is Sam Pitman coaching for his job this week not specifically Sam Pitman has one of the hottest seats in all of college football this year if the Hogs don't make a bowl game Pitman will likely perhaps in mutual fashion exit through the back door perhaps through the front door and will be showered with love and Arkansas will realize it's time to make a change as the head co with the head coach of the football program but interesting game this week because they travel to Still Water they are playing 16 ranked Oklahoma State who I admittedly am not as high on when it comes to their big 12 Championship prospects as plenty of other people are still water not an easy place to play normally if you ignore the group of five teams that have gone in there and had success in the past but Arkansas goes in here and if they win this game Sam Pitman takes a major step forward in keeping his job because this is the sort of game that you go to your athletic director at the end of the if you still want to have your job and you say hey you didn't expect me to go in and win that football game and yet we did and this is SEC versus Big 12 Oklahoma State's at home the Cowboys should win the football game I I don't think Arkansas is great this year I don't think Oklahoma state is great this year but Oklahoma state is still good they are one of the highest floor programs in all of college football death taxes Mike Gundy he's just he's always there he's always there like that meme in the office when the lady sorry I didn't watch the office so I don't know her name comes up and scares Dwight from behind like ah Oklahoma state is just right there all the time just kind of jabbing you in the side like Hey we're still here hey we're still here we're still good and yes Oklahoma state is indeed good so what's the key to this game oh well uh let me start with olly Gordon if you go in and stop olle Gordon and admittedly in week one Alan Bowman better than I thought he might be even against South Dakota State I do not fall into the Trap of hey Colorado plays North Dakota State they could lose that game or hey South Dakota State's going to still water Oklahoma State could lose and then when they win the game by double digits it's an FCS team what does that really mean you don't get to have it both ways you get to have it one way either they could lose or they have no fear of losing and they should win comfortably but Oklahoma state was more impressive against the best program at the FCS right now in South Dakota state that's that's the good news for Cowboys fans the bad news is I don't know if Arkansas is one of the worst teams in college football I don't really know yet they put up 70 points in week one with Bobby patrino their offensive coordinator they were playing Arkansas Pine Bluff so let's not get overly out in front of our skis and fall flat on our face but certainly does it feel like Arkansas does it feel like Bobby patrino would have put up 70 points last year is it all coming together is the magic just there in fville they're not in fville this week but you understand what uh what point I am making here if you go into Stillwater and you have some offensive success this could be a really fun football game it could be an incredibly fun football game now Sam Pitman does not get fired if they lose this game nor does he automatically retain his job if they win but if they go in and win this football game and Arkansas starts to rack up wins you might look at a couple games on Arkansas's schedule differently you might look at a game that before the year you'd say hey that they're not going to win that game like the Auburn matchup for instance and say yeah they're not winning that game Auburn's Auburn's better Auburn's going to roll if Arkansas goes in and wins in still water then what are you going to think then how do you view Arkansas what are the expectations like how does that shift the mindset and the approach from the Arkansas athletic director surrounding head coach Sam Pitman I think it makes at least an impact if they go in and get rolled this week if Oklahoma State wins a game 38- 17 and Arkansas is not even competitive Sam Pitman might not make it to the end of the season but if they go in and they are competitive and they lose all right then you know the hot seat doesn't doesn't get even hotter per se but it could go from like a n and a half down down maybe to a seven if they go in and win it could even go down to a six but right now Sam pitman's Hot Seat meter about 9 and a half one of the hottest seats in all of college football so I'm most interested to see that particular game speaking of Big 12 sec there's another matchup I think you should be aware of so in week one I had an individual who shall remain nameless because I'm not about dragging people unnecessarily here on the show for making a prediction that's incorrect I have made many and incorrect predictions over the years because that's how it goes when you pick college football games every week last week someone said that Wyoming was going to go into Tempe and pull the upset of Arizona state that game was over the half Spencer it's Wyoming Wyoming's got a new head coach Wyoming is in the Mountain West okay okay fair enough fair enough it's not it's not a world beating game what what was I talking about earlier in Today's Show oh that's right Texas blasted a middle of the- pack Mountain West team Colorado state which is what Wyoming should be this year Texas blasted them into Oblivion so all we know about Arizona State right now is that they played one game and they got their backup quarterback into said game this is year two for Kenny Dillingham he's got Sam levit at the controls who I thought was perfectly fine in week one did some nice things I don't think he's going to set the world on fire Mississippi state is rolling into town uh tell me off the top of your head do you know what the betting line is for Arizona State hosting Mississippi State out of the SEC you have an idea most likely of what you think it should be in your head because you know that when an SEC team comes to town and uh sundevil fans can correct me if I'm wrong on this I do not believe Arizona state has ever recorded a victory against an SEC team in their history what do you think the line should be Mississippi State Jeff lebby year one on the road what do you think it should be SEC lower tier Big 12 remember Arizona state was picked to finish last in the Big 12 this year I always thought that was a ridiculous prediction and well they made me look good at least for one particular week this is Arizona State minus 5 a half Kenny Dillingham might be doing the right thing down there in Tempe just might he just might they've got a G5 Road game next week that they should not look ahead to because Mississippi state they're not going to just roll over it's still an SEC roster even if it's a lower tier SEC roster go ask Virginia Tech what the bottom of the SEC is capable of delivering but Arizona State at home year two for that staff Brian Ward the defensive coordinator I think is one of the most underrated coordinators in all of college football he came from Washington State where he's on staff with Jake Dicker whose game I'm going to talk about later in today's show I like Arizona state in the spot I liked him before the year I think the Sun Devils are going to enter Big 12 play at 3 and0 from there it's going to get much more difficult but this game is an opportunity for Kenny Dillingham to activate the valley dare I say because the expectations are not very high and they went three- n last year it's back-to-back three and9 seasons for this program a State could have that many wins before they play a single conference game this year that would be an accomplishment in and of itself but he would put the city on notice he would put the big 12 on notice if he goes out and wins this football game I think he's going to Arizona State's favored by five and a half I think they win I think they covered that number as well sundevils 27 Bulldogs 20 final answer reges philin I hope some people out there understand that reference because that is one of the OG great game shows nothing beats Jeopardy of course but Arizona State watch for that defense see how the offense performs against the Bulldogs this is kind of a pro it time I know it's not a top tier SEC team but if Arizona State goes out wins that game Big 12 might want to poke their heads out like a gopher in catty Shack and well maybe not if the Dynamite's coming around of course but they might want to poke their heads out and go hm what's uh what's Arizona State doing are they do we need to worry is that is that a problem maybe maybe just maybe
