Be On The Lookout For Waterspouts This Weekend On The Great Lakes | #forecast

we have an interesting pattern setup this weekend in Ontario with a very strong upper level low descending over the Great Lakes Rising the threat for water spouts now what exactly is a water spout well it is technically a tornado that forms over water but it is from a nons supercell cloud and usually cumulus cloud and what actually helps form this well we have a few factors the first being warm lake temperatures such as the Great Lakes with cold air above it this creates a very strong temperature gradient then we get rapidly Rising ing air that forms these clouds followed by Cold winds blowing over the warmer Waters leading to instability and lastly this allows for rotation to begin as air converges at the surface now here's kind of a look at what we're talking about warm lake temperatures Lake yie sitting at 22 degrees Lake Ontario at 21 degrees and then we get the upper level temperatures descending with this low pressure system those are 0 degree temperatures two to five on the edges but that core there that is0 degree upper level temperatures so that's a very strong temperature difference and just a little bit of height and we also have the upper level rotation or spin that it could allow for these water spouts to potentially form and what's coming along with this low pressure system well a ton of rainfall this is going to become almost a wraparound low and it's going to create very slow moving uh heavy downpours for some we could be seeing some pretty substantial uh accumulation over the weekend and wind gusts will be picking up throughout the weekend [Music] [Music]
