As this election season ramps up. We're verifying the ads that you see on television today. An ad that making claims about the daycare that North Carolina governor candidate Mark Robinson used to run. Here's WCNC Charlotte's Megan Bragg with today's fact check. The ad we're looking at today is paid for by Josh Stein who is running against Robinson as the democratic governor candidate. Now, in this a, there are several claims about precious beginnings, a daycare previously run by Robinson and his wife in Greensboro. So we're fact checking these claims and letting you know if they are true or false. Mark Robinson and his wife and operated a child care center. This out has several claims. But for this story, we're going to tackle the ones you see on your screen. Right now. We went straight to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to verify these claims. We sifted through years of state inspections between 2005 to 2007. That's when the Robinsons operated this daycare. The first claim there were uncovered electrical outlets around one year olds according to inspection records in 2005 N CD HHS found electrical outlets in the room for one year old Children were left uncovered. Center operators said there were safety features that did not require a cover. That device was found in the infant room but there were no safety device outlets in the one year old rooms. So we can verify that this claim is true. The next claim the daycare was cited for one and two year olds not being supervised during a 2005 site inspection records show the caregiver for one and two year olds was sitting outside on the porch talking to visitors instead of in the room with the Children. So we can verify that this claim is true. And finally, the ad states documents show the daycare center operated without lights, heat or running water. This claim is misleading. There was an official complaint sent to D HHS in 2007 that stated the day care had been using the oven for heating as the gas and had been cut for a period of time. However, there was no official state record that shows this was true. It was only sent as a complaint. Now, there are some other claims in this ad. We also verified, you can find those on our website, wcnc.com. Now tomorrow, we will take a look at Josh Steins attack.
