to town I am Wade he is Tim and uh Beaver is looking to go to 2 and0 tonight on Military Appreciation Night yeah another beautiful night for football and beavers looking to to build off at last week especially on the offensive end they were outstanding it was and they all three phases for the most even the defensive side they gave up 21 points and Coach Lindy had mentioned that they were mistakes that they got up over the top on big plays for the rest of the day pretty much they were solid as well yeah they had a long stretch here in the middle of the game where they were really really good couple big plays they got to try to avoid in the passing game other than that really solid effort and certainly things that they worked on this past week barou comes to town they were a playoff off team last year heavy graduation losses Some solid players they took one on the chin last week they're going to try to bounce back tonight yeah a big loss 45 to zero at sock Purry last week and uh yeah it's a team that's going to try to pound the middle that when you play barou it's always about physicality they're always a super physical team beaver's going to have to do a good job in the defensive barbou coming to HH derle field on Friday night we're going to bring in head coach Brock Lindy coach after you looked at the film from your squad last week I guess uh The Good the Bad and the Ugly what did you like what do you need to get better at than just your overall thoughts yeah effort was tremendous from our kids um you know they were excited to play football and and uh and that's something that you oftentimes have a hard time coaching if a team doesn't have it so we were excited to see that um we played pretty mistake free football um only three penalties for for week one which is pretty exciting and uh a couple of those are very preventable so we'll we'll go and clean those up um you know really just uh some execution on some things and then just some understanding of some scheme which you know you can't really simulate through a scrimmage or some practice so just a great great first week to win a football game uh but also to learn a lot of productive things that we're going to need to improve as we as we move into um you know some tough games coming up coach you mentioned you know three penalties in an opener it's almost unheard of in high school football so I mean that that's a pretty good effort from your kids to uh to to to keep those flags in the pockets of the officials you know for for week one isn't it yeah yeah and they're all they're all just hustle plays kids trying to make a play and just um overextending themselves beyond the the rules but uh really easy to clean those penalties up when when we just say uh you know don't hit the quarterback too late don't don't block into the back of a guy in open space um you know but no procedure penalties a lot of discipline across the board so if we can stay more disciplined than our opponents that gives us a lot better chance to win across the board coach Kid's first varsity game on both sides of the ball Ashton seert had had a pretty nice catch had nice interception just that was a pretty nice debut for him wasn't it yeah I mean he's he's a tremendous kid um best part about Ashton is just how quickly he learns um and just how engaged he is into all the intricate details of the game so uh you know we we know that we made the right choice moving him up um but now he's had a chance to kind of prove himself and and just gain that confidence knowing that he belongs uh playing Friday nights so really really proud of him and excited to see what he does for the rest of the the season but also for the rest of his career coach special teams wise you got a you got a punt block that set up a score you got a big kickoff or return that set up another score do you think your special teams has a chance here to to be special here in 2024 yeah I mean more maybe more so than any year because of our depth uh we're able to put some really really talented kids out on our special teams without feeling like we're we're overexerting anybody um and I think that that showed up on Friday when uh you can make a lot of explosive plays happen on special teams and then prevent other teams from having explosive plays U you know a lot of people talk about how important special teams is but then they don't practice it or they or they don't put um their best weapons out there well if if we think special teams are that important we need to attack it and um and Friday night hopefully is just the the start of great things to come for th those units coach uh obviously you can't prepare for for game speed and game situations climatology as well it's you know it's been hot this week for practice uh got pretty warm was got warm last night cramping itself as a staff how can you prepare your kids to uh try to get him through a football game without you know having to worry about too much cramping and such there just something that's going to always happen especially early in year yeah I mean I I wish that we could um we could prevent it as you know obviously as much as possible but it's just messaging to the kids about how they need to be fueling their bodies and then how we're responsive as as coaches and creating our practice plan um around around the elements and making sure that we build in enough water breakes and make sure that when they leave practice they know what they're supposed to do with their bodies um you know now that school is started we're expecting our kids to care water jugs around to their classes and stay hydrated throughout the day so uh you know it it gets a little tricky and uh more often than not we've seen cramping on on cool nights uh where maybe they don't feel like they need as much water intake um and I think that we had a little bit of that that's maybe the coolest week one game we've had in a long time so uh now our kids know they know what they need to be doing differently or better and uh and we need our all of our players out there healthy so um just continue to preach that message on on how to treat their bodies right coach uh barou coming to town on Friday night to derley field uh they they took one on the chin in the opener uh every game's going to be tough just when you look at barou uh what's the thumbnail sketch on those guys yeah barou always has the similar blueprint um for their program which is playing physical football so uh they're going to bring a lot of pressure on the defensive side and uh they're going to try to pound it right at you on the offensive side so uh we've got to be sound in our techniques and make sure that where we are supposed to be where we are um but we also have to be be able to push back a little bit when they try to bring pressure so um you know we've we've had some success in the past when we've been able to soften him up a little bit um on the perimeter and uh and sobry was able to do that last week against him on film too so want to keep the balance of our of our offensive attack and not get too far away from what our our identity is um but obviously every defense kind of throws something different at you that forces you to adjust and and add some wrinkles and uh and same thing with with offense we we've got to mix a couple things up defensively and and
