gersner oil the Meat Lodge Conan Distributing the move Group AA now we go live to the action it's Saturday afternoon you know what that means college football on KY NT along with tell Tanner I'm Steve Tom welcome to the 2024 season for Mount Marty Lancer football we are broadcasting live from Canton Missouri home of the wild cats of Culver Stockton there the host team as the Lancers are on the road not just today but first the first three games of the regular season the road trip begins here in Missouri the Wildcats taking on the Lancers a rematch of last year's opener that was played in Yankton 2823 Lancers prevailed in a very close game last year tell that was an exciting football game we're expecting another one here today but there have been changes in the college football scene and changes for the Lancers changes for the Wildcats first of all in the conference Waldorf in Jamestown out of the conference so the number of teams in conference remain the same but for the Lancers they're going to have a little bit different look this year and it starts on offense at the quarterback position that it does a yankon native is going to be taking over the helm at the quarterback position a red shirt freshman in rugby riken Lancer fans should be familiar with that name Yankton fan should be familiar with that name he was an Allstate athlete in high school since he was in the same division as Lincoln Keen Holtz out up here he ended up being a very very good high school quarterback came to the Lancers red shirted last year under kenay and is now taken over at the helm here for his red shirt freshman season we are very excited to see he is a guy who is very smart he knows how to not take hits he can get the ball downfield and is very smart when running the option as well we're excited for him yeah Ken gay II uh had to uh kind of quit his football career due to injuries and just not able to recover from those injuries has sustained late last year and we certainly wish the young man well as he continues his uh academic career and whatever life may unfold for him and he hate to see any athlete you know we we've covered Sports and we've seen various men and women in college athletics have to hang it up because of an injury and it you know you they doctors tell them hey if you get hurt again it could have very long-term consequences I've seen that again men and women in various Sports throughout college and it's just a shame and again we wish Ken well he played outstanding the last couple of years for the Lancers there's a new look on defense for Mount Marty as well there's a new look on defense there's a new look on offense there's a new look everywhere it's a new season and there's new faces one of the biggest changes is John MTI is taking back over the helm as the defensive play caller and the defensive coordinator after the departure of the DC last year in Brian Grace John molleti is taking over that role once again so on the offensive side of things it will be Josh Lewis in his fourth year now as the offensive play caller for the lancers and John MTI will be taking over defensive play calling duties once again there's a couple different new faces here including Aaron Muhammad and Amir Conley those are names that Lancer fans are going to get familiar with after that there is a lot of familiar faces with the Lancers defense there's Cameron Middleton there's Tyrell Klein Jacob lambath Jo Josh pickthorne dalen Norman James Brindley Gabe Baptista there are a lot of returners on this defense this is a veteran lineup they're ready for conference play and now they get a very good game to get ready for that tough gpack schedule in a very good program in Culver Stockton yeah Culver Stockton struggled last year only one and 10 but man they had a good good start to the year especially against the Lancers they did unfortunately injuries racked up for the wild cats and they just never really could find their stride they did win in overtime against Missouri Baptist uh 3330 but this team for Culver Stockton really struggled on offense they only averaged 11 points per game on offense going one and 10 on the season and in their last seven games they only scored in double digits once we'll talk more about the Wildcats and the Lancers as the Dakota Beverage pregame show rolls on we've got a lot in store for you we'll talk with Coach MTI we'll talk with Tom Sally the head coach for the Wildcats and we've got our usual array of reports coming your way tell why don't you inform us of what's coming up as well oh there's a couple of really special things first off we spoke with the commissioner of the Great Plains Athletic Conference that'll be coming up next year I spoke with Cory Wester about the gpack network that is going to be launching this season not for this game but for games in the future you're going to be able to find him there all around the all around the gack so we spoke with the commish about that and then we had a player feature interview with Jacob Lambeth one of the captains of this team one of the middle linebackers the defensive uh play caller signal caller and he is very very good dude we spoke with him that's coming up in the pregame show as well you bet it's all part of the Dakota Beverage pregame show we're going to take a timeout right now we'll come back with the commissioner Cory Westra after this break along with tell Tanner my name is Steve Tom this is Lancer football and you are listening to kynt what's the best beverage to enjoy while rooting on your team 1919 root beer of when visiting or arranging rooms for guests to Yankton and now it's time for our gpack report from Dakota ma this week I was able to speak with the commissioner of the Great Plains Athletic Conference about the launch of the gpack network which Dakota ma played a huge hand in let's go now to my talk earlier this week with the commissioner of the gpac Cory Westra well it's a pretty fun Saturday when you have the start of football season and it's been a fun week already with uh early games on Thursday night and uh Labor Day weekend really means that we're getting underway with the season absolutely and a new addition with the season obviously is the new addition of the gpack network can you tell me about this and how it's going to benefit fans of the gpack yeah it's been a great summer uh you know getting the gpack network launched uh is kind of a dream come true uh it's been a labor of love I guess you could say something that I know I personally as commissioner wanted for a very long time but you know ultimately I do think our members wanted as well we just had to find the right way to get it done and uh you know I want to give a huge shout out to Kurt dyra uh with your group there at Riverfront and KY NT for for his help along the way uh not only helping Foster the partnership with Dakota Mack who's the presenting sponsor and Jeff wolf Graham and all that but also just his expertise and being in the field and being a boots on the ground guy just saying hey this is what we need to look at and just having somebody that I could talk through so uh really all started uh getting rolling quickly uh back at quarterback Club in Yankton uh back in February and uh just uh all the things started to come together and uh it culminated with our announcement back in July and uh it's up and running we're very excited about it and uh it just it looks great so far uh the viewership numbers have been awesome through the first uh few weeks of games for uh non-conference soccer and non-conference volleyball primarily so uh the dream coming true uh also has worked pretty well so that's a win winning combination so can you tell me where to find this how do you download it can you get it on your your Roku your smart TV how do you get it yeah so I think the one you know the area I'm most excited about is the Smart TV option which is Roku Fire TV uh Android TV and Apple TV and all those apps are uh up and running and you can just download Lo them to your smart TV and you'll get the gpack network panel or you know a box there and you're right there in the network you can go in and then from that poth if you just want to see the games that are on today or the the past broadcast you could do it that way or you can favorite whatever School uh you want to do you could do them all on the bottom or you could just do Mount Marty since we're talking to mount Marty uh but you can just watch them right on your TV like you're watching college game day heading into a big 10 game so uh pretty pretty cool deal how the smart TV option works and then online it's at the gpack network.com and then also on apps through Android and Apple um I hope by the time we're talking here today that the Apple app is up and running we've had a slight delay in that platform but uh I promise your listeners it is coming and uh we will have it any moment now uh and then the whole Suite of everything will be fully up and running well Mr commissioner thank you very much for joining me today I'm excited about this I appreciate it brought to you by Dakota Mac here on the pregame show for Mount Marty football from Dakota Beverage my name is tell Tanner we go to our Lancer player profile now from Lewis and Clark for Jacob Lambeth a senior for the defense of this Mount Marty Lancers football team coming in to talk with me today Jacob thank you for coming in I'm excited to talk with you of course thanks for having me we did one of these last year we were get to know you a little bit then but for the folks at home give us a reminder of where you're at on the field what number you wear so they can look for you today yeah I'm the uh Mike backer directly center of the field on the defense wearing number 40 wearing number 40 you'll find him flying around you like to fly around is that a phrase that gets thrown around the defense a lot yeah definitely so when I asked coach meletti who should who we should talk to this first week yours was the first name out of his mouth you you were the guy that he he thought we should bring in so tell me why that is tell me about this team tell me what we're going to expect this year awesome yeah you know I'm not going to make any bold predictions about what we're going to do this year what we have done and are going to do we instilled a blue collar work ethic with how we approached our business especially in the spring but in the fall as well we've created a great standard um that I feel guys have uh not only followed but have built upon as well I've mentioned a few times uh we have a lot of leadership L talks and you know the last few years have been foundational years creating a foundation now it's win now um and satisfaction is not something we seek um a six and five record 500 percent you know none of that we won a championship and so um you know I made it clear I'm I did get elected Captain this year I made it clear um to my guys that this is this is the goal um you know Mount Marty football we haven't seen a winning season yet but a goal isn't winning season a goal is a ring so uh definitely uh the standard that we've put in forward this year what is the process of naming the captains how does that work well this year they uh they had a group of guys that wanted to be elected Captain speak to the team and uh I believe a group of 15 dudes uh stepped up and um it it was all on the players vote for who you think the best uh best four are and not best four but you know most you know our captains right our captains so um we also have a huge leadership group which is the guys that were're brave enough to step in front of the team and speak um but I like that there was so many that want that wanted that role that felt they were the guy I like that ex yeah definitely it it was it was cool to see some freshman uh who were last year Isaac crownover I'm sure remember him Brock lubers those two were very brave to step up in front of the team obviously guys who may not have um you know talked a lot last season but definitely showed their Voice this year which has been extremely helpful uh in the process as well so every single one of them they all are a part of building the standard that we've set um and uh yeah it was a very honorable thing to do and now in your senior year you were selected Captain by your teammates what did that mean when you got told that you were the one they wanted I mean it's obviously it's a privilege it's an honor to lead this group of men um everyone has the right mindset everyone has the same goal it felt great um I was a captain on my last school I made it a goal this year um to to lead I didn't necessarily need the title but it was definitely something where I was very proud of myself to do so um and to to earn that kind of responsibility uh which I feel I've taken and I've kind of ran with it I'm ready to go uh and Lead these uh young men on the field and off the field as well um mentioned yesterday to the group and this is a business trip we have coming up and uh and uh it's it's definitely a privilege to lead these guys into into the battle we got going on this season speaking of off the field let's talk about the classroom what's your major I'm a physical Leed and secondary elementary uh major um probably going to try to get my masters in special education as well I just want to get in the educational field um I also want to be a coach so that'll definitely help them boost the resume be a head coach one day so um that'll definitely help uh so yeah so when it comes to what's next for Jacob lambath tell me do you have a plan do you know what's coming post College what's going um I've talked to Coach Mick he wants me to stay and help coach the linebackers um the goal as the ga here for a couple years um I want to build that resume and eventually defensive coordinator head coach um D1 NFL I mean that's that's the goal man as far as you can go as far as I can go and uh I want to make it to where it's a it's a living I can make a career out of it I can make some money out of it um yeah I love the sport of football I love studying the sport of football I love watching film I love teaching it um love having guys over and teaching what I'm seeing so definitely uh that's that's the goal coach coach after this well I tell you what man I'm going to be rooting for you I can tell you that I appreciate that thank you very much for coming in today I appreciate your time good luck throughout the season obviously you got week zero coming up so good luck thank you so much that brought to you by Lewis and Clark Ford this is the pregame show from Dakota Beverage I'm tell Tanner m already playing Culver Stockton first game of the year a great uh day here not a cloud in the sky 84° the temperature as we're getting set for kickoff we're a little over a half hour away and tell that interview with Jacob that was really fascinating and uh understand there's more oh there's so much more to it that was less than half of the interview so I spoke with Jacob lambath and this year one of the things we're doing differently is we're posting all these player interviews online so there's kind of an easy way to find them if you go to the kynt 1021 1450 uh KY NT Facebook page you'll find it there you'll find a recording of the full 8 and 1/2 9 Minute interview I believe I spent a lot of time talking with this guy he's a really interesting dude we talked about what's next we talked a little bit more in depth about the team his thoughts on everything obviously his coach and their decision to come to mount Marty in the first place this was a dude who was living in a beach house in California playing college football and decided to come to South Dakota and play for the lancers and it's an interesting decision as to why so go to the kynt Facebook page you'll find the full interview there and we are getting ready for the Lancers taking on the Wildcats of Culver Stockton he's tell Tanner I'm Steve Tom this is the Dakota Beverage pregame show the wild cats we mentioned at the top of the program really struggled on offense last year only averaging 11 points per game interesting stat last year the Wildcats all season long scored three points in the first quarter they were outscored on the season by their opponents 109 to3 in the first quarter an amazing stat and it's tough to play tell when you're constantly climbing up hill yeah it absolutely is once you're climbing up hill you kind of get onedimensional you lose the running game you got to throw more and unfortunately when it came to their yardage in their points per game as you said it just wasn't quite there they averaged 268 yards a game last season 99 rushing yards a game not bad but only 168 passing yards a game and 11 points per game that's just not going to get it done obviously we talked about last year there were a lot of injuries things that derailed a couple of things for their season hopefully this year they're going to get things figured out they've got a good head coach they've got great facilities and they're in a conference where they can get some wins I do expect a better year for Culver Stockton for them it needs to start today against a quality opponent in Mount Marty University that they fell to on the road last year now they're the home team facing a team that they lost in a onore game Culver Stockton this is the game where they can kind of start to bounce back yeah this is a very important game obviously for the Wildcats Tom Sally is their head coach I took a CH or had an opportunity to talk to him earlier we're going to take a timeout right now and we're going to come back and feature that interview with the wild hat cat head coach Tom Sally that is the Rival report it's brought to you by Fairfield by Marriott and the holiday and express they member [Music] FDIC the Dakota Beverage pregame show continues here on kynt it's time now to talk to the opposing coach and that is Tom Sally of the Wildcats of Culver Stockton College this interview brought to you by Fairfield by Marriott and the holiday in express coach thanks for taking time to talk to us today it's a new season you start off against Mount Marty last year a very close game in yanked and this year you got the Lancers at home what did you take away as far as the what you know about the Lancers from last year's game well me and coach we're pretty good friends and and he's a great man and so um obviously being able to see how well he coaches his guys up and gets them gets them ready for a game and and how I know he's going to bring in a bunch of good players here this offseason so it's a it's a pretty scary one to start with for us but um we're really excited about what we had going on in the offseason and and our guys and kind of what we got going on going into the fall here but last game last year's game was super competitive super close it was a fun thing to be a part of and um looking forward to another good game this year all right let's talk about some of the changes on your team because I was looking at your roster for this year compared to last year a number of new faces I see in the starting lineup tell us about about some of the new players coming into your program um yeah you know we obviously didn't have the year that we uh expected or that we expect around here last year and so we went out on the recruiting Trail and and got some guys and um you know we changed at pretty much every skill spot on offense except for maybe one um our old linemen are a year older a year stronger a year bigger and so we're really excited about that giving our guys a chance to go out there and just make plays you know our starting quarterback Drake day um he's a he's a grad trans for kid he'll he'll be here this year he came in the offseason did an amazing job for us he's a great leader um film nut he's always in our office asking us questions and so he's a good guy to have have in your program and then um on the outside uh we returned Bobby azard and Gavin Gardner who are two good players for us last year but we've added a lot Kyle Kyle Dixon and Aiden Jones and Hunter Hester who's a year older now and um Elijah Edmonds and the list kind of goes on and on and on at receiver we're we have a little bit of embarr embarrassment or riches um we like to think and so uh that group really got a lot better and and our running backs you know um uh demary and cob would kind of step up and be our number one this year but we returned Tyler Dany a kid that was on our team last year and and we have a red shirt kid Nick Jarrett that uh is is really good you know he's not the biggest kid in the world but he's a hard to tackle and and he runs the ball really really well well with the new players on offense do you have a different offensive scheme this year uh well hopefully the scheme is score touchdowns cuz we didn't do that enough last year but uh yeah I mean there's different things there's different wrinkles in it but I mean you know if you have a program that you believe in and and you trust you kind of do what you do and you say hey this is what we do and everybody knows we're doing it and you're going to stop us or you're not you know and so that's kind of the philosophy we have we're going to line up and we're just going to play football and let our guys go make us coaches look smart talk about your defense what's new this year for the Wildcat defense um you know just kind of an attitude of takeaways this year that that we brought into the off season where our guys are looking for a takeaway on every single play is kind of what their expectation is they understand that if we make the other team snap the ball again um that we have a chance to make that next play you know uh we talked a lot about quit worrying about the last play because there's nothing you can do to change that and moveing on to the next one and I think our guys have have really embraced that and really kind of used that as a mantra to to come out and just make them snap it again and and as we've done that in Camp they've continued to make plays so they're they're they're fun to watch you know we're really young um pretty much everywhere except a couple guys on dline so um you know it's a bunch of freshman and sophomores that are going to be out there and expected to make plays for us of course the X Factor for many close games is special teams how's the Special Teams unit lining up this year they're doing good you know Ethan Binger is our kicker and he was our kicker last year won us a game um on the last second field goal and so he does a great job on that you know we got to do we do have a new Young punter um and and we're excited about him he does a really good job and just you know when you're offens and defensive guys buy into the Special Teams and want to be on them it makes them a lot better and and that's what we got a lot of our older guys begging to to be on them because they understand it's important and it makes the those units a little bit better you know it's not you're not taking who who wants to do it everybody wants to do it and so uh we're excited about that and who has stepped up in the leadership roles on your team coming into this season um two of our big captains are deman Cobb and Kendall fer both of them are are seniors um you know Demarion has worked hard to put himself in this position he's a a great young man does everything right both on and off the field he's got a 365 GPA um he he's just a great great human being you know you love having him around you wish everybody was kind of exactly like him and Kendall fer is kind of the same thing um he he graduated last year um from Culver and has come back uh when he had a bunch of opportunities to go do different things and in a world nowadays where transferring is the norm rather than the the exception he decided that he wasn't going to leave things the way they were last year and he decided to come back and and work hard to get those things turned around and so um I'll be forever grateful to him for doing that um he's a pretty special young man coach thanks for your time and good luck today thank you very much have a great day Tom Sally the head coach for the wild cats of Culver Stockton this interview being brought to you by Fairfield by Marriott and the holiday in express we'll be back [Music] fit [Music] first all right let's go ahead and keep things rolling here on our pregame show from Dakota Beverage my name is tell Tanner we go to our mmu coach interview from sherko now and you need to be sure make it shco John MTI now in the booth getting ready for Culver Stockton this is Thursday we're recording this on cuz we kind of get on the road here pretty quick going over all the way to Missouri first off walk me through the next couple days of how you're getting there how you're preparing and the start of the game yeah so uh we switched up our practice schedule a little bit this week uh because we had to hit the road Friday morning so uh usually moving forward Thursdays will be our off day from practice uh but yesterday Wednesday uh was our off week this week so we couldn't hit the road and uh or practice then hit the road early on Friday so 10 o'clock uh we'll be departing uh for Gilbert Iowa that's a home of Trey Hansen he'll uh his dad's setting it all up there for us to be able to stop there get a quick uh fly through practice in stretch the legs out a little bit get a quick meal in and then finish our way over to Kook Iowa where we'll be staying uh the night before the game um that's the the fun part is is then scripting what we're going to be doing all of Saturday morning before yeah you got a long time it's a 5:00 game you got to keep everybody entertained and the hotel obviously he's got to turn over the beds and all that stuff too for the next people that come in so we we can't hang out on there all day so get ready for our normal pregame stuff and kick offs at 5:00 p.m. so and it was a heck of a game last year it was a lot of fun you were able to get the win at home now you go to their plays what's different in this year's game yeah um well uh obviously we have some new faces they have some new faces uh it's different because we've now played each other so everybody has a little bit different expectations of of of going into the game um but honestly the same thing we got to make sure we control oursel you know if we can take care of the ball limit the mistakes you know make sure there's no big plays get extra hats to the ball the the very minor but very important things uh we take care of those then uh the rush should take care of itself so uh our guys are getting after it in practice they're getting a little chippy with each other which you like to see and it's about that time where they can they're ready to hit somebody else H somebody else exactly so hopefully we can keep it together on the bus ride tell me about your defense we just got to speak with Jacob lambath one of your captains and your middle linebacker and I absolutely enjoyed that conversation with him we heard it earlier in this pregame when this is going to be playing but can you tell me about your Defence and that guy yeah Jacob's a very special uh not only athlete but a a person he's very uh charismatic and great leader you know you know and he obviously he transferred in here a year ago so it took him a little bit of time of uh really observing everything and where he fits in and how we do things here but uh he's our he he's the the guy that checks everything out there on the field uh we'll make the call and all that stuff but he's the one that will get everybody lined up and actually we just went over that again in the meetings like hey whatever he calls is right you know as long as he's got everybody playing with him we'll be fine so he uh gets everybody set up he makes the calls he's runs meetings by himself at times you know we'll bring the linebackers over bring the dline over bring the DBS over and make sure everybody's seeing the same thing so uh you know it's super important to him I hope one day that uh we can get him on our staff when he's all done and I I know no matter what he'll be a great coach wherever he's at but uh very blessed to have him on our team and those type of guys really makes our jobs easier uh but have some uh a lot of returners there at defensive line with a couple new guys uh Devon Williams and Dylan Bartell's um we'll rotate in on some of the edge spots uh the linebacking Corp led by Jacob lambath and uh some of the returners as Josh pickthorne and uh DJ Wilson uh and then the back end uh game Baptista is our is our guy that checks all our coverage part and he's kind of the assistant to lambath of uh if you want to look at a CEO in a business and all that stuff so uh but no a lot of guys returned on the back end a few new new faces with asaram Mohammad and Amir Conley at corner but uh very eager to see these guys and we got some depth so you'll see quite a few guys at a few different spots as well and there's certainly no way I can ask you about one of the biggest question marks of the start of the Season freshman quarterback in there Yankton guy a lot of people are excited tell me about the offense and rugby riken yeah of course got to start uh with the quarterback and uh it's been an ongoing battle uh you know since Spring ball with uh rugby and Clayton and then we even brought in uh pton hoker uh at fall camp this year and those guys did an excellent job of obviously competing with each other and and and you know the whole iron sharpens iron but also buying into one another and being the biggest supporter of the other one when the other one's on the field so uh obviously the Yankton people you know they know what they kind of expect with rugby he's a competitor he's going to dump it all out he's not going to get beat by not watching film or not sacrificing doing something he's going to give everything to every play and as a coach that's what you want you know and um you know I'm a big uh basketball guy too so being able to watch him on the basketball court was fun this last year but definitely glad that he's back there uh uh behind Center and and kind of controlling our offense and you know I'm I'm eager to see how he handles a little bit of the adversity that happens uh in the game and in the end I I I know we're safe with the ball in his hand so glad that he's starting the uh uh the first game there and we got a lot of guys around him that have a lot of experience which help ease some of that uh uh nerves or whatever that might be that the first few drives so a lot of the old lineman's coming back we got a new tackle at Old Lineo Winningham um new running back room with Malachi Harts and Kyle hch uh ishma Sloan Arthur Oliver and Jaden horach and then a lot of the guys on the edge have been there for four years so um a lot of guys know what they need to be doing where they're supposed to be at it's just uh going to come down to rugby doing what rugby does best and making plays coach thank you very much for your time good luck appreciate it that brought to you by sh Co when you need to be sure make it sh Co back in a couple of minutes on kyt at El Family Dental Care we treat our patients like Stockton playing host to mount Marty it's the start of the 20124 football season here on kynt along with tell Tanner I'm Steve Tom great to have you here we're heading into the home stretch of the Dakota Beverage pregame show the teams have just come out of the locker room in a moment we will have the coin toss as the team captains are making their way to the center of the field momentarily bright day here 84° no wind to speak of and tell on a bright day like today Fielding punts in kickoffs if you're looking up into the Sun or catching a high pass where you're looking up into the sun could be difficult oh absolutely that's always a difficult thing that's why I always have so much respect for wide receivers both at the college level high school NFL wherever they're at wide receivers have jobs that are just weird the instincts of a wide receiver on the ball are just something to be spoken of but yeah it's going to be difficult today I wonder if we're going to see something like that in the kickoff you always see home teams uh know exactly what they want there know where it's going to be in the fourth quarter with a 5pm kickoff nowh it's going to be in the first I'm excited to see what happens with that with the uh coin toss of who decides which way they're going specifically for that battle yeah now the sun will be going down as the game progress going to be more in the eyes of the quarterback and receivers everybody or especially if you're running a pattern out to the near sideline from our broadcast location you're going to be looking back into the sun uh so that uh may play a factor in today's game as the teams are getting lined up here and while we got a moment here come the Wildcats onto the field they're dressed in blue from head to toe with the white numbers and letters lancers and the white uniforms the gold helmets the gold pants the navy blue letter or numbers and letters for their uniforms today and we're getting ready for the first half of football now brought to you by Dakota ma now whether you're a farmer Rancher investor or simply a Lancer fan you can look to Dakota Mac for your EG financial needs visit dakota.com to learn more we also want to make sure we tell you about the officiating crew for today Stan lopan is the referee Rick Bloom is the Umpire Jamie C is the head linesman John Clayton the line judge Matt McDonald the side judge Brad Henson is the back judge Kirsten wetterstrom is the center judge and the field judge is Kell SMY your officiating crew for today teams will have the uh captains head out to the field here in just a moment we will have the coin toss tell keys to the game as you see it for both the Wildcats and the Lancers for the Lancers it's got to be taken care of the football today you know they've got a freshman quarterback making his first start at the quarterback pos position things are different now when you move up a level the good news for rugby reiken is he had a red shirt year he has got up to speed with the college game with a full year of practice against his own guys now he gets to go out here and play somebody else he gets to hit somebody else he gets to throw against somebody else and that's going to be good for a Young quarterback the one thing he has to do today take care of the ball if we get out of here uh today without any interceptions or fumbles I'm going to be very happy with the performance from this Young quarterback for Culver Stockton it's got to be starting fast we talked about the struggles in the first quarter it was a rampant disease at last season that just plagued their entire season from start to finish they did not score more than three points in the first quarter all season long and that just cannot happen this year it just cannot happen this year and if it's going to and if they're going to get fixed this year needs to start today and Drake day a lot of pressure on the junior he's out of Story City Louisiana he is one of the captains of this team a new quarterback remember last year Brock neller was their quarterback and one of the strangest plays that happened last year in Yankton was that uh neller was ejected from that game uh was unsportsmanlike conduct two penalties he was celebrating a bit too much after some scores and uh he got tossed out of the game and uh you know it's rare that you see a quarterback tossed out I I've never seen it before not for un Sportsman like conduct no especially happening multiple times in a game that was definitely kind of a black spot on the record of that season when you start the year with your starting quarterback getting thrown out for multiple unsportsmanlike penalties and it wasn't one incident where they just it was egregious enough where they just threw them out it was multiple times in the game one of them was happened in the first half and then it happened again in the second half after the second one he's gone and that's really changed the momentum in this game yes it did so believe that the wildcat won the toss and deferred we'll see how the teams deploy for the kickoff here momentarily as we are getting set for the start of the 2024 season Lancer football right here on kynt I'm Steve T he's tell Tanner it's great to have you here for this game again a little unusual start time 5:00 kickoff sunny skies not a cloud in the sky no wind 85° it's not going to cool off that much as the evening progress at least that's what the weather forecast is but a gorgeous day for college football we've got Tailgators all around the uh including some Lancer Tailgators here yeah shout out the family family of number 33 Cameron Middleton there they got their they're set up in one of the corners of the end zone they got their tent the Texas flag and they were they were telling us to come get some food pregame unfortunately we're on the clock and we couldn't do it but appreciate the invite no they're over there a bunch of lcer Gators this is a good fan base I'm excited for the year and a very nice facility here in Canton Missouri as the referees are meeting at the center of the field to discuss their final preparations for today's contest the Wildcats the home team playing that heart of America conference a very tough conference for football they struggled last year especially on offense only averaging 11.4 points per game they gave up 34. four points per game on defense minus 20 that's not going to cut the mustard especially in that very tough Football Conference Ethan blue longer is heading out to the field so it will be Culver Stockton to kick off Lancers will get the football first that means Wildcats get it for the start of the second half great to have you here three and eight were the Lancers last year some disappointing losses along the way maybe they can turn it around but but a lot of question marks with all the new faces for the lancers and the Wildcats as we begin this football season dropping back deep for Mount Marty Josiah gani and Trey Hansen they will be the kick returners standing inside the 10 yd line Culver Stockton kicking off right to left on your radio dial we've got 15 minutes on the clock here we go the season is underway high end over and kick middle of the field Hansen from the nine runs to his right he's got a hole across the 30 and he's shoved out of bounds near the 40 yd line right in front of the Wildcat bench good blocking on the return oh beautiful blocking on the return opened up a hole right around the 20 yd line he's able to burst through it get an extra 20 yards across the 40 you can't ask for better field position to start for the Lancers yep the referee will put the ball down at the 42 yd line first and 10 Malachi Harts will stand behind the quarterback in the pistol formation that's rugby rikin sends three receivers to the left one man out that's Broadneck to the right here comes Heath in motion he'll line up on the right side now hand off up the middle Harts has a hole across Midfield drags some Defenders to the 44 yd line first down they'll say his knees down at the 45 move the chains first down Lancers yeah good little jump cut right in the center of that offensive line as hole open to the right got in the open space first down run to start it off just inside the 45 yd line of the Wildcats hars tries the left side shrugs a man gets to the 40 Dives ahead to the 39 yd line on the left side we're going to see new running backs for the Lancers this year obviously the graduation of Isaiah Thomas who kind of became the Bell Cal last year Malachi hars gets the start we're going to see Kyle hch a freshman this year Jaden harat fans know him as Hooch we're going to see all three of those guys today yep Tyrie Morrison also graduating he was the main player in that running back Core last year for Mount Marty just underway just under 12 minutes left to go first quarter lancer's first possession of the game handoff Hearts Sid steps a man and then runs into the heart of the Wildcat defense got a yard and that's all that took play took a little time to develop so first three plays all runs for the Lancers we knew they were going to come out running the football that's always the Lancers emmo they want to establish the run now you've got third and medium about four yards to go do you go to the air with the Young quarterback or try one more time on the ground two receivers to the left one out to the right movement on the line now the Lancers will look to the sideline for a play plenty of time on the play clock so it is winding down Heath lined up at a HB back on the left side here comes a Man in Motion it's Hansen they fake it Hart has a opening he's inside the 30 running to the left side first down Malachi Harts the big run he has been the offense so far for Mount Marty a great read by The Freshman too on the read option there didn't go with the Jet Sweep Trey Hansen was moving left to right end up giving it to the running back got the first down now you're inside of the 30 yd line of your opponent to start off your opening drive this is going well so far for the Lancers Kyle HS in the Freshman out of gayville at running back here's a Man in Motion broadnax he'll get the Jet Sweep he's got an opening he's to the 20 and pushed out of bounds flag down inside the 15 yard line this one may be coming back we'll see yeah it's in the area where Trey Hansen was trying to get a block on the outside not sure if this is going to be a holding call on the offense it's looking like that's what it might be the flag thrown in that area and the Lancers are backing up here holding on the offense 1221 left first quarter yeah didn't hear the number of the player but the flags were thrown where Trey Hansen was on the edge so you got to assume that's where it would be and that will back up the Lancers it'll be first down over again remember it's from the spot of the infraction referees will put the ball down inside the 30 at the 28 so might still get a positive gain out of this play or at least at the original line of scrimmage right there yeah well well it's a doover essentially first and 10 the penalty happened 10 yards downfield empty backfield riken swing pass HS on the left side has a block darts to the left side he's to the sideline down the side line he's in the end zone touchdown Lancers on the swing out pass on the screen and the very first pass of the season for the Young quarterback takes it to the house for six and there was a good block by one of the receivers out on the left side of the formation opened up the sideline Kyle Hirsch The Freshman his first reception and it goes for a touchdown 28 yards officially on that play now here comes Jack finder for the point after kick Jace maner is the holder for the right-footed kicker great drive by the Lancers to open up the season kick is going to hit the crossbar one of the uprights no good it bounces off the upright and so we stay at six to nothing Lancers on top first quarter 1211 left to go we'll be back after this 30C break on kynt a big thank you from Mount Marty University to one one of yankton's greatest employers and friend of the community Aztec they're very proud to support the mount Marty Lancers the vision at Aztec is to build industry changing solutions that create lifechanging opportunities and you can build a career with the group that's built to connect from Rock to Road click careers at Aztec industries.com best wishes Mount Marty from your friends at Aztec great start for Mount Marty they missed the extra point but they drive down the field after taking the opening kickoff and they score the touchdown 1211 left to go first quarter it is 6 nothing lancers and I love what we just saw there established the Run Malachi Harts was running over the top of people he was getting in space and then you have a penalty you go back you go to the air and what happens red shirt freshman to freshman in riken to HS first career pass attempt first career reception goes for a touchdown I love that five plays 58 yards on that time of possession unofficial and here comes a kickoff it's going to bounce near the sideline over on the far side of the field and nobody really went to get it but it was finally touched by a wildcat player and he had to cover it up at the 13 yd line boy a little confusion there I think on the wildcat special team that kick was kind of in no man's land absolutely that well that kick it looked like it was going out of bounds so the returner was just happy to let it go out of bounds take the yardage off of it but then it just bounced right up the sideline it just wouldn't go out little bit of luck for the Lancers on their opening kickoff yep they'll pin the Wildcats back deep at their own 13 yd line they operate right to left on your radio dial along with tell Tanner Steve tomb here now the debut of Drake day the junior quarterback out of Illinois he'll be guiding the Wildcat offense they'll send two receivers out to the left one out to the right two men in motion as they'll have a couple of wing backs or a wing back to the left running play up the middle and it's going to be stuffed and shut down no gain actually a loss of nearly two yards on the play that was Cobb who got the football and he had nowhere to go the Lancers are extremely experienced up front their front seven seniors and a junior this is going to be a heavy year for returners for the Lancers now second down and 12 two receivers to the right one to the left couple men come in motion a tight end shifts around now a receiver splits out to the left hand side swing pass incomplete out to the right side and boy a lot of contact downfield between a couple of Defenders as that pass was intended for Bobby ezard a red shirt junor out of Georgia he had 16 catches last year a lot of new faces in the passing game and quickly here come the Wildcats back to the line of scrimmage on third down and 12 but a Man in Motion from left to right straight drop back pass down the sideline it is incomplete intended I believe for ezard over on the right sideline it was too high and out of bounds and there's the new DB as we on muhamad getting in there he's out of sou Falls South Dakota went to Roosevelt he's a 59 DB got speed good coverage one-on-one on the outside three and out for the Wildcats first quarter 1128 left to go and the punter comes out that's Joe Kennedy he is new to the program and he has to stand in the middle of his own End Zone on the right hash mark and downfield is gani for the Lancers set to receive he's standing at his own 40 yd line here's the snap it's low penalty flag down this play is dead and that could have been disaster for the Wildcats as that was a low snap and the punter fumbled it but the play is blown dead delay of game on the offense and that was a break for the Wildcats oh they'll take that flag 10 times out of 10 times that was points on the board for the Lancers without that flag that was going to be a block for sure maybe a tackle of the punter in the end on either that was going to be a safety or a touchdown and the penalty backs up the Wildcats five but again they'll gladly take that rather than giving up the points Kennedy standing at the back of his end zone gets the punt away off the right side of his foot and it bounces at the 45 yd line it bounces a little bit forward as far as the lancer's concerned and it's touched down by the special teams near the 42 yd line skani that one angled away from him and the bounce just kind of went uh straight up in the air for the first one and the bounced a little bit in the favor of the Lancers they got good field position absolutely they have good field position here we go with this young offense marching out once again had a great Drive last time established the Run only had that one pass attempt that goes for a wide receiver screen touchdown and ended up being a very impressive first drive now we got empty set to start it yeah four receivers to the right one out to the left and now here comes hirs he'll now stand behind the quarterback in the pistol formation first and 10 hand off Hurst they Tred the left side a big hole he's across the 40 to the 35 down at the 34 that is a gain of nine yards to the left side once again with the running play and once again with the running play the Lancers are getting to the outside very effectively here in the middle they've been opening up big holes in the running game the offensive line is putting in work so far today and who's on that left side the 344 lb senior Patrick Perkins and he's opening up some holes over there Hansen in motion from left to right shotgun set H standing to the right of his quarterback he'll take a hand off slips but Cuts Back Against the Grain he'll have the first down inside the 30 to the 28 move the chains first down of L for the Lancers gain about four yards you mentioned the big left tackle Patrick Perkins you could see the block on that last play this is a guy who 68400 lb last year he dropped 50 lb this last offseason committed to getting down to playing weight he's sitting at 344 entering today and he looks good he's fast he's working and he has had a great day of blocking so far he looks a lot more mobile and quicker off the block does that big left tackle play action riken keeps it runs to his right runs into trouble across the 25 gets to the 22 yd line decent gain nearly a seven yards on that first down quarterback run on the option play Lancers being very methodical moving the ball down the field we knew they'd be running the option this year and it's always fun seeing a team run it run the option with a freshman quarterback you want to know how much film they're studying the one thing MTI has always said about rugby he's not going to get beat by not watching film n and a half minutes to go first quarter Lancers up six to nothing there on the move and Wildcat territory handoff new running back into the game crashes into the line gets near near the first down and that was I believe Ismail SLO Junior out of South Carolina Sloan in at running back first Carry for him and he gets a pretty good carry third down and about two they're inside or near the red zone hand off no Quick Pass it's caught by Heath he's got some room on the left side gets a block he's inside the 10 first down and goal to go at the 6yd line What A Catch by Nick Heath the senior out of Wisconsin well-designed play from the offensive coordinator uh co-offensive coordinator Josh Lewis there was able to recognize the blitz was coming he had that wide receiver screen to the running back on the outside had wide receivers downfield blocking Heath nearly took that one for six now it's first and goal beautiful play design that was very well executed Harts back into the game at running back from the 6yd line first and goal for the Lancers pistol formation two receivers tight end on the left side Harts tries to bounce it to the right and he's tripped up tackled at the five that was a good defensive play by the Wildcats we've got just under 8 minutes to go first quarter Lancers six Wildcats nothing Wildcats went three and out on their first drive Lancers this is their second possession after a punt and they are inide the 10 yd line at the five that was Brooklyn Brooklyn Heyman on the stop there might have saved a touchdown on the tackle Harts stands to the right of his quarterback reiken directing traffic puts a Man in Motion handoff Harts tries the left side slips a man he's going to get into the End Zone after he slips past another tackler touchdown Mount Marty did not get in untouched there was definite contact stayed on his feet kept his balance six on the board for the Lancers once again they lead this game by two scores 719 left to talk about the yak stats yards after contact and Harts doing very well in that department for Mount Marty as he's making tacklers miss him and powering out of potential tacklers and now here's finder for the point after kick maner the holder for Mount Marty High snap brought down this one's on the way and it is good 719 left to go first quarter M Marty 13 Culver stocked to nothing back with the kickoff in 30 seconds on kynt Brandon is super pumped about Runza Runza is so sweet especially all their desserts oh those are the sweet sweetest chocolate vanilla and twist ice cream cones four flavors of shakes chocolate chip cookies and ice cream sandwiches literally sweet a I love your enthusiasm well I love Runza so sweet of you come satisfy your sweet tooth because Runza makes it all better Runza on Broadway by Menards and Yankton that last drive for Mount Marty seven plays covers 43 yards Malachi Harts five yards on the Run he powered through a couple of tacklers 13 nothing first quarter it is Mount Marty on top 719 left to go I'm Steve Tom he is tell Tanner and this has been an outstanding start for Mount Marty especially running the football obviously we've been given credit to the offensive line but Harts has been able to find running Lanes he's been able to find open space right now he's averaging six yards a carry he's got 36 yards in the ground and a touch down on the board Malachi Harts is at a good good start of this game as any other Lancer yeah outstanding start for the lancers and on the other side if you're a wildcat fan you're thinking uh-oh here we go again this kickoff is going to Sail Out of Bounds near the 15 yd line and that's going to provide good field position for Culver Stockton as again this team struggled last year they scored three points in their entire season in the first quarter they are outscored 109 to3 and with with a start like this especially for the fans and maybe some of the players who were on this team last year you know uh-oh here we go again if you're coach Sally you got to Rally your troops and and that we're going to see who can provide leadership here for the Wildcats in the remainder of this first quarter because for the Wildcats it's important for them to get some points on the board extremely you're down two scores you just had a three and out in your first offensive drive now you take over you get decent field position how the wild cats Bond here is going to say a lot about this football team agree completely from the 35 yd line on the right hashm Mark first and 10 day has a back standing to his right splits two receivers off to the left side first and 10 Wildcats down 13 to nothing they're going to hand it off and that's a run up the middle not much there a good second and third effort by Cobb the running back and he turns something or nothing into something that's a very strong run actually that was Nick Jarrett Nick Jarrett the junior running back out of Stanton Tennessee hit at the line of scrimmage powered ahead for about six maybe seven on the play yeah call it a gain of seven second and three that play initially looked like it was going nowhere got away from lambath on that one not easy to do no it is not handoff Jared again he was the red shirt player last year he'll fall for forward but I think they said his knee was down after a one yd gain yep the official from the sideline comes in said nope the knee was down he fell forward to the first down marker but it's going to be third down and a yard and a half to go from the 44 yd line Jared again hitting the back field once twice three times no gain on the Play What a rally by the Lancer defense finished off by Conley this is a team that wants to fly around this year that was a term used to me off the mic by Jacob lambath before this season started they want to fly around on defense they need to put hats on ball carriers they get the three and out once again we'll see what Culver Stockton's got here it's only one yard and they're down two scores in the first half in a non-conference game to open the season I wouldn't hate seeing a seeing a trick play here pting Unis is on there Joe Kennedy is the punter looks like he's going to kick it away and he will gani is going to tell everyone to back off but it bounces right to him at the 15 makes a man miss to the 20 runs to his left he's to the 30 the th 40 yd line boy he was telling everyone to back away but the ball took a bounce right into his bread basket and he got about a 25 yard return on the play we got a penalty flag down I heard some whistles there was a little bit of extracurriculars after the play but I don't see any laundry on the field so I I do I do back at the 38 yd line oh I don't see it and we'll wait for the official pronouncement here from the officials they're talking over on the far side of the field penalty flag was thrown at the 38 ball the gani went out of Bounds at the 40 yd line of Mount Marty and now the options being discussed with the officials I think coach MTI is over there as well I'm sure he wants in on this conversation as the clock has stopped with five 534 left first quarter yeah there comes MTI walking over to the officials right now holding on the return team so they'll back up Mount Marty but they will still maintain possession as that great kick or that great punt return was wiped out well he'll still get about 10 yards out of it he brought that in around the 20 there's still going to start the drive at the 30 but yeah it's not a great way to start the drive that'll be the second holding penalty of the first quarter something to clean up for the Lancers Lancers up 13 nothing 534 left quarter number one I'm Steve tomb he's tell Tanner we're in Canton Missouri it was a block in the back block back that's what it was yes okay Block in the back and here come the Lancers on first down broadnax on the Jet Sweep trying to turn the corner he's across the 35 ankle tackle pulls him down at the 38 still a good run on first down got about seven maybe eight yards depending on the spot M Marty football brought to you in part by cour trust helping you achieve your personal and business goals it's CorTrust Bank raise your expectations with CorTrust member FDIC second down calling about two yds to go they'll put the ball down at the 38 Here Comes The Blitz it's sidestep by hir and he'll get close to the first down marker game of one he's shy of the marker and boy the Wildcats brought the heat on that one that they did he still got a yard out of it yard and a half we've got about a half yard for the first down here's a chance for the Culver Stockton defense to get off the field yeah the big play here for the Wildcat defense they're showing Blitz reiken will tell his troops to settle down they'll look to the far sideline get the play call 29 on the play clock so they got plenty of time no hurry for Mount Marty pistol formation two receivers to the right here comes the Blitz it's a Swing Out Pass and it's caught and Heath lost his footing but gets to the 41 a dive and a first down he's breathing a sigh of relief right now he had some Running Room if he was able to keep his feet it was a good catch being able to bring it in just got his feet tangled up but at least for him he fell over the first down marker so the Downs will reset the chains move lancer's Drive continues M Mar football brought to you in part by Dakota Beverage whether it's Coors Light or Miller light please drink responsibly first and 10 Lancers from their own 41 first quarter 344 left Mount Marty up 13 to nothing pistol formation Here Comes Hansen in motion Blitz coming hand off hars he's tackled behind the line as he tried the left side loss of probably about three yards on the play that time the run blitz paid off for the Wildcats might have to open up a Playbook a little bit here they haven't thrown down the field yet today it's been all wide receiver screens when the quarterback gets the arm moving we'll see if they go down field here on this second and long M Marty football brought to you in part by Lewis and Clark Ford they're a proud sponsor of Mount Marty Athletics visit them at Fourth and capital in Yankton or online at Lewis Clark for.com second down and long 13 yds to go back from the 38 yd line of the Lancers Hansen in motion from left to right now three receivers Trot out on the right hand side pistol formation handoff Hearts again a side step tries the left side has a hole across the 45 to Midfield first down ball came out but no the runner was down by contact at the Wildcat 48 yd line move the chains first down Lancers or just you know run the ball again and you'll get it Malachi Harts has been on one today he's been running the ball very very effectively Mal Marty football brought to you in part by Mason Shram are you buying or selling move with Mason and the move group we thank all of our sponsors for supporting Lancer Athletics here on kynt 215 in counting first quarter lancer's on the move again moving left to right on your radio dial they're up 13 to nothing hot day here in Canton Missouri clear skies an 84° Swing Out Pass caught by hirs and he is tackled after a short gain of maybe a yard on the little screen pass to the right I don't mind the strategy here R running the football throwing screens trying to get your offense settled this is the first game of the year not just for the Young quarterback but for everybody you want to get your team settled now you're up 13-0 you're driving in the first quarter I like the strategy so far this Lancer team has been showing let's see if they'll take a shot throwing the ball downfield here on second down and nine 20 on the play clock reiken brings them up two receivers to the left one out to the right HS stands to his left in the back field play action he's looking downfield he loads up throws the Home Run ball got a man oh incomplete at the 5 yd line beyond the fingertips of Trevor Fitzgerald he was open but the pass just a shade too long yeah just sailed it over the head of the Open Wide Receiver that's a touchdown if it's in the Bread Basket it was a great route by a senior in Trevor Fitzgerald he's been in the program for years he's a yanked to Native those two actually played high school ball together splitting snaps at the quarterback position for a year then it was was rugby reiken taking over for his junior senior year while Trevor Fitzgerald played college ball we finally see the reunion unfortunately the first time they can try and connect it's a little over his head but they're going to be a big one this season that connection 12 on the play clock riken sets him down with the empty pack field three receivers to the left two out to the right play clock winding down 3 seconds 2 seconds and now I believe we've got a timeout called by the Wildcats I'm surprised the wild call timeout that is an interesting one the Lancers were struggling to get the play call off on third down and the Wildcats must have been out of position defensively this time out brought to you by Pizza Ranch for legendary chicken and the best pizza it's Yankton Pizza Ranch on Broadway call at minute 15 left Wildcats just called a timeout it's Mount Marty 13 Culver stocked and nothing wrong with tell Tanner I'm Steve Tom the Wildcats must their defensive coordinator must have saw something out there cuz the play clock was down to 2 seconds looked like the Lancers weren't going to get a play called but they the Wildcats called the timeout cuz they something must have been a Miss on defense it's third down and nine from the 47 yard line of the Wildcats reiken dropping back now rolls out to his left wants to throw he's sack at the 48 yd line of the Lancers he took too long and he was tracked down by a Defender for the Wildcats everybody covered downfield rolling to his left didn't throw across his body to risk an interception it was third down so he was trying to hold on to his long as he can instead of getting rid of it just trying to make a play but here's the first fourth down of the season for the Lancers vicory Mason vicory gets the sack for the Wildcats and the Wildcats defensively needed that play they've been on the field a very very long time now it'll be finder to punt it away two men back deep for civer Stockton Robert Jones Gavin Gardner high kick it'll bounce near the 20 takes a Lancer bounce inside the 10 rolling to the five and it's down near the 4 yd line they're going to say it's right at the five a great punt by finder and the Special Teams unit was down there quickly 15 seconds left in the first quarter and so far the recap has been Lancers that's it Lancers they have been playing very effectively so far special teams has been playing well they've had good kick returns they obviously missed one field goal attempt got the other and now a very good punt the defense has been very effective obviously forcing a three and out and then one first down and then getting that three and out in the second series The offense two of three possessions they've been able to score on yeah Mal Marty has been in control and once again the Wildcats within the shadow of their own goal post first and 10 from their own 5 yd line and now two receivers to the left one out to the right it's a handoff up the middle bouncing to the outside and that is one of the backup running backs goes nowhere and is tackled right at the line of scrimmage and that was Tyler Dany the senior out of Alabama and it looks like the first quarter has come to an end yep we've got all zeros on the clock first quarter in the books a good start for the road team Mount Marty up 13 to nothing on Culver Stockton back with the second quarter in 1 minute on right here on kynt I didn't know you did that they hear that a lot at Hansen Briggs advertising at Hansen Briggs their slogan is for all your printing and promotional needs and I emphasize all because they Broadway or call us at 605 665 [Music] 3366 well the first quarter is in the books and mount Marty dominates that first quarter of play here in Canton Missouri it's Lancers 133 Culver Stockton nothing along with tell Tanner I'm Steve T great to have you here as the teams flip ends of the field and now the Wildcats will be moving left to right on your radio dial second and 10 coming up or actually second and nine from the 5 yd line Tyler Dany on that last play got one yard and that is all we thought we heard a fire alarm go off here in the building that's an interesting buzzer yeah that uh that is not the case everything is fine here second down pass coming up screen pass left side complete and a big catch and a run after catch down the sideline and being tackled in Lancer territory at the 33 yd line what a big play by the Wildcats believe that was ezard on the play that's how you start the second quarter throw a screen take it downfield you're already in LAN territory this time for the first time today across Midfield near the 30 got to cash in on this one down two possessions huge gain on the play Culver Stockton was at their own five now they're at the 33 of the lancers and I believe Mount Marty has called a timeout to reset their defense which had been playing so well but they just gave up a 62 yard play that went to Kyle Dixon he is a newcomer to this program a junior out of Carlinville Illinois we'll keep it here during this timeout which is brought to you by Pizza Ranch for legendary chicken and the best pizza it's Yankton Pizza Ranch they're on Broadway you can call them at 665 1222 and boy the wild cats they needed that play desperately desperately that's easily the biggest play of the game for the wild cats so far a huge passing play they were backed up at their own four yd line the quarterback was in the end zone as he threw that ball they got great blocking down downfield burst into the open it was the cornerback from the opposite side of the field who ended up having to track him down way downfield they're going to start this drive once again after that one inside the 35 in Lancer territory first and 10 Wildcats at the Lancer 33 yd line after the big play by Dixon and in a moment we'll get a run down on the first quarter stats after this next play shotgun that Dany standing next to his quarterback he'll take the hand off no he won't fake pass caught over the middle and it's going into the end zone touchdown what a fake and Dixon catches the 33 yd pass the quarterback day literally pulled it out of the belly of Dany the running back and spotted Dixon over the Middle with a precise pass touchdown Wildcats and just like that this is a brand new football game but hold the phone penalty Flags back at the line of scrimmage two flags down this will be a heartbreaker if it's on the home team they finally get some momentum and the penalty like that could be a drive Ender let's see un sportsmanlike conduct on the [Music] Lancers so I believe the touchdown will count and it will so that penalty waved off and just like that Drake day credit him with two great passes driving his team 95 yards and two plays and give Kyle Dixon credit too caught both those passes was just fast beautiful post route over the middle of the field great ball great catch great touchdown and the point after kick is good we got a brand new ball game folks 1417 left to go until halftime m 13 Wildcat 7 back with the kickoff in 30 seconds on [Music] kynt we'll keep it here as we'll recap that scoring drive three plays 96 yards one run a 62 yd pass a 33 yd pass and the Wildcats finally get off the schneid and boy the Wildcat fans have to be absolutely thrilled by those last couple of plays oh absolutely finally you get a little bit of momentum it was all Lancers to start off this ball game then all of a sudden in the second quarter brand new game the unsportsman like on the Lancers is about to come into effect here they're going to walk off the yardage and Lancers might be pinned back deep after this kick we'll see what happens that's one of those things that just puts a thorn in the side of any coaches on Sportsmen likee penalties especially on big plays like that but once again yeah for Culver Stockton that that was exactly what they needed to have happen it happened and we're back at 0 basically we've got a new ball game Lancers do lead this one they get their offense back but they did not get in the end zone last time the only drive this day that they were not able to get any points on the board we'll see how the Culver Stockton defense now comes out with momentum M Marty football brought to you in part by Concklin Distributing are you ready for a hydration Revolution try ghost hydration the ultimate drink to keep you feeling refreshed and revitalized it's packed with a unique blend of electrolytes and vitamins giving you the perfect balance to conquer your day check it out Conlin Distributing and here's the kickoff from Midfield high end overend kick it's going into the end zone that'll be an automatic Touchback so the Lancers will start at the 25 yd line first and 10 Mal Marty football brought to you today by Dakota ma whether you're a farmer Rancher investor or simply a Lancer fan look for Dakota ma for your EG financing needs visit Dakota .c to learn more well now is exactly what we were talking about to start this game the sun in the eyes of the Lancers as they move right to left on the field they're going into the sun now so we'll see if it's in the eyes of the quarterback if they try going down field it'll be hard to see his receivers down there yeah and it's the sun uh really coming straight into our broadcast Booth it's getting quite warm in here hard for us to see the players swing pass out to the right side it is caught and after a good block across the 30 yd line goes Kyle HS The Freshman running back out of gayville and a decent gain got about seven yards right now the Lancers need a good sustained drive that gets some points the home team's got the momentum time to take the momentum back if you're the Lancers riken dropping back throws the Home Run ball down the right sideline incomplete Too Tall intended for Broadneck well over over thrown and back there on the coverage was Robert Jones the sophomore out of St Louis they've been trying to get the Young quarterback in a rhythm here they've been throwing a lot of short passes a lot of screens to just get that arm moving both times the went downfield has been overthrown so far M Marty football brought to you in part by gersner oil no matter what you drive make sure you fill fuel up at triple time Rudy's on Broadway third 1342 left to go second quarter Lancers 13 Wildcats seven third down and about three handoff hearts up the middle stopped he's trying to push the pile forward cannot do so minimal gain it will bring up a punting situation or four or five Blue Hats right there at the line of scrimmage locking up the Lancer running back getting through their blocks pretty well shedding blocks and getting in great position good good defensive stand on third down for the home team boy the pep in the step as the Wildcat defense comes off the sideline is noticeable momentum clearly on the side of Culver Stockton now as they hold the Lancers three and out now they'll have to punt on fourth down and about three couple of men back deep as finder will punt it away Snap On Target not much pressure high kick and it'll be corraled near the 28 yd line fair Catch and that fair catch was made by Robert Jones 1250 left to go second quarter M Marty up 137 Lancer football brought to you in part by the Meat Lodge one top quality meat at great prices head to the Meat Lodge in Yankton they're on the way to the lake on Highway 52 first and 10 Wildcat ball put down at the 28 yd line they're operating left to right on your radio dial here in quarter number two along with tell Tanner Steve tomb here hot day in Canton Missouri the late afternoon start Cobb running to his left Stutter Step has a hole and he's chopped down across the 35 near the 37 yd line gain of about nine on the play good way to start the drive Wildcats boy they their offense is set definitely woken up after those two big pass plays on their last Drive shotgun set play action throw and it's caught Dixon at the 40 first down Wildcats something interesting to note here just brought in by our news director Josh Bolter in the Nebraska Corn Huskers game which is fun they've kind of got the game locked up a little bit of garbage time but Jaylen grad is taking s at position quarterback out of Northwestern from last year we were calling his game last year now now taking Snaps for the Huskers yep he decided to move on and here's a pass over the middle it is going to be caught short gain on the play that's to Thomas Shu the junior tight end out of California got about three and 1 half four yards on the Play Quick Pass there of course grad won a national championship oh yeah they were runner up last year the ni has got some quality fleets man and here's a pass over the middle Dixon catches it bounces off a tackler he's at the Lancer 40 yd line first down and I tell you what Culver Stockton may have something here in Kyle Dix in the 62 180 lb JR out of Carlinville Illinois and he is just carving up the Lancer secondary here in quarter number two no exactly you talk about the uh well you could say quality athletes and there's one of them right there shotgun set on First and 10 and it's going to be a handoff Cobb has a hole on the right side runs into a cuple of Lancers but he'll get six yards when all is said and done running to the right Kyle Dixon exited the game after that uh after that catch but we'll give you stats four receptions 114 yards one touchdown yep he is the dominant player here in quarter number two second down and four two receivers to the left one to the right handoff Cobb up the middle trying to find something minimal gain maybe a couple of yards on the play to Maran Cobb the senior out of race scene Wisconsin as you said all of it in quarter number two there for uh the wide receiver for Culver Stockton and Dixon as well in the last five minutes of game play he has over 100 yards in a touchdown and I believe the Wildcats only had about what eight yards of offense total in the first quarter they did not have much exactly seven plays eight yards but they have woken up and here's Cobb he's going to be stacked up in the back field running to his right and thrown for a loss that play took a little time to develop too much time and the Lancer defense Rises to the occasion now they didn't quite get off the field they're already in four down territory I I would expect even with the loss I'd expect them to go for it here yep 935 and counter quarter number two Lancers up by six points fourth down about five yards to go and they're going to go for it the Wildcats looking over the middle of the field day rolling out faking throwing no he's not he tucks it he runs he's tackled right at the line of scrimmage got hunted down from behind by Cameron Middleton Jacob Lambeth coming from the front right in his grill coming up the gut it was Cameron mid from behind dragging him down great play from a couple of seniors and the Lancer defense holds with 916 left quarter number two Lancers up 13-7 M Marty football brought to you by Forman Charters let Foreman Charters do the driving for your next trip see upcoming tours at foran bus.com big stand by the Lancer defense they have it at their own 36 yd line first and 10 they operate right to left on your radio dial riken in the shotgun set two receivers to the left one to the right play action has time loads up throws a home run ball broad KNX incomplete contact no flag at the 25 yd line let him a little long there again it was broadnax in single coverage he kind of saw his man down there one-on-one said I'm going to take a chance missed on that one as well second and 10 riken's been throwing a lot of short passes here missing on the Deep balls we'll see what they've got in the play Playbook to get him comfortable again M Marty football brought to you in part by Runza pick up the perfect burger at Runza bacon cheeseburger Swiss mushroom or Spicy Jack made fresh and top the way you like at Runza now in Yankton second down and 10 Hansen in motion from left to right two receivers to the left one to the right handoff hirs has a opening along the right side cuts back across the 45 he'll have a first down tackle near the 47 yd line first down Lancers they needed that run by Kyle Hirsch Lancers have been running the ball very effectively so far today when we talk about rushing yards they have six first downs running the ball they've got 127 yards total offense in terms of the rushing stats they've got 18 of those and 86 yards on the ground in the first half 86 yards running the ball in the first quarter and a half you'll take that any day of the week especially on a Saturday I like Saturdays Saturdays are made for playing college football and that's what we're doing here in Canton Missouri first and 10 Lancers from their own 46 hirs bottled up as he tries to run it he'll to the right side he'll lose about three yards on the play coming up on the 8 Minute Mark until halftime 13-7 Lancers on top of the Wildcats so this will be the second time today the Lancers have had a negative play on first down the last time we had we had this it was second and 12 or 13 I believe they just gave it to Malachi Harts ran off that left Edge got a big block from Patrick Perkins they got a first down we'll see if they do something similar here on second and long again their running game obviously as they have 87 yards in the first half has been very effective loss of four technically on that last play second and 14 two receivers out to the left one to the right riken dropping back throws got a safety valve man that's Fitzgerald makes a couple of man miss near the 50 to the 45 yd line a yard shy of the first down marker he needed 14 but he got 13 on that second down play Third and one coming up and there's the connection we've been waiting for didn't have to wait too long about a quarter and a half to see Yankton to Yankton that's riken to Fitzgerald two guys once again that split time playing quarterback in Fitzgerald's senior year and riken sophomore year Fitzgerald came to mount Marty his position was athlete he was actually taking Snaps at the quarterback position as freshman year in practice they decide to move him with wide receiver and they have enjoyed that decision for the entirety of his career he's going to be a big connection for the Young quarterback third down and one pistol formation here comes a Man in Motion handoff hearts up the middle he breaks loose at the 40 the 35 the 30 running to his right being dragged down across the 20 to the 19 make it the 18 yd line what a huge huge gain on that play of about 27 yards first down Lancers in the red zone at the 18 yd line because of how new the running back room is not only to the system but to Yankton itself with the graduations from last year they were a bit of a question mark coming into today not anymore I feel like this is going to be one of the strengths for the Lancers this season based on the last two quarters well hars and HS H andh doing the job feel like that's how you need to refer to him now on just H and H the two running backs well think of Manel and Maris the Eminem boys from the Yankees back in the day play action no it's going to be handoff Harts he'll try the right side he'll push the pile to the 15 yd line call it a gain of [Music] three second down seven coming up Mount Marty football brought to you in part by Pizza Ranch for legendary chicken and the best pizza it's Pizza Ranch they're Broadway and Yankton call him at 665 1222 525 in counting second quarter Lancers up 13-7 they're on the Move in the Red Zone second and seven they're at the 15 yd line of the Wildcats Hansen in motion from right to left shotgun set low snap fumbled ball and it's hars who pounces on it to save possession one yd loss on the play but that could have been disaster it was very close close to disaster it wasn't a great snap didn't get all the way to the quarterback reiken tried to recover and just bat it to the running back who wasn't able to grab it nobody was able to get a hold of it I think it was Harts himself who just jumped on it saved for third down but that was a difficult play negative play and now you got third down in the Red Zone this is the second Red Zone trip we've seen from the Lancers last time they were able to get first and goal they get a couple plays and ended up being a 5-yard rushing touchdown from Harts now they've got a HS in the back field Hirsch in there he'll split out as a receiver now on the right side empty backfield third and eight from the 17 yd line riken drops back throws high pass to the end zone got a man off the fingertips of Fitzgerald in the right corner incomplete he was open oh he was open should have been in his hands that was a good throw and a good read from the quarterback as well you saw cover two Zone you knew that back pylon was going to be open put it on a to where it should have been just in and out of the hands of the wide receiver and now a field goal attempt coming up the 416 left clock stops on the incompletion this will be a 33 33 yard attempt by jackf finder from the right hash mark maner the holder snap is good kick on the way it's a line drive it is no good missed it and the Wildcat defense holds with with 410 left to go until halftime two timeouts left for both squads yeah difficult end to that drive there a touchdown that should have been in the hands of the wide receiver it was just in and out of the hands of Trevor Fitzgerald a yankon kid who's been in the offense a long time just couldn't quite bring it in but loved the play call loved the read from the quarterback knew what he had put it on a spot just couldn't quite finish the drive ball will be put down at the 20 yd line after the Miss inside the Red Zone the opposing team gets the ball at the 20 first and 10 Wildcats they'll send two receivers to the right one to the left shotgun set here comes a Man in Motion but they'll blow the play dead whistles and flags are flying got a feeling this is against the offense illegal procedure against the Wildcats back them up five talk about thorn in the side of coaches how about a penalty and procedure on the first play of the drive yeah when the clock's not moving and he just came from the sideline that that uh that's why coaches have raspy voices and gray hairs and probably ulcers and we hope not but probably it's probably the reason why you never see a calm football coach nope here it is first and 15 two receivers to the right one to the left shotgun set it's a handoff up the middle running play nothing much there trying to bounce it to the outside it's the running back for the Wildcats and he is swarmed under no gain officially on the play that was Nick Jarrett the junior out of Tennessee he was stuffed at the line of scrimmage no game four sorry four different gold hats took him down first guy there was Gabe Baptista the senior out of Hawaii and Aloha to our friends listening out in Hawaii couple men go in motion over from the right side to the left side shotgun set second down and 15 Dave throws the long ball down the right sideline it is incomplete out of bounds was the receiver that was Dixon I believe and that's incomplete and Dixon's had single coverage going down the sideline Josiah gani was the man in coverage there he's a guy who's been here a long time a senior out of Montgomery Texas coverage was good but the throw was just out of bounds LED his receiver too far even if he caught it he would wouldn't have been in bounds clock stops with 323 third and 15 big opportunity here for the Lancer defense to hold two receivers to the left one to the right shotgun set here comes a delayed Blitz and the quarterback is hit and he's going to be pulled down at the 10 yd line Jacob lambath on the linebacker Blitz there's a reason why he's a Captain these teammates love him his coaches love him he's got a future career as a coach himself Jacob lambath with a sack Middleton looked like he was going to Blitz from the left side but he backed off in the coverage lambath was about three four yards down field he came charging in there was a gap between the center and the left guard he found the opening and he gets the sack on Drake day and now another punt deep from Wildcat territory Kennedy is going to be standing in his own end zone gani back at Midfield he you talk about the design of the play you got to love that John MTI played defense he was a defensive back then was a defensive coord coordinator now a defensive head coach High snap brought down nearly blocked High punt fair catch gani at the 46 yd line boy the Lancers almost got to that one as that snap kind of floated back to the punter in slow fashion but Kennedy did a good job kept it wits got it away the punter for Culver Stockton now Mount Marty in the driver's seat now remember Culver Stockton gets the ball to start the third quarter so a great opportunity here from the Lancers they're at the 46 yd line of the Wildcats first and 10 they have two timeouts in their back pocket reiken brings them out first down and 10 he'll send three receivers out to the right one running back that's Hart standing to his left he'll take the hand off run to his right and he'll get swallowed up right away he'll lose a yard great play by the Wildcat defense they had three blue jerseys right there at the point of attack clock keeps running coming up on the two-minute Mark here in quarter number two Lancers 13 Wildcat seven along with tell Tanner Steve Tom here as and now we have something new to college football the official two-minute timeout so we'll step away for 1 minute here Lancers up 13-7 back in 1 minute right here on kynt if it's time to review the look of the signage at your business let mayor signs help they offer all types of signs including lit non-lit digital and much more they also do Missouri 2 minutes left to go until halftime Lancers 13 Wildcats 7 second and 11 coming up for Mount Marty along with tell Tanner Steve tomb here Lancers have the ball second and 11 at the Wildcat 47 quarterback draw riken picks a way up the middle he'll get across the 45 to the 41 decent gain on the play but it still sets up third down about medium distance probably about 5 yds to go clock is running a minute 40 left both teams two timeouts left and yes new to college football this year the two-minute timeout I'm surprised Culver Stockton didn't use a timeout right there to save some time a third down stop here they could have got the ball back with about a minute 45 to go Hirsch lines up to the right of his quarterback riken in the shotgun now he'll go in motion straight drop back reiken being pressured rolls out throws got a man it's open Broadneck at the 35 he'll be pulled down near the 31 yd line that'll stop the clock as the chains have to move first down lancers and now it kind of flips the Lancers need to start planning on how they're going to use their timeouts cuz they need to get in the end zone here clock stop starts up now as the ball is set down reiken drops back wants to throw and now penal or we official stopping play illegal procedure is going to be the call against Mount Marty this play has been blown dead it just me or was that late whistle a little bit late it was like 3 seconds after the snap is when I noticed yeah so they will back up the Lancers five Lancers missed the field goal from 33 yds not that long ago we'll see what they do as the ball's put back to the 36 yd line first and 15 Mount Marty on top here in the waning moments of the second quarter a minute three on the clock Lancers up 137 again both teams two timeouts left in this half shotgun set two receivers to the right one to the left play action riken throws and it's going to be incomplete near the 21 yd line and Broadneck the intended receiver over on the right side and Broad AER is is a receiver that we're pretty excited about this year he's a guy who can do it all he has one catch for 10 yards and one rushing attempt for eight yards we haven't seen a whole lot of action from him him today but he he's going to be a guy who gets a lot of reps this season yep 63 203 lbs he's out of Cleveland Tennessee and he's young only a sophomore mhm got a lot of very bright future ahead for that young man third down or check that second down and 15 from the 36 yd line two receivers to the left one to the right play action riken drops back has time throws over the middle got a man Fitzgerald in double coverage in complete at the three yard Line pass maybe led a little too far led a little far there were defenders in the area we bring up third down the incompletion will stop the clock with 44 seconds however Carlos price on the coverage one of the Defenders there and a timeout has been called by the Wildcats with 44 seconds left this time out brought to you by Pizza Ranch for legendary chicken and the best pizza it's Yankton Pizza Ranch they're on Broadway call at 6651 1222 back in 30 seconds on kynt hello here's to welcoming moments big and small embracing the move you forward through sickness and health and every milestone in between AA moving Health forward learn more at aa.org forward just 44 seconds remain until halftime Lancers up 13-7 on the Wildcats of Culver Stockton along with ta Tanner Steve Tom here Wildcats just spent timeout number two after an incompletion a little bit of a strange call there but maybe they wanted to give their defense a rest an extra chance to catch their breath here yeah normally you want to save that time out for your offensive possession but it's possible they're just willing to go to the halftime locker room after this third down and 15 two receivers to the left one to the right reiken being pressured has an opening he'll run up the middle he's got a Blocker in front of him he's to the 20 and he's cut down at the 18 yd line that's enough for a first down the middle of the field was wide open officially they say his knee is down at the 19 but that's enough and now the Lancers I believe are going to call a timeout no the Wildcats Wildcat signaling a timeout with 32 seconds left after the Lancers got a scramble from rugby reiken that delivers them a first down I would have thought the uh the Lancers call time up but the official on the near side of the field was pointing towards the wild cats yeah it's the second timeout in a row that I'm not quite sure I agree with the strategy but at the same time these are Big Downs you know you're trying to stay up one possession down going into the halftime locker room you need your defense rested so I'm guess maybe that's the strategy but on on the other side you're giving the Lancers plenty of time to now plan with two timeouts in their pocket that they didn't have to use 30 seconds on the board and they're in the Red Zone this is this is now a very big opportunity for the Lancers this timeout brought to you by Pizza Ranch for legendary chicken and the best pizza it's Yankton Peach Pizza Ranch they're located on Broadway call them at 665 1222 teams breaking the huddles here as we'll come back to play and it's official on the scoreboard no timeouts left for Culver Stockton two timeouts left for Mount Marty which means they can use the middle of the field here with 32 seconds left this is a big big break from Mount Marty they're at the 19 yd line first and 10 riken at the helm has Fitzgerald Go In Motion from left to right one running back that's Hirsch standing to his right Blitz coming roll out by riken to the right throws to the end zone it's going to be intercepted picked off at the 2yd line that pass floated in the air intended for Fitzgerald and it's picked off by the Wildcats a heartbreak there for Mount Marty as they had a great drive going and they turn the ball over again again yeah great drive a great opportunity at the end of the half just floated a ball into double coverage it's a mistake a Young quarterback makes and one he'll learn from in film this week 26 seconds left now Culver Stockton they've got it at Their Own 2yd Line first and 10 they don't have any timeouts and I'm thinking if you're the Wildcats maybe just you know running play forward and uh go to the locker room they're going to hand it off to Cobb running play left he's tackled near the end zone is that a safety just got out I think they gave him forward progress to the one yd line but oh that was close and now I think a timeout is going to be called by Mount Marty oh I'd absolutely use one there if you've got them at the one yard line obviously you need some safeties back deep last time they were down here they nearly broke a screen for a touchdown but if you got a chance for a safety to end the half on a play exactly like that yeah I I'd take the I'd take the timeout too Cobb was running to his left that play took a long time to develop and the Lancers swarm there and they almost got a safety the running back was tackled In The End Zone but his forward progress was to the one yd line we'll keep it here during the break this timeout brought to you by Pizza Ranch remember they've got legendary chicken and the best pizza it's Yankton Pizza Ranch they're on Broadway call them at 665 12 22 and now if you're Culver Stockton you're too close to the goal line to take a knee so you got to do something to move the ball forward this is where your goal line offense comes out get your big boys up front I know you're at your own one but bring out the big boys and just run it up the middle now if you're Mount Marty do you bring out the goal line defense 100% 100% you do you get guys up front you crash the gaps and see if you could get two points on the board well looks like they got their standard defense out there and it's going to be a hand off Cobb up the middle has a hole he'll get across the five to the six yd line and I think the Wildcats will be more than happy just to go to the locker room Lancers do not appear to be calling timeout clock is winding down and we are at halftime here in Canton Missouri as the uh sounds like a fireing going that is an interesting uh buzzer for for a scoreboard 137 is the score Mount Marty on top of Culver Stockton we're going to take a time out and we'll come back with the halftime show it's brought to you by Parker Hanahan Parker of Yankton is excited to announce a generous wage increase for all production positions choose your specialty choose campaign and it's the Lancers up here 1 14-7 at halftime along with tell Tanner I'm Steve T great to have you along for the ride here on the final day of August the start of the college football season looking for an easy way to travel and uh it has been a hot day here so far but a good competitive football game between the lancers and the Wildcats and it really tell it's a tale of two quarters Mount Marty dominated that first quarter and Culver Stockton really dominated that second quarter of play yeah they did exactly that for the Lancers obviously they got out to that 13-0 start in the first quarter and then the first play of the second quarter screen pass backed up at their own four yd line for Culver Stockton they take it all the way downfield to about the 35 of the Lancers next play after that another big play to the once again to the wide receiver Junior Kyle Dixon out of Illinois takes it to the house after that it was a little back and forth both defenses played pretty well after that both offenses had a little bit of life on the offensive side neither team able to get anything going the Lancers heartbreaking interception in the half and the missed field goal and the field goal as twice Mount Marty got down inside the Red Zone here in the waning moments of quarter number two but they come away with no points and will that prove costly we will see as this game progresses 137 here at halftime let's check out the stats from this first and the game stats brought to you by the Meat Lodge you want top quality meat at great prices well head out to the Meat Lodge in Yankton they're on the way to the lake on Highway 52 tell what do you got for us well this is going to be a little skewed Culver Stockton's offense had 96 yards and once again on that kind of two-play drive there with the wide receiver um Dixon and then after that it hasn't been too much they have 138 total yards of offense that 96 yd Drive included so outside of that not not a whole lot going on with 22 offensive plays for the Lancers they've ran 38 offensive plays 207 total yards in terms of the rushing yards 20 rushing yards for Culver Stockton on 14 ground attempts 133 rushing yards for the Lancers on 25 rushing attempts in terms of the passing yards Culver Stockton has the edge there most of obviously on that 94 96 yd Drive 118 passing yards for Drake day for rugby rikens 74 passing yards one touchdown one interception for reiken one TouchDown for Drake day riken is six of 13 for 74s in the F 74 yards in the first half Drake day five of eight for 118 terms of first downs Lancers have 12 of them cver Stockton have has five and the third down efficiency the Lancers are six of nine on third down converting 66% of their third Downs 2/3 that's pretty good for Culver Stockton 0 of four rugby riken his first start well he had a touchdown pass on his very first pass but he's six of 13 overall 74 yards one touchdown one interception that's the stat individually that stands out here and what a debut for Malachi hars 12 carries 76 yards and a touchdown leading the way on the ground for Mount Marty what are some of the other top performers tell for Mount Marty another running back here Kyle Hirsch six rushing attempts for 23 three yards averaging nearly four yards a carry with a long of 10 couple of wide receivers with a couple of catches obviously most of them have been on screens here but Kyle Hirsch has two catches for 35 yards and a touchdown in there Trevor Fitzgerald has one catch for 13 yards that was the Lone downfield throw for the Lancers that was completed in the first half Rodney broad broadnax had 1 for 10 Nick Kei had two for 16 there were a couple sacks for the Lancers in this one it was Cameron Middleton who had one sack for a yard and Jacob lamb Beth had one for five as well tackles for lost Cameron Middleton has two of them uh Jacob lambath has two of them and David Wilson has one meanwhile for the Wildcats Drake day and his debut for the Wildcats five of eight passing 118 yards one touchdown but as we mentioned 95 of those yards came on backto back plays and really the Lancer defense has been playing pretty well they've also bottled up that running game for the Wildcats yeah they have the Wildcats just have not been able to run the ball effectively once again 20 total rushing yards in the first half of play on 14 rushing attempts that is just not going to do it Deary and Cobb Leading The Way with seven carries for 16 of those yards Nick Jarrett four carries for nine yards and of course Drake day those sacks go as loss as for rushing he has at minus 6 yards and meanwhile Kyle Dixon wow what a first half for him what a second quarter for him yeah didn't have a catch in the first half and then or in the first quarter second quarter four catches 114 yards and a touchdown all of those came in the first four and 1 half minutes of the quarter as well he's been quiet the rest of the game but that 4minute stretch four and a half minute stretch was something unbelievable that that was as he literally took over the game and the momentum swung in favor of the Wildcats who will get the football to start the third quarter of play we mentioned this here a couple of times and I just want to elaborate on this the mount Marty Lancers are going to be the Road Warriors to start the season three games on the road today we're in Culver Stockton next week it's in Mitchell a 6:00 game at Dakota Wesley and and then a 1:00 game at Northwestern their first home game is going to be on the 21st and that will be the homecoming game 4:00 kickoff against Waldorf now we've seen that before I think it was last last year Brier Cliff I think had like three or or four of their first five games on the road where the year before they've had four of their first five games at home so we get these quirks in the schedule the thing that at that on the positive side is that Mount Marty two of their last three games will be at home Midland at Hastings and that home against D that is the finale for the season so Marty so we the Road Warriors to start we get more home games on the flip side of the Season you kind of reminded me of Mr Krabs from SpongeBob Bob as you were talking there the Lancers are on the road today and the next day and the next day and the next day and the next day I love it this is the right back on the halftime show from Parker hannahan I'm tell Tanner here for KY NT kyn TV we go to our halftime interview now this week our own Jeff Erikson spoke with Dr Mark long the president of Mount Marty University this brought to you by Marlo Woodward Huff here's the conversation with the president of Mount Marty University let's welcome back all of the students at Mount Marty they're back on campus they're in classes can we talk enrollment and what's the vibe like this year no there's a huge buzz on campus so for the eth consecutive year we have more students this fall than we did last fall and I don't know of a university a private university in a community our size in America that has had that longevity of results it is truly amazing and just very grateful and blessed for that enrollment growth so I'm just we have 982 students I'm just going to say you know we have a th000 students we're up 31% over the last decade and you know we're we just continue to do well they're better prepared um you know last year our our entering high school GPA was roughly a 3.5 coming out of high school and this year it's a little bit lower about 3.45 still outstanding student these were this is above my high school GPA I i' have to add up multiple semesters to hit those numers so I I understand so I I and you know I just had a young man in my office yesterday who is a sophomore who's thinking about biomedical research and and PHD programs already and we're working with him and and some of our faculty on on learning experiences and research opportunities so it's just amazing to be around these young people and be able to walk with them on their journey I just love it so graduate nursing program at M Marty you've got some really good news there yeah so this year we have almost doubled our class of incoming nurse practitioner students we're we're up to a total of 93 students enrolled so these are people who already have their Bachelor of Science in nursing they've been out practicing in nursing they're coming back and becoming nurse practitioners in our program it's either family nurse practitioner or psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner huge growth in that area already we have a pretty sizable program in nurse anesthesia in sou Falls and that is the first deegree program for nurse anesthesia in America it's 51 years old and so just very proud of it and I just crunched some numbers yesterday and it looks like Mount Marty university has the largest graduate nursing program in South Dakota public or private and so um that obviously is great for the University but it's even better for those of us who live in South Dakota and particularly in rural areas because so many of our of our graduates practice in rural areas so the impact we're having on the health and wellbeing of people in the state and in this region is extraordinary and we're grateful for that too I've said this to you before but it's worth repeating you're like a proud popup H aren't you yeah just you know this is I just started my 10th year here it keeps getting better years growth you've been there for 10 I can do the math on that well you know as I said to somebody the other day correlation doesn't mean causation right I've been around but there are a lot of people who are doing a lot of good work and I give all the credit to the Holy Spirit I mean there's a reason Mount Marty University is there there's a reason we're doing what we're doing and and so as we had a we have a campus chaplain when I first got here father Thomas wer who's a m graduate who always told our students I'm praying for you but you have to cooperate so Jeff we're doing our best to cooperate let me wrap it up with this I saw some pictures of students involved in community service around town tons of projects I appreciate the people of M Marty but one thing I appreciate the most and it ties in with the benedic and way immersing them into the community and giving them that experience that maybe they might say why do we need to do this but later on it goes okay yeah that makes sense it does you know our benedic and tradition those ERS on the hill live together in communities to seek God together and so we really talk to our students about the obligation they have throughout their lives to make their Community stronger starting with this one and so the tens of thousands of hours we do in community service in the Anton Community each year is really started off with our mission day where we come together we have mass we had 500 people in Bishop Marty Memorial Chapel uh we actually had overflow this year into the Chapter Room of the monastery so we come together we pray then we eat lunch together and then we go out and serve the Yankton community and we had hundreds of students faculty and staff working a lot of projects in this community and it's just um it's who we are it's what we're about and our students uh appreciate that and enjoy it and love working together to serve our community and there was plenty more with Dr Mark long the president of Mount Marty University if you want to listen to the full interview with his sit down with Jeff Ericson just go to KY nt1 1450.com click on the totally yanked and Morning Show and you'll find all the interviews there we're at halftime of Mount Marty University football as a proud Community Bank we are back in Canton Missouri home of the wild cats of Culver Stockton halftime and it is Mount Marty on top of the wild cats 13-7 along with tell Tanner I'm Steve T this is the Parker Hanahan halftime show now let's check the scoreboard that's brought to you by gers Royal no matter what you drive make sure you fill up at triple time Rudy's there on Broadway in Yankton tell what do we got on the scoreboard yeah we started off with some of the bigger games uh from today obious ly Alabama and the new South Dakota coach 70 over WKU kind of a warm-up game to start the year that one just underway but certainly it's going to be interesting with kayin dbor at the helm of Alabama if he's anything short of a deep playoff Contender fans are going to Riot but at the same time if anybody can do it it's him and I really hate that he's going to make me root for Alabama football this year cuz he's South Dakota guy but anyways they're up 7-0 in the start of their game uh Miami beat Florida today in the Rivalry 41-17 Ohio State big win over a akan uh 52-6 South Dakota State a lot of fans were watching the South Dakota State Oklahoma State game Oklahoma State wins 44-2 Iowa big over Illinois 40 to zero tough start for the offense but a beautiful second half and fourth quarter they were able to really get it rolling Georgia destroyed Clemson today that's number one over 14 34-3 I knew they I figured they'd win that game I didn't figure it'd be that bad another big game uh Penn State over West Virginia 34-12 take a look at the valley there's a couple of other teams that played today North Dakota lost to Iowa State 21-3 uh once again Illinois State lost to Iowa from the valley South Dakota State fell University of South Dakota did win their game to start the year against a D2 opponent they will take on Wisconsin next week Northern Iowa is currently winning 35 over Val pariso and then tonight Missouri State Montana play at 8:00 in the valley B parizo Val parizo I didn't even know that hey I got some updates here from the gpack final score Gracin non-conference play over D 49- 11 near the end of the first quarter Benedictine of Kansas leading at Morningside 21-3 no score end of the first quarter Peru State at Hastings and in the first quarter no score Brier Cliff at St Ambrose and I believe that are all that's all for the gek schools oh I take that back Waldorf at Concordia that kicks off at 7:00 tonight so morning side trailing at home 21-3 to Benedictine a strong team out of Kansas that has has gone deep in the National Tournament on many occasions that would be an upset if Morningside would lose at home they are trailing 213 near the end of the first quarter any other updates that you got a big one in the area the Nebraska Corn Huskers did get their win today as expected over UTEP 40-7 Dylan ryol in his first game 19 of 27 238 yards two touchdowns good start for the true freshman quarterback and obviously Jaylen gramstad got to get in the game as well late in that one so that was nice for him lifelong dream suiting up for the Huskers he wanted to transfer specifically for a moment like that he was able to get it so that's nice yep and of course Nebraska we'll see what they do here with the uh with the new head coach so we've got 15 minutes just been put on the clock we're ready to go with the third quarter of play our halftime report today has been brought to you by Parker hanifen so it will be the wild cats to start the third quarter with the football as Jack finder has it teed up at the 35 yd line dropping back deep as some of the Shadows now starting to creep across the field here this is a north south field and there's a big hill on the far side on the west side of the field there's a couple of fraternity houses there and they are casting Shadows across the field at the moment as the sun's starting to go down it's still well above the Horizon 632 central time here as finder puts the toe to the football and it is going to be collected and fumbled and Out of Bounds at the 20 yard line by one of the return men for the Wildcats another mishandle on the kickoff by Culver Stockton yeah they're only lucky that it was not that deep 21 yd line is where they'll start the drive so even with the little bit of the fumble out of bounds they'll be okay decent field position only four yards behind where they would have been with a Touchback well let's see what the Lancer defense does here first and 10 Wildcats from their own 20yd line they will operate right to left on your radio tile two receivers to the left one to the right play action day throws the long ball and it's almost intercepted at the 40 yd line incomplete over the head of the receivers and through the hands of James brinsley the senior out of Texas second year he's starting as a defensive back the free safety had it perfectly in his hands just somehow could not bring that one in and you couldn't blame it on the sun because the sun yeah he's facing the other way second and 10 and the wild cats again avoid disaster deep in their own territory remember they had that punt that was might have been blocked but they had a penalty that happened in the first quarter play action roll back or drop back and a sack a sack of the quarterback back at the 13 yd line there were like three white jerseys there on the scene and the first man there once again the captain Jacob lambath that man has been everywhere today 1430 just underway third quarter that's how much time is left and it's going to be third and long coming up third and 16 for the wild cats day at quarterback puts a man in motion and now I think we got a penalty I think this is procedure and it is they're going to back him up more it's tough to bounce back after hard sacks like that to force third and long it screws up everything in the offense you got to kind of get a new play in the play caller all of a sudden instead of going for third and manageable has to flip to the back of the Playbook to go oh third and long what are we doing here takes a little bit of time to get the play in and then everything is just screwed up after that procedure penalty and now it's third and a mile third and 21 balls back at the 10 yd line you got to figure the the Lancers have their ears pinned back shotgun set day dropping back he's being pressured he rolls out to his right being pursued he's going to have to run bottled up along the sideline pushed out of bounds near the 20 yd line a gain of 10 but well shy of the first down marker and knocked out of bounds by Devon Williams out of Chicago Illinois that's a junior 62 225lb outside linebacker second in the depth chart coming into today a good play on third down to force the three and out to start the second half Kennedy will punt it away he's standing inside his T at about his own 6yd line Josiah gani standing at his own 37 yd line again no wind today quite warm not a cloud in the sky haven't seen one the entire time we've been here in Canton beautiful weather and that kick just got away a good punt fair catch called for at the 43 yd line by gani and once again in the Lancers were a Heartbeat Away from blocking that punt by third time today I believe they were that close it has been close close close they're due at this point second half of football today brought to you by cour Trust Bank raise your expectations with cour trust member FDIC all right here we go Young quarterback marches out remind you of his first half stats six of 13 74 yards one touchdown one interception right at the end of that first half rugby riken out commanding the offense since three receivers to the right now one of them goes in motions that's Nick Heath L out as a wing back on the left side pistol formation handoff Harts the Stutter Step he has a hole on the right side he's near Midfield he'll be tackled near the 49 yd line good gain on the play got about six yards once again Malachi Hart starts the second half the same way he started the first half running hard he's averaging over six yards a carry yep just shy of the Midfield stripe second down and four Lancers operating left to right on your radio dial Heath goes in motion from right to left two receivers to the left one to the right play action Heath catches the swing pass gets a block across Midfield to the 40 yd line that's where he's tackled that's a first down for Mount Marty and we've got a player down at Midfield for Mount Marty it's one of the linemen but he's getting back up that's Whittingham slow to get up but he'll stay in the game first down Mount Marty 1227 in counting third quarter first possession of the second half for Mount Marty here comes a Man in Motion Heath pistol formation two receivers to the right handoff hars up the middle has another hole spins through traffic and gets across the 35 no they're going to say his knees down at the 35 yd line gain of five hearts still averaging over 6 yds a carry he's approaching 90 yards I think that'll put him around 88 or 89 on that run he's got a long of 27 and a touchdown in the books yeah 88 officially 12 yds away from the century mark second down and about five now two receivers out on the right side one to the left Blitz being shown and a penalty flag this play is dead and got to figure this is going to be procedure and it is against the Lancers that's something that has happened a lot in this game and it's first game Jitters it happens a bit but that'll be the fifth penalty on the Lancers in this ball game M Marty football brought to you today in part by Parker hannahan Parker of Yankton is excited to announce generous wage increases for all production positions choose your specialty choose your shift and enjoy amazing benefits from day one and new increased wages learn more at parker.com it is going to be second and 10 pistol formation with two receivers out to the right one to the left play action pass Heath drops it incomplete little Swing Out Pass looks like he turned his head before he secured the football yeah you got to watch it into the hands sometimes you just got to go back to the fundamentals watch the ball all the way into the hands and then turn up field Mar Marty football today brought to you in part by AA moving Health forward a Vera third down a big one for both teams you're kind of in that area where you couldt you could go for it depending on the yardage you get here Lancers need to get five or six here if they want to go for it on Fourth I would agree with that empty back field three receivers to the right two to the left shotgun set quarterback draw and there's a hole to the 30 and Diving ahead to the first down marker he got it at the 28 yd line what a run on the quarterback draw by rugby reiken that's what I've been waiting to see more of riken's a guy throughout his entire High School career was a quarterback that could run the ball very effectively he knew when to take hits knew when to get out of bounds and he always knew where his open running lanes were finds the first down yardage knows where the marker is Dives ahead has the first down in the books i' like to see that 1040 in counting third quarter Lancers up over the Wildcats 13-7 and they're on the move are the Lancers pistal formation first and 10 the Wildcat 28 Here Comes Hansen in motion from right to left he'll spin back back around Blitz coming and there's a handoff and that's her she dodged a man in the back field plows ahead into the line and gets to the 24 yd line gain of four that could have been bad but a good job by H to get away from the Blitzer the official having to talk to the Clover Stockton guys a little bit there it got a little Chippy at the end of that play well you know these teams played last year and you know a lot of personal fouls there were there were unsportsmanlike conducts and personal fouls and these these teams this is only the second time they've ever met but boy feels like a conference game it feels like a rival game second down straight drop back for rikens swing out past Broadneck he's at the 25 cut down near the 21 yd line shy of the first down marker he was the safety valve on that play and now a big third down coming up HS out hearts in at running back for the Lancers Mal Marty football today brought to you in part by sherko when you need to be sure make it sherco well you're certainly in the in the yardage where you could go for it on fourth down if you don't get it here I would not be surprised if they just run it twice with hirs or either any of their running backs we'll see what they do well they're going to split HS out as a running back now they'll move him in the back field seven on the play clock pistol for form reiken takes the snap hands off HS has an opening he's up the middle into the secondary into the end zone touchdown Mount Marty what a run up the middle by Malachi Harts Harts is just been everywhere today that will put him over the century mark a 100 yard rusher in his first game of the season multiple touchdowns on the board that guy is the early candidate for player of the game there's no doubt about it 21 yards on that rushing TouchDown for Harts his second TD of the game now looks like the Lancers are going to go for two they're up 19-7 so they're going to go for two on this particular point after try Hart stays out there he'll move to the right of his quarterback shotgun set two receivers check that three out to the left one to the right straight drop back roll out reiken looking looking throws got a man caught to two-point conversion good Fitzgerald with the catch that makes it 217 Lancers on top 850 left to go third quarter and we will keep it here we've got good news Steve instead of going a break after the touchdown more than just the touchdown for the Lancers obviously the great connection obviously in the two-point conversion there for a couple of Yankton guys but more Yankton news miles krasy we got to talk about a par Olympian who just punched his way into the gold medal game for the Paro Olympics which is super super cool was able to get the win over India JC Simon miles KY going to the gold medal game and the sport is for those of you yes some people may not be aware super cool uh got a chance to play for it and then I believe his singles matchup is tomorrow I think he's in the quarterfinals there it's going to be interesting what he's able to do but yeah going to the for mixed doubles and pair of bad mitt going to the gold medal game go for the gold young man go for the gold we're cheering for you a whole not just the Yankton South the you whole nation's behind you pal ABS go for it here's the kickoff and it's going to drift back to the end zone and it's going to be taken out of the End Zone by The Return Man for Culver Stockton and on that return was I believe Tyler or Ty Ty Mariel the defensive back so Culver Stockton they're down by two touchdowns here in the third quarter it's 844 left to go and they have the ball first and 10 after the short return out to the 15 yd line first and 10 they have a full housee backfield now they'll shift around shotgun set running back that's Jarrett standing to the left of his quarterback he'll run to the left and he's pulled down after a short gain of about a couple of yards James brinsley the free safety making the tackle there m Marti football brought to you in part by Dakota Beverage whether it's Coors Light or Miller Light please drink responsibly second down we'll call it seven gain of three on that last play shotgun set again the running back to the right of his quarterback couple men in motion one receiver shifts out to the right a tight end to the left side straight drop back pass caught going to be a first down and that is going to be ezard along the sideline Bobby ezard the junior out of Georgia quick Swing Out path to the left side he got a good gain across the 40 to the 42 yd line that's gain at 24 yards was dancing with Amir Conley the senior senior cornerback out on that edge got a great open space run there quickly to the line of scrimmage straight drop back Swing Out Pass intercepted intercepted it went off the hands of the running back and right into the hands of one of the Defenders for Mount Marty that was Mohamad he gets the easy interception and the pick six for Mount Marty and boy has this game just turned around on a dime 277 your score all of a sudden a pick six will just destroy any momentum good thoughts in the in the home crowd all of it just died you could hear the cheers after that 20 plus yard catch and run everybody was having fun everybody was having a good time it's quiet it's quiet now here Steve yeah and we uh the home fans are right below us here below our broadcast location here in Canton Missouri as Mohammad gets the interception and the touchdown that's the problem with little Swing Out passes if something goes Ary there's nobody between the defender and the end zone especially out on the edge it was read perfectly by the junior out of suell su falls Roosevelt in Mohamad great play great addition to the starting lineup this season first game in this as a starter pick six and like I said the the Shadows starting to creep across the field and maybe the Shadows across the hearts of a lot of wildcats fans as their team now down 27-7 with 728 left to go and now we have the point after pending and finder comes out and Jace maner will be the holder he has missed one extra point earlier today and missed the field goal good opportunity here to boost his confidence if he can make this extra point snaps on target kick is on the way it is good 287 Lancers on top 728 to go third quarter back in 30 seconds with the kickoff on kynt James and I are having a beef about which Runza Burger is best it's the Savory Swiss mushroom hands down no it's the double cheeseburger two burgers better than one cuz math The Spicy Jack Burger is also good true wait why are we fighting I forget come get your favorite Runza Burger today because Runza makes it all better want the the best fast food burger around try Runza on Broadway by Bernards in Yankton officially 38 yds on the interception return by asaram Mohamad and the pick six gives the Lancers a big lead at 287 728 left to go here in the third quarter along with tell Tanner Steve Tom there was a penalty on the Lancers so that's going to back him up um on the play excessive there yeah excessive celebration so the kickoff from the 20 and that kickoff is going to bounce around and it is going to be picked up by Jones The Return Man and he's out near the 40 yd line so Culver Stockton will have good field position M Marty football today brought to you in part by Aztec build your career with a group that's built to connect from Rock to Road and mount Marty in the driver's seat in this contest but the way that Culver Stockton exploded early in that second quarter you can't count this team out they've got some big play guys like Dixon yeah know the big play has certainly kind of been there bread and butter it's the only two big plays they've had but those two plays kind of were the entirety of the offense we talked about it at halftime they had that one 96 yard drive on two big plays and they had 138 yards total at the half outside of those two plays it's really been not a whole lot for this offense 20 rushing yards at the half they got to be able to find a way to run the ball but now you're down 21 points Midway through the third quarter I don't want to say abandon the run but you're going to have to throw in order to beat the Lancers at this point and that'll be up to the secondary of the Lancers to hold tight and that pass rush and we have I believe an official timeout here uh with 722 left to go here in the third quarter of play teams are on their respective Sidelines yeah there's something going on we got an injury we do have an injury on the field it happened right in front of the Wildcat bench near the 40 yd line as the trainers are tending to oh one of the official an official got hurt wow I thought it was one of the players but I believe it's the is that the line judge that's John Clayton the line judge as he is slow to get up he's on his feet talking with the talking with coaching staff now of Co Stockton on the near sideline but you know we saw that last year with the I believe umpire get hurt and it's very you know I haven't seen it too many times you know throughout the course of my broadcast career um I really haven't seen that M many officials hurt during the course of play but in the last couple of years it's happened it's quite unusual I don't think I've seen one on a kick return either yeah that's just a strange strange play but the uh that's John Clayton the line judge who is shaking up on the play he is actually going to the tent so now the officials will have to kind of reconfigure how they Deploy on each play they're going to be a man down so I believe the back judge is coming up to play line judge and that's Brad Hinson so now we and they're also backing up Culver stock on penalty there was a penalty on the play a that went on on that play yeah an unusual set of circumstances here Lancers up 287 over Culver Stockton 7 22 left here we in the third quarter of play according to our camera guy next to me Braden Butler as we were focused on the play says it was unsportsmanlike was the penalty so un sportsmanlike against Culver Stockton as day wants to throw the long ball down the side line and it's going to be caught by Dixon he's going down the sideline and it's a touchdown just like that wow what a strike by Culver Stockton as they go to Kyle Dixon right away and that is a 75 yd touchdown pass did I not just say this team from Culver Stockton can strike in a hurry they've got the big play in them that's the third time they've been able to strike downfield on a massive gain in yardage and the second time for a touchdown and it's all been the same guy Kyle Dixon he may be the uh well he's certainly in the running for player of the week for Culver Stockton and maybe for their conference the heart of America conference he's now at 189 yards in the game five receptions two touchdowns and the point after kick is good hold the phones folks this one's not over not by a long shot 713 left to go third quarter Lancers 28 Wildcats 14 back with the kickoff in 30 seconds on KY NT Wellness should feel good and taste good that's why Alani new offers a range of delicious energy Mason Shram with the move group and make the move with [Music] [Applause] [Music] Mason well that didn't take long for the wild cats one place 75 yards day to Dixon and it's 2814 Lancers on top here's the kickoff heading for the sidelines rolls out of Bounds at the 15 yd line that's Ethan Banger or bonger and both kickers have had problems kicking the ball out of bounds on kickoffs today so big plays for the respective teams that we're back to a 14-point edge in favor of Mount Marty long way to go in this one folks 7113 left to go we're in the third quarter and reiken will bring out the troops as the Shadows creep across the field here in Canton Missouri home of Culver Stockton first and 10 ball at the 35 yd line shotgun set broad knacks in motion they're going to hand it to him on the Jet Sweep he's to the 40 and down near the 44 yd line good gain on the play of about nine brox we saw last year play some in the uh the training game that scrimmage up in Madison against Dakota State and he was very impressive and had a few opportunities last year this young man if he continues to develop could be a star player in the Mak for Mount Marty second down and one here comes Hansen in motion hand off hsch up the middle has a hole has the first down he's to the 49 yd line and they're going to try to push the pile forward forward progress stopped gain of five first down Lancers been running the ball very very effectively today already got one guy over a 100 yards H is north of 30 and is as the second option very very good day for the running back crew it'll bring up first down and 10 they're just shy of the Midfield stripe shotgun set empty back field now here comes Hirsch behind the quarterback pistol formation and it's going to be reiken keeping it looking to throw throws behind and it's caught by her or by Heath somehow he reached back and caught the football across the four 30 to the 35 how did he catch that one of the best plays I've seen from the quarterback today as well reiken read the read option perfectly realized he needed to keep that one pulled it out of the gut of his running back rolled to his left had to throw across his body as he was moving left saw the defender crashing down on him found the open man first down Lancers great play from the quarterback there yep he if he had handed the ball off that was going to be a big loss on the play oh yeah ball at the 36 yd line of the Wildcats first and 10 pistol formation and here's the handoff to Sloan and he lost the football balls loose on the ground and the Wildcats have it at the 32 yd line as male Sloan coughs up the football Lancers right now are just letting the other team get back into this game had a 28-7 Advantage you have broken coverage a Long play touchdown now you cough up the football in a fumble second turnover still got a two touchdown lead but that one hurts you've missed a field goal you threw an interception in the Red Zone in a lot of ways the Lancers have been Their Own Worst Enemy today this could be like a 40 to 10 or a 40 to 14 game easily with the Lancers out in front but they have misfired in several key moments you know things like that happen in the first game of the season luckily the Lancers still have that two touchdown lead plenty of time to get things back under control we're still mid way through the third two backs in the back field now they'll shift around tight end on the left side two receivers to the right hand off Cobb trying up the middle he's met by a host of Defenders at the 30 yd line call it a gain of [Music] three but if you're the mount Marty defense it's fine Dixon here's a clue he's wearing number 13 out there don't let him get past you find 13 and put a hat on him double team that guy you've been able to cover everybody else effectively that's the only guy that's been able to get his G get on him second down and seven Dixon's trotting out to the right by himself two receivers for the left now a couple of Men In Motion a receiver joins him out on the right side shotgun set with run running back quick pass it is going to be caught out on the left side it'll be a first down across the 42 yd line catch made by ezard the junior Bobby desert almost a face maskk there but it was a good stiff arm a good stiff arm got an extra yard or two got the first down play approaching Midfield is the home team and quickly the Wildcats come to the line of scrimmage and it's going to be a running play Cobb tries to bounce it to the left and he's pulled down by Middleton the Wildcats want the horse collar and the late flag comes in and Middleton can't believe it well that one came in from the official that was a little ways away the official that was playing uh kind of substituting for the injured line judge was right there didn't throw the flag because he grabbed him down by the waist by the Jersey to pull him down I'm not sure they're discussing right now we'll see what this ends up being ball the ball didn't have him around the neck I can tell you that let's see the official are they going to walk it on well looks like they are looks like they're horse collar tackle be at the 48 yd line it's a 15 yd walkoff yep and here it goes tough break for Mount Marty was the white hat official who threw the flag and he's got final say yep good news John Clayton the headline or the line judge back out on the field he just stepped back out on the field came out of the tent good so the official crew back at full strength somebody play a return of the Mac as Clayton was Shak up on a kickoff return earlier but that puts the ball at the 37 yd line of Mount Marty first down and 10 and all of a sudden the Wildcats on the Move now they're down by two scores well momentum clearly on their side they'll split one receiver out to the right one out to the left officials have to just finalizing a couple of things coach m letting not happy on the far side I doubt he liked the penalty call Cameron Middleton as soon as the flag was thrown he couldn't believe it you could tell from the body language he didn't like it clock sto with 347 left in the third quarter Lancers up by two touchdowns but the Wildcats on the Move in Lancer territory at the 37 shotgun set Cobb stands to the left of his quarterback straight drop back throw over the middle towards the end zone it's over the head of ezard at the 5 yd line incomplete had a he had a step on his man he had a step if that's in the Bread Basket that's another touchdown we could have a onecore game on our hands instead second and 10 for the home team they're still in four down territory at the moment 336 on the clock in the third quarter they get a score here we're down to seven points is the advantage M Marty football brought to you in part by slowy management called a fair field by Marriott or holiday and Express in Yankton direct for great rates and flexible reservation changes second down and 10 shotgun set hand off Cobb thrown down for a loss in the back field back at the 41 yard line he went nowhere was David Wilson who crashed in there able to make the play David Wilson the junior out of Chicago he made a big big play did Wilson the junior now a big third down and long straight drop back day throwing to the end zone got a man open and it is incomplete he was wide open on the sideline guess who Dixon but it went out of his hands and he may have drifted Out of Bounds at the 10 yd line that was disaster avoided for Mount Marty and now fourth down coming up and well you might as well go for it if you're Culver stocked and with 304 left here in the third quarter it's third and long but you're kind of in no man's land the 41 yd line or do you trust your defense and punt it away and try to trap the Lancers deep 3 two one on the play clock they may take the uh delay of game and it looks like they will just give the punter some extra room here delay of game against the wild cats that'll back him up five Joe Kennedy will come out to punt try to get the old coffin corner here and you know in a situation like this I know the Lancers have one Return Man maybe you go for two Return Man deep and try to cover you know both ends of the field I don't know Kennedy stands at his own 45 yard line Snap On Target a little bit of pressure it's heading over gan's head bounces into the End Zone it landed at the five took a Lancer bounce and mount Marty will have it at the 20 yd line as the defense comes up big and stops the momentum that I tell you what if the Culver Stockton scored has scored even a field goal on that drive that would have been bad news for Mount Marty Mount Marty's defense held when it needed to they bended they didn't break that's a good thing 2814 the score will stand Lancers still have that two possession Advantage now the offense is back out there if they're able to get down the field get back to that comfortable three touchdown lead they can Coast for the rest of this one with a very good rushing attack a good sustained Drive the results in points would be optimal for Marty they've got it the 20 first and 10 shotgun set Fitzgerald moves over to the left side in motion now the empty Back Field quick Swing Out Pass here comes the defense HS bottled up draw for a two-y loss that one didn't fool anybody they've been running those wide receiver screens all game long Culver Stockton has kind of been biting on them every time there they play it very well you kind of Wonder Maybe you try that again but send Fitzgerald oh yeah or Hansen down the field or maybe Broadneck and try to beat him with the little pump fake one thing I'll tell you they're sa they have two deep safeties right now who are more than 20 yards down field a little injury or a equipment repaired there clock stops with 248 left and now looks like we're walking the other way was there a penalty not going to lie with the sun in my eyes I didn't even see the yellow flag yeah we are looking right into the sun here if you're following Along on our camera sorry for that as well we didn't have another place to put it so we were kind of stuck with what we had and unfortunately that sun is right in the lens so thanks for bearing with us here on KY andtv well I believe the announcer just said personal foul against Culver Stockton 15yd penalty balls at the 35 first and 10 handoff Harts tries up the middle plows ahead gets three yards and that's all again we're looking right into the Sun as it starts to go down and now whistle stops play again and we have an injured player it is a Mount Marty player one of the offensive linemen slow to get up but he does get up that's Whittingham he's a junior West Palm Beach Florida but he's he's got to come out I believe for one play and they'll bring in the big backup right tackle 67 343 senor Jonas kelp out of Hamburg Germany he started a lot of games for the Lancers in his career that's an experienced man out there playing a backup role today yep so it'll be second down and seven 220 left to go third quarter Mount Marty 28 Culver Stockton 14 along with tell Tanner Steve T here Canton Missouri start of the season the fourth season for Lancer football two receivers still to the left one to the right shotgun set handoff hars tries the right side has a hole he's to Midfield and Beyond move the chains first down Mount Marty and guess what they went behind that new right tackle Jonas kelp he's a big dude pushing down in a run block he's very very effective once again he's 67 343 that is a a lot of beef on that offensive line when you go 343 301 272 285 and 344 this is at the niia level people these guys are big the Lancers have a real good chance of running the ball this year first and 10 from the 48 yd line of the Wildcats Harts will try the left side he's got some blocks but he's tripped up at the line of scrimmage Falls forward for a one yd gain good tackle there from tahim Merill backup Corner he's a freshman out there making plays second down coming up Lancers taking their time under a minute to go here in this third quarter of play both teams have scored one touchdown on big plays a pick six for the Lancers a 75 yd pass for the for the Wildcats second and nine two receivers to the right one to the left pistol formation Quick Pass caught Heath he's tripped up Falls forward to the 42 yd Line open he comes up limping but he's going to try to run it off here course we haven't you know in a hot day like this you think about leg cramps haven't had any of those so far that have impacted the game oh now that I said that oh no I jinxed it we're going to have so many in the next quarter we hope not clock's winding down Lancers won't run another play we're done with three Lancers 28 Wildcats 14 back with the final stanza Steve Tom here in Canton Missouri getting ready for the final quarter between the lancers and the Wildcats Mount Marty on top 28-4 mount Marty with the football they are in Wildcat territory at the 42 yd line third down and four big play here for both teams Lancers want to keep this drive going wild cats down by two scores they need a stop [Applause] defensively officials have yet to put the ball down all right here we go they'll start up the play play clock shotgun set one running back now no running backs in the back field pump fake throw caught at the 20yd line to the 15 to the 10 to the five touchdown touchdown Mount Marty that was Hansen well you called it Steve they did the fake wide receiver screen sent someone downfield pump baked by the quarterback Chuck it downfield but do we have a penalty flag yeah we do there's one sitting at the 10 yd line right around the nine on the far s side line could it be a block an illegal block Lancers are Marching backwards oh this could be heartbreak illegal Block in the back against Mount Marty take the touchdown off the board second Block in the back of the day that is a costly one yeah we talked about the penalties they were starting to rack up on the Lancers I think that'll be the seventh or eighth today over 65 yards of penalty yardage lost well you take the touchdown off the board the good news is that it is a first down for M Marty will'll be at the 19 yd line first down and 10 they are in the Red Zone but they've been here before and have come away empty a few times but they're up by two scores they need a minimum of three on this possession Fitzgerald comes in motion from left to right pistol formation Harts up the middle runs in the traffic got a yard and that's [Applause] all and again whistles after the play certainly not been the cleanest football game by either side a lot of penalties you see that a lot of time in the first first game of the year this one's been a little more than we normally see well no penalty on this play but it might have been a little extra pushing in shoving it'll be second down and nine just underway fourth quarter of play 2814 Lancers with the lead he's tell Tanner I'm Steve tomb great to have you here Austin vegan into the game now splits out to the left side empty backfield riken dropping back looking over the middle rolls throws out caught Vance at the 11 yd line had to go down to his knees he's automatically down two yd shy of the first down marker yeah had a bit little bit of Running Room there would have got to first and goal if the throw was just a little bit up either way get some yardage out of it third and short yep they'll say his knee was down at the 12 third down and three 1340 and Counting crucial play here on third down empty back back field two receivers to the left three out to the right riken will he do a quarterback draw he will he's running he puts his head down leans forward he's got it a gain of four first down Mal Marty Steve the play caller you've had a couple of them so far you had the fake screen go downfield you get that one there in the draw you know this offense it's almost like you've watched it for a few years ah it may have picked up a thing or two first and goal now for Mount Marty they're at the 8 yd line 13 minutes left to go in regulation Lancers up 2814 and now they can afford to take their time in the Huddle and get organized before they call a play no need to be in a hurry here if you're Mount Marty riken directing traffic hands off to hars he's to the 5 yd line puts his head down and gets to the four they say his knee is down at the four on that first down run gain of four second and goal coming up from the four Mal Marty football today brought to you by C trust helping you achieve your personal and business goals it's CorTrust Bank raise your expectations with CorTrust member FDIC hars in the back field pistol formation with three receivers out to the right they'll play fake it oh pass well over the head of Hansen on the slant pattern in the end zone incomplete he was open but the pass way too high yeah just completely missed him but still got a chance here on third down you can't go and back have backto back Red Zone possessions where you just come up short obviously last time they were down in this exact spot of the field and a third down or actually it was uh either way beginning of the drive as they were trying to get down here interception was thrown in the back pylon right corner of the end zone hoping for a different result this time our Lancer fans all right hsch into the Game Stands to the right of his quarterback and the shotgun set three receivers to the right straight drop back reiken being pressured rolls to his right throws on the Run got a man caught touchdown H in the back of the end zone that is what you want to see from The Young quarterback rugby reiken saw the blitz coming scrambles out of the pocket moves to his right finds the open man at the end of the play touchdown Lancers good patience and hirs just found a spot stood there with his hands up and didn't move at all as the ball was coming to him in the air that's all you got to do sometimes found the open spot waited for the ball riken found him and a big touchdown makes it 34-4 a three-score game here in the early part of the fourth quarter with the Lancers on top trying to tack on the point after maner the holder finder we'll put the boot to it and it is good 1155 left to go in the game Lancers 35 Wildcats 14 back with the kickoff in 30 seconds on kynt it's day one Drive 11 plays 80 yards it results in a riken to reers touchdown of four yards 3514 Mal Marty on top of Culver Stockton along with t Tanner Steve Tom here in Canton Missouri at Ellison poulton Stadium Field Turf surface very nice facility here they have been wonderful hosts here at Culver stockum and we thank them for their Hospitality their entire sports information Department oh that's a thank the sun it's finally setting so we'll not have to deal with that glare as much when we get back to this other side of the field yes and we can actually finally see now a short kickoff and it is going to be returned by one of the upmen who circles around and uh didn't get much out to the 25 yd line on that special team's return was Adam or Aiden Jones was Devin Mays for the Lancers who made the tackle at the end there yeah we facing we're facing west here at this stadium so as the sun's going down here um it was looking right in our eyes it was tough to see the field see who's out there but now the sun behind the trees and the houses on the far side of the field lights are on here in Canton Missouri as the Lancers have the lead at 3514 Wildcats with the football shotgun set day is going to throw the Home Run ball intended for isard and it's almost intercepted at the 40 yd line gani back there defensively for Mount Marty should have had it in and out of the hands second down coming up Mount Marty football today brought to you in part by Aztec build your career with the group that's built to connect from Rock to Road I've never understood that to be honest having your uh Press Box and your home fan and your home team look into the sun in these facing west I've always figured put them on the other side and then the home team gets to be the sun behind you and the opposing fans the opposing team looks into the Sun or even uh the Lancers Stadium back in Yankton is built that way we look into the Sun every game yeah there we're facing the South yeah except for night games pass caught for night games ezard along the left sideline across the 30 on the Quick Pass gets to the 33 yd line we will have a night game on a Friday night coming up this year that'll be on October the 11th Dort the opponent 7:00 that'll be the lone U night game at home there's the late afternoon game Waldorf at 4:00 on Homecoming on September 21st play action high pass down the sideline Dixon and he drops the football incomplete he shoved off on a receiver or on the defensive back did uh Kyle Dixon no call had it dropped it at the 35 yd line incomplete oh he didn't drop that one give all the credit to Josiah gitani who ripped it out at the end had it in it had it in the arms gani had an arm in there and ripped that thing out way to way to make a play young man that was amazing tell you what Dixon's going to cause problems for the opponents of the Wildcats all year long this guy has been really really impressive the wide receiver for Culver Stockton his stats 189 yards on five catches two touchdowns today but it's fourth down and three coming up for the Wildcats they're going to go for it from their own 33 yd line they're down by three scores they pretty much have to straight drop back here comes the pressure pass is going to be tipped away and almost intercepted incomplete at the 40 yd line ezard the intended receiver day was hit as he threw the football was a little off Target the Lancer defense holds yeah Bobby ezard still had a play on that one the red shirt Jr had it in the hands I think it ended up bouncing off of his face mask actually ended up being incomplete tough chance there and with 11 did not go their way yeah 11:04 left to go Lancers up 3514 they are in the driver's seat no doubt about it and now they have the football at the Wildcat 33 yd line first and 10 they're looking to put this one away can they do so one would to suspect they're going to go to the running game Harts in the back field takes the hand off tries the right side follows his blocks gets across the 30 fighting for yardage and somebody loses his helmet out of bounds penalty Flags fly and one of the leaders over there for the Lancers gotten the face of one of the offensive lineman who throwing a block and prevented him from retaliating and that's a good play oh yeah cuz we're going to have this one on the defense for sure late hit out of bounds 100% Harts had it out vanilla that was that was Wilson I think who stood in front of the lineman yeah somebody got their helmet ripped off on the far sideline so let's see what the official word from uh the referee is on the far sideline on sportsmanlike conduct on the defense that should be be tacked on and a first down so that should be an extra 15 yards after the play ball was spotted at the 26 yeah cver Stockton's backing up here and that'll be to the 13 yd line so essentially half the distance to the goal yeah big big mistake there late in the game you're trying to make a comeback game might already be out of hand that might have sealed it cuz you're in the red zone and well within field goal range now finder has struggled a couple of times today missed the P missed a field goal from 33 but for Mal Marty it's you want to get points on the board you want to take as much time doing it preferably first down and 10 from the 13 yd line on the right hash mark pistol formation with two receivers to the left one out to the right reiken calling for it hands it off hars up the middle follows his blockers gains two and that's all Mal Marty football day today brought to you in part by Dakota ma we can help you do the heavy lifting when it comes to a financing whether you're a farmer investor or beginning farmer we work hard to find Lending Solutions to fit your needs learn more at dakota.com here's some good news Lon Whittingham the right tackled Junior who was shaken up earlier just came back into the game Jonas kelp trots off the field Whittingham seems okay second down well they're going to say the knee of the running back hit down back at the original line of scrimmage so no gain on the play second and 10 reiken on the quarterback keeper up the middle Dives across the 10 to the N yd line gain of about five he's been doing a pretty good job avoiding contact today the only times I've seen him take a hit are when it's third down and he's just has to get to the Sticks no matter what outside of that he's been diving forward avoiding hits that's something you don't see from a Young quarterback very often young quarterbacks want to take hits they want to do they want to make plays and I like that he's being smart about it protecting his body third down and six we'll call it a gain of four in that last play two receivers to the left one to the right Fitzgerald moves it's a tight end now on the right side hars is going to get the hand off tries the right side turns the corner to the five to the three to the pylon is he in no they're going to say I think he stepped out at the three no they stepped out at the one so he's a yard shy he got eight yards on the play but that's enough for a first down he was definitely able to knock that pylon over ball hit the pylon but he must have stepped out of bounds just before it one yard to go well looks like we're going to have the brotherly shove here as riken is pushed into the End Zone on the quarterback keeper touchdown Mount Marty as the Lancers line up with that Philadelphia Eagles play the brotherly shove oh it's been so effective at all levels you know what Jason Kelce retired you know from the Eagles and he said you know what about that play he says I don't have to do it anymore it's so tough on my body oh yeah that's full Go 100% effort into those for the center well it's a touchdown on the Oney run by reiken makes it 4114 and now finders going to try the p credit the Lancers they have withstood a couple of bursts here and somebody jumps offside and that is going to blow the play dead somebody on the special team's unit for Culver Stockton believe that was Robert Jones and they'll try it again move it a little bit closer get an extra yard closer yep sure well at this point of the game what you're thinking about is well let's just you know whether you're bead or behind just let's let's have clean execution yeah 100% binder lines it up again High snap brought down kick on the way it is here is the kick off it's sailing down inside the five and it's going to be picked up by Jones running across the field and he'll be cut down at the 11 yd line that is Aiden Jones with the return was good special teams play by the Lancers I've lik what we've seen from the special teams had a missed field goal had a missed extra point but outside of that the kick return coverage and the kick off coverage have both been very very good today 844 left l answers in control 4214 along with tell Tanner I'm Steve Tom great to have you along for the ride opening weekend of college football shotgun set two receivers to the left one out to the right straight drop back day looking over the middle fires its sidearm caught tackled right away was the backup tight end Ellen sunquist the Junior out of Seattle Washington he'll get enough for a first down out to the 24 yard line gain of about 11 on that last play and in hurry up mode are the Wildcats they're throwing the Home Run ball to eer and it is incomplete he was fighting and here comes the penalty flag in with gani but you know what Gan didn't turn around and look back and that's going to draw the pass interference [Music] he had good position but you got to look back got to get your head around the veteran receivers know that or defensive backs know that you got to turn your hips got to get your head around in that last second try and make a play on the ball it's going to hit your body either way just got to get your head around to avoid the pass interference 15yd penalty automatic first down puts the ball out at the Wildcats 39 yd line for first down 10 Wildcats three receivers to the left one out to the right fourman Rush another long pass it sails over the head of everybody at the 30 yd line intended for sunquist gani on the coverage incomplete gani was actually the closest man to that it was well over everyone's head 809 on the clock here the one good thing the Lancers can say and the offensive side of the ball they've been running the ball very effectively as soon as they can back get it back in their hands they can chew clock First Things First Defense has got to get off the field straight drop back day being pressured now he is going to be tackled as he scrambles twoy gain and that is all Devon Williams with the tackle once again the junior out of Chicago and quickly the Wildcats come to the Run line of scrimmage on third down and nine see if the Lancers Blitz man coming in motion is Jones Aiden Jones lines up on the right side straight drop back day throws safety valve caught by a running back that is Cobb he's tackled after a three yd gain well shy of the first down marker brings up fourth down for Cobb he had six catches last year in a backup running back roll and now fourth down and five coming up day lines them up sends a receiver that's Aiden Jones out to the left side one receiver out to the right fourman Rush day dropping back being pressured has to scramble Cuts reverses field Dives forward he didn't make it he's a yard and a half shy tackled at the 47 he needed to get to the 49 and the Wildcat should turn it over on Downs the Lancer defense has been just a force today there have been exactly three plays where they've gotten beat and outside of those three plays 42 to Z this score would be three plays Culver Stockton has had very big plays downfield for big scores and big yardage outside of those three plays been slim pickings yep Lancer defense with un besides those few cracks of played played really really well and now they get the ball back as the Wildcats turn it over on down 652 left to go in this one fourth quarter lancer's up 4214 and they will bring out the offense HS at running back pistol formation vegans in motion lines up at the wing back on the left side handoff H tries the right side stiff arm across the 45 tackled near the 42 yd line Lancer football brought to you in part today by Parker Hanah fin Parker of Yankton is excited are going to take their time they are in no hurry they want to milk that play clock second down and five ball at the 42 yd line of the Wildcats Hansen in motion from left to right hand off HS he's going to be tackled in the back field as he tries the right side he'll lose about four yards on the play good play by Culver Stockton had all options covered no matter what the quarterback and running back did there there was going to be a blue jersey in their face under six minutes to go want to remind you to stick around for the postgame show we'll recap the stats get an interview with Coach MTI we'll check out scores from around major college football and from around the gpack only one conference game today but several teams in non-conference action today and looks like the Lancers are going to call a timeout as they let the play clock wind down to nothing they stopped the clock at 519 left to go in this fourth quarter of play this timeout brought to you by Pizza Ranch for legendary of play M Marty 42 Culver Stockton 14 along with tell Tanner I'm Steve Tom great to have you here we are in Canton Missouri today at Ellison pton Stadium lights are on as the sun has set still some light in the sky and a good night for football especially if you're a Lancer fan play action reiken looking for the Deep ball throws to his safety valve it's caught by Hansen he'll have a first down at the 36 yd line what a play by Hansen as he caught it and got out of bounds and got that first down good from the quarterback too got through his reads found the open man delivers the ball good protection from the offensive line Hansen found a crease in the defense reyen delivers the ball all around good play from the offense Ismail Sloan checks into the game remember his last carry he fumbled the football chance for that young man to get a little Redemption here build up his confidence he's the third string running back no doubt he'll see some carries here Here Comes The Blitz handoff up the middle is M has two hands on the ball he gets across the 35 to the 32 gain of four young man for uh M Marty Ismail Sloan out of bennettville South Carolina he is a junior and no doubt he'll get some more action here in the waning moments of this game second and Six coming up two receivers out to the right one to the left pistol formation Blitz coming slow trying to read the gaps he'll get a yard and that's all forward progress just shy of the 30 and referees having to separate some guys again yeah it's getting chippy out there as you said this almost feels like conference play or a rivalry game these two teams a lot of penalties today A lot of times referees have had to separate them you don't see that quite often in a nonconference first game of the year normally guys that they don't know each other very well they're more chippy than this chipper third down and about four riken look into the sideline vegans he'll move over as a wing back now on the left side two receivers to the left one to the right pistol formation play action pass vegan at the 30 to the 25 to the 20 tackled at the 18 and that's a nice little play that's worked several times today for the Lancers they'll get a first down as we're under 3 minutes to go yeah it's a great play from viggy he's a senior wide receiver he's been here a long time a very good blocking wide receiver you'll see him securing The Edge a lot of the time when you watch these games every now and then he'll find him he'll find an open space in the flat and he's pretty good he's got pretty good hands he'll take it for a while guy was originally going to be uh tight end they had him in a role under Rex reiken and then Rex reiken obviously using his 12th year of Eligibility this year so they they keep him as a wide receiver first and 10 from the 19 yard line Sloan with the hand off plows over a man and he will get to the 15 looks like they say his knee is going to be down at the 16 but that was a strong run yeah running hard there gain of three second down and four earlier today Gracin beat D that was the only afternoon game 4911 and now we reach the 2-minute timeout here in the the fourth quarter 4214 Steve T he's tell Tanner second and seven coming up from the Lancers looks like they're going to go into the victory oh they're going to go into the brotherly shove and riken just going forward and plowing ahead inside the 15 to the 12 I thought they maybe just go for a knee but maybe they're just looking for one more first down well they got to get it with two minutes to go on second down they do need one more first down to end the game they get 40 seconds off the clock here another 40 then they'd have to do something on fourth down but if they get the first game is 100% over for Culver Stockton a team that struggled on off offense last year they had a few Shining Moments in this game but absolutely couldn't put together Su a lot of sustained momentum they had chances we'll talk about that more in the postgame show third and three seven on the play clock reiken hands off to Sloan he'll dive ahead and he's just shy nope they say he got it I from where the referee was standing on the far side I thought he was shy but he's going to move the chains to the 9 yd line is where Sloan goes and that's enough for a first down and one would have to think now it's time for victory formation yeah t y and they're lining up in Victory formation are the Lancers slown about 15 yards behind everybody with 50 seconds left to go riken he'll still take it out of the shotgun normally the quarterback goes right under Center and he'll just take KN and he won't have to do it anymore because we're under 30 seconds to go and the teams are moving to the center of the field to line up and that is going to put a ribbon on this one folks 42 14 Lancers with a win the game closer than the final score but a big solid win for Mount Marty as they pull away in the second half as they begin the before we get to talking to football T we've got some other things to talk about yeah we got to talk about paralympians right now man miles crasy a yanked and Native just punched his ticket to the gold medal game for mixed doubles alongside JC seinan representing the USA and since we have another guy in the booth who I want to get make him earn his paycheck here kidding he's earned it 10 times over but here we go Braden Butler tell me about kind of what's going on uh with Miles KY Jason Simon at the par Olympics well miles is a guy that I I got to know a little bit interviewed him a couple times when he was uh starting to make that push for the Olympics with the world championships and such like that high school yeah when he was still in high school now he's a freshman at USD and as a former Yol myself got to be happy about that but same uh he is competing in uh per perab badminton mixed doubles for short stature and uh and all that but him and his partner JC Simon have been working together for a long time rising up the ranks and now they're in the gold medal match after a comeback Victory they dropped the first set of their uh mixed doubles uh competition I believe and then came back and won the final two so that was a very big for him and JC and I know he's built some momentum in singles play as well he has a quarterfinals match in singles play tomorrow morning about 5:20 in the morning um according to his Facebook page His official Facebook page it'll be on peacock so hey there you go take a look for that if you're up that early in the morning I'll try try to get up in the morning for him I'll tell you that but uh we might have a late night here but I digress and oh man I'm sharing a hotel room with you we could watch it together that'll be great he is coming off of a victory as well over the 2020 gold medalist from India in singles play so that is the match before his quarterfinals so Miles kky having a great uh showing out at the par Olympics gold medal possibility tomorrow uh I I believe for mix doubles with his partner JC Simon and then in the men's singles quarterfinals tomorrow as well or early in the morning about 5:20 a.m. Central Time so so good luck to him we're all rooting for him whether it's Yankton South dakotans or just as Americans anytime any sort of Olympics or par Olympics is on we're rooting for the good old USFA so good luck to miles crasy in that and hopefully he can bring back a gold medal maybe two to Yankton uh when he's all said and done over in Paris good luck miles we're certainly rooting for you bring home a gold medal Go Team USA you know we had a pretty good haul at the Olympics uh here in Late July early August and let's hope our par Olympians bring home of gold as well this is the Mount Marty Lancers postgame show here and um 4214 the final score in this particular contest it started off 13 nothing Lancers got out to a big lead but then a couple of big plays back-to-back plays to Kyle Dixon got him down the field in a hurry made it 137 that's where we stood at the uh end of the uh second quarter then Malachi Harts scored on a 21 yard run two-point conversion was good that made it 217 and then um after the after the ensuing kickoff Culver Stockton looked like they were going to drive but uh ammer asaran mohamd scored on a 38 yd pick six looked like the Lancers were going to run away with this one 287 but after the ensuing kickoff that man again Kyle Dixon caught a 75 yd pass on the first play from scrimmage after the kickoff all of a sudden it was 2814 and that's how the game went into the fourth quarter then Kyle Hurst scored on a four-yard pass from rugby reiken made it 35-4 and then late in the game rugby riken on a one-yard touchdown run made it 42-4 and that is the final score and now we're going to get some words here from John MTI the head coach our postgame coach interview brought to you by Conlin Distributing are you ready for a hydration Revolution try ghost hydration the ultimate drink to keep you feeling refreshed and revitalized it's packed with the unique blend of electrolytes and vitamins and it gives you the perfect balance to conquer your day check it out from Conlin Distributing coach congratulations on the win here today I had had a chance to talk to you before the game but boy this game had a lot of es and flows and momentum swinging back and forth how did you view that from the sideline where where you got out to the to a big lead but all of a sudden then they pop off a couple big plays y that's uh obviously first game uh stuff that goes on there uh you got to understand that there's going to be highs and lows especially in the first couple games of the year so uh that's one thing we talked about all week is being able to not getting too high not you know getting down on ourselves and be able to handle adversity you know I think our offense did a great job coming up and establish the Run game exactly what we wanted to do um and being able to have multiple backs be able to run that helps a lot and a running quarterback too so that that looked pretty nice but then our defense was doing good except for those big plays you know that's the one thing that we're going to be talking about minus the celebration penalty which will be addressed on Monday morning I I had a feeling that would be addressed at some point during the week and early in the week at that but uh I tell you what that that first drive where you guys were running the football and then that that pass play little screen play worked so well to hirs and uh it seemed like the blocking out on the perimeter uh on some of the screen passes really was effective today yeah and you know not having uh Rex strien today uh you know that was one thing that we were hey how we going to be able to block on the edge because he is if not the best one of the best uh blockers especially on the edge there uh but Fitzgerald Trey um Rodney you know all those guys did an excellent job you know stepping up Nick Heath Austin V Vance all those guys stepped up and we wanted to physically win the game today and that's that happens you got to win your blocks one-on-one blocks so very proud of those guys now you had the line of winning he's new on the offensive line couple times he got up a little slow and you're kind of wondering oh a hot day like this big 300 lb guy out there but he kept coming back time again I thought that offensive line up and down the line I thought they played really really well today I agree you know what uh line now has been a big part you know and you look on the other side you got big p a little less big p I should say uh you know he looks a lot better you know that offensive line you could tell they've been working together for some years now and uh you know they're putting it all together operating on all cylinders game one which you like to see Malachi Harts tell us about this young man yeah he's special huh he had a dynamite day we'll go over that when we cover stats but I tell you what his ability to stop start find a hole and get his shift his momentum and then accelerate quickly that's pretty darn special yeah it's uh it's elite I'm glad that we're not playing him anymore that's why I told him like I'm glad I'm ready for somebody else to try to tackle yeah it's a headache every day when we try to you know slow him down and things like that but uh very talented back as you can all see he's he's strong uh got great vision he's explosive uh you know exactly what you want and he's humble as it as it as they come so um you know he's he's awesome um great job of of complimenting with Kyle hirs and then ishma Sloan coming in there a little bit too so no Malachi Harts though yeah he's a he's a special back and as I was talking to tell earlier this week for the pregame you know we got five backs that can squat over 500 lb and you you see a little bit of that today that's fighting for those extra yards even rugby shoot he might be a 500lb squatter after today let's talk about rugby you know he had a lot of screen passes today a lot of short passes but you know then he started throwing down the ball the ball down the field he missed a few where the guy was open but then later in the game he seemed to be F in the range on those longer passes yeah you expect a little bit of nerves you know he's a Ultra competitor and all that stuff so you know he's going to handle that and just come out of it and we just got to continuously show our trust and faith in him and uh that showed you know especially in the second half got real comfortable you I playing his game you know came up there after one of those runs in the first half there with a bloody nose and I'm like you ready he's like oh yeah I'm ready now so love I love it um no very excited with his performance today and you got to pick six today yeah tell us about this young man yeah as Moran Muhammad um you know he transferred from um Mary but we recruited him out of high school out of sou Falls Roosevelt uh excellent kid you know he's a a kid he's growing up y uh but he's everything you want another humble guy that's just going to work wants to be uh the best he can for the team you know whatever it is if it's you know painting the porch is it taking the water out taking the garbage out or is it taking a pick six to the crib he'll do whatever he can to help the team out uh the one issue I have is just the guy's getting too excited about that which I always tell the guys I want them to be happy for Success just not cosing penalties so we got we'll make sure we clean that up yep now what else did you see defensively that really stood out in your mind as far as players having a good game I know Jacob lambath had a a dynamite game today he is an Elite player uh you know just the the mind he has of the game and and can be able to communicate to everybody get everybody on the same page he is our quarterback back there um excellent you know he was calling out the plays pre hey watch counter here hey this is going to be inside Zone just based off uh what he saw a year ago which is is tough you know a lot could change over a summer so uh but keeps ease you know constant reminders of the guys where the guys aren't panicked you know especially in a game like today where everybody's emotions are really high because they're excited to you know play some football but he brings the ease to the defense and hey guys we're fine on to the next one you know and hey whether it is if it's a pick you know hey we're excited let's go out there so uh great leader and exactly what you want uh as a coach to be able to have out there on the field and shoot a couple sacks and things like that excellent game for him too coach hold on hold on here we go all right coach congrats on the win sorry I'm late to this conversation here dealing with something on the back end I don't know if you've talked about this yet but if you have we're going to talk about it again cuz it's special third down percentage today 15 of 18 for your squad 83% their side 0 of eight they did not get a first down on third down the money down today was your bread and butter can you walk me through what was going on there yeah it's one of the things we talk about we have a thing called the plan and that's one of them you know like hey we got to win on third down um obviously helps when you're in short down situations uh to be able to help convert those as an offense and defensively the exact opposite putting him in the third and Longs a little comfortable making them onedimensional um you know and our guys really got to take advantage of that uh you know putting some pressure I was like to see in a couple sacks and uh you know forcing some fourth downs and even a way to get a turnover that way it looked like there was some extra pushing and shoving out there at times and we noticed that last year and this year it's like you know the it almost seemed like this was a rivalry game between you guys I mean there was uh it seemed like a little uh extracurricular activity out there but I tell you what these the both these teams are fired up to play today I mean how did how did you see that from the sidelines yeah obviously the guys put a lot into a game it takes a lot to win a football game it's very hard and uh leading up you know fall camp summer spring ball end of last year there's a lot that leads up into this game so uh the emotions fly high you know I was I don't nothing bad uh about Coach Sally's team I think he does a great job and he's done a great job of uh turning the program around there for Culver um you know and the guys just are a little disappointed you know and that's one of the things that we want to make sure that we clean that up and it's never one of those things like I got to tell somebody how good I am you want them to tell you how good you are yeah so all right speaking of rivalry games next week at Dakota wesleyian they broke our hearts last year uh in Yankton now you got to go up to Joe quindel field play him it's a night game 6 o'l what have you seen uh as far as the scouting report on Dakota Wesley and so far yeah they got some new faces as well uh with a lot of those transfers uh or not a lot of those sorry seniors uh graduating um but they had a transfer quarterback come in that's a pretty talented uh athlete uh I went to Utah all right out of high school so you know you got to be pretty good to be able to get recruited there um but then he end up playing at Augustana for a while at receiver uh so you know he can obviously run he was their leading rusher uh I believe looking at the stats uh from from game one against Dakota State um you know there have a little bit of a different defensive look um with Coach simple not there uh in that role anymore um I know they brought in um coach Bessler from D that runs a 3-3 stack so uh that part is similar to uh what we saw today on cver you know exact same shell and all that stuff so that that's nice for us to be able to uh go against a team that's exactly like that that we saw this week so but no we expected in a game that is a rivalry game a game that we're now a traveling trophy there's going to be some emotions there's going to be some extra you know trick plays things like that we're going to have to make sure that we clean up some of the stuff obviously what I talk to the team afterwards is you know obviously we got to cut the turnovers out the big plays on defense and then a few of those uh botched plays on special teams with the uh kicking the upright and Kicking It Out of Bounds can't happen so yep so anyway coach thanks for your time today uh you guys uh are got a long road trip back of course you're going to be staying overnight in the hotel and then taking off tomorrow morning so what's what's the road trip been like what's that what's that been like for the team as far as traveling yeah that uh I tell I want to thank uh Butch Hansen you know because uh we stopped at Gilbert Iowa where the home of Trey Hansen and they had it all set up they they we got steak afterwards it was unbelievable uh unbelievable setup so our guys definitely ate like kings so definitely nice uh we will actually we're going to try to drive back through the night tonight so oh you are driving back tonight except for those guys that got the penalty they're walking back I'm just kidding about that I don't want to any phone calls all right coach thanks for your time we'll talk to you next week I appreciate you guys you bet thank you that's coach michetti from uh the mount Marty Lancers 4214 the victory from Mount Marty tonight we're going to take a two-minute timeout we will come back we'll have the stats run down we'll check scores from around major college football we'll also have our player of the game move of the game as well we've got a lot more to talk about stick with us here back in two minutes right here on kynt actually we're going to keep it here while we uh have some technical difficulties we're figuring out but we're up on our stream we're up on YouTube if you're following along so we can just finish things up why don't we do that as as we're here so hey we're having a little we're having a couple difficulties here uh connecting with the studio back in Yankton but we're still up streaming on YouTube thankfully y'all can still hear us and watch us over here in Missouri we were pretty happy that none of this happened during the game happened post game so I'm happy for that why don't we do the stat rundown hey the stats tonight brought to you by the Meat Lodge want top quality meat at great prices head over to the Meat Lodge in Yankton it's on the way to the lake on Highway 52 tell give us the stat run down yeah looking at first downs obviously Lancers outpaced the Wildcats 28-1 10 of those passing 16 rushing for Culver Stockton all or or eight of their first downs were due to passing three of them due to penalty they did not have a rushing first down today third down efficiency we talked a little bit about it with Coach meletti 83% for the Lancers 15 of 18 cver Stockton 0 of eight 0% third down 0% fourth down as well they were 0 of three terms of total plays the Lancers ran 76 offensive plays for 436 total yards of offense they averaged 5.7 yards a play for Culver Stockton 44 plays 287 total yards in terms of the passing stats we'll go through the quarterbacks for a moment rugby riken ended up 15 of 24 172 yards with two touchdowns to one in interception on the other end it was Drake day 11 of 22 252 yards two touchdowns one interception as well Steve can you take me through some of the rushing stats here I sure can Malachi hars 24 carries 151 yards two rushing touchdowns on the day average 6.3 yards rugby riken had 10 carries for 41 yards Kyle H nine carries for 28 yards Ismael Sloan six carries 22 yards Rodney brox Two Carries for 17 yards and that is the rushing stats for the Lancers meanwhile the running game was held in check by the Lancer defense for the Wildcats the Maran Cobb just 24 yards on nine carries 2.4 average Nick Jarrett had five carries for just 12 yards and Drake day the quarterback scrambled six times for just two yards total Tyler Dany played last year quite a bit for him limited role today one car for just one yard in the receiving department it was Nick Heath Leading The Way with five catches for 47 yards Trey Hansen a couple of catches for 43 yards Kyle hch three catches 39 yards two touchdowns Austin vegan had a couple of catches for 17 yards Trevor fitzg believe it or not one catch for 13 yards and then Rodney brnx two catches 13 yards meanwhile Kyle Dixon five catches 100 89 yards for Culver Stockton he was their offense today he really was two touchdowns he averaged only 37.8 yards per catch Bobby ezard had three catches for 44 yards that was pretty much it one catch eats for sunquist Cobb and Shu for the Wildcats of Culver Stockton that's how the offensive stats rank up individually while we got a moment why don't we check out some scores from around college football the scoreboard today brought to you by gersner oil no matter what you drive make sure you fuel up at triple time Rudy's they're on Broadway in Yankton let's go first to the gpack earlier today it was Gracin beating D quite handily 49-1 games in progress 6 minutes left to go in the third quarter Benedictine of Kansas leading at morning side 35-30 it is Hastings uh Midway through the third quarter ahead of Peru State 14-6 late in the third quarter St Ambrose leading Brier Cliff 1413 and a game that is underway now they're nearing halftime Concordia all over Waldorf 38 to nothing those are the gpack schools in action today let's move on to major college football some game games in progress everyone's watching this game or a lot of people are interested in this game Texas A&M hosting Notre Dame tied up at 6 halfway through quarter number two at halftime Michigan leads Fresno State 10-3 games in progress Oregon ahead of Idaho at halftime 14 to nothing Kansas State ahead of University of Tennessee Martin 20 to six that game in the third quarter now Old Miss at halftime ahead of Ferman 50 52 to nothing and Alabama ahead of Western Kentucky at the half 42 nothing from top 25 college football these are final scores Penn State over West Virginia 3412 Oklahoma State beats South Dakota state today 4420 Ohio State Rolls by akan 52-6 Texas shuts out Colorado State 52 to nothing Miami over Florida 4117 Georgia hammers Clemson 34-3 Tennessee blows out Chattanooga 69 to3 and Iowa with a big second half beats Illinois State 40 to nothing checking scores from around the Big 10 and it's hard to say this UCLA is in the Big 10 but they Trail at Hawaii seven to nothing near halftime yes UCLA is in the Big 10 boy I never thought I'd live to see the day but W welcome in UCLA I I step away from one moment Steve and I come back to you ranting about UCLA again in the Big 10 and I'm you know what I'm here for it what is going on what is going on we I missed the Pack 12 I missed I missed the pack 10 and yeah technically it's the pack two yeah it's still there hey we got scores from the Big 12 BYU at home ahead of Southern Illinois there it's a 14 to nothing game that's late in the second quarter Texas Tech at halftime ahead of abalene Christian 3221 UNLV ahead of Houston 17 to nothing that is in the third quarter Baylor ahead of tlon State uh 353 and Kansas State ahead oh we made UT Martin 20 to6 so that scores that we have from around the regional quote unquote Regional conferences I guess you could say because there every conference is now a Coast to Coast Conference oh college football has changed folks it has changed mightily yes it has it's going to be an interesting year I'm definitely looking forward to some of the games that are coming up in the future one next week that I'm certainly looking forward to Texas and Michigan going to be playing Saturday at 11:00 a.m. that's going to be a lot of fun that's number four versus number nine couple other games next week and obviously our game Mount Marty rivalry Dakota railroad rivalry versus Dakota Wesley and that'll be a lot of fun and before we wrap up to we got a couple of more items to take care of first of all our move of the game that's brought to you by Mason Shram are you buying or selling move with Mason and the move group I am going to vote for the pick six I was just going to say it normally we'll peel back the curtain a little bit normally would take a break right before postgame and Steve and I kind of debate a little bit of what we want our our postgame move of the game and player the game to the be we don't need to talk about it we know both of them today the move of the game has to be the pick six what a play ended the comeback from Culver Stockton there was a point where they had got it back down to two scores and they were driving pick six ends that that was really the uh the hay maker that really was because Culver Stockton really never rallied for that asaran mohamd the pick six 38 yards that made it a three-score game and the Lancers were able to keep the Wildcats at arms length and then pull away uh for the game so asaran Muhammad the move of the game now let's talk about the Lancer player of the game that's brought to you by AA moving Health forward AA I'm going to go for Malachi Harts oh yeah absolutely it's got to be the running back for the Lancers today 24 rushing attempts 151 yards 6.3 yards per carry along a 27 and two touchdowns That's player of the game right there averaging over six yards a carry 150 yards and two scores and I tell you what rugby riken was very solid today and the backup running back k HS played a good game abut and Nick Heath got to give him a shout out with five catches on the day and the blocking of the wide receivers very solid on the day they were running wide receiver screens on every single Drive multiple times a drive because the blocking was so good on the outside you can't run those screens if you don't have wide receivers that can block and obviously the Lancers have wide receivers that can block all right 4214 that's the final score as we put a wrap on this broadcast our initial broadcast cast of Lancer football we will be on the road 6:00 kickoff at Dakota Wesleyan 505 the pregame show will begin and again the Dakota Wesleyan that will be a tough game it was an overtime matchup a year ago won by the Tigers and um that was a heartbreaking game last year at crane youngworth overtime loss yeah and let's see if the Lancers have some revenge in mind as they try to go to 2 and 0 on the season they've never done that before so let's hope that they can get that job done next week thank you to Braden Butler thank you for our Engineers back at the studio in Yankton and thanks to all of our sponsors for making this broadcast possible in the broadcast of Mount Marty Athletics uh possible here on kyn anything else you want to say before we sign off I just got to say thank you to everybody here at Culver Stockton this is a beautiful facility they provided us with absolutely everything we could ask for and it was
