welcome everybody and we are fired up for another Sensational college football matchup nobody in home today who can stake their claim in this neutral sight Showdown while this game caps off the regular season how that season is remembered will be impacted greatly by what happens in this game as we'll see the number 13 team in the country the LSU Tigers taking on the 25th ranked team in the land the USC Trojans for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started kickoff team on the field ready to start this postseason classic here he comes from inside his own five and the returner is stopped the Tigers return team didn't help matters out much with that one and here he comes a man who epitomizes the phrase the tight end's always open David and yes he is Reese and it's so cool the tight end position now has evolved so much you can move him all over the field and you can really highlight a guy of his ability too big for safeties to cover and two fast for linebackers to cover this is a weapon they've got to take advantage of I want to make sure I know where The Playmakers are and I can't let guys like this gu slip out of the back field and make big plays against me good job being aware that they can throw the ball to the running back closing space and getting that fast dude on the [Music] ground they'll run it from the gun open space at the 25 really needed a play like that to get out of their own end they moved the gain they mark it at the 29 and a great job by the offensive line you're going to run the ball right at the middle you better control the line of scrim you can see the center the guard The Tackle doing a good job getting on their guys just enough where this running back can get into space and make the big game on the option he'll toss it defense there to stop him after a two- yd gain to the 31 well guys blll season it's here always fun to get these non-traditional matchups That You Don't See regularly what do you guys remember about playing in a bowl I think you remember all the moments throughout the season throughout your career and it's the last time that you ever get these group of individuals together you say goodbye to so many people and and it's kind of Bittersweet but always fun Jesse um to do to dance with your boys one last time but another thing too I love the Swag Bags personally I love getting the gifts yeah I mean to me David really it was thinking about the tradition and history of these goal games I think that's one of the best things about college football we're in an era today where Bal games don't matter as much as they did back when you and I played but it was special to take the field with your guys one more time but playing in games that had so much history and he's down at the 41 that's a first down and I think on that last run play on third down here early in the game they're making a statement that we believe we're the more physical team and we're going to run the football even if you know it's coming at you nice job they've got the ball at Midfield I expect to see more run plays coming up the Tigers have their offense in high gear he's got it on the right he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down just about any LSU offense will make you hold your breath when they play pitch and catch yeah just such Elite Playmakers usually just such speed and listen when you're a defense speed kills and LSU no matter who plays quarterback they always got dudes that can fly out wide that absolutely scare they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one don't you love energetic defenses that fly around that make things happen the ones that get in the back field the running back tries to go somewhere where do you want him to go there there is nowhere to go nice job by the defense creating the tackle for a loss on first down they've got a solid Drive working but now looking at second and 11 and not even a chance to pitch as he is slammed down in the back field you know they went QB designed run but there just was nowhere for the quarterback to go it couldn't go outside and there was just way too many bodies on the inside for him to get anything positive they losing now the eigh play of the opening drive but this time facing third and long to the air it's nus Meer right down the middle pass on the way it's picked off and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception and the senior just snatched the ball out of the air and gave it back to his offense so now the offense is going to have to regroup but turnover on the first drive of the game can bruise that confidence a little bit no doubt about it it's so hard as an offense to create any momentum and get any confidence early when you turn it over at this juncture in the game you're just trying to kind of feel out this defense and you're formating them and you're trying different play calls to set things up for later but when you turn it over on the first drive it's hard to get that momentum stop I get it that the game is a primary thing about going to a bowl but there are so many festivities surrounding it Jesse what do you remember about something you experienced there was a lot of pageantry when I think back to the bowl games I played in and you have functions you get to visit a brand new City generally in warm weather you get to meet the other team there's some friendly competition the biggest thing that stands out to me though was a street overw against the and he's all bottled up and now it's worse the ball's loose defense falls on the ball going to be a turn over and maybe this guy was hoping somebody would bail him out like a Tuck Rule or something not going to be so lucky this time around give the defense credit this pass rush is serious it's real and this quarterback is now going to have to play with a clock in his head that's going off just a little bit quicker he's got to do a better job understanding when to get rid of it the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field the give is to Williams a most efficient pick up of six on first down it's second and four well it's plays like that that'll help this offense stay in Rhythm all game one if you can have that kind of success on first down running the football it just opens up your entire Playbook moving forward 6yd pick up on first down leaves him with second and four looking to it's nus Meer looking to take a shot what a grabble on the left sideline got the foot down and a strong throw put it right on the money really nice timing on that throw quarterback had to hold it allow his receiver to work his route but he threw it at the perfect moment so that he was able to make the catch inbounds right on the sideline LSU lining up first and goal snap in the shotgun fires to the end zone and it's caught touchdown Tigers receivers do this every day all day throw it up I will go get it I will stay in bals nice job knowing where he was at on the field to get that foot in bounds to get the big TouchDown for this offense [Music] getting set for the point after and the extra point makes it s nothing quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they finish things off with an 8yd toss for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive he'll start the return inside his five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 and guys USC has the ball back and sending the offense onto the field fires a full but now it's picked off and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick I tell you what it pict in a tough position when you're backed up inside your own 20 trying to come out but when you're a defense and you can force a turnover and you already set your offense up in scoring position they are going to be extremely happy and that offensive coordinator is going to look extremely smart couldn't order better field position for this offense pulls and throws off the RPO that completion takes him down to the seven yd line and they are ready to strike this quarterback right now is an improve he's doing a nice job in Pre snap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right now try to get the edge with a quick touch pass so close to that end zone he can almost taste it but it'll be first and goal for this offense just went with something very easy very reliable flipping forward let your receiver do the rest I only got to get a few yards nice job nice execution first down defense is backed up shadow of the goal post trying to defend their own End Zone wide receiver now comes in motion keeping it on the ground on first and goal didn't get much done on that run he'll fight his way out and maybe maybe pick up a yard that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's is counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense can the defense stop them again on second and goal tries again to get it in they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well he gets tackled down at the one yd line so offensively do you feel confident enough on third here trying to hand it off again yeah and I'm taking both these downs and I'm coming downhill I'm running the football trying to get this In The End Zone I only got a yard to go I got to be physical this defense was put in a difficult spot but they've made it tough and now the offense faces third and goal he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple third and goal and I like the play call you're trying to run it in you expect to be physical but this offensive line just not getting the job done they need more push a field goal here would make it a two-possession game but they elect to leave the offense on the field on fourth down barges ahead he's not going to make it stopped short of the goal line tried to push his way in but not quite enough on Fourth and goal power football with the Run that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down out of the gun the running back has it and he's able to bounce off one tackle but still not a whole lot of running rout they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one going to run it it's O'Neal and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land stopping the run is very high on every defensive coordinator's list making the team onedimensional nice job stuffing the run on that play right there and the Trojans will punt it away on fourth down he gets it away from his own End Zone on the move it's Thomas the solid return there offsets some of the pun yardage and really sets up this offense nicely LSU will dive into the Playbook here on offense used the play fake now to throw got it in the middle it's Daniels and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two he'll come out throwing on first down got his man on the right that completion gets them inside the 10 and the defense is running out of room to defend I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job formt going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone scanning the field it's nus Meer he's got it and still on his feet a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do the terrain gets rough this deep in the Red Zone third down they can pick up the first without scoring that's it Fly and good coverage and better Hands by the defender to knock it down in the end zone well on Third and short and field goal range they dial up the pass play quarterback was trying to get through his progressions there was just simply nobody open couldn't make it accurate enough throw ball Falls incomplete Now setting up a big decision here on fourth down they'll send out the kicker to try to salvage this drive good right down the Boulevard and now the lead is extended a little further [Music] after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to go from a couple of yards deep he'll bring it out he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 this Trojan offense is is ready to go back to work from the gun he leaves it with the back and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage you got to have that defense you know you can go to in running situations your base defense where you say okay this is where I'm going to start and I'm going to stop the run stuff it up front my guys play Big up front then if I need to add some blitzes to it later on down the road I can but great job in the base defense making a play he'll be stopped just short of the 20 at the 19 give him one know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum to the air it's Moss looking left and they'll miss the connection here on third down every defense in the country talks about getting offenses in predictable third and long situations where I can bring on more speedsters and I know the pass is coming so I can have more success the Trojans will line up to pun it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he'll bring it back it's Thomas well they finally stop him but he found some Running Room on that return and really helps out his offense to start this drive quarterback on the keeper just a sage stop by this sophomore yeah and it's a nice job by this defense understanding listen that Q is a threat and they're going to run all kinds of options he's going to run the football they were dialed in he got that sucker to the ground second down coming up [Music] guys LSU has the lead here really strong performance so far to be able to build a lead here in the first period as we look at the [Music] stats now to see if they can answer this early Blitz here in the second quarter he's looking to throw he hurls one deep down the left side touchdown LSU and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the more you know sometimes as a plate caller you just don't have to overthink things I've got a guy who's faster than your guys and he's just going to run straight down the field I'm going to throw it way down the field he's going to make the catch and we're going to score a touchdown and that's pretty much what just happened there [Music] he'll try to attack on one more and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further aggressive play calling on that drive just two plays they get the long touchdown pass to pay it off they're just about ready to kick it away on the move from inside is five he's got great speed oh what vision wide open and it's a foot race he will score touchdown Trojans that dude ought to have a lethal sticker on his helmet anytime he touches it it can be a score he touched it and it was no doubt unbelievable speed and and if you're back deep for a kickoff obviously you got those Wheels but to be able to get through and guess what no Flags you know it's going to count great job by the Special Teams being special lining up for the [Music] Pat and the Pat will draw them one point closer so a dynamite play there 99 yds he took it back for the touchdown they're just about to boot it away full of energy after housing that last kick off fielded In The End Zone it's Jackson not nearly as much as he'd hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field looking to go up top on first down and the pressure gets him back at the 8 yd line we're only in the first half already this guy's got two TD passes so you could see the defensive coaching staff on the sideline telling this D line guys we got to get after this guy we have to affect his rhythm and not let him be so comfortable back there right there they were able to get after him let's see if they can keep it up let's see if they can get out of their own way on second and long from the eight out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back smashes through the tackle well the defense may have been caught off guard a little bit on that play it was second and long they weren't expecting the run so now we've got third and manageable and they've got to be wondering to themselves is this offense going to try to run the ball again [Music] here they're facing a third down back to pass it's nus Meer quickly to the tight end one of the things I love about this defense is they just have such great awareness and they're always communicating they understood the down and distance they knew exactly what they needed to do to make the tackle to force the punt that is so well done LSU will bring the punt team on the field bringing it back it's branched coverage team gets the job job done and they'll Mark him down at the 38 yd line and guys USC has the ball back and sending the offense onto the field the give to the back and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup for all of the Star Quality that USC has been built on good offensive line strong running game has always been a hble no doubt about it I I think they're built on you know the passing game and explosive Playmakers out why but they've always had that balance at USC you got to have a little bit of the boring to go with the glitz and the Glamour the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long you saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical enough didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he'll pull it on the they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and that is beautiful execution by the defense what do I do with that option string him along don't let him make a quick decision don't let it be obvious did a good job slow playing it stretching it out everybody being able to run the football use the sideline as a Defender nice job by the defense on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air and that one's incomplete they were just trying to move the chains they were trying to move the scoreboard instead it's Fourth Down DB does an outstanding job here on the Deep pass locating the football no Pi able to swat it away pass incomplete and the Trojans will punt this one away a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work LSU will dive into the Playbook here on offense they missed an opportunity to extend end this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one and D to me that starts with being the more physical team no I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the football back now put a nice drive together and execute got six on first down now a lot of options on second and [Music] four from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole and he'll have enough for the first down at the 42 that's a really nice run one thing I love about him is his got versatility reminds me of a guy I used to play against back in the day Kevin fall he could catch the ball he could run the ball he could block he returned kicks he did everything for the LSU Tigers and this guy he's got that ability too so many different Tools in his toolbox off play action on first down grabbed over to the middle it's Thomas and how about that catch and run so dangerous this guy he's showing you his skills on that last throw this guy's got armed talent and accuracy man and some of it it's not coachable I think back to JaMarcus Russell and Joe burrow two former tiger quarterbacks that were the first overall pick in the NFL draft they had some of that too they just had a feel for the position that you simply couldn't coach at the college level this guy man he's got some serious tools and he really helps make this offense dangerous now that's what you try to do as a defense limit those damage when they run the football get them on the ground short gains to set your defense for positive situations down the road after picking up a couple it's second and eight to throw it's nus Meer oh he drops it that is a catch he makes 99 times out of 100 but it'll be third down and that's one the offense needs to be able to hit right that's a completion they should be able to hit in their sleep receivers got to do a better job after the second down missfire looking at a third and [Music] eight from the gun wants to pass getting some heat and he can't escape and down he goes not sure exactly what led to that whether the protection wasn't right or the quarterback just didn't see it but the result was a negative play in a sack one thing I do know is that quarterback had no chance to get that ball downfield that pocket was breaking down and it was breaking down quickly there were just too many bodies in that back field for the QI to make anything happen looks as if LSU will line up to putt it away wanted to make sure not to give them a chance for a return as it goes out of bound this Trojan offense is ready to go back to work their Drive chart is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too they just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this offense needs to get their heads out of there you know what the putter is on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they've got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball motion from the offense the give out of the gun and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain this running back loves running into the teeth of the defense in between the tackles he keeps a low pad level and he's got some speed it'll be a first down from the 49 yd line maybe some confusion on the snap count there that's maybe what caused the false start either way offense is penalized so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty after the shower of flags it's first and 15 for this offense wide open downfield and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up they're not only ready to fight on they're ready to deliver knockout punches with plays like that they they typically are and it's typically Hollywood scripts right just beautiful Playmakers big bodies fast bodies to highlight the famous celebrity quarterbacks that's just what USC does off the play fake on first down can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down well this defense felt coming into the game that if he was going to try to throw from the pocket they could get to him and affect his accuracy and they did on that last play they'll try again on second down after the incompletion out of the gun they give to the back maybe a three yd pickup there third and long coming up they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here back to throw it's Moss got his man quickly good tackle there to stop him short of the first down and now they have to make a call I mean good news here they get the completion bad news though not enough to pick up the first down Target there he's got to do a better job understanding where the first down marker is make sure he gets the right depth on his route now all of a sudden head coach has a big decision to make they'll play it safe and send out the field goal unit absolutely perfect [Music] [Music] [Music] after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away he'll bring it back from inside his spot didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that PL behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that build this lead yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few Personnel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four makes the grab it's Thomas just what they were looking for to get this drive rolling they're out to the thir and I love that the QB understood I'm going to put some stank on this I'm going to throw it as hard as I can quickly right when he's breaking out of that curl nice job getting it to him quick so he can get a first down they'll snap it on first down from the 35 looking to move it through the air caught in the back field it's Daniels and he's able to bounce off one tackle for a solid pickup and I love the idea of getting this guy screen throws because of his ability after the catch so nice job getting downfield getting a hat on hat and giving him a tunnel to run through that last completion has him set up second and short direct snap LSU will get a first down I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the D line they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first the tigers are on the Move dropping back it's nus Meer fires to the right he's got an open man make the stop at the 40 but he's got 15 yds on that one and a first down and yet another BYU Bengal baller on the outside who can just go get it and if I'm a quarterback man I love throw to these guys it doesn't have to be perfect I don't have to fit it in the Box I know my receiver out wide will make plays LSU has had guy after guy after guy that you can name that can do that and they might just have a number first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it and right now he's doing some damage on this defense feeling some heat the short hands it's Daniels and that's a very productive first down play in bringing up second and three well you can tell those two have been practicing the out route all off seon long they look like they could have completed that in their sleep little bit more to go after that last completion they'll try to to pick it up on second down he's looking to throw grabbed in the middle it's Williams really confident throw and catch there big pickup and they have a first down all right defense it ain't working right they're stringing together several first downs here we're going to need to change this up find something we can disrupt the quarterback and and mess up this offense a little bit and the Tigers have it in scoring position on first and goal he wants to throw he snares it in the end zone touchdown by you Bengals and that's what I love about empty sets and formations on offense is that when you spread the defense out you create bigger Lanes to throwing do you saw it right there [Music] lining up to add another and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 they go 83 yds on the drive and they finish it off by connecting from 10 yds out about to kick it away after scoring the touch down from inside the 10 here he comes didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 and guys USC has the ball back and sending the offense onto the field they'll come out on this drive and let it rip those two not on the same page it's incomplete getting late here in the first half they'll have a chance to make this a one possession game and the offensive play caller here has to really be dialed in it's important down two possessions Dave that they're able to score some points you got to call your best stuff in this two-minute situation and and such a good opportunity to cut into a one- score game create that momentum get some good juices going for the second half because obviously you know you built yourself a little bit of a deficit you need some good things to happen and it needs to happen on this possession you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 from the gun the ground game he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three timeout called here by the defense it's their first of the half you know the runner just has to have a little bit more patience bounce that thing outside a little too early and as a result lost yards fourth down and the punch team sends it the other way he make the Stop and that is exactly what you want out of your punt cover unit LSU will dive into the Playbook here on offense Jesse looking to take it down the field for back-to- back touchdowns think it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing po yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning off all over the place buch formation for these [Music] receivers to the air it's nus me going back to the well another deep ball and it's incomplete after taking a shot on second down they're staring at third yeah and I like the shot the aggressive play down the field we like throwing those jump balls up to my receiver cuz usually receiver makes the play and makes the defender look bad nice job by the defender getting the hand on it tipping that ball away from the wide receiv on Third and long triy to convert through the air got it in the middle it's Thomas quick timeout from the offense to save precious seconds well this offense told us coming in they were going to challenge this secondary early and often they were going to use their speed to their advantage and take advantage of this quarterback's touch and arm Talent and they already in the second quarter they've got over 200 yds [Music] thrown couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again on second down he'll let it fly looking for the end zone and he's got it touchdown LSU man that's a play this kid has been running ever since he was 7 years old at the park with his best friend throwing them go routs right down the field I'm running by a guy I'm looking back locating the football making the catch and he does it in a big moment here in this game [Music] they'll try to attack one more on their score and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead a very efficient five-play scoring drive and the score comes on a 35 yd pass for Six you get that touchdown right before the half build the moment M and the last thing you need to do is mess it up by allowing a big kickoff return from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position and the coverage team able to wrestle him down running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break Bulls his way forward got to be smart patient great vision uses all of that to get to the 29 first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update all right guys a delightful first two quarters of football there today in Vegas and there is no better place to start this halftime than by reviewing how this wide out has been a oneman wrecking proof the kid's been everywhere and I love how he's willing to go across the middle but that he also has the Jets to burn these DBS on the def ball if this defense wants to actually come back in this one they better hide his CLE and with that let's send it back to the fellas inside Allegiance [Music] Stadium LSU will put foot to leather to start the second half he'll take the return and try to improve the field position didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 this Trojan offense is ready to go back to work he's going to pass trailing by three touchdowns if you're going to get back in it David the time to start is right now got to start now defense given up points on that last possession again the offense is going to have to score and Jesse probably score pretty quick yeah you got to go Tempo you're going to have to try to fit in as many plays as you can throughout the rest of this game but I think more than that you got to eliminate the negative plays no more penalties and no more turnovers On The Run it's O'Neal slammed to the ground but not before he gets the first down I love what players understand the situations and they understand where the first down bunker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out wide and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big plays sometimes it's about getting that first down to make sure I get an extra set of downs instead of trying to make those big touchdown runs coming out on first down with the play fate got his man downfield and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one he makes it look so routine out there just plucking passes in this offense when you think about the success the Trojans have had offensively in the past and certainly in more recent times it always feels like there's got to be at least one receiver in this offense in the discussion for best in the country this this guy I think can be that here's a quick throw out to the left he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down my old coach said you'll never go broke taking a profit take what's there take the positive yards and never complain got a little work done on first down now back to the line leaves it with the back he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage that's a really good stop by the defense Jesse they need a few more you've given up a bunch of yards on this drive and a bunch of plays but all that matters is keeping them off the scoreboard yeah it's that bend don't break mentality you're seeing right now and this is the point where this defense has just got to lock in trying to pick it up on the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and that's a really good job by the defense cuz when you get in that third and medium area listen you got to be worried about the run and the pass did a good job playing B got it stopped now forcing a fourth down the Trojans decide to punt it away they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today another punt on the way got to make sure those hammies and glutes all activated don't want any muscle PS from overuse the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field the give is to Williams they get it out to the 36 and on the move after a pick up of 15 another good run man he has been picking up yards in bunches today Jesse showing off all the skills and he's showing no signs of slowing down David this guy just gets better as the game goes on he is a beast they came out humming on this drive and now it's first down from the 36 Ed the play fake now to throw a strike downfield that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop it's a really nice play there the thing about this guy he forces the defense to have to stay disciplined you just can't take a play onf he reminds me of an old LSU quarterback that I used to play against hurt Tyler he was a guy that could hurt you throwing the ball but he was also Shifty and he could extend plays we had a great defense of Florida full of NFL dudes but he just never let you feel comfortable because of his athleticism and his Dynamic ability this guy has a little bit of that too there's really no secret to it David when this guy's running well this offense is so hard to stop it opens up everything and he's having a great day showing you a little bit of everything and this offense has got it rolling on the ground to the air it's nus Meer coming after him under pressure and and down he goes at the 33 I like the defense there and their mentality after getting gashed on the ground they just turn the page they generate the pass rush the very next [Music] play a big play for the defense with the first down sack now advantage d as the offense comes up on second down the give to the tail back trying to pound their way forward he picks up a couple to the 31 a third and long coming up [Music] here looking to throw and he needs a bunch he's going to run it and couldn't quite find the crevice he needed to pick up the first down that's why it's important offensively they're going to have to do a better job running the ball and getting positive yards early in the drive you can't be in third and long living in those situations against this defense cuz they like to play dime personnel and with those faster guys they're going to Blitz and they're going to match speed with speed it's a nice way to combat the mobile ability this quarterback has Now setting up fourth down never a doubt and that will extend their lead even even further [Music] that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running on the run from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 and guys USC has the ball back and sending the offense onto the field using his legs it's O'Neal got it across the 20 and out to the 23 a pick up of four they face a pretty tall mountain here Jesse down 24 but if they're going to climb it this is a good time to start sense of urgency has got to be big right here you just get the feeling at this point of the game David they've got to score on this drive obviously their defense needs to get stops but at this point offensively they've got to execute much better they they got to be super aggressive down 24 you're going to need three touchdowns three two-point conversions everything to kind of go your way so fast and throwing in the football I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it looking to throw it's Moss oh he dropped the football he had it right in the middle of the field and just ran before he finished the catch it'll be fourth down well after struggling so much in the first half you thought they would have made some adjustments here at halftime to see if they can open up this passing game but early on in the second half they just not really able to get that done incompletion on third down and your own end you're expecting them to punt forth down and the punt team sends it the other way running it back it's Thomas that's a perfect example of not settling for a fair catch pick up whatever yardage you can and help out the offense they'll run it to the right he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a cple well this guy's been eating them alive all game long finally though David you wonder if the defense has been able to make some adjustments find something positive to help slow this guy down hey baby steps right that's a tackle for a loss I know he's got over a hundo on the game but this defense is definitely going to have to be more aggressive commit more guys to stopping that bad man on second down just keeps firing catch in the middle it's Thomas they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down and a really nice job by the wide receiver you run a drag route find Space they're in zone coverage they're not covering manto man find a little hole look at that QB y'all get on the same page you could tell they were and that's why they got the first down shotgun snap on third down quick completion on the out he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down he might have expected to see this DB up in receivers kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good reys at seeing the holes in the zone knowing you're in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitch and catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on Third and Sh really nice stop there from this senior leader and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down give to the back and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that this defense obviously knows they've got to be able to stop the run if they're going to win this football game and you wonder if they've been able to make some tweaks and adjustments to try and take this running back away now facing a third and long looking to pass it's nus Meer and they fail to hook up on third down tell you what I don't know if the offense was expecting man coverage that time third and long in field goal range you're expecting it to be Zone instead they lock him up manto man everybody on an island everybody W to get the incompletion Now setting up fourth LSU will bring the punt team on the field no opportunity to run it back as the ball goes out of bounds this Trojan offense is ready to go back to work last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels halfway there on first first down it's second and five the give on the inside get him on the ground after a four yd run out to the 31 I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a home run so why would you call it then well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the take and this offense is desperate to keep this drive alive trailing by multiple possessions and it's getting late toss sweep to the right nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry was third and short the offense is trying to go outside with the toss play but too much speed defensively forcing fourth down and the Trojans will bring the punt team onto the field he'll try to really get into this one and the returner runs out of real estate as he goes down now you will dive into the Playbook here on offense here's another opportunity Jesse to stretch out this lead after punting last time I think it goes back to your Playmakers reys I think it's finding the guys that have been working for you earlier on in this game and getting them the football yeah and there's obviously no need to panic I mean think about it you got the lead you got the football you got to be smart with the football make your play play put a good drive together here after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven dropping back it's nus Meer pocket starts to collapse and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense all right that's one the offensive line has got to be able to communicate and pick up when that inside linebacker comes running through the a gap or the B Gap those o linemen they've got to work together together and they've got to pass guys off to one another to make sure they pick him up we didn't do it that time I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long doesn't need to take the check down finds his man it's Thomas oh there's the ball how in the world did the offense retain possession this quarterback has been really good today he's been on top of it seeing things really really well that pass right there put him over the 300 yd Mark that's a pretty good day which is if LSU will line up to putt it away and returner will be dragged down first down for this offense out of the shoot quick toss to the right really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first [Music] down guys LSU has the lead here this has been utter domination through three quarters and the stat will back that up one more period to go and we'll see just how much fight they've got left in them they've got a first and 10 at the 34 he's looking to throw it trying to get to him pass is incomplete but there is a flag and the D might have been a little too rough on the quarterback there defense the late hit moves the ball up 15 yds you want to be physical with the quarterback but you can't give up those roughing to passer penalties it's first and 10 and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down you see an incompletion there I think a big reason why this team is in such a hole right now in the fourth quarter is they have just not been able to find the explosive plays thrown the ball and you got to wonder at this point is it too little too late this offense has a second down play now the play fake he LOF it high and deep down the left side well the defense came into this one knowing if they stop the pass they win the game and they have done that their guys have won one-on-one on Islands they've been able to get to the quarterback they've been mixing up their looks they haven't even allowed a 100 yards passing in this one and that's why they are way ahead here in the fourth quarter third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off they're trying to get to it just had to get rid of that one to save the yardage on third down it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one down in the fourth quarter it's too late for empty possessions they'll go for it on fourth down he's going to let one fly down the middle and it's swatted away it's a turnover on Downs the offense set for a first down play from the shotgun the hand off to the back and they're able to shove him to the turf as they stop him for a short gain and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot got three on first down at second and [Music] seven he'll keep it himself makes it past the marker line away run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down look we know he's not going to break any land speed records but if you can run efficiently it gives the offense another Dynamic weapon no doubt and if you got the space right re like look look at all that space out in front it doesn't take a genius to figure out like go go take the yardage it's free yardage I'll take him I'm not going to score touchdown probably I'm not going to go a long ways but some first downs of bat this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last one didn't get much on first down it's second and nine back to throw it's nus Meer excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had thrown the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule a little less room to work with now is the balls had the 28 and it's third and long from the gun wants to pass and that pass picked off never really got that return cranking but the offense is set up at the 30 well the defense isn't quitting they're obviously down big here in the fourth quarter with just a little bit of time left obviously it'll take a hurt pulian effort to come back but could that interception be the spark that ignites this team and guys USC has the ball back and sending the offense onto the field these last couple of drives Jesse have been about the defense making clutch stand I think for this offense they can stay aggressive knowing that their defense is going to bail them out time to time again here yeah and especially when you go for those fourth down situations you do that a lot of times because you know you defense can make stands make stops they did on that last possession F they'll line up for a second down play after the incompletion they go back up top catch in the middle it's Jordan they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker well and here's the problem offensively because you're trailing by so much so late in the game the defense now is going to be playing big big Zone coverages and they're going to allow you to throw the ball underneath in the middle of the field rally to make a tackle and bleed the clock it's going to be hard now for this offense to claw their way back in this one snagged in the middle it's Branch just gashing this defense a big Gainer to the 40 yd line the offense has struggled they're not going to win this game but trust me his coaching staff is still trying to find things to build off of for next week and after an explosive play like that maybe they can generate just a little bit of momentum and gain a little bit of confidence that they can keep coaching up heading into their next game unloads to the wide out and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge game if he could have held on well a lot of things haven't gone right for him you saw an incompletion right there it's been offense it's been defense they just haven't been able to click and get into a rhythm here and now they're playing catch up and you know they're going to be throwing at each and every play here in the full quarter wants to throw it's moss and the pass is in complete thanks to a big hit got to give this defense credit guys because all game long they have forced their opponent to be one-dimensional they haven't allowed anything to happen in the passing game as a result we're here in the fourth quarter they barely allowed over a 100 yards passing they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one on Third and long trying to have a big completion here hits him in stride inside the 10 he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first goal from the eight you know as the head coach of this team this is one positive you're going to take away from this game is that your players don't quit and they're still willing to fight there's obviously a lot of things they've got to Iron Out offensively and we've seen that today but I do love the grit they're showing here late still trying to make plays he'll just keep slinging it and those two couldn't make the connection it's an incomplete pass and it's just been that kind of day for this quarterback in this offense guys they have never been able to get into a rhythm throwing the football timing's been off accuracy hasn't been great we've seen some drops just not in sync that's why they find themselves trailing by a lot right here late in the game snags it oh and he thought he might be able to wiggle his way into the End Zone but they knock him down at the three I love offenses and quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier to pick up second and five third and five than it is when we start getting those long yardage situations little touch pass to the receiver and he's going to take it into the end zone touchdown USC [Music] [Music] here comes the two-point try goes to the option now the toss he's not going to make it in and the decision to go for two does not work [Music] out about to kick it off after punching it in for the touch down he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee they'll bring it to the 25 the Bayou Bengals will run the offense out onto the field they'll run it from the gun and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 the give to the single back good solid run on that one as he gets it up to the 33 yd line and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his [Music] PS and that last run leaves him with a third down will they keep it on the ground wide receiver coming across in motion touch pass on the Jet Sweep plows through the defense he's got first down yardage across the 50 they'll mark it at to 49 I love that play call and I love the timing of the pre-nap motion because the quarterback was able to get it to the receiver right behind the offensive line because of the timing he was able to outflank the defense that puts him out in space where he's able to use his speed nice job with the pre- snap motion and timeing they'll give it to the back and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really sh challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to do nice solid form tackle from this sophomore [Music] we'll see if they go back to the run here on third down to the ground to try to move the chains on the move at the 30 he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down I think you have to like what you see if you're the coaching staff here your offense is on the field and it looks like you got a pretty good drive going you're just going to try and keep this thing marching keep the clock ticking you've got a really nice nice lead here late just want to find ways to keep the chains moving they're doing that caught over the middle it's lacy put it right on him sweet PL good pick up and they'll move the chains with the first down last couple of plays the offense seems to be just one step ahead David yeah and I'm going to have to do something to disrupt the timing the Rhythm I got to do something that they're not expecting cuz right now they got the run and they got the pass working so this defense they have to find something new to kind of confuse this offense pressure coming pass rush gets there gets home gets him down at the 23 and that is a huge play for the defense offense has it in your Red Zone you're trying to knock them out of field goal range the only way you do that is by creating negative plays and they get the sack [Music] after the big first down sack it's second down on the option and this one will be stopped for no game [Music] and this offense has gotten off to a good start on third down but this is a different deal on Third and long looking to throw and he needs a chunk play it's caught and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker well I love play colors that want to stay aggressive regardless of what the score is regardless of how much time is left on the clock and I promise you this there are a lot of fans there are a lot of teams all across college football that are paying attention to what is happening right now and this kicker has had a busy night the field goal unit is out there for the third time it's good he hit that one right down the middle and they'll push that lead out a little further [Music] they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work looking for blockers not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 this Trojan offense is ready to go back to work back to pass it's Moss using the back as a receiver on the screen didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down and defensively this is exactly what you want right you got the big lead so you can play Big Zone coverages just keep the ball in front of you keep your eye on the quarterback rally to the football gang tackle you're going to win this game on second down he's looking downfield they're setting up the screen they make the stop but not before the screen has hit him for a first down and much more really good execution by this offense I'll tell you you cannot count this team out because of who's playing quarterback when this guy's in the game it's never over yeah they're trailing here in the fourth quarter but this dude can put up points quickly trying to find his man on first down fires to the Wi out almost had the completion just missed it at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage the incomplete pass leaves him with second down he's looking to throw quickly complete didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a nice job there good timing between the QB and the wide receiver executing that out route the Trojans in the hurry up back to the air one more time grab near the marker it's Jordan and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression to the air on first down looking for his man just too much juice on that one as he air mails his receiver out of bounds after the misfire it's second and 10 looking for a man it's Moss receiver looks it in it's complete they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down and listen the defense playing really conservative right you got the lead but here's what I'm trying to do I'm trying to get sacks I got to get to the quarterback like I got to make sure I'm getting him knocking him off the spot patting my stats by the way got a lot of sacks late in games and we had a big lead but that's okay that's what you're supposed to do keep competing defense they'll try to get the first through the air he puts a lot of air under it down the sideline and this defense has put a game together like it is hard to put all the facets of Defense together run defense pass defense they've been so good man dialed in you could tell they were ready they were fast they were physical they dominated this football ball game today coach has no choice here the offense has to stay on the field down multiple possessions this late fourth down attempt coming makes the grab and he's got the first they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally here Le and the Trojans have it with a first and 10 looking to move it through the air and the pass is incomplete but the flag flies and there was a lot of early contact there and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air you simply can't do it and the referee's caught comes out throwing on first down and he had it for a second but it just dribbled out of his hands and this is just one of those days man where everything has gone wrong right like they just haven't been in a rhythm they haven't they haven't got it going and never built the momentum this is this is one of those days you learn from you try to grow from a lot of things that we're going to show in the film room that people aren't going to like but hopefully you can learn from it and do better next time and he drops it just took his eye off of it at the last minute you know it's difficult for QBs sometimes when you're throwing to your running backs because they're not receivers you really got to be perfect with the ball placement you got to make that a catchable throw a little bit too tough for the RB on that one they were on the move but two straight incompletions have them staring at third and 10 looking downfield it's Moss all kinds of room to throw that one in there and the catch and run into the end zone touchdown Southern C nice job by the offense going down the field putting points on the board but you're still down a couple possessions still need some good things to happen you need your kicker to go over there and get warmed up we need an onside we need to score some points we need a lot of things to go right to win this football [Music] game p unit on the field splits the upright they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and they finished the deal with a 26- yd touchdown pass they're definitely up against it time running out down two possessions they'll try the onside kick they were ready for the onside kick and executed perfectly and they secure the football LSU will dive into the Playbook here on offense they're in command of this game now let's see if they tried to rub a little salt in the wound or happy with getting the W yeah and listen this this makes the postgame handshake fun sometimes if you do choose to rub a little salt in it and keep chucking and keep scoring I'm here for it Jesse like your job is to score points it's my job to stop it keep the foot to the accelerator keep trying to play ball I agree a th% that's like Steve sper back in the day when I was playing for the Gators you go and play for him because you want the opportunity to throw the ball so when you get in the game late you're not handing it off we were beating Central Michigan by 80 something points he was still letting us throw the football it's the defense's job to stop you running out the clock seems to be be a mere formality here as they are ready to snap it in Victory formation and they'll take a KN the universal symbol for we have this thing in hand w
