Reviewing St Louis CITY vs LA Galaxy (Matchweek 29 Sunday Matinee games)

all righty so the Sunday MAA game have just finished and for the first time in this meeting between St Louis and the Galaxy finally saw a winner so the last free meeting between both of these Team all ended in a draw and well this game was definitely not as exciting as the free free draw that we saw earlier in the season it's St Louis though big win for them and they might just kept their their slim playoff hope alive after this big win against the Galaxy and I say it's a slim playoff hole because they're still very far away from uh making it into the playoffs I think they're still nine points behind Minnesota in terms of that final playoff spot though they do play Minnesota in the next game so there's a chance where if they win that one and depending on other Resort they can still eat in in terms of of them trying to get above the red line but yeah this was definitely the most impressive performance that they they had uh this season against a a highfly Galaxy team they really kind shut them them down for majority of this game now early on uh the first shot of the game did see B shot deflected off of his own teammate and right to McCarthy and early on you just kind of had a sense that yeah that doesn't seem like it's a good omen when you decided to have a shot that is deflected off of your own teammate uh that turns out to be be false because St Louis was on the front foot they had most off The Possession and they were reward it of them with a positive start by getting the opening goal of the game it's toyir the one that gets the opening goal for St Louis in this one there was actually a brief check to see whether or not if poer kind of handall this this one because the ball did kind of pop up and that you know I think in the end they got this one right I don't think there was uh enough to over this one and that you know anytime when you have have a play that is kind kind of hard to to tell it's not enough to to over it and I think V definitely got this one right so yeah St Louis we're leading one nothing to this point Brookman did look to response but he was denied by berky before paino had a shot that was deflect in and was was just about to be able to tip over by berki because that was a weird uh deflection there and berky just about TI that one over but another thing I also want to mention in this game they did not have Ricky Pooch because of yellow car accumulation and usually this season you know when the Galaxy don't have Pooch they're still fine but I think this game they really miss him they they really missed the the the quality that that he of course ring and also this is actually the the debut start for Mar Roy uh in this one and it was a pretty quiet game uh for him to to save the least definitely not as extr uh debut performance that he had in the last game compared to this one uh but by thought the Galaxy started to get into this game they were looking for The Equalizer though the shots were 43e for the Galaxy up to that point uh the referee then was told he sucked because that's that's kind of something we've seen more and more happening in MOS but uh we then go for a peri where not much really happened both of these team kind of lack that final ball and that at times Pace was a little bit bit slow keep in mind you know because this is a a Mata game you know that things sometimes could be a little bit slow especially in the heat to it was a very hot day uh in St Louis and that they had to to do cooling break in both have as a resort uh PE then hits one right to berky in the first minut EST L before McCarthy Deni Luben on the free cake but we do head to halftime with St Louis leading one nothing that lead quickly disappear in the second half in fact it didn't take uh more than a minute for the Galaxy to equalize as pek would score from Barry to tie the game up at one a piece Barry just came in as a sub herei make an instant impact but yeah St Louis just it look like they were still in the locker room they they were completely fall asleep at the back uh there and they pay for for it as now the game was all tied up at one a piece uh Durkin did look to response but it was parried away by McCarthy and then Heber with fires it into the stands from the corner he had a good good good some good space there but you know at the center back you can maybe forgive him him for for not be putting it on Target but I also thought that once again like majority of the season the Galaxy are very vulnerable when it comes to to to set piece defending they just did not look comfortable whatsoever though the shots were seven a piece for both of the team up to that point and then in the 67 minute St Louis R Take the Lead uh it's hardam he scored from Reed to give St Louis a 21 lead it was a very quiet game uh for for the the the front free of Hardo uh beter and quite sure yes I know those two guys of course uh well two of those three guys got on the go scoring chart but majority of the attack for St Lou didn't really involve either of them but I guess if you're going to be quiet you might as well well well in in some some uh instance where you're actually active you put the ball into the back of the net and that's exactly uh what both Hardo and toyir did the two German for St Louis uh speaking chairman Roy did look to response on the free CI but he hits it right to berky notice this is the first time I mention Marco Roy name he had a very quiet game uh in in in this one and this is also the thing that you know for for Roy you know this is the first time he he's playing a a role game especially on a hot steamy Day Day in St Louis something that he's not used to when he's playing in in the the Bundesliga in Germany how is he going to going to H handle um and yeah I mean he was kind of he was definitely not not as impactful as what we saw in the last game as well uh but there was no doubt that I also fought St Louis started to sit deep and that's not good news if you're if you're a St Louis fan seeing them sit deep because that that was the the problem that they had against the Portland Timbers where anytime and I I've said this many times when teams decide to go defensive and go prevented late in the games it's not going to go so well for them there's a reason why I invented the the phrase Ro he mo because I've seen that so many times with Adrian he with Minnesota just going into that that that Ro he mo kind of Bunker and hope we pray for for it a win and that just doesn't work out what whatsoever now to to St Louis Credit they did start to open up a little bit um mcfi did deny read from long range as the Galaxy continue to try to push for The Equalizer but they just continue to look flat and St Louis has defended very well up up to this point there was a shout for a hand ball in the Box for the Galaxy not given yovich with that headset right to berky and then this is a a a big important note I want to mention you know usually I don't mention players getting yellow card but uh yosa painto got a yellow card for descent and coming to this game he would one yellow card away from uh getting getting suspended in the next game for a yellow C accumulation and not only the fact that he did get a yellow in this instant but now he's not going to be available for Al trafco and it was a very silly yellow too I mean it was it was a descent uh yellow and that that is a huge blow for the Galaxy because we know that in in the next game when they play against LFC in Al trco which is actually going to be uh two weeks from now because we do have the international break uh next week oh that that is a huge blow because in and out tra you know it's going to be a track me you know you need to have have some Pace especially in the wing area paino of course probably one of the fastest player uh in the league to do so and that is a huge blow now that he's not going to be available and really just a silly yellow car to to do so I understand yes you're frustrated that that that you're about to to L lose a game which is something the Galaxy have not done a lot uh recently but there's just no need to get a yellow for for that especially now now you're going to be missing uh probably one of the biggest if not the biggest game up of the season for the Galaxy if they want to secure first SP in the Western Conference against LFC in Al trafco but yeah In the End St Louis they were able to comfortably hold on to win 2-1 in this one the shots in this one not really a lot of shots in this one nine shots for the 10 that the Galaxy had six shots on go for the five that St Louis had two shots off Target for the none that the Galaxy had four shots off walk for the two that St Louis had and possession wise 53% possession the 47% possession that St Louis has so again St Louis they still have Qui a bit of a faint hope in terms of making playoffs these summer signings that they they they made uh has really comes up big for them and even though as I mentioned both toy Shire and Hardo was a little bit quiet for St Louis in this one they they when they were active they they they they uh ends up on the score sheet and that that that's huge I mean you can have a quiet day but if you are able to be active at least at one point and and put the ball into the back net nobody cares that you have a a quiet day for the rest of the game but for the Galaxy yeah this is definitely the more poor performance that they've have on the road they had had some of these Road performance where they just don't look like a team that it is is currently at the top of the the Western Conference and there's no doubt that you know Greg V is going to have to figure things out because again the next game is huge against LFC and Al trafco not only you know it's the Rivalry but that could be a matchup that could decide first plays because something tells me uh with the way that you know RSL um you know I know RSL did get get a win but they kind of been struggling lately maroto might make some noise but there's kind of far behind I feel like it's it's kind of between one of these La teams to take top spot in the the Western Conference will it be the Galaxy or will it be LFC that may be all determined in that that L traffical that we're going to see in two week time but there we have it that is pretty much it
