12:30 kickoff there's new life in the Pack 12 Conference on Thursday the more than 100y old conference added its first new members since 2011 with the additions of boisey State Colorado State Fresno State and San Diego State and the move brings in Newfound hope but it also is not a perfect fix well programs like football men's and women's basketball and some others will see significant impacts from this deal others like baseball gymnastics even men's soccer we'll see very little the reason why the four new additions either don't have those programs or only have one or two this morning Kate zi9 asked athletic director Scott Barnes how the school plans to address that issue it's not unlike even the Pack 12 where we had uh minimal wrestling programs or gymnastics and and so one size doesn't fit all it's an imperfect circumstance um and and we lean into building around as I told our coaches and our head coaches meeting yesterday morning after this uh announcement came was look every sport uh is impacted a little differently and we've got to look at each and every sport and and tailor our our plan accordingly so that we do put each of our programs in the best and highest position we also asked Barnes if there was any possibility the multiple programs could compete in multiple conferences he said right now that's not the intent and the goal is to have as many of the University's athletic programs competing in the Pack 12
