed SE sense of optimism now not just around the team on the pitch the team off the pitch we heard William glenro praise that praise how good a job they've done three soldout crowds three capacity occasions here fantastic tourists in Australia and this is you know the kind of Base that you can start to build upon you're inspiring that next Generation we've seen kids in all around plenty of them are down to the Nets the adults that have come in of a days to save it all that's really been missing is been an outstanding effort on the pitch from Scotland they've had some good individual moments but as a team they haven't collected piece that all together yet could this be the day it's a it's a big ask with only 149 runs on the board to defend but you're right that that sense that things are progressing for Cricket Scotland try lindblade the new CEO only started earlier this year has come in and uh I think had a big impact pretty early on but they have qualified for four well World Cups in this past year the men's and women's senior and the under 19s as well it's a really impressive display one of the things I I enjoyed that L lenid said as well was that I know again there are some challenges off the pitch for the the 20 team T20 World Cup but that generally from a cricketing perspective it's been really well received and you saw him call out the performances of USA and Nepal and and Canada and indeed Scotland even Uganda too had their moments it's a global game all of a sudden and it's been celebrated as such that was her first World Cup where I really felt like it was a World Cup Lenny beautiful delivery to end a very good over from McMullen fras McGurk's struggles continue one bold one for none that's the key word there Mel isn't it you used it it felt like a real world cup 20 teams a carnival a celebration of the global game yeah really really stood out look at some of the wickets from the first Innings that was the dismissal of Ali hares Muny was probably a little bit unlucky Richie barington probably not at his best this week cross again never look settled when leis picked out long arm this moment maybe just the Turning Point brilliant catch from Travis head followed up two brilliant catches taken we saw one from Travis head and then cleaning him up at this moment well you talk about holding the pose when you're batting how about that when you're Fielding yes and just a little turn at the head and the nine wickets at fell that have left Scotland with what is definitely an underpar total 149 for n Here Comes Brad Curry he got Travis head yesterday love to get him early today wouldn't he is there any reality to defending this total we talk about the average run rate being up around 8 and a half and over at this ground we thought it could be the best surface even though it's the same pitch but the best this surface will play of the three days we thought 19 19200 was required logic suggests it's not but hey I'm never about logic in Crick Lenny and you know me I never give up anything I'm I'm very careful where I put my 50p and uh I always like to keep it keep it close but if they can nibble away it's just so hard when there's always another big gun to come What A Catch oh yes MC Mullen is there nothing he can't do runs wickets and now leaping salmon catches fittingly here in Scotland oh what a grab that is what a grab what a cricketer absolutely outstanding just given a bit of width but oh my word he is a delight in every way on the cricket field so close to the ground he just plucked it in the air and well brag Curry strikes again early bringing that bit of swagger to the Scotland attack fras mcer it's another duck for him and Australia two for one [Music] for [Music] Mitchell Marsh in number three back to his position that he was in in the first game didn't feel the need to bat yesterday nor a ball did take a catch but what about Brandon McMullen you talk about the salmon leap here or the salmon run if you will everything he does he does with great flambo viance and Brilliance that was well a stunning catch at backward Point get another look at it after this ball there is nothing he can't do right now edged very nearly to McMullen again who else would it be how good was this catch Mel Farrell well it was just phenomenal you see here how he had the width and that ball flew it was so low to the ground when he pled plucked it great movement and the crowd love it it's it's actually brought them to Life Again Brad Curry's claiming the Wicket it was really all about that one man Brandon McMullan been such a fine for them hasn't he for Scotland you think about the Brilliance and quality of Kyle kter and Kum McLoud and and how you replace players of that quality you find Scotland's own Jack Callis that's what few of the boys have nicknamed him R the traps here just such a an allround good cricketer and actually a very modest guy as well he doesn't strut around he's he's pretty quietly spoken he does all is talking out in the middle there will be a few demons won't there in the heads of Scotland with these two Wednesday well it was a blitz C it was hitting like we've never seen in any T20 International before the world record fell for the highest ever power play with curry in he's just a different kind of operator he offers something Scotland didn't have on Wednesday just interesting he has been getting the ball to move both ways in this first over as well so still a bit in in it for him like what he's doing here definitely challenging the stumps of Travis head it's only three runs from the over and that big Wicket Jake Fraser mcer it's five for one well we haven't seen Michael Le Bowl this week has that been a big surprise for you it has I mentioned that earlier when I was on with Ali Evans just he's a sort of player who wants to be involved in everything all the time great Fielder be explosive with the bat and really useful off spin as well wonder if we will see him bowl a couple [Music] today we're loving every minute every second of the atmosphere the vibe the quality of cricket we've seen I think Australia have hugely enjoyed this start to their tour and also with them playing Scotland first it means that officially all those games down in England it's the Australia tour of Scotland and England drifts down the legs side not where you want to bow to head he can score both sides of the wickets and it gets something on it might it even been a wee bit of glove but it runs away for the first boundary yeah was a bit of a freebie really on that occasion Australia don't need any of those brand M Mullen you mentioned he he does mostly Bowl in Odis but conditions up here he does have the ability to also swing the ball both ways best exponents of spin on early for Scotland spin swing oh this one's going to be swung all the way for four more that Fan's going to get a touch oh good piece of Fielding sir the left-handed throw too not sure he's why he's in front of that stand but there was no holding him back back toback boundaries and a big smile on his face now it's what I said before you don't often get the chance to see the austral up close the class of Travis head it's a a really unique opportunity change in the field deep midwicket goes out what's this come off I think it's probably just come off Matthew Cross as it not easy keeping up to the stumps even to someone who only medium pace oh sign there was a feather of an edge been a series that's been played in fantastic spirit between these two sides there's there's such great connections isn't there between Scotland and Australia particularly from a cricketing perspective they'll be hoping for stronger ones after this tour as well diving stop from Safi and Sharif there's been plenty of of Australian Pros who've come over here over the years well and some of them have gone on to have very good careers George Bailey played here at the gra Adam gilchris Andel Justin Langer both at perthshire when they were in their early days Terry Alderman and Kim Hughes at watsonians ed cow at on instant gr Manu and Bob Massie Jason craer Mike hussy was at Fergus Le and I think in general every Australian cricketer younger old who comes up here they seem to love it what's not to love I know I do someone asked me if I was going to move up here the other day I said I wouldn't need another invitation It's a Wonderful country it really is great that some of the players like Adam zamper was able to take his family around and visit a few whiskey distilleries he said he couldn't take them to too many he felt a bit bad for his wife and his kids little bit of movement back in this time and Marsh just picks it up and Pops it to Matthew Cross have you been able to identify what why Scotland quite haven't quite been at their best throughout this week I wondered if if they're a little bit uh almost over ored by the occasion and the buildup to this about being at home and maybe increased expectations whereas at World Cups I think they're often free of those expectations might have played a little part in it in the air and just wide of Michael Le and McMullen thought he had Australia's Captain but leas couldn't even get close to it and it runs away for four the third boundary of the over it's 18 for one a little bit like yesterday with this ball moving about nibbling and about a little bit they're not middling everything this is another one that's skewed off the edge of the bat could easily have fallen more fortunately for Scotland and for Brenda [Music] McMullen we saw there with that Mullen reaction well didn't we that he thought he had his man he thought that there was going to be two in the par play really to defend a total of this which is is well a middling total at best it's actually well below pirate this ground terms of the average scores you're going to have to take early wickets well I just mentioned before about Australia again not quite middling everything but the danger is that the long these two are in together then the more likely it is they're going to start seeing that ball very well and need to get early wickets just saw Curry's career numbers he's a lot of impact hasn't he already in the T20 I game this goes miles up George munsy is the one who's going to have to take it and take it he does it's hurry again he's got them dancing in the crowd and head he now Falls to both openers are back in the hutch well Curry gets head again twice in two attempts that is a huge blow for Scotland to strike George MSY was never going to drop that even if he made it look a little bit more spectacular in the end and he loves it does brag Curry twice that is a pretty good scalp to have 12 of 11 he departs four 18 for two [Music] [Music] [Applause] two big wickets both going to this man he's just got the Golden Arm doesn't he the Midas touch both openers back in the hutch for the second time Travis head departs to the bowling of Brad Curry no so nearly a third all of a sudden Scotland just starting to believe starting to probe away Cameron green the new man to the crease maybe really for the first time apart from yesterday afternoon Scotland can just sense there's something happening well he does bring that X factoring in along with the left arm along with the ability to swing that ball early on Brad Curry he's by the way not doing himself any harm in advertising to the world what he can do good diving stop now he's got them finally inspired playing the style and brand of cricket that we know they can three dots alongside the wicket we talking about Scotland being under expectations under par up to this point does that show you know how well they play now and and how high the bar is set for them if you went back a few years ago and said Scotland would you know seven or eight years ago and said Scotland will score 150 against Australia then you'd be thinking that's great the fact that we're now saying yeah it's it's not really their best I do think says something about how far they've come in the air but wide of midwicket oh there's tension and drama just building up in and around the gra the two t20s in two days remember that unknown quality for Australia maybe just playing on their minds a touch just mentioning before things the balls just not coming off the middle of the bat and Richie barington said right at the top that the conditions don't change much throughout the day the weather is exactly the same as it was earlier and so plenty in it early in these early overs said they need early wickets gee they they'd love a third one that man there again that little bit of shape back in from Curry it's a really good over it's another Wicket taking one for the man from Sussex 19 for two doesn't have Express pace but don't necessarily need Express Pace do you particularly when you're left arm seamer just uses the angle the different angle coming in but it's his his ability to swing the ball and that's why they're having trouble middling it at the moment the Australians with all their class he's a very good bowler very [Music] good big calls need to be made play by Richie barington I don't think he necessarily got his bowling selections and and options right particularly with the underutilization of Chris S yesterday he went with the fifth over to McMullen so three on the bounce for him in the power play and really the pressure started to ease there he didn't go with a third consecutive from Brad Curry you just wonder well he's going to go with McMullen just wonder could he go with another of Curry two the ball is doing something to win this game Scotland they have to take risk well they do and the addition of zafian shareif I know he can be a bit expensive but he's got a lot of experience bowling at the death for Scotland they'll often turn to him I wouldn't be surprised to see him maybe at the latter Bo he's off Mark there is McMullen well is there already sh of what we saw yesterday it was backto back no balls yesterday this time it's a five wides that just eases and alleviates all that pressure that was building up yeah it was a long way there was nothing even Matthew Cross with all his agility and experience behind the stumps he just lost control of that one completely to defend low scores you have to be close to perfect everything has to go your way I just wonder could he think could he have thought about getting Chris o into the game get him in and attack that's a good decision that's not given as a wide it's swung late and Green's given himself a lot of room outside the leg stump I like that call from ire mlan yeah I did too he saw Cameron green backing away B moving as well and uh really well taken by Matt cross as well look at that swing on that ball late fascinating to see green continue to give himself room with the way the ball's moving not sure it's necessarily the best tactic or Target this time gloves the glove work from Cross is a little tardy concedes a bite well that's a thing with this Australian side though to when you've got all the power and the skill that they have still to come you can afford to take a few risks if you're up the order and bat aggressively because you just know you look at the likes of Stoess and David hitting that they've got there in the shed it's a lot of backup and someone is likely to come in and finish the job edged and no Gully in place flies to short third mullan's continuing to cause problems here ball it's moving around corners here melt and which is why I think I would like to see Corry come on for one more over I'm also hoping that we see Chris Soul earlier there's no way I want to see him ball three overs today but while the ball is hooping about like it is in Australia finding the edge one of those May soon stick the reality is quite often they'll they'll stick with the TR and tested retain and Mark W Bowl in the seventh get to the power play being done and then get their Premier left arm spinner on but you have to read and assess the conditions Richie barington will know them well there's no one more experienced in the game here but he has to shuffle his deck of Bowlers in a very clever manner we saw the way Australia so struggled against Soul yesterday they only hit one boundary off him in 18 balls he probably deserved more than in the one Wicket that he got have to use your Trump cards like chrisol edged away and edged away for four not convincing from Marsh but he will get a boundary to close out the fifth it's 29 for [Music] two it's a good power play so far from Scotland Australia have middled very few balls and even though this one will go down as a four there encouragement in there for Scotland's Bowlers if they can keep that ball [Music] moving that's the Australian batting lineup and told implicitly by Andrew McDonald the head coach that there'll be a lot of flexibility to that it will depend entirely upon the scenario and the situation just the two Bowlers used so far you almost never see this to be honest in a top level T20 International both openers going a ball three unchanged that's a sign of just how much the ball is moving around and it's it's a gamble isn't it from Richie barington he's saying right for us to win this game we need probably the man who's looked our most threatening Bowler all week to get us three in the par plate yeah I like this move they do have other options when the ball's not swinging a bit later on you see I think the the express pace of Chris Soul comes into its own May the experience of Sherif he can be a very canny bowler mid on up in the circle and Mitchell marish smashes it well miles over his head oh what a big hit this is that's got to be what 90 95 M or something to that effect he's a big giant man with broad shoulders and flashes out a long way well he's middle that one Lenny he hasn't middled much but as soon as that finds the me of the bat well boy oh boy he doesn't even break into a drop of sweat this is why it's a gamble isn't it cuz you're certainly seeing the same Bowl be utilized for 18 consecutive deliveries from both ends the batter's got used to the Rhythm and the pace the ball will start to swing less towards this stage it's definitely a gamble you can understand why barrington's taking it we're not criticizing that but just wonder if he doesn't get a wicket here or Australia even though they're not ahead of the rate are they very comfortable in the chase I think they're always going to feel confident but I still don't mind taking this gamble at all I think if if they hadn't bowled him here we would have been sitting here wondering well oh what if they tried him for one more you're telling us a bit about Mitchell Marsh and his his journey as Australian Captain who he's I think by his own admission gun from someone who he didn't quite know why but didn't seem to be liked by the Australian public to becoming one of their very favorite Sons now well I think you know it's a thing when you've got a famous surname it puts a bit of a Target on your back and his brother Shawn caued some of the same as well but did did always feel sorry for him another big hit and green now getting in in the act that could be a lost ball this gamble of barington well it's not paying off the second maximum of the over the Australian fans they're outnumbered they're loving [Music] that yeah just more of the same Another Western Australian stand up with big long Limbs and a lot of power just a really clean strike through the line of the ball she loves it got to get myself one of those jumpers Ling sunglasses too Australian shance up on the crow there's a good Australian contingent here in Adam PS that live here py down in London too somewhere taking the train journey up this morning the 600 a.m. to get in just in time the sixth over which can so often be a critical one is very heavily going Australia's we yeah the last one before the Fielding restrictions are lifted that occasion Curry saw backing away green backing away and ball just followed him so he wasn't able to get full purchase they've had their money's worth of entertainment the ticket prices I thought were really good for this match as well cheap for juniors to come in they certainly got their money's worth all three games it's going to end the par play which maybe just Australia have edged thanks to that sixth over it's 45 for two [Music] power 45 you can see there Scotland actually done quite a good job of containing Australia earlier picking up two wickets in the power play but when you look at the top of that Worm for Scotland where it all fell apart and the way that that worm is just escalating now just uh on its way up and unless Scotland can do something special it's going to pass that purple line very soon maybe this man can stop it Chris Soul he was the best you would have to say of Scotland's Bowlers in the second t20i yesterday and uh we've had a change in the commentary box Ali Evans Scotland International is back here with me what have you made of this s yeah it's been a really positive start from Scotland uh thus far Brad Curry doing what Brad Curry does using that angle swinging the ball to his Advantage it's the best Scotland have managed thus far in the the in the power play first first game there was that Blitz Creek wasn't there highest ever score in the power Play3 for one Australia but 55 for two yesterday so restricting them for under 50 runs for the first time hopefully Scotland can take the momentum into the the middle part of the Innings Oh short and dispatched with disdain by Marsh that's the power he doesn't mind it he's growing up in Perth where the pitchers are quick and the bowlers are quick as well yeah we know Soul has pace and real Pace he bowls about more than 150 km an hour but we have not seen any reward from any bowler going short throughout this series while they've gone Pace on the ball Marsh gets himself in a great position he sits back rocks back waiting for it and bang another maxman goes short again this time Marsh unable to get all of it pulled back a bit on the pace a little that time so yeah slightly different line as well it's something the Australians have done really well this this week is when they've taken Pace off the ball and they've rolled their fingers across it they've gone wide of the off stump and made the Scottish bers have to drag it leg size something that Scotland probably haven't done enough in the first two games apart from Soul utilized that very well yesterday Mel so I think it's a tactic that he can bring into his repertoire for the rest of his Innings well there might be a little mixup here if he gone to the other end there might have been a chance for a run out Cameron green he was desperate for two he wanted to get back on strike Captain michell Marsh had other ideas luckily for them Michael Le to has a rocket arm through it to the Keeper's end other end here we are immediately wants to touch and go touch and go Mi send him back pretty quickly Ali with all the experience that you have how would you be trying to bow to this pair both monstrously tall and Powerful batters what would you be aiming to do yeah I I think it's trying to take it away from their Arc which we which we've discussed and not allow him to settle into to one particular Pace I think short is fine we've seen rewards Marcus stus Cameron green that's great effect but you nearly need to be taking the ball off the pace off the ball to to do that plan and make the Batters reach for the ball now there have been singles and a six a good over for Australia to seven it's 56 for two I think your your other option Mel going back to your question is is to go really really full you know we we we talk about Yorkers being at the death but a good ball especially T20 cricket we have five out any time is is going to to a death plan being a little bit unpredictable something you could like you have those skills but each bowler needs to stick what is their best quality there's just that confidence in the Australian side anytime there's a threat of a little wobble a wicked or two falling I just like the Terminator they keep coming at you and they will not stop new change new bowler coming on for the change it's safian Sheree first time we'll see him Bowl in this series what can we expect Deli yeah a lot of subtle soft variations from safian He he'll roll his sinkers over the ball both ways he's got split finger delivery he can also then go big changes of pace with a back of a hand and a knuckle ball not sure he'll go that straight away he's got a tow crushing Yorker but I think for now he'll just be trying to use the surface to his effect oh and there's a shout they think he got a little feather on that but think the cheers turn to groans it was a rather late call too there on the wide was it the distraction appeal where they go it's a it's a catch just to just to hope that it won't be gold wide well what's interesting about this is is umpire Ryan mil he has to have thought about it he has to have thought about it because otherwise he's giving it a wide straightway there must be a noise or a sound or something and there's nothing else anywhere near the ball other than the bat so to to give that as a wide with that long delay he's thinking something so I I'm trying to work out what possibly could be it's either a wide or it isn't and he knows straight away well Safi and Shere wasn't particularly enamored of that call that one's just whipped away heard you talking before just about the contribution that shareif has made over the years perhaps just that experience might come to the four he can be a little bit expensive at times can't he well but I think that's the nature of coming for the overs that he's had to bowl you know for many many years he was he would open the bowling and then bow the death over so two times in the games where you want your Wicket taker there but also times in the games where the Batters are looking to Target it one's whipped away and it's going to be four as well so Marsh not slowing down doesn't matter who's bowling to him yeah Marsh staying still we know he likes to Target the leg sides he can pick it up there safian doesn't quite get the purchase once off the surface once again Bing cross fingers the little bit full and Marsh into his AR half a bat face on it it's all he needs speeds away to the fin leg boundary four more runs tries to play across the line again almost slips that's a difficulty isn't it with no not having other Express Pace Bowlers aside from Chris soul and when the ball's not moving anymore is just having those other clever little variations or tricks to to be able to summon something out of this pitch yeah and and the length is so key under the line obviously but we look at the ball before safan slightly too full it doesn't grip that little bit of a half a yard further back as we see again exactly the same that length there we talk about hitting the top of the stumps hitting the thigh pad sort of height from there that's the most difficult length if there's any hold in the surface to be able to extend your hands through also again we want a ball straight he is doing ball cuz he wants the stumps in play but we've seen throughout the Australian bowling attack when they've gone wide and made the Batters reach for it that's actually where they brought about more success so can of be Braven look to throw on out there and make the Batters make Cameron green MIT reach for the ball reach for the ball get outside there line is that going to be him small WS gets his hands through this one quickly but doesn't really get hold of it the problem is for Scotland I just again don't have enough runs on the board and that they have to take wickets so it's not just about containing them you feel they they have to make regular breakthroughs and already this partnership is getting very dangerous yeah they don't they don't win this game unless they ball Australia out it's as simple as that if if Australia get anywhere near bat in their 20 they will get across the line so that's going to be the challenge for Scotland is how can they keep breaking those Partnerships bring the new batters to the crease we've seen it's tough to get going as a new batter well that one's in the air but it's Fallen safely a good comeback from shareif after that boundary eight overs gone at 65- two [Music] sun is finally starting to peep through the clouds the m is burning off there coup of big overs from Australia already [Music] you can see a couple of monster overs there from Australia there might be a few more to come unless Scotland find a way to break [Music] through speaking of breaking through a bit of a better view here now finally the sunshine we were [Music] promised don't scare away Melvin the after sun will be out in Edinburgh tomorrow we've had 20 25 seconds of sun Mark watt into the attack and first ball he's asking Mitch Marsh a few questions already yeah he's going to be a key contributor wasn't his best day yesterday Mark wasn't able to find the consistency that he normally does if Scotland are going to have a chance here they're going to have to rely heavily on this we saw Adam zamper through the middle create some real pressure in the first Innings Mark W will be needing to do the same I find him a he's like what I would call or what I like to call a fun bow of Mark wat I think it does him a dis service to call him slow left arm Orthodox cuz he's not particularly Orthodox I like to call him left arm surprise the variations that he brings Richie barington another great stop there and what we've not really seen from Mark what he's worked on a lot the last couple of years adding to that jack of all trades is actually the ability to swing the ball normally does it normally does it when he opens the balling which he has done from Scotland and he's done round the world in various franchise tournaments but the ball can reverse and he can sometimes get the ball to swing and that could be a real surprise package for the for the Batters that's the thing about him sometimes it does look like he's bowling medium pce swing and we talk a lot about the where he delivers the ball from but also the way he uses the width of the crease he can angle the ball in when he's coming around the Wicket oh there he is there is a surprise ball from Mark W but he's he's just lost the radar yeah this uh that's a bit of a trademark of his he says Tred to rush him Mr Mar goes to play it but says thank you'll take the extra run extra delivery and that's going to be another four past the diving wat so this little tussle and that occasion one by that man there yeah bludgeons straight from Mitchell marches did quite little bit of width that's all he needed just B that fourth stump line and M says thank you very much for staying very leg side of the ball his hands to access it not the worst ball in the world but on this pitch it's gone for four Soul comes in to retrieve the ball as it's been thrown back in Du that wide what's got one more to go it was actually Cameron green getting the ball past him on that occasion he's taking his time this time gets underneath this one and throws everything at it that has gone miles and Andrew Leonard Lenny with the Fielding oh one of Ireland's finest he bowls leg spin he Fields the ball but finishes the over with a six Australia 79 for2 as we watch this again Mark had to B the extra delivery because of that wide goes a little bit to full balls that one step length that all Spinners want to avoid and Andrew he's hidden around there somewhere the sun's come out so he's find some Shad to to protect that twed of his but unfortunately Mark W not finishing the over how he wanted to the last finish him with a six another wonderful strike and we're going to see another change of bowling Jack Jarvis coming in from the nursery end didn't quite have the outing he wanted in the first game but another opportunity for him to show his skills very promising young career Jack jvis good ball first up as well from Jarvis it's been a difficult challenging series for him but I'm sure it'll be one that he'll look back on and feel that he's learned a lot Ali 100% you know he's kind of burst onto the scene initially with the European cricket league that runs in in in Spain and around Europe it's be made his Mark as a batter initially b a little bit but he's worked really hard on his bowling to to try and gain an extra yard gain those skills and he's been a successful start to his International career and he's got him he's got a wicket and it's the big one of marsh well it's been a tough series for Jack jais but that brings a smile to his face cleans him up and the change in Bowling has worked Marsh has to depart yeah brilliant from Jarvis all he's done is coming and hit the length he wanted to he talked about how he struggled in that first game and he went the distance there once again that line outside off stump batters trying to drag it on this slow grain surface to the leg side not being able to pick up the pace of the ball and he's absolutely delighted Jack Jarvis the Scot has have gone quiet is that the spark they needed Mitchell March goes for 31 Australia 79 for three [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] well they keep coming at you you send Mitch Marsh back out walks Tim David one of the most brutal hitters in the game but Scotland will take much heart from that what a moment for Jack Jarvis yeah brilliant for the young man look at the smile on his face he he had a tough outing the other day and it was interesting M Mar first two balls went at him hard so really pleased for the young man walks at him first up Tim David won't want to let the youngster get on top of him he'll come back for a second safely I'm just wondering M obviously with how his first game against Australia on Wednesday and whether Australia sort of targeted him as a as a bowler to look to to access because though Mitch Marsh has been a little bit circumspect when it's been there to hit he's hit it but he's he's he's nerd around but those very first two balls from Jack Jarvis he went really hard at them and then Tim David already shuffling down the pitch so maybe this is the bowler look to Target but that brings risks and that brings the bowler into the game so the next these three deliveries be really interesting to see how Australia approached them swiping across the line again getting all of it is that is that pretty much a tactic of looking and saying well this is this is a new Young this is a young bowler pretty new to the international scene we're going to take him out of the game possibly or might be a horses for coures a situation depending on conditions they might be thinking well look we know what the pace of Soul could bring we know the left arm of Curry we know safan sharif's experienced ability to roll his fingers off this is the scene where we feel in these conditions is going to provide us the most hitable balls um and we're going to look to take him on again just not quite middling it once he does look out wherever you're sitting here at the grain talking to some of the neck Bowlers from Scotland who were were bowling at Tim David in the Nets one of them said to me boy do he hit it hard he's quite entertaining to watch in the Nets he is Australia's six machine he does absolutely Wallop it he's such an intimidating Force he's sitting there 6'4 built like a bricks a brick house so that in itself could be really intimidating down the ground again it wasn't the most convincing shot this time from Green and it falls safely it's an important over for Javis a wicket coming from it seven runs after 10 it's 86 [Music] for3 he thought it was in the game there for a minute Jack Jarvis hits the top of the bat hits the splice B safian Shri comes scampering around to try and get they can't quite get it they'll need wickets soon Scotland SC Australia 86 for [Music] three a tough task for Scotland containing this Australia side but they have made inroads see in the back of Travis head Mitch Marsh in particular two wickets to Curry and that Wicket to Jack Jarvis wonderful first over played in the first T20 was really smacked around a bit and was left out for the second match so good for the youngster to see him take a wicket on return Chris soul is back just getting the ball to nip in a little bit too chrisol yeah I think straighten with a pace off delivery running his fingers over just running it back at the batter inim David we know likes to set himself the key here for for soul is to be able we talked about yesterday M when you bowl at that raw Pace it's a real real asset but what also brings in is those Pace off deliveries then themselves then make it even harder at a time because there's a big drop in Pace if you're only bowling sort of 80 82 miles an hour you don't get that same that same disguise that same ability to to add confusion to the B again Chris Soul really has taken this to the Australians how much has he brought with him to uh the Scotland side and the and the pace that he's been able to develop really in the the past so 18 months two years well he's always been elol quick I mean he's got got the quickest fast muscle fibers you'll see you should see him across the The Outfield he is rapid everything he does is rapid so the pace has never been the thing about Chris the thing that Chris is that's really brought in the last 18 months two years is is the control that comes with that CU bowling quick is one thing but if you don't have in control manual where you can actually construct an over or construct a spell of bowling and swing the ball then it doesn't really have the effect especially when you get to this top level see green losing his he's the long spikes out there Le the long sprigs but that that that's been it is the ability to add control to the pace is what's made him so dangerous and made him such a wicket take he has now become the spearhead of the Scotland attack he does get this one though green that's gone it's felt like a little while but it's another six to Green who's taken up the mantle now once again a little bit if feel young kid delighted he has a chance to throw the ball but once again of Scotland try as soon as they feel they got a little bit of control coming back Australia counter punch Counterattack straight away C is sitting there waiting for it just the swivel picks it up clears it to the next there another maxman it's the short ball again isn't it it's really got to be a short good short ball to trouble the Australians they're so used to it Green's another one he's played a lot at the wacker we've talked a lot about using this surface and they've just been this in between length too much they they're either when you're using the surface you've got to get it waist height just above the stumps or you have to get it head height that in between sitting in the pitch and these Scottish surfaces that's where it sits up and has to be hit that's that's almost like a throw down length where we say thank you very much the ability when it's waist tight you can't step into the ball when it's head tight you can't get on top of it and they just haven't got those lengths enough today Scotland that is waste height it's protection in the Deep so it'll just be a single to finish that over productive one nine runs coming from it and after 11 it's 95 for three [Music] just uh some brutal hitting great to see the kids being so involved that little boy is going to be talking about this for [Music] mons glorious Sunshine here at the Grange now and fitting too that this series should reach its conclusion in sunshine because it really has been a bright moment in Scotland Cricket have Australia here putting up a good fight at the moment it's a good tussle do you think we can call it officially a heatwave in Scotland now now we this this sun has been here for 10 whole minutes you got Andre Leonard out the frontting your video he can't believe it Safi and shareif bowling again and this time first ball dispatched and done so convincingly as well yeah it's that length again isn't it it's just not quite good at high enough these Australia batters are too good from that length it's not enough grip in the surface to be able to get it there you need to smash it in there again soon as it gets to chest tight it's too easy safan he's got to go slightly Fuller so he's hitting to hit the pocket keep hitting the pocket make the Batters reach that length or go out the head that in between is shown across the three three games there's no value whatsoever Tim David already pled 13 runs little bit Pace off there and as a result not able to get it away the problem is it's just you have to be on every single ball with the Australian Scotland have to be at their best the entire time anything any little variation off the Mark whether it's Pace whether it's length whether it's line they're going to punish it yeah the margin fera is is so small when you talking at this sort of level but but that's that's the exposure these Scotland Bowlers need they have the skills we have seen that over the last couple of years it's just the consistency of bringing them to the floor so there we again that length there the moment that we have seen an Australia batter try to pull that length from just outside off stomp which was s of pocket height we saw Mitchell Marsh drag on there we've seen a miss time pull from Cameron green who's just gone backto back boundaries so the thing for me is that we need to make sure that we're hitting the right areas we know we want to take Pace with the ball the plans are there they're no different to the Australian Bowlers but it's just the ability to hit the right spot and use the surface to the best of your ability 100 has come up in this over as well stopped by shareif strer Crossing that 100 Mark in the 12th over they have made improvements at least having the best power play bowling to Australia but the problem is Australia have just done so much better at at forming Partnerships yeah and that's to be expected we we know the quality of of the batters that are coming in say Tim David coming in at five has had not had a huge amount to do in this series thus far and it's an intimidating thing but that's why I want to expose ourselves to this level oh I was just about to say a more effective bouncer but it's uh it's too high it's pretty impressive if you can score up wide against either Cameron green or Tim David because you practically need a ladder just to go up and talk to them face to face I do anyway about to say that even I have to look up at both of them and it's not many but I don't mind a wide like that that that wide it's to a concerted plan it's not quite executed but you'd rather Miss there than where they have been missing cuz you might just get away with that but as soon as you get it Miss sort of chest high you're in trouble well managed to get Bat on Ball on that occasion he gave himself an awful lot of room green was a better full delivery I think he saw him going yeah and and this is probably safian best ball is as yor earlier we were chatting about what the different plans are in and that is the other plan is is almost go to your death death options which are hitting the toes hitting the heels trying to get under the under the bat swing and it is a risk reward but I had like to have seen safy go to that a little bit more cuz it's such a strength of his goes full again and keeps him to a single again nope it's a misfield so they're going to come back for a second finding it very hard to contain these AR austan 12 overs gone 106 [Music] for3 yeah it's just not quite with Scotland day so far glimpses as ever as you see Brad Curry another very good fielder we saw him take one of the Highlight catches of last year's Vitality blast on the boundary last year but austr Australia just whenever Scotland have shown a little bit of resilience have immediately counter punched and currently are strolling home to another victory [Music] how do Scotland stop this Australian Juggernaut and gone back to Mark wat she like this plan Ali it's just looking a bit too cruy at the moment for the Aussies yeah well Mark w we know he's been one of the outstanding Bowlers regularly Scotland over a number of years now he likes to bowl the tough overs and he doesn't get much tougher than this it's not been his series last couple of games with anyone can make something happen it's Mark the problem is see there the equation 44 of 47 Australia can get there by just knocking it around at the moment and wait for a bad ball to put away and need wickets and very quickly yeah and that's the thing it's it's so difficult when you don't have that scoreboard pressure to be able to to put the Australian batters under under under the pump a little bit they know they can absorb a couple of overs of of decent bowling they can tick it around tick it around and then they can counter punch and go again it's just not been the platform to be able to Bow a Target this Defender b w is just adjusting his field at the moment he's brought a man who is down a deep Square leg to deep midwicket move the man deep mid Wicket further straighter as well he's expecting the big hit here from Tim David or signaling it anyway he's basically saying to Tim David you can paddle and ramp all you want you've got all that space now pretty much from just behind Square all the way behind the bat not sure that that's something that Tim DAV tends to go to but we shall see he did go for the big hoik it's just dribbled off the bottom of the bat it's a good over so far from what creating a little bit of pressure but wanted to eventuate in something brings out the reverse and it's a mighty one too brilliantly played by Green you could see what Mark wat was doing and he responds with another m Mo brilliant just brilliant look at that he identified that he's gone well I'm going to get put the protection right in front of the bat I don't expect either you to behind Square Cameron green goes okay I'll I'll show you how it's done Mark R smile has a Brilliance and Cameron green moves on into the 40s and it'll be allegedly single to finish their cruising home Australia just a little bit too easy again and after 13 overs it's 115 for [Music] three 15 [Music] [Music] and there we see the Australian worm inching its way past that Scottish purple line the Scots early took wickets they b a little bit of pressure but Cameron green has come to the crease and rested all momentum back Australia's way Jack Jarvis man to get his first Wicket of the series getting rid of the captain michell Marsh but since Tim David's comeing they've built another platform here Australia if scotlands are trying to wrestle an unlikely first first victory in this series first Victory against Australia they're going to have to do something special another change of bowling Jack Jarvis comes back in at the nursery end as we invite Andrew Leonard back into the commentary box very good afternoon to you Ali good afternoon everyone for Australia well being honest they're cantering home they are outclassing Scotland today as they have done throughout the series and for Scotland they are going to be looking at this match this one in particular really all three of their batting efforts and they're going to look back in anger yeah they're going to Ru missed opportunities um they they haven't showcased the Brilliance that they have in it Brandon MC mullen's obviously been The Stand Out George msay has shown elements of the power that he has but apart from that no one's gone with them if they had won 80 on the board all of a sudden as this one's driven down the ground for four more the feather of a finger that Jarvis didn't get on it it' be well 69 then to win or sorry sorry 59 to win after the last 40 balls and there's very much a game on if you get a wicket or two instead quality of green and Tim David it's guiding Australia home yeah scoreboard pressure is uh is they see the uh the Scottish fans getting into it scoreboard pressure is is one of the biggest factors that comes into it and just no point in this series of Scotland manag to apply that be another T20 i50 a second for Cameron green he's still very early in this format it's come at a good clip too he's tall he's strong he's powerful he's a wonderful bowler as well and now he's added 50 off just 33 deliveries what an allrounder he is yeah and he does it in all formats we've seen him do it in the test team when he's been required he's still learning learning his craft so watch out cricketers around the world this guy has got a platform to go on and build year on year he can hit 360 we know the size of the man can hit down the ground but he can do the Finesse game as well and with that ability to bowl those hard overs he had such a balance this Australian team when we miss this time from Tim David yeah and and obviously we've spoken about the balance of the Scotland side a lot lenning over the course of the last 3 days but when you've got someone like a Cameron green who can bowl you four overs easily and also then bat in the top four that gives you such a luxury to be able to find that balance and and it's such a rarity to have in your S I think there's signs that that Scotland could find that balance that they have all round options they just consistently gone with fewer batters than we all feel that they require what an extraordinary stroke this is the modern T20 game in a nutshell he hasn't really hit it here on purpose but it's well a samurai uppercut or something to that effect over the left shoulder of Matthew Cross it's going to run away for four more yeah everything they've attempted so far in this series Australia have gone their way almost uh don't know how you describe that that shot Jack Jack Jarvis smile young man there you go there's not much you could do about that you've executed your plan he managed to find the edge he's not going where he meant to and Jack jamas we talk about who that Jack Jamis that could be that next round for Scot and he's not had the chance to show what he can do with the bat but he's a clean striker of the ball and he will certainly have learned a lot with ball in hand in this series I think he's one that has a huge amount of potential very high ceiling this one's been M hit but it's there in the gap between the two fields it's going to race away for another boundary it's four more to close out an expensive 14th over it's 130 for three yeah I think there's two types of Miss hits Lenny I think there's a a normal person's Miss hit and there's a Tim David Miss hit we thought for a very quick second there there might be somebody in lcking the boundary but one bounce for Tim David races on and pretty much get Australia home is forbidden at all times including at the end of [Applause] the seeing a little bit of the best of Cameron green he is well he scored all around the ground isn't he and uses those long levers even when markw got the 25 26 y out he reverse sweeps it all the way for six range of Strokes a quality of ball striking Allied to his near 140 km perh bowling well got almost the complete package there's a lot of excitement about him when he came onto the scene this one is ramped up towards cross who can't quite hold on oh well Chris S would have deserved a breakthrough by a matter of inches cross is denied yeah he's a brilliant glovan Matthew Cross has been hidden away in associate Cricket but got were the best hands in the world there you can see him initially he didn't quite track the he didn't quite track the ball flight and he could have took a step in and by the time he readjusted and and he scrambled back and he tried to get they couldn't quite get the diving Chris all he toiled and toiled and toiled and not quite got his rewards today thus far just 19 required from here for Australia this goes almost to the heavens it's gone so far it's going to be a catching opportunity and it's held on to there is the Just Desserts the just reward for Chris Soul it's another T20 o Wicket for him and a bit of late joy for the Scottish fans yeah finally got the length right with that slower ball we were talking about either need to get it head height to get top of the stumps there gets it top of the stumps the when you do that what happens the batter is they can't get their hands to the ball they almost double hit it goes hard into this Edinburgh Blue Sky Jack Jarvis settles himself underneath it brilliant catch Australia now move on lose their fourth Wicket they're 131 for four [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] number look one of the all-r Brigade is going to come in at number six Aaron Hardy you have to say if if they can get over the line you'd still expect them to here with just 19 needed and six wickets in hand plenty of time to do it this the start to this tour for Australia has TI basically every box everyone's contributed they've given a cap to Young Cooper Connelly for the first time it's the outside edge good from Soul again the runs and the wickets they've been shared around there's been well basically every single box ticked isn't there for Australia yeah if you if you could have written a scripts before arriving touchdown in the UK this had been it I think previously we've talked about these games being a bit of a whack about these tour games but Australia is coming and they've meant business they know the importance of a setting a marker every time to the they come to the UK not just in England but in Scotland but also using this opportunity for people to try and cement places in the team and they've been brilliant 'll get off The Mark with a nicely worked single down to long on it's kind of been the inverse for Scotland there's been the occasional flashes of individual Brilliance but collectively where would you rate them out of 10 what are they up sort of four five six out of 10 at best maybe oh they' be hugely disappointed they' be hugely disappointed they they they've not been anywhere near the team we know they can be and they knew the challenge it it was going to be to take on this Australian side but a bit of context they've not played really any T20 cricket since that World Cup and all of a sudden coming in against one of the world's best you're straight into a birth of fire so my biggest disappointment is that we knew they weren't going to be able to compete at every game they would have loved to but the fact that they they've made they've not learned anything it's always been the same mistakes throughout the whole series so for me that will be where I'm most frustrated Soul has been one of the bright lights for Scotland continues to cause problems doesn't he just has that bit of X Factor Scotland so sorely need with the ball in hand 15 Bal 1 34 for four those same mistakes you're referring to has it been bat and ball I think so yeah I think it's been been across the board you know we've we've seen changes we' SE big changes five changes from game one four to game two four changes from game two to game three you know so to be able to implement those learnings is is pretty hard but they just haven't got their lengths consistent like with the ball and batting wise they've lost wickets at the wrong time in every game I think that Marcus tus and Josh unless the Centurion from yesterday haven't batted yet chose the depth the quite crazy depth really that Australia possess Cooper C A Fine batter as well six Bowers used still nothing for Michael Lee kill he fing around the Outfield with an angry head in him I suspect really for Scotland it's probably back to the drawing board it was such an opportunity this week to take the biggest scalp in their history but ultimately again despite you know occasional moments I Haven quite shown it what's ke to get on with it as he always is asking the umire to get into place as he comes back into the attack and he's reverse swept away for four really good stroke four more to Australia yeah classic reverse sweep from Hardy these days we see the paddles we see the Scoops see but I love seeing a mat play classic reverse sweep gets down low gets his hands up for a snap of those rits to get it behind Square nice and still and he gets himself the first boundary of the ters Hardy yeah they've really the way in which they've played what particularly in the second and third T20 o has impressed me we all know how dangerous he can be how brilliant a bowler he is but it's almost as though they've gone after him they they see him as one of the strong links so they're they're taking the game to Scotland's Premier spinner and this is gone a long way up can hair's get there no he can't oh dear what can't quite believe it Kenny he was certain he'd seen the back of green maybe just a little bit slow in picking up the exact trajectory of the ball could cross have got there with the gloves well Matthew Cross would tell you when you got that helmet on particularly trying to find the ball in the sky when it's gone straight up ha he was caught on his heels and immediately with his weights go back he couldn't transfer forward and get his momentum into the ball and this is now double pain for what he will be absolutely ticking he has bowled his heart out as he always does and then having thought he created the opportunity Mark Cameron green goes it's going to be my day thank you very much six downtown how often do you see this the moments after a drop chance for a near miss the next ball just goes all the way great Swift footwork from Cameron green quite awesome the power that he possesses and now they're just one Blow Away try to end it this over what a day he's had three wickets with the ball and he gets to 60 with the bat a true all around performance yeah it's been the Cameron show today he's been excellent he's taking wickets at important times and when there was early wickets from Scotland and they felt like they were getting this crowd into it him and the captain Mich Mars calmed things down and then have took it upon himself to bat through this Innings will be a couple to level the scores and Australia they're on the brink of a 3-0 series Victory 16 have been bold Scotland haven't had any answers Australia 149 for four [Music] [Music] real Delight in the camp for Australia enjoyed their time off the pitch here in Scotland and they put in three quite brilliant performances on it yeah Scotland have been a wee bit under par he cannot take away from Australia's excellence and just shown why they're whatever the format one of the best sides in the world yeah cool Cal and Collective never really had to get out of third gear we saw the the blitz cre didn't we in the first game with Mitchell Marsh and Travis head quality they have but apart from that it's been controlled aggression it's been reading the situ situation and just making sure that they're always ahead of the game and Scotland haven't had the answers to come back and it's going to be a comfortable 3-n victory in this series between Scotland and Australia and there it is a glorious cover drive to seal the win in some fashion in an Embrace between hardy and green who has been the star of the show today the Western Australian allrounder what today he's had 62 not out next to his name to go with 3 for 35 Australia they've been near perfect really throughout these three matches Scotland are a fine side but they have been outclassed by a wonderful Australian unit 3-0 will be the series Victory towards the tourists and they will head down South of the Border with a real jig in their step the Scotland leg of this tour is over and Australia they're the deserving 3-0 Champions yeah they never really got into this series Scotland they flashes of what they can do but they couldn't do it in any sort of meaningful consistent manner Richie barington and as Captain and dog watch them as coach will go away they'll reflect they'll learn as they always do they'll take this experience away the lack of T20 cricket this will be a learning that they cannot get at any other time and going into what will be a long busy winter schedule for them Scotland will have L not that man Brad Curry came out some impetus in the second and third Innings taking early wickets as he always does but Australia whenever they felt Scotland would give it coming back into it they shut the door and took the sniff away Australia comfortable Three N winners here yeah they have been quite brilliant I have to say for me for all that Scotland have been under par Australia have played so so well remember coming in for their first Internationals in a couple of months since the T20 World Cup but so many of their players in an around other events plenty out at Major League cricket and warm handshakes and camaraderie between these two sides there's a lovely bond between these two groups of players they got to know each other particularly well out in the Caribbean staying on the same islands and I think this is hopefully a sign of things to come who know maybe one day we won't see Scotland get to have a game down on Australian soil but I don't think it'll be long before Mitchell Marsh will ask Cricket Australia to get his men back here to Edinburgh in particular they've loved every second of this tour what's not to love in the September Sun shine a 3-0 series Victory Ali you can't help but argue they've deserved all three of the matches yeah absolutely they've been the better team and they've been the better team comfortably I think we we keep talking about did Scotland get the balance of their side right throughout this series every one of the games they went with an extra bowler seeing if they that be able to wrestle momentum back that way but time and time again they'd have a reasonable start on the power play and they would just come unstuck in that middle area middle part of the Innings not not being able to rotate the strike or keep the boundary High CL C enough bowling wise Scotland they weren't consistent with their lengths they would they recognize needed to use the surface as the Australia seamers did or seam took wickets throughout the course of the series but whereas Australia were able to smash that length getting their bounces nice and high hitting the top of the St Scotland just couldn't find those lengths on regularity giving those freebies allowing the Australian batters to open their arms and ultimately that's been the difference for me though Cricket the winner very much here in Edinburgh it's hopefully a sign of plenty more of these kinds of Tours to come and what was Ireland's loss unable to hold host [Music] Australia Scotland they have gained and profited from that for a series to remember I think it's been outstandingly well organized off the field the cricket Scotland staff and all the volunteers dozens of volunteers have put their hands up to help put the series on in real grand style and even though we've had some rather Scottish weather at points it ends in glorious Sunshine as the second best side in the world in this format remember the 50 over world champions they are but ranked second in the t20i format Pro far too good for the 13th ranked Scottish side and they will learn an awful lot from it not least the value of big contributions both individually and from a partnership perspective and yet again despite those wickets for curry there was no way into the contest with only 150 to defend for Scotland no never never got into it never had the platform to build any pressure even though they took early wickets we see Brad Curry once again two in that power play he was brilliant at top Brandon M Mullen manag to get every little bit of swing and see out the new ball as he always does keep up the stumps really difficult but from that point on they couldn't do it Chris Soul came in and charged in as he always does Jack Jarvis at least a wicket to his name after the trials and tribulations of the first game but ultimately four wickets was never enough they were going to have to bow Australia out and Australia get over the line comfortably and again Ali look at the Partnerships 61 and 52 two more 50 plus Partnerships for Australia five in total in the series for Scotland not one their highest partnership for 44 so that is the tail of the tape Australia taking a very comfortable and confident and really impressive Victory they've been exemplary in all three disciplines with bat ball and particularly in the field some magical moments there but don't go anywhere too far will of the post series presentation and plenty of analysis on the backs side of this break we'll leave you with the news for the moment that Australia there are the 3-nil series champions as they take this match by six wickets [Music] that's Co [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] wish [Music] just one step [Music] take m [Music] [Music] well welcome back to the quite beautiful gr Club grounds here in Edinburgh it is a picture perfect postcard finish really isn't it to the series in sunshine after a couple of very gray days and a delighted Australian side we see that they've really enjoyed it think that's Adam zampa's Young one there who's well showing it he might be able to bowl pretty well in years to come Andrew Leonard here with you alongside Ali Evans the the Scotland International Ali don't want to dwell too much on on the the difficulty on the pitch for Scotland what what about this series as a whole off the pitch the importance of it for I suppose Cricket in in the sport it national Consciousness and and just to have a side of the the quality of Australia here in Edinburgh yeah I think it's been an absolutely outstanding Festival of cricket we we don't get enough of it in Scotland I think when we get these big countries coming from around the world we show that we can put on an event the fact we've sold out all three days the fact we've had kids coming in fact we're doing it alongside the start of a new football soccer season over here as as well as all the other back of the Olympics par Olympics just on with these big sport events start of the NFL season just around the corner yet people are coming to watch cricket and it's because now people know it's a destination for Cricket long are the days where it's oh just tacked on to to to an England tour or we're going to send an aside this is now a place where these big countries want to come and play cricket because they know they'll be looked after they know the quality of cre be good and know the the impact that they can make to the global game we all know how difficult it was for for every cricketing country in the world during the co pandemic and it was even more accentuated those problems for the associate Nations because you the australas the indias the englands and South Africa still had the big budgets to be able to put on a bubble and host these Series so New Zealand were here for a couple of games in 2022 just postco but since then really this has definitely been the biggest occasion in Scottish Cricket on Scottish soil for many a year they have ICC men's Cricket World Cup League to which is giving them a a regular and high quality diet of of of associate cricket and those Odis are are very important in terms of finding that pathway through to the next 50 over World Cup and hopefully we'll see more and more T20 series come off the back of them but but how are Cricket Scotland going to go about getting more opportunities more fixtures like today going forward well I think first and foremost on the back of the co pandemic we saw a huge badlock backlog and scheduling although the bigger countries could put their bubble Cricket on which which was at the time a real blessing that it kept a lot of people going that we're coming to the we're coming to the other side of that backlog both from a bilateral series point of view but not that just a world a test test cricket championship the the World Cups the T20 World Cups so coming out the back of that it gives us an opportunity now to get some back to some normality of the the future tours program and it's really important now that Scotland had the opportunity to build into that fdp uh we have a new cycle of ICC funding that that started last year year and and with that with the increased involvement of star sports broadcasting around the world that that money trickles down so we have shown that we can host it now so it's it's about the opportunity to to get ahead of the game and get on that FTP to uh Carousel yeah absolutely nearly getting ready for the Post series presentation as the young zamp is entertaining let's take a look at at some of the action we've seen the wickets will start with forl and Brad Curry was was so impressive that catch from McMillan was a Sun leaping like that salmon that backward point when those two early wickets fell the first one Jake Fraser mcer soon after followed by this one of Travis head Scotland felt as though they were somewhat in the contest yeah and and early wickets in the last two games since Brad Curry has come in has has been a a real Shining Light the problem has then been taking wickets through the middle when the ball stops swinging when the British conditions the Scottish conditions can't be utilized being able to then find ways to make it a difficult surface to bat on Jack Jarvis honestly really really tough first outing for Australia in the first game really pleased for him to come back in and and hit the ground running you can see how much it meant for him finding the length we said they didn't find enough throughout this series yeah and he's got broer days ahead you can mark my words on that I thought so was outstanding in the two games he deserved this wi it very nearly had another one that Matthew Cross couldn't quite hold on to he's changed his Pace varied it really well has that Express Pace that there isn't offer much in in Scottish or in general in associate Cricket so they were the the four wickets to fall in a point thanks to the heavens yet again but what about the star of the show who could well end up being awarded the player of the match in a few moments what about Cameron green how good a knock was this yeah brilliant power poise control he had he had all he he was able to absorb a little bit of the pressure early on the two early Scotland wickets him and him and Mitchell Marsh but then he was able to go through the gears in the way that the Scottish pass haven't that really got his Innings going he look to stay leg side of the ball as much as he can we know the lovely flow of the bat that he's got pouncing on anything short as well and he was able to really do it s that was the pick of the shots getting down early going six off a spinner over 45 and I have to say showing all the skills that he has on offer yeah an outstanding all round performance from Cameron green he's definitely going to be in the mix for the player of the match award we'll also have the series trophy to present so let's get over now to the post series presentation with your host Mel Farrell well Welcome to our postmatch presentation for this Scotland Australia men's T20 International series here from the beautiful gra bathed in sunlight seems like a fitting way to end this historic series congratulations to today's winners Australia wrapping up the series 3 n nil really well appreciated by everyone here as well a big thank you to our match officials umpires David mlan Ryan mil Ian McDonald and of course match referee sir Richie Richardson and let's not forget everyone who's worked so hard here at the gra Club at Cricket Scotland and all the volunteers you have all put on a magnificent show very well appreciated now today's player of the match goes to an allround performance from one of the game's most exciting all-rounders and with wickets Wick could tally of 3 for 35 and an unbeaten 62 it is of course Cameron green come on in Cameron I always feel like a hobbit when I'm interviewing you uh that was a magnificent all around performance from you is it important to take chances when you get them in this Australian side because someone up the top in particular looks like they're always going to get the runs and and that bowling attack as well well yeah 100% I think uh what we've got out of this Series has gave a lot of guys opportunities so um I think a few guys took it and um yeah hopefully we can yeah lend to a really good Cricket next series what about for you you're still quite young in your T20 International career all format player does this particular format excite you as much as the others yeah 100% I think yeah I've had a lot of fun obviously in the IPL um I think yeah it's obviously a form of the game that everyone enjoys watching but also the crigers love playing so um yeah it's right up there best thing about being in Scotland uh o probably the golf I'm not surprised by that brilliant performance for you today and we're going to have the Award presented to you by Trudy Lind blade CEO of cricket Scotland we got a photo I think [Applause] so thanks very much Trudy and thanks Cameron now time to talk to the Scotland Captain Richie Bing well Richie I know you would have wanted to get at least a win to finish off with how do you sum up this series um yeah look obviously it's been a a tough week results wise uh for us but I think again just you know having the opportunity to play against a team like Australia to get them across to Scotland for a triy Series has been you know a fantastic experience for all of us um to have that exposure it's something we need more of um to keep improving as a team um but I think you can see around the ground the excitement uh there is uh for Cricket and for us to be playing teams teams like Australia so although it's not going our way and there's definitely uh things we know we can do a lot better uh you know we'll we'll always keep looking to improve uh with those experiences but um I think for me the the highlights been uh you know the grin these these past couple of games just seen the grin fo and and the atmosphere and support that we've had yeah it has been absolutely terrific that Full House sellout today in particular when you look at Australia and the standards they sit what what does it make you think that you and and the other players have to go away and do yeah look I think uh the teams we've we've shown we're not not too far away um as you know as I said in the other day it's very uh small margins uh when you're playing against a team like Australia if you're not quite uh not quite on it uh on the day uh teams like Australia going to hurt you uh and we've seen that you know for me there there's still been some good performances in some of the games I think we saw Brandon mcmullen's quality again uh with the bat end ball uh which is really exciting to see and you know we've also seen some young guys come in uh which has been a a great experience for them but yeah you know we know where that bar is now and we just have to keep doing everything we can to to keep getting closer to that and keep trying to get better every opportunity we get these games have been seen all around the world what message do you want to send to any other full member nations out there who might be looking at it and thinking oh should we go and maybe drop in on Scotland yeah look as I said this week's been incredible and uh cricket uh credit to Cricket Scotland uh for getting this series on uh We've absolutely loved it um and I think I said The more we can do this I think we're we're only going to show um that we can get better as a team and we we can compete with these teams um so yeah hopefully it's something we'll see more of uh in the future um but yeah for now it's you know we have to um learn as much as we can from from this experience well well LED thank you for everything this week thanks Ma Richie barington there and now uh it's time to get the Australian Captain up Mitch well so far it's just tick every box isn't it uh look we've had a great week um I think we've had a lot of contributors which is what you want uh especially in a young team so the boys had a lot of fun well they have and I guess it's really impressive too that are different players really stepped up in each of these games is that what you were looking for um I mean yeah first and foremost we we wanted to win um but to see some young guys really step up green these game today um we've had yeah like you said guys Step Up in different moments and um I think we've played some really good all round Cricket as as far as the welcome today I mean it was a sellout you don't often get to play at grounds like this what's that been like and and the whole experience of being here in Scotland yeah it's been fantastic um you know international cricket we play in all different conditions and um the fog yesterday and being 15° certainly provide us with a different challenge but um I guess yeah it's a good opportunity to thank the people of Scotland and the Scotland Cricket Board it's been a real privilege to to come here and play um we get the sense that Cricket is extremely popular here and they're a very proud country so for us to get the opportunity to come play here has been fantastic oh you've been fantastic ambassadors yourself and we've loved seeing your interaction with the kids well done feeling good going down to England now with three with three wins under your belt yeah it' be nice to have all the Scottish people back on board with us as we go south I can hear the Applause I think you won them over you're good at doing that good at winning countries over thanks Mitch we're going to keep you up up here because we're now going to uh to get will falsh the cricket Scotland chair up and he's going to present a a traditional Scottish Quake I'm not sure if Mitch knows what this is but it's it's a traditional bowl that holds whiskey uh very much a sign of hospitality and the idea is that the whis goes in the bowl and it everyone takes a sip and it's shared amongst friends representing the uh friendship that we hope is formed now between cricket Scotland and Cricket Australia after a brilliant week in the sunshine and uh while the photos are being taken I now invite the Australian team to start coming up and join their Captain I'm sure a few of them would wouldn't mind it if uh they end up getting a sip of whiskey out of the quake as well come on up guys come on up and join Mitch it's been a wonderful week so happy it's ending in warm sunshine and my final Act here today is to present everyone your Series winners Australia well fantastic scenes here in Edinburgh teens of Jubilation for a very Titan it Squad it's a young Squad it's definitely W in transition but it's been so well led by Mitch Marsh that is a photo that they will treasure they've really enjoyed their time here in Edinburgh and presented Ally you're going to be able to tell me better about that there's a bit of a a tradition to that here in Scotland sort of celebratory Bowl in essence isn't it yeah a small little bowl of Quake we call it and and it's as Mel said there a sign of community sign of friendship back in the days where the Clans would roam over the highlands and they' some would take it as a sign of peace offering some would take it as a sign of fellowship and they would all drink out of that as a sign of solidarity that they would once again break bread and and and share water so a very special moment there they don't handed out for for for any particular any any just anyone they're there for a special moment to recognize it and the Australian team they certainly have earned it with the way they've played this year taking that Quake home with their 3-0 victory yeah actually a lovely way to end it isn't it so often you'll see sort of different kinds of trophies that won't actually have much meaning to them that one definitely a sign of a growing friendship between cricket Scotland and Cricket Australia and the fans well plenty of them are hanging around to try and get a few moments with some of their Idols we'll see Scotland and Australia I'm sure drift over to those fans to sign some autographs now pose for a few photos Ali it's been been great to have your thoughts throughout the the Friday and the Saturday of the series on the whole despite the disappointment on the pitch it's been a fantastic week for Scottish Cricket yeah it has and and I feel we sort of go around in circles talking about how Scotland haven't showed the best version of themselves but but to put that on that head that shows where scotlands are in terms of their development they're they're now coming into these series not not as also R not make up the numbers that they are here to compete and they're here expecting to put performances on and when they're only playing a four or five out of 10 which is what they put on this week and they'll be hugely disappointed at that they're still able to in spurts and in times of the games compete so Australia class above as you say l they a young side and this this is a sign at the start of a journey and in this journey I expect there to be a lot of silverware coming this way but we've seen inserts people like George msay people like Chris Soul people like Mark Watt and mainly people like Brandon McMullen showing the quality of Scottish Cricket that we have on show yeah and certainly unre High Point Brandon McMullan will actually end the series as the leading run score with 134 just past Josh Eng's 130 it has been a beautiful week a sensational week one that will be very memorable for all of these young fans and that's going to wrap it up for all of us here for me Andrew Leonard for my co- commentators Alistair Evans for Mel Farrell for Seth Ross and all of the Qtv team who've done I have to say an incredible job at bringing you these pictures and beaming them all around the world it has been a series that will live long in the memory and fittingly we sign off with a gorgeous shot of some September Sunshine here in Edinburgh for now it's by thanks for watching [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] e e e for
