got the Stan musal the uh the Mitchell andess throwback and I got the the Lou Brock throwback and then my uh my my official favorite Blues jersey as well I what I want to get what need in that lineup is I want a Drake baby blue basketball jersey I thought you were G to say Deacon Hill a deacon Hill a big deak energy Jersey yeah big deak energy back there would just make it although maybe I want a football jersey uh after that that win at at Eastern Washington Todd stepsis man congratulations we love that guy he's such a nice guy Eastern Washington deserve to lose if you're going to play on a football field you deserve to lose and Drake earn that win I know they're just trying to take it in a different direction than than Boise State but come on man it that really didn't work that doesn't at the back here um fastens onto your Breezers and then they can't pull the Jersey over your head now see the real goons the big the big time Fighters the the Bob Probert and Tony twist they didn't want anything to do with the fight trp because they want to whip that Jersey off as fast as possible so they can get their their arms free and and really start throwing Haymakers but yeah the other ones yeah they they use that that I could use that in the studio really because sometimes Ed Wilson gets cranky yeah Jersey comes un tucked starts pulling it over your head time for high low since last show last show was Monday posts Hawk Andy what's your high Ben since then it's only two days ago a dang it see I uh I'm loaded with lows today but I okay I'll jump in with my high because I have a good one um I half day off Monday half day off how does that work well we had we did the podcast when does it start it started my day off when does the day off CU you've been working all morning it didn't start now yeah I don't know it started after after our show maybe an hour or two after our show I I I was off so Jenny and I oh yesterday was a I'm sorry I thought you were saying today is a since yeah okay since the last apologize yeah uh keep up here so Monday we went over to either or and Jenny and I just we went outside and we sat on the patio and we were we stayed for like 3 hours we had I think we had two different meals we were there so long but we we she had some wine I had beer we saw Mark Frey came by there have a couple kit Stephanie Mo was there no kites no kites um we order we ordered a kite was as good as it could have been no no they said we're saving that up CER comes by at 6 yeah so walks in they just hand one like Norm they just hand him one but that uh it was a perfect day there and a bunch of people had their kids playing m and uh it was fun to watch other people's kids and then just not worry about it just those are cute kids it's kind of like a almost like a warm-up to being grandparents right I mean because that's what they like is that they can you know have fun with the kids and just leave them let's move on to the uh the Lowe's let's go let's hear won the lowest of low since Monday show end at 2:15 okay I'll just give you one so so I told you you know we've been talking about Lewis uh our puppy yeah I should bring him up here at some point make him make an appearance um so he is he anybody out there and there are there are a bunch of people out there that have a Labrador Retriever MH and they had them as puppies in the chewing stage and they understand that labs are chewers man and they not only that they're hungry as hell they're like Pacman um they eat anything and so Lewis is in the he is in that dangerous crosshairs of lab puppy them where he's teething and he's hungry which means he will literally put anything his mouth so on Monday night yes well yeah that is Lewis at the peak of his cuteness all right that's when he was like nine weeks old and now he's like 14 15 weeks old he's bigger but he's still really cute he's still cute so cute he's he's adorable and that's the problem although it's a saving grace too it's lucky for him uh but he started chewing on the side of his kennel like his crate he wasn't even in the crate he's chewing on the door the wire and he gets his teeth caught in there and and just starts crying like crazy and wakes everybody up and I got to pull his Jaws out of there and as I do that snapped off one of his his teeth which he's teething their baby teeth he's losing them anyway but I still really painful but that doesn't stop him from going produce shopping yesterday and today gets into the tomatoes and then I had these cantaloupes that had been growing all summer long I mean I've been you know watering them like crazy and fertilizing them Lewis gets in there ate every single one of them every one of them all of even the ones that were not even close to being ripe ate them all pulled all the vines all over the the damn yard it's like he's an animal and then and I thought okay as long as he doesn't get into the Watermelons oh boy because those are way down in the yard he a go doesn't even know where those are well this morning guess what he found the Watermelons he ate the Watermelons and they're like they're small watermelons they're like you know like a big softball gone this into Milo because Milo also involves tomatoes so Jenny has been growing the tomatoes out in our front yard and last night for dinner she uh she made BLT and they were delicious with these fresh tomatoes and she bought these coyote eyes that scare me every night when I pull in from the warut look oh gosh it's the keep the rabbits out yeah keep everything out apparently because the tomatoes this time they grew she's so proud of them there were a bunch left on there and apparently like the squirrels in the neighborhood had a meeting they like look there's a coyote there in the at the Murphy house at night but if we go in the day we can get to those tomatoes so this morning they took them all they took them all and Jenny just crushed sons of I don't know I don't know ever all right let's get the buzz here on murf and Andy it's Wednesday the buzz bu brought to you by loer Heating and Cooling L Heating and Cooling I need to cool off a little bit right now is the temperature I'm I'm actually yeah we're supposed to have a couple upper 80s days here but uh then cools off a little bit but need the cool right now I'm about to start sweating I'm enjoying it though because Ed Wilson who's had like way I mean the weather department has had way too much activity right this year I mean starting early and plus he's got that knee that looks like a cantaloupe a bruised cantaloupe yeah so but now they're bored because the weather has been so perfect that's good that should be a high right there the channel 13 weather team has been bored and they're still bored we don't have any rain in the forecast really I think the Buzz for me in in my life is still Hawkeye fans trying to get over that loss because we have enough of them in at over at wh13 and just people I hear from on on Facebook and Twitter and this is one of those losses I know it's been compared to 2002 though the this Iowa team does not have the talent that 2002 team had especially at the most important position the AP football player of the year and Heisman Trophy Runner Up played on that 2002 team so Brad Banks was able to help the Hawkeyes turn that season around they end up losing just that one game in the regular season that came up a lot when they were talking to the media yesterday that you know you can lose this game and still go on to have a fantastic season and that's true there were a lot of 2002 comparisons and Andy we both remember that game well and it is hard to believe that that is 22 years ago but uh that's kind of the Buzz for me in the worlds the Hawkeye fans trying to get past this loss and it doesn't help to be playing Troy because whether you win 50 to nothing or 28-7 that's not going to do anything for the concerns you have or the frustration you feel after losing that 13-point lead to your instate rival it won't do a thing if Kade mcnamer goes 20 for 20 with five touchdown passes it's Troy it's not going to make anybody feel like oh we're fine at the quarterback position so I I think that's where we are right now especially since Iowa state has a bye yeah and you know we I saw those comparisons right away and and I understand it I I think um you just can't make too much of it what what they're trying to do and I don't fault them at all and I think this is actually smart thing to do is they're looking back at a game that they um had a lead on and you know lost the lead in the second half it was at home and they were really down and turns out that season was fantastic that that was the best season that under Kirk fence I mean it really was I mean I understand that we had a 12-1 season in 2015 was it 12-1 or I was it 11-1 anyway is that we as in you and the Hawkeyes I I'm I'm I'm quoting them oh you're quot okay so you're in the mind of a hypothetical quote trouble yeah no no no so I think they're saying no we we had a similar situation and we felt way down in the dumps and as it turns out we still had a great season and we can do that again and I get that and that's a good fair comparison it is you can't go further than that though I mean these teams that 2002 team was more than generational I think it was like multigenerational that was a loaded team at basically every position I I mean truly good wide receivers a bevy of good backs uh a a line that I feel like everybody on that line went and played in the NFL and a number of them were were first round picks and and played for a long time the linebackers were great first round picks on the on the defensive line or you know NFL players on the defensive line Bob Sanders in the backfield in the defensive back field I mean that Dallas Clark I mean you could just go on and on there Nate kading that that was a loaded team and didn't play Ohio State this team Iowa is going to have to play Ohio State and then would probably not certain but probably would have to play them again in the Big 10 championship game for a path just such a different era too right I mean such a different era it you know the times the teams and the games themselves were were were not real similar other than the fact that Iowa had a lead in the first half and then didn't have a lead at the end of the game Iowa State freshman kicker Kyle conr R wins the poptarts crazy good play of the week award look at look at him with his Pop-Tarts there first of all it's a reminder how young he's a red shirt freshman so it's his second year of college you see him you think this guy went out there in front of 70,000 people and just kicked a field goal that would have been good from 65 yards right through the middle in more pressure than most of us can imagine and he's rewarded with Pop-Tarts I imagine Pop-Tarts looked at him and they were like look man everybody in Ames wants to buy this kid a beer and they can't we got we got to get him something that he actually can consume right now um yeah this guy's not going to have to buy another beer for the rest of his life it's too bad he's not old enough to drink one yet but I I assume um but how about Pop-Tarts coming through and some of those as I can see is I have to tilt my head back so I can look through the bottom the the magnified part of my bifocals here some of those are 12 packs those are 12 yeah you got Sixers up top and then you got some of the big double packs there at the bottom so now I wonder how quickly the dietician for the team came over and was like uh don't eat that he's a kicker though he can eat all the sugar he wants last year I was at the I don't know man kickers even these days kickers those guys are in really good shape too you ain't got some Jim Turner looking guy out there anymore Mark Mosley remember those guys oh yeah our High School kicker he used to he had to tie his shoe up you know it was one of those black shoes that had a square front to it and then you would strap it up on onto your calf so that it bent up to create kind of like a what's the name of the kicker with the half foot that made Dempsey so you kind of made the shoe kind of created a Tom Dempsey foot Mario Nicks was our kicker and he he tie that shoe up and go out there and it was always end over end these guys in high school now and of College they could just Blast the Ball like it's not uncommon to go to a high school game now and see a a kid make a 50 yard field goal yeah I think back in the day there was just a guy that could kick yeah just had a strong leg he got the job yeah but uh Tom Dempsey was um I think he passed away right Tom Dempsey he did he had that is one of the most remarkable athletic achievements ever I think honestly and he I mean first of all he did it below sea level I think two lane stadium was actually below the water it was PR I mean like Jason elim and these Broncos kickers kicking him up in myi stadi that you know in Denver that that's not the same playing field but Tom Dempsey ended up like selling insurance but he was also a like a I guess a really successful motivational speaker and he would Tour all around and he was like a really good speaker and was really you know self-deprecating and funny and I remember one of the lines he was like he was like yeah I mean I I had I was born with one hand um and you know half a foot and I was [Music] fat what say yeah yeah he was like and and I don't know if you've seen those pictures I was not exactly uh in good shape and yet he still went out there and kicked a 63 yard field goal which for a while seemed like it was kind of like Secretariat's records right I mean just like didn't seem like it was ever going to be broken and maybe it still technically hasn't if you compare you know altitudes and stuff like that but he he was he was amazing anybody that hasn't seen him before should just go back and look at that iconic picture and he has one he has a like a stub arm right and half a foot and he kicked one from 63 yards which that's back when the goal post are up on the goal line so it looks like he's kicking from his own 10 it does yeah that's a big difference and people would run into those gold post what a difference IDE by the way I did learn last year you can get sick of Pop-Tarts I always wondered I haven't had one since but I was at the Citrus Bowl so we're in the aftermath of the Pop-Tarts Bowl where the Pop-Tart was was dropped down into the toaster and all that and the media room just had Pop-Tarts and cheit that was basically the snacks and it's a little bit like completely empty carb yeah rvtv was cookies and meat you know that Fairway steaks Fairway meat and cookies that people brought by the RV so you can get sick of steak and cookies if that's all you have we got sick of uh Pop-Tarts and cheit I don't really haven't had much since but the Pop-Tarts Bowl they have tapped into something now I don't know how long it will last but like right now the Rose Bowl and the Pop-Tarts Bowl probably have the two Best Brands going I mean yeah and I think it evokes good memories for everybody when they think about Pop-Tarts or they they eat a Pop-Tart or whatever I mean you think about sugar rush you're kid it is kind of one of the holdovers from that era where you honestly thought that that was okay to just have that for breakfast and you did and and yeah and everybody had their method of eating those mean eat the crust All Around The Edge and then the I lik it a little brown from the toaster you have it a little bit not too brown brown not too not too much uh here Mr poptart now with the winning kick for the Cyclones is John Walters courtesy of learfield a 54 yard field goal attempt for the red shirt freshman Kyle conrardy with 9 seconds to go from the right hash snaps good holds Good kick on the way by conari end over end and it is good Kyle conari hit a 54 yd field goal and I was Ste Le in 20 to9 oh my goodness it's reminiscent of remember when Hassel did the hassle Dazzle sketch on soundof where John Walters was so excited he was like plugging himself into an electric socket and everything just running around like a naked Banshee just running up and down going down the elevator and everything it was uh it was a funny sketch a quickie pz presented by WCI Pools and Spas and you caused this quickie pole uh when you had the audacity to suggest that that Cade mcnamer has a better hair than rck Ock when I think most of us and I think the poll will reflect that it's rock Ock I mean it's it's it's the curls it's the flow he can put it in a a bandana he can uh he can he can put a sweat around it he can wear it with a hat American wear a bandana that's not going to look as cool as Beck now take the quarterbacking out of it we saw the game Saturday we know that Rocko Beck is a better quarterback than Kade mcnamer this is look at the vote so far Andy suck on that he I'm telling you man as somebody with thick wavy hair look at Roco Beck's flow look at that I I I would take Cade Mam's hair every day of the week Cade MN looks a little bit like when I was trying to hang on to my receding hairline so I just stacked it up high and hoped that nobody noticed and it actually more attention what I mean is better hair to work with not a better hairstyle and I think that's what most people are voting on is better hairstyle you could say that Rocko looks better with his hairstyle look at this Shameless plug for cyclone fanatic and ordering a t-shirt this is that's outstanding I don't know if that's Matt or Aiden or maybe Chris Williams somehow walked into the studio and said chance to sell some T-shirts put up the the giant cheater just or something like WR add one more pair of glasses to my life give me give me Cade mn's hair every day of the week all right you can do anything you want with that hair Dion Sanders head coach of Colorado in the Big 12 says he uh uh he did not tell the Colorado band to not play the fight song after his son shador Sanders scores touchdowns there was a report out there not like a rumor not like fans there was a report that because uh coach Prime wanted his son's song which is perfect timing that's the name of it perfect timing he wanted that played after touchdowns so that report was out there and Sanders talked about it yesterday reported that I told uh the band not to play the fight song that's idiotic y'all know that like when you saw that you know that was a lot um we got to start having some kind of uh accountability to this I understand that this is a free and an open world that everybody is not a journalist everybody's not an analyst everybody's really hadn't put in a lot of work to do what you all do I'm thankful for many of y'all that take your job in your craft serious and consequently you get facts before you run with false narratives okay all right yeah you want to start here or you want me to my first thought is he's right if this report is inaccurate but it was also believable and that's part of the problem I mean if somebody told you hey coach Prime doesn't want to hear the fight song after his son scores a touchdown he wants to hear his rap song uh I would believe that but you still I mean that doesn't mean a false report should be put out there but I understand why people believed it well I'll tell you somebody who is a real journalist and that's Sean Keeler and he's been banned from the press conferences there at can't ask questions can't ask question well he's been fine he's been banned from the press conference he has to watch it like the rest of us um it is believable you know and this is the problem now where just anybody with uh a a blog or a podcast or uh a popular Twitter feed or anything is considered part of the media mhm um my understanding is that this is a this was a guy with a radio show there that said that that was his report um didn't know that yeah I don't think this is The Denver Post looking into this so but that that all gets limped in together sure and so people when they're asked do you trust the media I mean don't you have to think the whole I mean like as a whole um if it's just a yes or no question you have to think of it as a whole and say no but you know people people do St say stuff like this this may be true um I don't know I don't just take Deion Sanders word for it because it does sound like something that he would do there it it does it does sound like something he do it would be ridiculous to not hear the fight song but yeah it would be ridiculous of him to get up there and say this after he actually did say it and somebody can find out and you know prove that he's wrong about that and he's lying but I don't know I mean look I mean Deion Sanders credibility it is a colander right now I mean it is full of holes and leaking in all directions so first calendar Twitter fight for like a day maybe no I think it yeah maybe one day all right throw it down Aiden all right first one can Nebraska make the college football playoff they sit at 2-0 right now they have a realistic chance to start 7 and0 I think you take a look at their schedule here got you and I coming up this week then it's Illinois Purdue Ruckers Indiana then you go to Ohio State I think they're 7-0 going to Columbus I I think they could be 7-0 going to Columbus too but look what happens after that Ohio State UCLA USC Wisconsin Iowa no this is a bowl team this is an improved team this is a team trending up this is not a college football playoff team yeah unless the playoff is uh in the middle of October um no I don't look I mean Nebraska I think they're improving I mean they have to at this point but um no way I'm you know buying any Bridges or real estate from them yet they do have momes at quarterback I mean I don't even know how Mahomes is pulling this off playing college football on Saturday and NFL on Sunday but that is a big Advantage he's the best quarterback in pro football and the best quarterback in college football maybe he's also playing for a high school team I don't know but that is quite an advantage uh next one will Deion Sanders be at Colorado next year he's a PR Nightmare and to be honest his team kind of sucks what do we think think I I think they're too they're too deep right now with him right now to cut him cut him out completely I'm not going to rule it out because they have a lot of money there uh and I think I think there are some people that are real sick of him already but it just seems like that's awfully quick that's an awfully quick trigger finger with a guy that still has a big megaphone um you know I don't think that I think he could kind of hobble into next season un intended yeah but I don't I just don't it's man it sends it sends a message to other coaches out there that you might want to hire to replace him when you're that quick to pull the plug I I think he'll be back at Colorado next year too it's a hard place to win they they do have some real positives with Coach Prime and I also think that Shan Keeler will be able to ask questions before the end of this season that's a buold prediction right there um lastly we're going to take a step back here 23rd anniversary of 911 what do you guys remember about that day oh um I was I was at uh Iowa State football media day for the Iowa State football game I was up there with uh Todd Bailey our our good friend who now works at Grand View and uh his wife was in Manhattan not far from the towers so it was a really visceral day Todd was really worried um the press conference ended up being called off uh and and then you just tried to get more information but that that is what I remember is just the slow building of boy this is worse than we thought this is worse than we thought oh my God this is worse than we thought and just watching Todd who whose wife was okay she was there with the Yonkers group um but they were right where the towers came down so being with somebody who was worried about his wife Sarah in that moment uh I'll never forget it yeah and and really that day is kind of uh forever um intertwined with with our Sports Department with rvtv um I was supposed to go that day that morning to go pick up the RV that's back when I used to drive the RV and I was going to pick up the RV at EDS Autorama on the south side and drive it up to Ames where we were going to park under the scoreboard at Jack Tri Stadium for the entire week different because yeah that was that that was shawk week that was the start of it 911 wow that that tells you how much later they used to play that so game ends up being played on Thanksgiving yeah right I was going to do that but I had like I was sick as hell the the night before 4 and was up all night long I was so sick and called murf in the morning you know early in the morning too like 7 a.m. which was crazy early for us back then and he was already up and I said I am so sick I can't get out of the bathroom or out of bed I'm I I cannot pick up this RV I can't go today I'm sick and he says I don't think you need to worry about it a plane just hit the World Trade Center so I hauled myself out of bed turned on the television it was on every single Channel and I felt like we didn't stop watching TV for a week murf when that happened and basically it's hard to imagine now but all the TV stations just they didn't play any commercials for a week right everyone stayed on that coverage for a solid week and I and it changed everything it did and I I think Sunday night on soundof um is is the only time I did the the show as a host with callers live I mean just by myself there was no co-host and we we just let people talk talk yeah and no nobody was talking about sports and was that the very following weekend or was that maybe two weeks later no it was the next Sunday we we we debated whether to have it I remember Bill shocky our Graphics guy helped us turn you know everything black and white change the open we we made sure it was appropriate but we just at the beginning I can remember saying we're not talking any sports tonight you you know look what our country's been through look at the pain people are in if you want to call and talk about this and then we just kept taking live shots of ground zero and what was going on and and the search for survivors and everything it was the yeah the most somber hour I remember uh I can remember being I don't know about 20 minutes into it or something and during uh during one of the times we were off me on camera you coming out and kind of comforting me and telling you know hang in there it's going to be okay cuz it's kind of getting to you listening to these people and and I was losing my composure a little bit yeah and it was so open-ended I mean you just didn't know nobody knew everybody's still you didn't know who did it um you didn't know what was next that day they grounded every flight and that was the case for I think several days um everything changed I mean there there are so many pieces of life in America that now are still in place because of of that day I mean your entire experience at the airport now is what it is because of 911 so many different things I mean things that are we're still talking about the the war in Afghanistan and you know all of these people that have served in the Middle East that was all because of that um you know it's oh okay it was it was so awful and so many different ways and still really just sort of hard to believe I know still hard to believe that both of those Towers crumbled all the way down to the ground both of them all the way down and they were hit way up at the top two of the tallest buildings in the world and they came straight down it it was it's just incredible and it's been 23 years right and we're running into more and more people now uh who weren't born then that's throwdowns from Aiden not born yet oh wow I was born 3 days after wow yeah and I bet that was a different experience on your parents because of what had happened 3 days kind of stuff um I would have prer referred something like Remembrance Day or reflection day or WTF day I think that might be the most accurate because we were like moving on to local news now authorities seized hundreds of birds last week from an alleged fighting operation in Southern Iowa this is outside the town of Cincinnati Iowa Cincinnati Iowa never heard of and I did not know we had fighting in Iowa it's Central apparent according to a news release from the appen county sheriff's office deputies executed a search warrant at a rural property and seized more than 400 roosters and hens wow you ever seen two in a fight it's it's ugly it I mean it it makes you ever you ever seen a with a spur on it like that look at that thing that's like an ankle bracelet for a yeah and they jump up the try to hook each other with that man it's terrible yeah I mean you you may think of it like a like a big lightsaber fight or something no no it's ugly it's it's it's bad it's it's not good uh an Iowa man was seriously injured over the weekend when he fell out of a moving party bus I'm surprised this doesn't happen more I am too that's the first thing I thought we we've been on a party bus where a guy fell through the bathroom door he was like absolutely hammered drunk and couldn't stand up and grab the door the bus takes off and he pulled the just pulled the thing off the hinges and like fell into the bathroom holding the door an unlatched window opened with Levi koopman's 21 years old of iron never heard of that one either no leaned against it according to a news release from the Sue County Sheriff's Office cman fell out of the bus which was moving about 50 m an hour he landed on Highway 18 about 2 miles west of Hull sounds like he was hurt uh pretty significantly there but yeah I am surprised I imagine party buses carry a lot of insurance but I am surprised that doesn't happen more often cuz people are like I'm on a party bus I am drinking more than I've ever drank before you understand I'll don't have to drive I carried that cooler onto the bus man it was heavy as hell I don't want to carry it back off of here we need to empty it uh on Saturday September 7th 2024 at, 1430 hours the Marshall Town fire department was dispatched to 1501 Summit Street for a possible house fire upon arrival a two-story house was found with a working fire inside when firefighters entered the house they found two separate and unrelated fires one in the basement and one of the first floor bathroom they put him out that information provided to us by Marshall Town Deputy fire chief Christopher Cross and you'll just have to sing the song to yourself because YouTube won't let us play it look at that cover imagery you know that so I the wind like the you know so anyway that is the album of the year he's got no time he's got no time for talk he's wearing a pink suit I think he's got like some woven leather loafers on there going to a flamingo fight what does that mean what no time for talk let's just get down just wants to get busy what is he saying there he's saying let's just get down let's go no time for talk he's talking to a man or a woman there I mean if he's saying no time for talk he could be ready to throw down and fight now in Marshall Town it means I don't have time for talk I got to put out the fire but that's not what Christopher Cross here ising yeah yeah or yeah if he's in Appo County no time for talk let's get to fighting a US News and World Report uh report is out with its latest rankings of the best country in the world it's based on a global survey which nearly 17,000 people across 36 Nations us Associated various countries with specific attributes ranging from Dynamic safe and a leader to cares about human rights economically stable and committed to social justice the good news good news is United States uh did better this year than we did the year before uh we are still number three on the list up from five last year Switzerland still number one they have been number one every year since 2017 I got to visit that place it's beautiful uh it's very expensive but it's very very clean very very safe I think everybody can hide underground during a nuclear war Jaan number two yeah I was there this year and I was really impressed Japan up four spots from last year again USA 3 Canada 4 Australia Sweden the UK Germany New Zealand and Denmark Iowa dropped out of the top 25 well now for the list of the world's most corrupt countries oh boy we'll start at number 10 with Bangladesh Cambodia Bangladesh okay I thought it was Bangladesh it's Bangla it might be okay Ghana El Salvador Myanmar and now into the top five Zimbabwe mhm very concerned to all of us Mexico at number four wow Colombia at three Iran at number two and number one the most corrupt country in the world should be no surprise but it's Russia wow I guess that shouldn't be a surprise but still is there really could there be another one on top of that list the least corrupt country is Switzerland USA is actually 27th on on the list there so not great uh we'll finish with this the new iPhones are coming next week murf now don't go running over to Cellular Advantage no this thank you for saying this dougland if you're watching or listening I don't care what it takes I I got to get I got to get the 16 upgrade because they they've done significant upgrades to the camera that's when it's time to upgrade when the camera gets a lot better these are the only cameras we he doesn't happen till next week and and we increasingly use these phones to cover the news absolutely well people use it to cover the world the world everything available for purchase next Friday I assume that that Doug and cellular advantage and their 32 locations will have them next Friday uh the iPhone 16 the 16 plus the 16 Pro and the 16 Pro GT Turbo Max is that also a car or something that's a lot oh it's just called the pro Max uh the new phones have en hand camera settings a larger battery new colors a faster processor uh the they are purposely built for Apple intelligence that's Apple's AI that they've been working on for quite a while I guess it's taken them a little longer to perfect that I don't know Apple's so much better than everything else that I imagine this will be better than everything else the phones feature a physical camera control button it's got another it's got a button the button is back it's on the side it's not on the front but it's on the side uh and it's kind of cool Apple says it allows users a oneclick option to open the camera take a photo and start recording start recording right then with One Click by clicking and holding the camera button users can take a photo of a restaurant and get information or point the camera at a dog and learn its breed see there you go I'm camping out at the no longer will you be like what what kind of dog that is also allows videos to be recorded in 4K resolution at 120 frames per second uh do we need to stop there I feel like we should stop we do we need to stop there that's your more everybody nicely done thank you to either or and thank you Andy giant in the movie industry um James Earl Jones 93 lived a lived a great life and was known as a really nice man I know Arnold Schwarzenegger had a a pretty moving anecdote about James Earl Jones and how helpful he was when he made the movie Conan what a nice man he was but we're each going to name a a movie and show just a quick clip cuz we're on YouTube of uh something from the Great James Earl Jones and the first movie that comes to mind for us the first movie that comes to me here in Iowa is of course one of the great movie one of the Great Moments in movie history for me it's the speech about baseball people will come Ray people will most definitely come that's it nice and short nice and short let get through with that YouTube that was a great speech the whole thing every a lot of people know it by heart or at least recite it they can Andy James Earl Jones besides Field of Dreams what else do you think of him well I mean he's he's the voice of Darth Vader for me um Empire Strikes Back is the one that I feel like he has the most speaking lines in but yeah I mean just the presence that you get with his voice it really isn't a charact I mean he's not the guy playing Darth Vader but he is Darth Vader MH I am am your father I I I mean honestly is Darth Vader the menacing just kind of silhouette and then the James Earl Jones voice Mr movie James Earl Jones you you uh you go back like I do all the way to Bingo Long and the traveling Allstars I can remember my uh grandmother taking me to that James Earl Jones and uh gosh who else was in Rich PR Richard prior Billy D Williams yeah yeah that was a fun movie she took me to it because it was about baseball I was way too young to see Bingo Long and the traveling Allstars as it turned out but he he was in that what other movie do you think of uh I think of the Lion King I mean when I when we went to the theater with the kids and sat down in that in that movie house and that movie started you knew it was going to be special remember who you are he's maasa right yeah maasa his voice and also so interesting with the level of Fame for his voice you know to the point where like Letterman would have him on just to count 10 things down so he could hear his voice James Earl Jones gave a spoken national anthem at a sporting events he he did that in the 90s right yeah um but he he had a stutter like he had a stutter his whole life and he'd have to keep it under control and with rehearse lines he wouldn't stutter but in conversation he was he was a stutterer uh Mr movie Mike Woody is with us and so good to have him back and Mr movie you have some reviews for us what have you I do I I went to see Beetle Juice Beetle Juice last week and it's it's playing in De Moine it's playing in the IMAX so it's it's quite a treat visually um but it's this is a perfect reason why Tim Burton should not be given a lot of money he just man he is so over the top it's so out of control and it's but it's it's craziness in a fun way but it's it's crazy it's wild Michael Keaton is just crazy off the off the wall just bouncing around but I'm going to guess it doesn't have whatever magic you might consider from the first Beetle Juice which was a long time ago doesn't quite have that it doesn't quite have that but it's got more more fun more laughs than that first one did for sure so the braid for Beetle Juice Beetle crazy then good crazy good crazy uh Beetle Juice C+ B minus that range okay I saw uh audiences rated it a B+ when leaving the theaters which is not I mean that's not a great grade by audiences for a movie that so many wanted to see but Beetle Juice Beetle juu what else do you have for us I've got a movie called afraid I've been I've been seeing trailers for it and hearing good things about it so I stuck my head in the theater one more time last weekend and this is a it's about a family that gets an AI device in their home oh gosh and it's it's the Next Generation and you know as well as I do bad things happen takes over the family does crazy wild stupid things and it's it's a pretty intense movie and you will walk out of that movie you will think oh man I don't know you turn off all your devices at night because part of this is probably happening in our homes right now I I'm sure it is I that's sounds like a good premise what's the grade for afraid it's it's a B minus it's it's B to B minus territory it's it's just very thought-provoking and very well done and there's nobody in the cast you're going to recognize so it's it's a fairly lowbudget picture but it's very effective so is this along the same lines as uh Sandra Bullock's movie back 25 years ago the net where it's just kind of the fear of the unknown like the internet is out there now and it's going to get you it's and so it's a lot like that but a lot more intense all right so what else you have for us Mr movie that's all I got for that's it that's it right what's coming up uh it's kind of a slow time in the theater so you've got David Batista in a movie it looks like comedy looks like action Guardians of the Galaxy guy right the big the big musclebound guy so in in the past couple of months since we last talked to you what what movies come to mind that you saw that you're like that hey that's worth it uh rent it stream it go to the theater if it's still there well clearly Deadpool and Wolverine was saw that the hit of the summer and did you absolutely I did enjoy it it's absolutely nonsensical and no kids should be in the theater it makes no sense but it's fun well and I sat next to a six and an eight-year-old oh yeah that would have ruined the movie for me we really we really got to work on our parenting skills I've got one for you so I I I I put together a book challenge for my son Eddie and he he finished it and his reward was we were going to a movie together and he he wanted to go to inside out too and we went over to the Palms and it's been out for a while yeah but uh I'm reminded what a beautiful theater that is and it's so fun to go to you know great food and drinks and so clean and relaxing in those chairs and that movie is wonderful it is one of the best SE that I've ever seen in my life and it's funny in talking with uh the Capitol Theater which is a Fridley Theater over in uh the Newton Town Square I was talking with them last week and uh don blecker who owns that place said that movie saved her business Sav that theater because and she said she was ready to start closing the theater in that's the theater that has the pig joy in it yeah has Joy the pig and so it's very well known has two screens but inside out two came out and it was such a hit so many people came out to that and are still apparently coming out for it over the Palms yeah it saved her business it is a wonderfully put together sequel to a really good kids movie uh and it's very worth seeing uh really for anybody but if you've got kids they haven't seen it go go to the Palms and see it if you look at what that did for the theater business which you're right I mean it was huge and then to be followed with Deadpool and Wolverine they had a good summer they did have a good summer which is good to see shout out to Twisters too it did really well I I enjoyed Twisters um and a real star making turn there for Glenn Powell yeah who's I I think he's in every movie at this point hey the ladies don't mind no I'm sure they don't Mr movie we're so glad you're with us uh that's good to be back it's good to have you back and uh uh again Colin says to tell you uh he's glad you're part
