[Music] I was really determined to make the most of what had happened to me and what power of sport has done is just presented an amazing opportunity you can overcome adversity you can be resilient no matter what life throws at you you can make positives out of the most traumatic worst situation that you could be in in life living a legacy that is bigger than just me and Nikki we haven't lost a race yet we are world champions and we keep working on these 1% is still and we keep looking for things to get better at the friendships we've made the Blood The Sweat The Tears and now we want to go and be able to say we're paralympic [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] Champions well after Tokyo when the mix double got announced to become a par Olympic event the Stars kind of aligned and point towards you know jumping in the boat with Jed and giving this a crack we'd never been in a double before we'd only been doing sweeping for the four and like the boat was just beautiful like it was just such a nice feeling it ran really well and it just seemed like the universe was telling us to rad this boat you know it was it was game on I wouldn't have considered this if we didn't have a friendship outside of rowing I knew dead and I knew if he committed to this he was going to give 110% and do absolutely everything he can for us to be the best double in the world so once we got selected I made the decision to move from CRA down here to Adelaide so just chucked everything I could fit in my Toyota Corolla and now I've been here ever since Nikki made you know an amazing sacrifice to be able to move down here to to Adela and that's been incredible and helped us a lot it's not easy it has its challenges moving away from your friends your support network and trying to be the best athlete that you can be T so you know 2023 was a was a was a big year it was our first year together in the double racing internationally laying it all out there it was an amazing year you know we World Cup 2 world's best time and then our world Champs to be able to show around what we can do really what we've been able to do is create an environment for ourselves to be open and free feel safe and the results are doing what they're doing the result we want for the par Olympic is to cross that Finish Line first and get that gold medal i' almost kind of want to win it for everyone else like I want to win it for my family they've never seen me race at the international level and for them to be able to come to the par Olympics after everything they've done for me like I'm so excited to be able to wear the green and gold and cross that finish landine with them all there yeah yeah 100% she goes I go m they get to be there they get to watch us be the best that we can be see this amazing diverse and inclusive family that we're a part of as par Olympians Win Lose or Draw at the end of that 2K I'm going to turn around with the tears in my eye and give Nikki a hug you know what I mean and say thank you so much for the last 2 years 3 years whatever it's been so that's an incredible feeling and it leaves us open and free to be able to achieve and and do the best we can
