groundbreaking was held this morning for or this afternoon rather it's something called Coco Cafe Chattanooga it's a community development project and the initiative is an effort to revitalize chattanoga Southside Cornelia Nicholson has more it up this store on the corner of Alton park has sat empty for several years but thanks to an effort by the net resource foundation in the Westside Missionary Baptist Church it now is going to become a vibrant hub for the community again mom in this for most chattan niga residents it's been years since they stepped foot inside the Big H Food Store on Alton Park the net resource Foundation a nonprofit revitalizing the South Chatanooga Community began looking at ways to bring life back into the store in 2017 councilwoman Rita doley says they started working to create Coco Cafe Chattanooga but she says it's going to be so much more than just a nonprofit Cafe from 4: to 10: Monday through Friday and the weekends it will be for uh culinary entrepreneurs they can rent the space out uh to do popups to if they want to do some type of service she says the space will also be used as a food truck Commissary for local businesses to store their food in a hub for Community meetings and if we have it you have it and we we he we got it going on out here all right resource Foundation is one step closer to opening the doors of the cafe as they held their groundbreaking ceremon and community members are excited for what's to come councilwoman Dolly says they hope to have Coco Cafe open at the beginning of next year if you'd like to donate to help support the cafe we have a link for you over on our website in Chattanooga Cornelia Nicholson Local 3 news
