Malaki Starks walks us through his INT vs. Clemson

how do you like playing with Nick uh I like it you know it's a little different with safety um but you know I have some practice and you know I think it just creates value for myself I'm able to help the team out you know when I go a nickel some other people can come in at safety or whatever the case may be and just help the defense out doesn't doesn't help your tackle total does it uh no no but uh you know it's not about me it's about us and whatever I can do to help the team that's what I'll do when when did that notion of you playing some star kind of come up in in the game plans you guys looked at really it really started last year um with tii and you know whenever tii would go out or whatever I would kind of step in um and you know that kind of it started on third down me covering on third down and I moved the star for a little bit and uh kind of at the beginning of the week uh towards the middle I started getting some more reps and stuff um so I mean I mean I I really do like it though cuz like I said when I'm able to go in and start some other people able to come on the field it creates a very uh hectic defense KJ being ready to play allows you to kind of move around just what have you seen from what allows to play as much as he did in his first like you did years I think uh just just the ability that he wants to grow like you can see it in the meeting rooms and walkthroughs like he really wants to learn and grow and uh he really cares uh obviously he's a great athlete but uh he's he's just like a sponge and just be able to watch him and you know play beside him today was awesome for me cuz uh when he got here um I know he would probably be in that position just to watch him grow and get better I mean I'm really excited can you walk through the intercept again I know you probably answer that question kind kind of walk through it again what happened um so the set they were in I kind of knew what they were they they were doing uh and I was kind of running with him and I didn't think the ball was coming but when his speed changed I knew the ball was coming and I really just wanted to get in Phase of looking lean um and I lost the ball in the light at first uh so I was trying to time it um you know I think I ended up jumping a little too early but it worked out uh but um once I saw his speed change I knew the ball was coming up position it like they don't really give you a lot of opportunities like were you a little surprised cuz it it wasn't a lot of patch St where yeah uh I I told one of my teammates I was I was getting a little bored um but uh you know when I when I when I realized the ball was coming I got I got excited for sure second time you made a play like that inside this very stadium was a little bit of deja vu out there a little bit uh a little bit you know it was the same direction just the opposite side of the field um uh you know it's it's glory all glory to God one
