The Future of Champions League is Doomed

do you guys remember the Super League well that was created over 3 years ago and subsequently died like less than 2 weeks after that because every single football fan in the world unanimously decided that's a pretty bad idea isolate a couple of Rich clubs screwing over every single fan and every single other club in existence and so it fell apart pretty quickly but now is it coming back named something awfully familiar oh yeah the UEFA Champions League it's just the highest level in fo football and that includes the World Cup cuz even though you've got teams like Brazil and Argentina who are obviously spectacular national teams if they were to play against teams like Real Madrid and Man City they'd probably lose those games because these Club teams not only can sign anybody they want in the world no matter what nation they're from but they can also train with each other for most of the Year whereas national teams only get a few weeks per year so the highest level of football is the Champions League and so everybody watches champions league and loves the format and loves everything about it which is why of course FIFA and UEFA have the brilliant idea to just change all of it have you ever heard of the phrase if it's not broke then don't fix it well UEFA obviously haven't heard of that because they've decided to go out and make Champions League the most difficult thing to understand since the Calculus class that I flunked out of in high school which is exactly why I made this YouTube channel so you've got to subscribe now so that I don't have to go get a real job where they might make make me do math the new format for Champions League is adding more teams but it also is complicating the hell out of how to qualify for Champions League I mean figuring out how to actually get into this tournament is literal rocket science at this point first let's take a look at how UEFA is going from 32 to 36 teams how are those slots decided Well slot one this place is going to go to the club ranked third in the championship of the association in fifth position in the access list which is determined by the UEFA association club coefficient ranking I mean of course duh if you don't know what that means then are you really a football fan slot two this place is awarded to the domestic Champion by extending from four to five the number of clubs qualifying via the Champions path of the competition fine I don't fully understand how the four new spots are chosen for Champions League they probably could have written that in hieroglyphics and I would have processed the information just about the same but what I do understand when to share with you is the new format for Champions League all 36 teams are going into one League table similar to The League table you see in Premier League or Bundesliga but if they played a home in away game for every single match that would be 70 more games and I've Got a Feeling UEFA probably tried to do that to get as much money out of this as possible but obviously that is not feasible so instead there's a random draw of eight different teams that you'll play in the Champions League League table and that's going to be four home four away eight different teams and based on how many points you acquire from those eight games you've got a spot on the league table now just like the current random draw you are going to have maybe some teams with more difficult opponents than others but based on where you finish that'll determine how you get into The Knockout round so out of the 36 teams if you finish the winner of that playoff will go to the round of 16 and create the other eight teams so ninth would play against 24th 10th would play against 23rd Etc the winner of those matchups would go to the round of 16 now if you lose those matchups you are out of every single competition and if you finish 25th through 36 you are also out of every competition no longer do you drop from the Champions League down to the Europa League or the conference league for that matter you're just done with European competition for the year you do not pass go you do not collect $200 so now we have a league table of all the best and richest clubs around Europe playing against each other and it starts to give hints of the Super League which was hated and abandoned because everybody was against it so why is the same outcry not happening to Champions League now it's because it's not the same at all the entire essence of why the Super League was hated so much was because of its Clos system aspect it was because a team like be Leverkusen who's gone Invincible in all compet itions this year winning Bundesliga winning pocol probably maybe winning Europa League and they probably wouldn't get into Super League still because they just don't have the same money as teams like Real Madrid or Tottenham who haven't won a trophy in well over a decade it was only for the rich clubs and to make the owners even richer hurting all of the other teams in the respective pyramids of their country and the fans as well just destroying the sport one step at a time the difference between that and the champions league is the champions league is still based on sporting Merit and even though I have no idea what those new four new spots mean one thing I do know is that every single Club in Europe still has a chance to fight their way into the Champions League every single year but don't think for a second that I'm here to defend UEFA for all that long because even though it's not the Super League it's like comparing Bernie made off to Eugene Krabs sure one of them was a con artist that scammed billions of dollars from people less fortunate than him but the other one is still quite a big fan of money the motivating factor is always going to be the green for UEFA and FIFA what they want is more money and how they're going to do it is by playing more games in the stages preceding The Knockout rounds in the round robin format each team of the 32 teams played six games one home one away against the three other teams in their group well now it's four home four away already going up 25% in the amount of games played but that isn't where it stops if you finish between 9th and 24th you play two more matches in that playoff which adds even more games and more money in uefa's pocket and they want to disguise it and try to say to fans oh no it's only because it's more exciting it's only to please the clubs who wanted to join the Super League UA say this is going to be much more exciting uh better quality games more equally matched games and we all know that that's just not the case they just really think we're that dumb don't they so if you made it this far in the video comment screw UEFA down in the
