new Michigan State starting quarterback Aiden Charles we haven't really talked about him on this channel before but uh we're going to today he had some very viral quotes yesterday that I think were taken extremely out of context so I want to talk about those uh in just a second but first we spent all last year arguing over Kon Hower and Noah Kim and just the quarterback room in general uh don't miss those days whatsoever I just want to state where I'm at for for the audience here Michigan state has a dog at quarterback they have a great quarterback Aiden Charles is going to be fantastic he's a talent he is the future he's also the Pres I think he's an allconference level quarterback right now maybe an All-American down the line maybe a pro down the line but like let's not dance around the fact that Aiden Charles is very good and I am so thankful that I don't need to hear you try to talk me into like a rocky Lombardi level guy as the future anymore one day you'll let one day you'll let it go one day you truly will let I'm never going to let it go you got to um yeah you know not all schools in Michigan have their quarterback already selected as their month out so uh score one for us I'm I'm surprised that we're not six deep we're just going to figured out how old is Aiden child's I guess that's where he would fall in the seniority line or whatever this is but no it's it is very exciting to have him in the fold um it's been a while since we even I mean I say a while honestly it's he is a different type of quarterback than MSU has like ever really had like you remember the whole hype about what was his name uh the Dual threat guy was it Damen Terry Damen Terry y yeah or or like a messiah De Weaver type like there used to be like the that was you know that was going to be the Dual threat guy but we never really had that Aiden Charles has that ability he's extremely athletic uh extremely intriguing even in the small amount of reps that he had uh last season with Oregon State but I'm very excited about him I love the mentality obviously you said that it was a little bit taken out of context because he went on to say that everybody has the same mentality on this team to be the best and his goal is to prove it um but also like I I love it like go ahead and talk your [ __ ] you do want to I mean why play the game if you don't want to be the best like that typically is the best type of mentality for the players that end up being great or end up being good but my excitement to watch Aiden Charles this season is is is off the charts for sure given given the the quarterback struggles I think over the past couple years yeah so it was Spartans Rivals was the Twitter account Spartans Illustrated that uh it just put up a a still photo of Aiden Charles and the con or the the caption the quote from Aiden being I think I'm the best quarterback in the Big 10 and in the country obviously that is an extremely poppy quote technically those words were said by Aiden Charles uh to just post the photo and that sentence is very out of context in my opinion if you watch the full video in fact we can play the full video it's kind of muffled and hard to hear it but here is the full video that Spartans rival shared um I mean I think well I mean everybody has this mentality but I think I'm the best quarterback in the Big 10 in the nation like everybody has it though so my job is to prove it but you know it comes with the work and also just the team in general like the team so that's I mean it's everybody thinks it but I think I'm the best quarterback in the big tenant in the country um I do think it's fair to like say hey Aiden said this because he did like he didn't he didn't need to actually go to the length of being like I do think I'm that um but yes the context is everybody thinks it so I don't know it like I think it was a little dirty to kind of paint him as this guy who's being like me me me I'm special but at the same time I love to see The Confidence from child and I think the reality is he is not that far off like we did our little college football quarterback's draft um like Quinn eers is obviously great shador is great Carson back a lot of people really like like there are other guy Jaylen Daniels at Kansas has been prolific to me Charles needs to prove it as a starter but talent-wise he is not far behind the very best guys in this Sport and I think the reality is Michigan State goes as he goes so hell yeah step up in front of the microphone say like my job is to be the best quarterback in the country if I do that if he does do that Michigan State it's gonna be a lot better than people think I think yeah and I mean he's gonna be a obviously he's young he's coming into a sophomore season played sparingly last year behind dju but like you said the talent is there the tools are there he him and Jonathan Smith are in lock step like Jay Smith is gushing about him like that's his guy like he believes in him he said I think he was on what was it XM yesterday and he had he said I think this was part of the quote he said he went on to say a lot of stuff about him but he's like he's talented but he's instinctive and the game just kind of comes natural to him and I for God I I need to start like bookmarking these tweets that I see as I go through the timeline but there was another uh college football Twitter page that kind of went through the things that Jonathan Smith does like schematically to put his quarterbacks in like the best spot um so I think he's gonna have you know the belief tools to uh be successful now he's a true sophomore with no basically starting starting uh experience coming into a new conference new team new all that right um and you got to see how other parts of the team kind of come along like offensive line especially but you know if you are going to have some offensive line issues maybe it be nice to have a quarterback that can move a little bit like G child so the excitement just to watch him alone from Michigan State football is um you know it's get it's got me counting down the days until Florida Atlantic pulls up yeah as it should it's that time
