[Music] hello and very warm welcome I've just got a bit of a slideshow of the images going there and I'm going to let go for your comments I've just got back from work so sorry I was a little bit late starting this stream later than advertised yeah the remarkable paper Pro what do you think they've just done their launch videos and importantly Voya who happens to live in Oslo or live in Norway rather um has been down and got hands on with it so actually he's managed to answer some of my questions if you haven't seen my launch video then go ahead and find that after this stream let's have a good chat uh some lovely to see you all let me know that you are um here and and that you can hear me loud and clear please accept my apologies for being late Christ actually I was battling some distractions I'll be honest with you at work and that's uh what's caused that I'm just going to make sure I'm not in the corner when I pop up your questions rather in that corner there so um what do you guys think are you excited are you as excited as I am I was surprised by some of it I made my own predictions I made my own predictions that it would be this size but that it would be kid O3 and uh yeah it should be it should be out in the US absolutely should be out everywhere you can uh have a little look there how many of you have ordered it already I've certainly ordered mine um just now and actually what was really nice about the uh video that Voya just released as well today is that they do seem to be having that bit more Spirit of openness which is very nice to see indeed so we've been a bit more you know a bit treated with kid gloves in the past by remarkable but he he getting Voyer getting invited to headquarters to talk about it them sharing their experience is uh you know worth it weight in gold really and uh thank you very much Christina appreciate you appreciate you all came to see straight away after the news I'm going to um have a little look through the comments this one mainly this live stream mainly just be talking to you guys about it it's a gallery 3 and that's what surprised me that really did surprise me that it would be a gallery free iink and that I thought it was going to be a cido free and the reason I thought that is because the Big M galy did not work well with the gallery 3 but I think it really speaks to uh remarkable I said in my little video that I don't think they would have put out a half-baked product and I imagine they were looking at releasing this product a whole year ago and that they have just decided time and time again that we need to make it right we need to make it a remarkable product and I think it seems like they might well have done that so so after this one if you haven't watched it already go and check out Boer at my deep guide and watch his video in full because he does get Hands-On and he got invited down to the place and he says yeah they've done some very interesting and bespoke things to allow them to deal with that Gallery free E Inc screen and it did say it said that um in the marketing material I received before I made my uh release it did say that they were that it was a custom eink stack or custom screen stack and that's amazing right so here's the amazing thing about that is that uh the gallery 3 it uses real ear capsules but it does it by actually having a different time of flight so they they they have different lengths of time where they have the electric field bringing up the different color particles and so they have to do them one after the other So eventually essentially they bring up the slowest one or they bring up I guess no they bring up the fastest one first and then that can stay there when they reverse the polarity to bring up the slower one no it's the the way around isn't it anyway it's clever but it isn't in in have made the screen but remarkable have made the stack to actually power it so normally these things come out of the factory shipped with their layers shipped with their digitizer layers for touch and shipped with the Wacom EMR layers at times but remarkable have said no we need to find a way to make this refresh quicker and to do that they seem to have made their own actual layering of glass and in that stack so screen um digitizer if you look at my iink under the remarkable sorry if you look at my iink under the microscope video you can see the digitizer wires that have to be in these things to detect the pen and detect touch so the they've actually managed to fit in that stack also a front light whilst actually making the screen to toink the top surface to Ink distance making it thinner than the original remarkable and this was always one of the tablets that left out a front light so that they could have a much smaller you know pen to e in distance and that I think is what we're talking about here I think that the the level of uh Innovations and bespoke technology that they've had to do to bring this tablet out seems really impressive now yeah I absolutely agree that this is this is hype day and I know I'm contributing to that and uh I know that the the kind of you know we don't know what it's going to be like really I haven't seen these things we're only seeing the the marketing images but they do look like real photographs and the marketing images always have these little you can hopefully see it on here they always have this Grain on top you know like it's like it's that sheet of printed paper they're really trying to go for that because they know it's not going to be absolutely perfect it is going to look a bit grainy almost like a newspaper rather than like a glossy print or like a bright OLED screen but I think it's going to be and they haven't mentioned the resolution but I think it is going to be quite high resolution and I think the colors will be vibrant and I think what they've done is they've really decided what is the in in good at showing which colors is it good at showing and giving you access to those colors and then there's loads of interesting things they've added there as well I think it's just really clever absolutely reverse the polarity absolutely this is a huge legit announcement in the and yeah I think because Brandon because it doesn't happen so often you know it's every sort of four years you get a remarkable announcement and it's you know like big news when it happens that I think this you know deserves a little bit of Buzz and if you watch their own version if you watch their own uh marketing video then you'll meet the three people that we were introduced the the CEO and the designer Matt herding and the the design of this physical product is is quite is quite incredible really I'm going to go ahead and just change the sort of loop of images to the actual product images if I can if I just do that on a uh slideshow as well because that well that's the pen there and they've had to reimagine the pen so it's gone away from wack onr which fills me with Dread if I'm quite honest I don't don't want any um sound from my slideshow though thanks very much um it feels me with Dread that they've actually gone away from the Wacom EMR but and it is a capacitive pen but so is the apple pencil I just happen to have an apple pencil sitting here whack on MMR and an apple pencil I'm not doing my top down shot today just while we're answering questions and talking about the excitement of it today but the apple pencil is a it's a capacitive active capacitive pen but also with Bluetooth which senses the orientation and the direction and how close to the screen it is and everything like that and it also has it has uh like charging wireless charging on the side of the device as well like the apple pencil so I think that they've actually taken that extra time to say well we maybe reached the end of uh We've maybe reached the limitations of the great wack on EMR technology great standard stylist by the way nothing wrong with The Wack onr on the original remarkable or anything else you see there different nibs there and that's because it's now their own standard they might be borrowing from someone else's standard and working with it I sincerely hope it's not the Microsoft standard if it's the USI it will be acceptable but I I think that they've actually at the very least they'll have worked with somebody to develop something which they say has been developed specifically to work with this iink Gallery free screen cool um Wacom have been whacked absolutely uh very warm welcome um to you from South Korea Park gang is one of my absolute favorite footballers in history thank thank you for this Ram Ramsey says resolution is 229 PPI which okay is not ideal but it's the same as before and there's nothing wrong with that it's better if that's that's full color though let's not forget and the color resolution of Kido 3 is 150 PPI so I suppose you've read that on the website I actually haven't actually had a deep look through the website it just I I know what they've shared on the website pretty much um but we can have a little look at the website as well together I suppose here it is there um absolutely what a what a cool device this is going to be and it it is about uh I'm on the sustainability report there it is about this future and we've talked about the cido is a bit of a dead end screen it's good okay it was a good sort of stop Gap that got a few years and I I think the gallery 3 is still going to take this kind of intense innovation it's going to take this kind of intense work and this length of time to develop and make it work really well if you watch voya's video you'll see they've had to develop an algorithm to actually refresh sections of the screen independently and he talked just briefly about it having a sort of recognition mode where it knew whether you were in text a text based document mainly or whether you were in a image based document and it sort of changed the way it refreshed to give you a better use and I think that's what the um that that's what they've had to do to make it work really well because the galley had this problem where you got this terrible ghosting and it ghosted like yellow tones for quite a long time after a full refresh even so there's that so I think that's worth sort of you know applauding them for certainly we need to see the thing in reality but if Voya Voya is one of the most appraising people I've ever seen um he is uh he is difficult to please and one thing I love I love our live streams when he corrects me on something I was like yeah okay fory I I I apologize you're right about that one and you may have seen his vws as well he corrected uh don't know specifically aimed at me but he he talked he showed me how to use the calipers correctly and you know I just like all that stuff being a teacher seen got a teacher in the audience as well and um you know I don't mind Corrections because that's when you learn and improve and I think that this is the this is the the attitude of this company H is one that it's got to be perfect you know I don't know if you remember the recall of the uh type folios that they did but actually there was a small problem with the plastic at the edge which cracked and they said no sorry it's going to be six more weeks we're going to take apart all of these type folios we've made and we're going to make them work right and you know while that was disappointing at the time there are plenty of other companies that said well we won't get too many complaints about about this let's move on to our next device and just to talk to that point the kind of sustainability of the remarkable the the length of time you want to live with this device they will not abandon this device for you know at least four years I'm excited to see if they do a remarkable three and they bring out another black and white one but uh they uh they will be pushing this as the pro model this will be their current Pro model for for I reckon four years it might not be that case it might be two but still that's longer than most companies who have one year turnarounds at the longest okay I'm going to look through some more of your comments as well I've got some other things that I want to say about it of course as well but there's some great things that you know it's just it's looking good is it not from what you're seeing so far um what's the difference between PPI and DPI DPI just tends to be used for printing so I often say DPI by accident uh because e in and PPI tends to be pixels which is screens but there we are they have a comparison page cool so you want me to go to the comparison page why not um not sure where that is is it at the bottom maybe but yeah comparing I guess the remarkable two rather than yeah here it is so paper Pro so I've just gone ahead and ordered myself a a remarkable with a a remarkable paper Pro with a marker and then I'm going to have a little look into the folios because um say they're they're being more open now and that's really great and they've agreed to send me one as well which is absolutely fabulous and uh you know that's that's I think that's excellent when a when a company I applaud companies that go ahead and just send their products and say test them out make reviews no sign anything no anything just go ahead and try them out and tell us what you think that's what we like to see and yeah they going to send me one this time I didn't know how long that might be so I just decided Well I'm going to go ahead and get one and what I think I'm interested to do I'm going to put it in other people's hands and I'm going to go ahead and you know I know a lot of professional people and I think that would be an interesting set of videos actually for you would be to see a remarkable what what does a teacher think of it apart from me what does a um what does a architect think of it what does another what does a doctor think of using this how does it fit in different workflows that's what I'm interested so let me know if you're here for that one everybody cool this is exciting uh some really things sorry we I didn't finish your question rasid I got the R 2 two months ago mainly because they had color inks and highlighters to help me Teach had to print everything from paper to teach from this way I could do it from the rm3 okay so absolutely um yeah so you can you you use color highlighters and they show on the screen share and that's one of the things I love about e tablets you're working on a bit of paper in front of you but the kids are looking at it like a screen share and yeah they they they had that from the start you have to now get the connect subscription I think to keep that so that's a bit of a nuisance you have a little look through the type folio and everything like that um as well just for fun it looks so you know so slim as well that this sort of the way that the the screen sorry this the way that the keyboard is revealed from it is absolutely great it's so Innovative I think that all uh tablets all computers will be using that type of folio in the future it looks really good yeah I mean don't know if it needs to float like the magic keyboard does but that adds a massive and weighty hinge as well not cheap at all although it doesn't add so much if you buy it bundled in by the way incidentally so do consider that um which yeah and have my back button yeah and then uh the markers they look quite different it might be disappointing for some of you that you can't reuse the same marker that you had already but I think if it's worth it they talked about sub 20 millisecond latency on this thing which I think is great I mean yeah look at this thing and they and they put the Pogo pins on the back and also they've got these rubber stoppers bigger rubber stoppers than they had on the previous one I apologize you're not looking at the same thing as me which is silly of me that's the joys of live streaming getting things wrong um so yeah I'll go back to I'll go back to the previous I'll go back to the folio here if you're not you know if you haven't got it open at on a different screen at home as well uh and I really like things things like okay so they don't include a tab but s pull over tab in the previous one to keep the pen in place when you put it in your bag and books went ahead and made a detachable one so it didn't have to so it could lie flat and it didn't get in your way and you didn't have extra magnets but rather doing than do that remark would have said no what we'll do is we'll leave it so that the little tab that keeps the pen safe we will keep it um we will allow it a little slot so you can fold it behind and then you can still put the uh you can still make the thing lie flat so it just sort of folds into the back of the case and lies flat there which you know there we are that's the way they do things they come up with solutions to these things and the markers here that's the marker plus and that's got the Eraser on top again and the model without the Eraser basically it's basically a second receiver used to be a second wack on EMR but now it is just a I do that look at that now it is is um a different type of receiver different type of digitizer and then the folios let's have a look at some of the different options there premium lever Mosaic weave and the polymer weave as well so the polymer weave is your entry point just gray color looks good still looks sharp doesn't it uh it's that slightly bigger size as well which you know I wonder about the portability aspect of that I don't mind too much different colors this the a lot of marketing shows it with this not my favorite color nor is the blue it's quite a bright blue that one isn't it but probably stick the gray and this has always been my favorite sort of color uh the brown leather type of color in um accessories so that's what I'd probably go for but I'm going to see I'm going to see what arrives on the review copy and then I'm going to look at getting a couple more in just to have a little look and bring you some content about that as well so great things yeah let's have a little look any any more questions um whilst we go forward then and just remind me if you can't see the thing I'm looking at um amazing yeah talking about the size so 11.8 do you mean broad there like in terms of the thickness or the or the width of the actual device in terms of the size it's um 11.8 in so it's basically 12 in so if you saw I did some content on the Lenovo tab p12 and I said that that's just such a comfortable screen and size to use but also for multitasking it's so comfortable but also the type folio was really good on that it was a really good size for the type folio the type folio on the current remarkable 2 has always been a little bit cramped so I think that's quite a nice thing that they're just going to get a little bit extra uh size for the typ folio I think that's quite cool um PL thing on folio is pretty sick yeah and again it's like what okay customers they say they tell us this now they're a little bit Apple like in their kind of attitude about things they don't release things until they're ready they're happy to innovate and they take joy in innovating they take lots and lots of time to get their designs just so and I think that's that is excellent and they um they won't release something until it is ready and that they are happy to say no you're kind of wrong they W say it directly to a customer of course but they have to say no what you want is this like apple do you want it this way we'll design an ecosystem that lets you do things our way in our considered way um it means that you can't do everything so I know I've got some fans um some people here whove been on my live streams and lots of comments from you in the past as well um you know it looks sleek the Chinese brands should take not so yeah the Chinese Brands they make excellent e Inc tablets fabulous stuff stuff coming out of there and they allow you to do whatever you want from the tablet they allow you to install any Android app but then you are left sometimes having a less than perfect experience so remarkable say no you'll get our experience and it'll be perfect for what it is work really well for what it is and we will um we we will allow you to use our tablet in that way and you will find that a good experience but the other brands that is the tradeoff there there might be some rougher edges in the software but you know what if you want to install a certain app and play with the eink center to get it looking good enough for you then you can do that you can't do that un remarkable when he mentioned that he talked about people who want email and browsers you're going to be disappointed on the remarkable because the remarkable is always going to be about your focus and look I can see that I can personally see having a little bit of both in your life perhaps I can see smaller kind of colorink devices where you can there can be mobile devices and really enjoying using this mobile phone from Big me at the minute for instance you know I think that using the thing in their way can be a drag occasionally but you know like I also think that many of us like things just to work and this just works as being a notebook replacement remarkable currently just works as being a notebook replacement and doing a few good digital things that they've kind of they've kind of added to to it uh so you got to take that choice it isn't going to be that but hopefully in a couple of years we'll have sort of other companies of reverse engineered and worked that have to do a similar thing uh providing this is as good as it sort of seems it might be on paper cool I'm just going to check that I've made a little list of things um that I actually wanted to cover I'm going to make sure that I've gone through all of those before I just go in the comments so let me know your questions and I will pick right back up after um you guys here yeah still way too expensive it isn't cheap absolutely uh and I think that's another reason to have a look at books and people like that I still think their tablets are incredible it's going to be really difficult I've been so looking forward to making another top 10 video but uh then there's just been so many releases it's just like every time I think I know what's currently going to be top 10 um what order it's going to be so I can make the video somebody writes to me and says um we're releasing this soon just uh you know it's coming for a review soon hold your horses and uh I'm fortunately I'm going to hold my hores as well I thought about maybe a nice video like to sort of see every release that comes and how they kind of slot into the thing almost like a league table we'll see and yeah it isn't cheap remarkables aren't you we're talking 600 Quid but let's not forget when you when the remarkable 2 came out this device with a folio and a pen was up to 600 Quid already so you know this color device now seems like a much more capable thing that bit bigger for a bit more real estate on the page as well it's not quite A4 size it's a good size I think I think that's going to be a good size for reading most PDFs it's going to be a good size for getting lots of notes across the page I think it's going to be really good and one thing that's great about yink by the way is you can just move things around and cut things out and you can make more room on the space as well and it's still thin and light with a really big battery as well for something of this size as well so um lots of good things as well yes there's still the subscription it's not too bad it's 299 pounds I think of maybe $399 and so it's not the world's worst thing if you're if you bought a remarkable one or remarkable two I don't think they've changed this yet then you're grandfathered into having a free cloud service forever so that's still quite cool there as well and you can take that that subscription with you I do believe also I'm not 100% this I saw it mentioned somewhere that they they're allowing you to have more than one devices or they've done that already in an update on the same account which is useful because some of you might like to have the color one and the black and white one and you can get two other eing devices for the price of this model and maybe you should because okay a tab Min C with a Kido 3 and a and a go 10.3 maybe that's the perfect combo anyway I'm going to go for make sure I've done the list so I've talked about the having a light these are the Innovations first it's got a light and actually they've managed to put a light in it and keep the distance between the very top of the surface and the actual in they keep it less than it currently is on the remarkable 2 and it is not a large distance currently on the remarkable 2 it's one of the smallest screen to actual iink surface um distances already so that's great less than a millimeter they say it's not going to be as as small as the latest Carter 1300s that we've tried out without front lights but it is still going to be quite small indeed so there's there's that I think that's quite impressive the pent as I said it's probably going to be like something like an apple pencil type thing where they're going to have some clever way of the pen letting the the screen know it's coming that's why the apple pencil is so responsive is because when the pen gets close it says I'm going to make a DOT soon and so when you're pressing the pen it's already deciding what that Dot's going to be so it can show it in the shortest amount of time I mean Wacom does this to some extent but there's no communication of where the pen is in space so the pen has little Accel monitors and things in it that allows it to know what tilt is it allows it to know when it's coming it allows it to know with kind of what velocity it's coming as well they're very clever styluses they're getting clever all the time I hope it doesn't vibrate though I'm sure it won't I'm sure they've got that right you get vibrations from the actual surface rather than that anyway moving on um I've talked about the thoughtful device uh thoughtful design their thoughtful design is through the device little ridges on the side which in the marketing they talk about it looking like a stack of paper but it's you know about it feeling a bit more like a notepad people in the Reddit and speculating with speculating whether it might fold out think were're a few years off doing that with the ink just um that as well but that kind of you know thoughtful design the way the strap goes behind the folio that's the Hallmark of what remarkable do very clever are the um Christina expand says the actual the tip looks very broad yeah in their chat they did say it would be a much longer lasting tip so like the apple pencil you don't really expect to replace the apple pencil tip very often if you use it all day every day for a sort of year you might well have to but it's not going to be like although there is a pack of tips in the thing so it's not going to be quite as long as the apple pencil as well um and one thing that I'm really looking forward to is the blend of colors so I said that they've decided to give you access to Colors which the the gallery 3 e Inc screen will produce well they'll give you access to those colors but then you can layer them and blend them like blending pencils and uh foyer says that is that to somebody who's used to blending colors on the page they will really enjoy that now I'm wondering because of course it will have to sort of refresh will it feel like that live you probably have to get to know that the device like anything any tool you have to get to know how to use it and what it does well and what it doesn't do so well so I'm looking forward as an artist to able to do that and I concluded my uh let me know have you seen my little intro video did you like that type of video that kind of you know like little chat about it little quick here's what I know straight away there on release day I made that yesterday and enjoyed that um where was I blending the colors and what I really liked what what I said at the end of that video was when I first got a hold of a mark when I did it some did some drawing on it and I can remember that drawing that I did on it it was a um deloar self-portrait deloar i' made on it wow this is a real thing this is something I haven't really used before this feels like writing and drawing on paper and I said A4 color just like this would be incredible and hopefully this is what we've got close to it hopefully this is what we have got amazing um what we up to so yeah i' talked about the they've had to innovate to make it the screen do is kind of local area refresh so I think I don't think they're going to give us like full eink centers like other devices other devices do but I think they will give us a kind of intelligent you know we will give you several options or a way for it to decide what parts of the screen it needs to refresh that's essentially how they manag to get ink to refresh so quickly with the wack onemi with the pen it's just only refreshing that certain small area so it's an extension of that great Innovation that they brought way back um so very warm welcome to that um and yeah and then other things that are just great to see them bespoke to the device uh everything is gearing towards your writing towards your thinking as you'd expect and they're going to carry on talking about that distraction free and yes I I um the CEO talks about some people manag to stay quite focused on computers and and whe when there is distractions I'm generally one of those people I I work quite well you know I can really get myself in the zone and stay in the zone but there are sometimes where I'm not that and I noticed when I was getting ready for this live stream I noticed I was uh I had a lot of emails a lot of emails seem to just come in not even about the remarkable but about a couple of other things and they were just taking my focus and it was on my screen here the little the little icon email with its little U notification sign that there was some mail there that I hadn't read I was like you know what I just close that so that I'm not cuz I guarantee you I would have been looking at that notification um and it would have taken my focus away like this teams has got a notification on it as well it's just like I don't need to see that right now I need to focus on you guys and your comments and and so the distraction free is a thing you can make it work I've talked about using an e in phone and making that my distraction free phone as well and somebody said well you can just turn off distractions on your main thing yeah absolutely but I what I want to do is I want to choose and I've made this my phone I've made the eink phone my phone and I've made a choice not to install a lot of things on there but I'm not giving up on using this great little portable tablet what I'm saying is when I want to be you know engaged in something want to do multimedia when I want to bring my photos from my camera and edit those and share them up to all my family on what's happened stuff like that then do you know what I'll do that on that thing but when I just want to go for a walk and I want to be quiet and I don't want to think about checking things and I don't want every app app to be able to get a hold of me and tell me that somebody's sent me an automated email just take this and I can still be called I can still make calls I can decide to listen to a podcast I can decide to listen to things like that there's something to be said it's not about distraction free but it's about making intentional choices intentional choices about when you want to be accessed and distracted and have your focus take uh taken and when you just want to actually focus in on some writing so I'm looking forward to that they're going to have charging on the side of the device as well again like the Apple um I don't know what I've actually written there oh yeah the sides the feel of the ridges on the side for gripping the thing I've talked about the folio folio and where they're placing the Pogo pins you know they on the back rather than the very bottom which should mean they don't have to have this little Ridge Edge which would be quite a cool thing just make the whole thing a little bit sleeker again and talk about that they have made it their own gallery 3 custom stack so I think there's going to be a lot of discussion in the next little while that's the biggest question that's what I've started anyway the the question that I had is have they managed to make that Gallery free work and that is we've talked YouTube YouTubers say this word a lot uh you can tell me books go 10.3 was a game changer there is straight they just happen to be there um that if they got that Gallery free to work then it is a game changer because Gallery because Gallery free will be able to be used in tablets and there won't be a Kido 4 probably because Kido 4 has the big disadvantage of it being too dark because the way that it basically is a color grid which is a printed color grid and they darken areas by changing black and white ink beneath it which is great because you got real black and white ink so you can have really high contrast but there is some drawbacks with this gallery 3 therefore because you don't have any black pigment so I don't think there'll be black black black blacks I think that the blacks will be a deep blue and we will see hope hopefully I'm proved wrong what Y in have said what you in showing in their little diagram their little animation that I put into my video that I put out today they show that the white is very reflective so CM Y and then W essentially so it's cyan magenta yellow and then white particles and the white is very reflective so they'll be able to blend in the white to change the tones and then the three colors they will not be reflective be much less reflective and that means that overall when you got the three colors on top it should just not reflect much light and that as you know from your sort of uh early physics secondary school year seven physics black is just an absence of light so when it's not reflecting the uh much color it's not reflecting much light from those colored in ink particles we should get black or there or thereabouts so I think there'll be a lot of discussion in the next few weeks as they start to come into reviewer's hands as we see them on camera as you guys in the public get hold of them then there'll be a lot of discussions as to whether the gallery 3 is up to the task and whether the remarkable paper Pro can actually use the gallery 3 like it's designed to do cool cool chat a couple more things they've said also I don't think I've said this in the Stream yet they've only got one light color so it's single colored lights maybe they're broad spectrum lights that would be amazing but it isn't like you can choose warm or cold and I like that because although you can blend warm and cold to get you a Balan if they've chosen some really nice balanced LEDs then it should just give you a balanced uh look all the time and you can just darken the thing and it's not going to be your bedtime reader so you don't need to limit the kind of blue Spectrum at that point anyway it's too big for that really but you and you can still put on a cozy light and have the front light off if you need to do that and and bask in the orange warmth but I don't think it's ever perfect really to have you know to choose all right all the way over here in Orange and then the colors look way off all the way over here in blue and the colors look way off you want to be balanced in the middle so hopefully they've got the LEDs nicely balanced to show that the the the gallery free in its best light that's what I'm exciting now this might be the one for you so let me know if it is the one for you um and I will look through your questions now and um yeah there's a link in the description if you want to go to the remarkable page via that then uh that really supports the channel very much as well um but I'm very interested uh as a couple of people asking as well do I think the price is Justified yeah that I think that's that's that's a difficult one I mean what can you get you can get an iPad Air for that kind of price can't you can get sort of basic iPad Air for that and I think well that's a very different device the apple pencil you then have to pay on top of that as well but I think you know if you can see I say this quite a lot here if you can see a use for this in your life you can see a use for an eting tablet in your life then buy with confidence idence because they are brilliant and I so many of you will say no I I wouldn't go back now I couldn't go back to using a paper planner at work now I couldn't go back to using paper notebooks and having them you know stack up and uh and I used to use the Oxford ruled ones and I like them and writing on them was very nice but I never ever looked back on them whereas I still go back to not I still think to myself oh yeah do you remember that note I made on my remarkable a few years ago where I um during that training that I was doing I still go back to that for me it's more difficult because I've got I've tried out lots of different ink tablets but if you see it being your place for your calm and reflective notes then do it that's I think it's brilliant okay um so there's no need for the front light to be on to be the colors nicely unlike the books color ones yeah the gallery 3 should be better in ambient light it should be better in ambient light because it's real color in rather than just darking down darkening down the other colors so you know I'm excited um to see what that's like I didn't actually use the other Gallery free but essentially the feedback was yes it looked really good when there's a static image but refreshing and writing on it was poor because of the kind of flashiness and the slow response of it and also this kind of screen burning so we will see I think they've obviously decided color yank you want a bit of front light front light and they've decided to spend the time innovating so they can have front light in a narrower screen dist and that's good I can't wait to make the review NOA um sh no good to see you here I cannot wait to make it and um and I think that's it like guys I really like making videos hi I'm kit I'm a creative person and I really like making videos and I think that's that's the thing I'm also massively enthusiastic for these and I'm also a professional and I think what's the nice thing is that like having this YouTube channel allows me to indulge the creative side of myself and I really like I like uh I like cameras I like taking photos and I like drawing and I like painting and I like physics and I like technical stuff um so you know this thank you very much for being here and and helping me just to make videos it's great fun and being here with you is great fun as well do I think the super a5x 2 will be a great competitor to the remarkable Pro I think they're different devices and I think you want you still want the uh the supernote when it comes because if if you're the reason why you would still want that is if you want just a notebook type replacement because I think this for me is about reading color documents it's about working on things like presentations it's about bit more fitting into your work life really and I think that they're they're heading that way a little bit more with the type folio and the Integrations that they're talking about and I think that for me for me I'm thinking this is my sketchbook for a long time actually that's what I'm excited for I'm excited to go sit up a hill somewhere and draw a landscape or go draw some nice buildings and be able to blend those those colors in with the diing and with the it's called the Shader pencil is what they've done so there's a new tool on the new remarkable called a Shader and you'll be able to layer the colors they give you to make all kinds of different shades so I think that's exciting whereas the a5x 2 is a powerful note taking and productivity platform the supernote software is stupendously good so we will see um how does remarkables note taking up compare to One Note well they're totally different so one note for me is about being able to access it and edit it on all different things yes you can do some editing in remarkables Cloud app and one note for me the reason why I use OneNote is because it keeps me in the Micosoft space and so that will be a difficult one because even on the vws even though it doesn't have the refresh uh the the sort of workaround that books does I've still been using one note the reason for that is because then it's available on every single other machine that I choose to go to so that's the the difficulty there and also because we use obviously Microsoft in schools I use Microsoft at home quite a lot still I think that that's why I like one though it's the integration rather than that and I think that the thing that for remarkable for me is yes you can type something on here right okay you can type something on here but then what I need to do I need to go ahead and I need to type on here that was fun now I need to go ahead and get my app out copy and paste that and dump it into something else whereas the integration between remarkable apps and if I've written something and I want to put into a PowerPoint it's a lot more seamless I can literally say make PowerPoint from Word document now and and that's the type of thing like you know so you've written can write like a uh structured Word document and then make a PowerPoint with a couple of from that and that's that's it for me really it's about it being being able to move between different things but it's about that Focus isn't it the standard theyve set from for themselves yeah you talking about the focus their design but yeah they're talking about design they designed a device for you to focus on reading and writing so the workflow for me was remarkable um the workflow is write something by hand then do uh then do text recognition on it then flip open the folio type folio then edit it and then copy it out and put it somewhere else and so it's all great until it's that oh copy out and put it somewhere else to get to get it somewhere you know that's what I find to be the nuisance of it really is is they need to put it they need to work closely with Microsoft and they're a big enough company to do that now and then I think that they they will do it really well um got the item 2 since launch and I'm still happy okay have done more but this one stays fresh yeah it is and I think you'll still have a year before a remarkable 3 incidentally I think that there'll probably be a remarkable three this time next year should we do it all again then and the ink monitor this technology can um directly connect to iPhone iPad would be a good thing to have instead of limiting ourselves to their apps yes but it takes work to make an app to be optimized for iink so I have used and I've been trying out again another PC with a color e in panel with a on currently working with an older in ink panel here as well I had a big in in panel here from Big me and it was brilliant but you know what wasn't it wasn't as good as Kido free on one of the colorink tablets and the reason for that is because the color in tablets were optimized to drive the colorink whereas this is designed for showing it on LCDs so Microsoft Windows doesn't know that it's displaying on an ink panel and the ink panel has a different resolution for black and white as it does for color so it has to no it it has to navigate those things so actually yes but unfortunately right now I I take your point niku player but the the issue is that those apps won't necessarily be optimized for iink but it's getting there it's getting better yep I watched it um straight away y absolutely I actually watched it before I watched the official thing because it said Hands-On so he's done he's got the scoop there and actually been invited down to play with the things and he was he was excited by it which means that we can all be excited by to be quite honest um black and white content how good would it look I think it would look absolutely fine I think yes it apparently I've been told it's 227 229 PPI or something like that um so it should be quite crisp but not as crisp as a 300 but nobody's sort of you know we've all said you need to have them side by side before you this is a 227 the older one before you really notice the difference between 227 then um and 300 you have to have them side by side to be quite honest my I used to um I come from an architecture background that was my degree and when I used to print things I used to make this document at 300 DPI and I would really tax my computer in 2005 to produce these high color I still see I get to the printer and the first thing he do is like change the resolution from 300 down to 150 and he'd say human eye can't detect any better than 150 I think it can but you certainly aren't anything above 150 you're happy with you you really are so don't worry too much right flickering is a little bit too much Oh you mean yeah of course yeah and that will and vo mentioned this as well that will be an issue for some people the kind of color flickering area but I think you have to accept it for what it is and as long as the way that you write isn't distracting I think they'll be okay and I think they you know it's almost like the thing is it flickers but it flickers these quite nice uh blues and magentas and and that's you know it almost looks they've made it look like something that' be desirable I honestly think you know this is my biggest hot take I think that Apple will see this now and they'll think that they could do I think they they think they'll think they could do better and I think an apple paper would you know with this type of technology I think they'll be on the phone to e in soon and I think they'll be saying could you want to co-develop something that we can call uh some kind of Apple Magic paper or something like this and I think they'll see this and I think that they'll develop at the same time it won't be called an iPad I don't think because they'll they'll keep that in the OLED and immersive kind of end but I I I'm excited for that I think they could do a really really good job for that anyway it's exciting isn't it is it that's you know it's all about Innovation isn't it love mym too plan on getting the new offering it's too expensive 729 for the bundle most will buys too much in my opin I don't disagree at all Neil absolutely don't disagree at all uh I think that's a very fair point it certainly isn't cheap but I I think also that if you were going to get rid of your rm2 you'd still get some money for that you could maybe swing it but anyway it's a tricky one isn't it very tricky yeah when you could actually join the kickstarter for vws Al it's going to be a bit of a long longer wait for that and get a great Inc tablet that does all the things you probably want to do I think you got to know I need this color I want this experience I want this this thing I think you you can you can maybe justify that for you but you're right it is two isn't it it's two uh two vws or it's two go 103s right now went an order one yeah of course they still have the 100 day um return absolutely it's the thing to do mate how about the ram yeah two gigabytes oh gosh yeah isn't it I know I didn't know that already I mentioned it but yeah that's the kind of thoughts about that isn't it you think 2 gbes how can anything be 2 gabt in 2024 and I agree but I also think that uh because it's running it's um because it's running the custom software it doesn't need much more than that it's running Linux you know it could run on a Raspberry Pi frankly um it could run on a Raspberry Pi from a few years ago quite frankly uh what are we up to sorry um so that's have 10 PDF files in there and I would like to have at least two of them uh which would be able to switch between them fast I think so I mean it's okay yeah if you want to do that though you probably don't want the remarkable um if you want to be handling large volumes of PDFs now let's just get one PDF that's 154 page PDF and there it is it's open let's go again 125 PDF and there we go it's open so really that's all right isn't it now it's open oh the pages that way of course this and this is the old one with just one gigabyte of ram it's quick enough can I just go to the page previews and get around it that way you I think they'll probably be all right okay yeah it's not as fast as your iPad or do it with it M4 chip or anything like that but does it okay um pretty expensive is it a fair price Yeah couple people asking that that one there um I think so given the amount of innovation it's it's a oneof a kind product at the minute nothing seems off the peg so the latest setup is use go 10 3 as best reader RN paper notebook combine both yeah yeah I'm I'm a bit of an advocate I ever having the remarkable ecosystem or supernote ecosystem and something like a book probably you know um one of them being color one of them being black and white my pleasure Marco just glad to have you all watching it will just come it will sink through so I I had the one and I bought the two and it just syn through as well very warm welcome to you geeko it's good to see you here on the live stream yeah I love the supernote too which is an incredibly focused device as well I don't think Remar was going to be stealing uh the device but you're excited by this and I am too I think this is a it's a device for for the people um like us here on the stream absolutely good to see Dave here absolutely um security concerns MSP customers mention remarkable already deployed uh okay I'm I'm guessing something about data management there as well yeah I'm not sure but at least I mean um I mentioned this to a family member who uh security is very important to them and I talked about using the books devices um and although there isn't major concerns necessarily with the books devices he did say yeah okay it's Chinese company so I might not be able to swing that with my bosses um but then I said well uh remarkable of course is in Norway he said well they're all right aren't they so there we are it's uh not always easy but I I wouldn't worry too much about security save doco I don't know oh you mean uh doc uh docs yeah well they have this you can Center remarkable from word or PowerPoint but that's about it so I hope there'll be a more two-way uh work with Microsoft in its future don't don't use net while using books example okay so essentially you work offline here yeah there should be Google Drive I mean they've got um they do have Google Drive integration on the remarkable itself and it's not certainly not going to go backwards the Integrations you can can have Google Drive I think you can have Dropbox as well um I don't think you can have Microsoft but I could be wrong uh and you've got their own cloud as well so you can sync to other things as well it's something that doesn't affect concentration as an essential feature what do you think yeah I I I don't disagree um that for me Google Drive is essential but then I'm a Google Drive user I don't think everybody has to have Google Drive uh my pleasure thanks Rob for that much appreciated yeah it's I hope you can you can see my kind of excitement of this new launch here Rob um but I do appreciate you taking the time to go there that way um it does obviously help and it it allows me to keep making these videos and as I said earlier on hi I'm kit and I like making videos so thank you very much um and I just like bringing you this content really it's you know it's really fun it's really it's hard work but it uh I was working till quite late yesterday to make that video but there we are didn't say anything about sharing with one drive yeah should you return it I don't think so gonzale it depends what do you want I mean do you need the the thing with color uh are you lusting after the the shinier newer one because you don't forget you just bought something that's half of the price so you know and and is it half the utility almost certainly not um but I didn't hear anything about them saying anything with one drive glad they open up for other makers yeah I agree yeah absolutely need Google apps so got to go for the books and that's not going away and let's wait and see what books have of their sleeves I don't think it'll be a gallery 3 module this this Autumn but uh who knows I I actually know nothing at this point by the way so um don't think that I'm hinting or anything data encryption and better pin protection that's good news those people who concerned there yep nice looking device not for me yeah you won't be alone of course it's just exciting to to sort of see where this stuff is going isn't it and this for those of you that are saying it's a bit too expensive then this is the Innovation that will PVE the way for it being cheaper later on okay yeah got it um encryption is fine it's Linux so it can be very um very secure of course oh yeah okay yeah so you can't use in tune for instance yeah yeah so InTune one of the reasons why the books are so good is is now they they can use Microsoft in tune and give you the badged work apps which I think is fabulous that really does it for me you know the fact that I can go in and find my work documents or I can just decide to actually work on that Excel sheet on an eing screen you know coloring screen is absolutely brilliant it absolutely does it for me um yeah I know you helped that focus and geekanoids one of the early videos I saw when I started working um in this way I was kind of inspired by geekanoids because he reviewed an IPO visualizer and you know guys I'm into IPO stuff and I still got the the first just in case I have to plug it in quickly my IPO visualizer and whilst I was getting ready to review this IPO visualizer I looked at geekon oid's Channel and he did a live stream unboxing this thing and showed me around how to use it it was invaluable we really appreciate you Dave um keep going with your content really enjoy what you make um I have a remarkable two but need more functionality likely gravitate to books unless more functionalities allowed in the future yeah hear that um cool struggling with planners on in too many clicks to get to the page I need not very efficient I'm seeing the Streamline workflow books user here yeah you definitely need um it's all got to be about streamlining hasn't it and and remarkable do do that I mean it it is a very streamlined workflow I tend to be for the thing I've always quite liked is the quickness of getting to a quick notes although now they've made it longer somehow they made it two presses rather than one and then that you can send that quick note out to other places and then you use the kind of page previews to get around um all the tags and things like that as well what's the interaction of a remarkable Pro for the academic competitors competitors I I think that it would be larger but larger but smaller it will be larger than this so working with a a PDF which is designed to be shown A4 is um it's not as good on this size and you end up viewing it in landscape uh but the bigger devices the kind of books devices of the world there's the 10.3 devices they are just so big you need to have a full-on laptop bag to fit it in so it's going to be somewhere in between that those two sizes and I think that's quite neat really I think that'll be a good thing uh it'll be probably just big enough to read comfortably something designed for A4 um because you you will be able to uh sort of snip off the margins essentially so you can just read the text and um but it will be small enough to just go in most bags so I think there's lots of good things there and then academic papers often have color figures which are difficult got to decide between two lines when they're the same sort of tone but different Hues of color so I think that should be good um yeah and I think you have to know that you that that's what you want really we talk a lot about distra if you if you haven't read digital minimalism it's a must read he just asking me if I'm going to sell the rmt uh yeah I mean I bought my own one so there's no no reason I shouldn't do that probably keep it for a little while PR I tend to give it away give things away to friends and family really when whenever I get to that point yeah I don't think the supernote is going to be cheap even though I must admit it's not be as cheap as the books ones so that's your choice maybe at this point isn't it is uh books I wouldn't say it's cheap but um it's certainly a lot of functionality for a great price supern will be that midpoint and this part paper Pro will be the uh the pro option yeah incredible right which is almost the going price anyway yeah I'm glad they didn't they did mention AI actually but they said we've considered it and we Pro perhaps think about it for the future what I think people need to do is just we we aren't still we aren't still just amazed by what AI can write I used AI today I used AI today because I wanted to add a story about Emil thehat into my PowerPoint for my kids at school and I just asked AI to write the story focused on the Collision Theory and the idea of energy and reactions write it for a 14-year-old reader make it only about a paragraph long press and I asked it to add one little thing and then I read it and edited a couple of sentences and boom it was there really nicely written little story about ail the Sha today there it was great uh that was the one time I used it today useful that was on my my laptop I don't also need that in this place really and what it isn't is a silver bullet I'm not going to do that every time I want to write something yes I could have written something myself in that probably in that same amount of time but I don't actually think it would have been as good as what we ended up with so we need to focus on AI is not just make things quickly I'll get text on the screen quickly the text that nobody wants to read it's get better quality out of the same time that's my opinion anyway I'm not going ahead and writing my scripts anytime soon with AI doing the actual writing I'll use AI to transcribe my voice so that it's in nice neat sentences when I've ummed and er the kind of uh you know the first time that I've expressed my thoughts I'll use that to to just get it into nice neat sentences but then I will edit myself as well loads I mean there's loads more comments um will have to bring it to a close at some point but so far people are excited and so am I on the security piece concerns the egressive data from the device of corporate use yeah absolutely yeah so that is that's the thing and that that was an attraction of the old Quirk logic paper they allowed companies to do that and that's the attraction of having anything that can just you can just use Microsoft cloud in for instance so thank you for this I really appreciate that they they perhaps do need to look into that especially as they sell bundles of these things to to businesses and I think that they really would like it they would would love it if when you when you started work at a a new company they handed you your laptop and they handed you your remarkable paper Pro but to do that they need to know those things are secure and I think that's a really there you are that's your um market research they're remarkable well I don't know I haven't tried them but I would say for um academic papers if you know there's going to be color figures then you want the color screen really I think there'll be 13.3 in collider free screens coming soon which I really want to try out Rodrigo tabex is a great time for annotating on big old documents absolutely um so definitely look into that would I want to see a dedicated Kindle up I just don't think they want to work with that with Amazon that's the thing and I know they could sort of just Port an app on I don't think they and I don't you know I don't blame them I just think that they they want to they want to stick with and and they want to stick with this line of like where this Clos ecosystem with this place to focus you don't need your reader on us you've got your reader next door or you know I I think that's fine my pleasure I enjoy the hard work would I recommend a nomad over the paper Pro I think they're very different devices they could certainly be you know that would be a good combo that would be a great combo Nomad and paper Pro now nomad being a little bit smaller than the remarkable I haven't got one with me but I've got another I've got the older a6x so you could have the Nomad and you could have the device that fits in in between these two um that would be the size of the Nomad the remark will be a little bit bigger what a great combo you'd have one with color you'd have one with black and white brilliant thanks Christina for your contribution there it it should just a bit like a when you sign in it will bring all of your things down from the cloud just make sure that you have uh done a sync on your first your older device and you'll be fine oh sorry how do you transfer it to new user well you either go factory reset or I think you can just sign out of the thing actually but that will leave all your files still on it so I would if you want if you want to give it to someone who you um not don't trust but who maybe isn't in your family Circle then uh you then you want to do a factory reset so it's wiped and then they can sign in with a new account when it when it loads but if you're just giving it to a family member and you think maybe one day you might want to use it again then that you can just log out and they can log in and all of their things will come down from the cloud anyway so worth thinking about that that's it yeah a lot of people yeah wait and see for the gallery 3 um I'm excited enough to take a punt and go for it um but uh we will see as I said in my little intro video that remarkable don't do things by half so yeah and I think this point it took them three four years to make this release and I think that's because when gallery 3 was first announced by iink they were really excited said that's the future that's what we're going to do and they got it and the reality was that they couldn't make it work well quickly and so they took those three uh those two or three years probably or two years of development I think from when gallery 3 was announced they took that and they worked on it and they and I hope that means they got it right I will be disappointed in them and their sales will suffer if the initial reviews are quite bad and uh disappointed if that gofree doesn't live up to this promise here and that will mean that a future remarkable three won't sell as well and I think that's it like this is I don't think it's a risk I think it's a very calculated I they've got it right I think they would have just decided to release a remarkable three if they hadn't got it right I think because everyone would have been would have still been here talking about how amazing a remarkable three with 300 PPI um at about 400 we would still be having this conversation about how excited we were about that um you know similar size basically the same device just looking a little bit newer we'd still be talking about how good that is so they don't need to add color to to create the hype and sell devices they they want to add color because they think this is going to be a great device for people um I don't think it does support split screen but I think that's the type of thing that they probably will add so right now it's going to have a very similar operating system to the remarkable 2 but then at some point they will probably Fork them and it will so it's already forked in a way because the remarkable to won't have the color options but they will then develop the remarkable paper Pro I think in order to take use some more of that screen real estate because you're right when you open up the uh type folio currently although they've given you a width option when you open up the the typ folio currently the text goes right into the middle you know and that is and an issue um actually got a sort note up but the the typed text just sits right in the middle of the of the screen rather than to one side rather than going right across the whole thing it just make would make sense to allow you to use a side by side um so I certainly think that they will do that eventually but I don't think it does I haven't seen any images of that so far and CJ from reg gu good to see you here um from 20 s on the EU device will have to have replaceable batteries the in Pro does not they might have to introduce new devices then that's interesting that's an interesting point um yeah so they said they they it's a unibody so that it can be more easily repaired so that should lead to more sustainability it should be cheaper to repair that device um because they won't have to open it up in the same way W have to waste so much stuff when they do so but it won't be user replaceable battery it won't be user repairable either so um I think they'll get there uh and let's not forget Norway aren't part of the EU um but um yeah the and I think the the thing as well to remember is that will be certain types of devices there will be caveats and things like that as well so we'll see I'm a consultant and what I need is a good place to read PDFs make a lot of notes easy to find organize them uh client make sure don't lose them books go 10.3 or remarkable uh Pro well I think you've predicted almost the focus of my content for the next couple of months to be quite honest Gonzalo I will try not to contribute to your analysis paralysis I think um let me read you one more time again both of them tick both of those boxes so it's what you want to get and it's what you want to spend it's what you want to to get on top of that and what you want color on top of that you want possibly some of the most Innovative eink Tech but also spend almost double or do you actually just happy with black and white and you think that they'll do all the things you want to do and you'll be so super satisfied because it's great yeah those are your choices often or always correct I would say B squ says when they mention companies releasing devices every year do you think they're speaking about onbook yeah companies always do this kind of thing I didn't actually spot that so um maybe see that in another thing uh yeah they they often allude to things don't they like Samsung and Apple are always at it aren't they PC and Mac Microsoft and Mac are always at it as well although they are so willing you know have you noticed in marketing from either of them they're so willing to call each other out by name aren't they whereas other companies just hint um but yeah it's not just Onyx books that release a device every year so the Samsung you know more than the device every year Lenovo they all release devices often it's it's uh there we are but I think we like iank and I think also because this is an AUX device still I don't think this is replace everything you know something like an iPad is aiming to replace everything you know the idea of an iPad for a lot of people is I can replace all my Computing with this thing and a lot of people can I I can't but a lot of people can um so if if it's that type of device your one device uh you know that you're happy and you use it every single day for L large amounts of time every day you're happy to kind of upgrade and enjoy the upgrade process and see what they release maybe once every two years you know with phones for instance most of us were locked in that 2-year cycle most of us now leave it for longer than that but with an auxiliary device more you know it's better for it to um it's better for it to last and live with you for longer and that's what remarkable 2's done and that is what uh supern not have done you know they've lived with you for for four years and this can still live with you for another four years if you will incidentally while just sat there and updated I was talking about it us using a wider screen real estate when it's in um the type folio and it just it's just updated to the latest software which has allowed it to do that so there we are uh marginal gains they said two choices per column width you can decide how much of the page to fill with type text uh nothing about actual split screen though but that would be quite nice wouldn't it I think that would make sense for device of that size one device with active stus and one with Wacom is not going to be great yeah that's an interesting one I love that I can use same wack on pen on my books my phone I can describe my tablet yeah wack is just absolutely fabulous if this is better then that would be impressive to see but there we are leave a like share this man yeah has it not got more than 80 likes already Gonzalo if there's 95 people on right now then it should have a minimum of 95 shouldn't it so go ahead and leave your likes everybody thanks Gonzalo that's that's a um call to action from the audience maybe I should put you guys in charge of the calls to action if you want to also do one about if you're planning on buying one buy through the link in the description because it helps support the Channel gives me more time to uh support you guys in your buying decisions and uh allows me to make more videos more content for you does the device get around the unresponsive areas of the screen with the remark to you pointed out yeah there nothing about that so far I think that's a that's a challenging one and they've they've read they' they will be on the second generation of type folio now so the one thing about it is like when it locks into that that mode there then there's a lot of magnets there to do so and those magnets are still they're still in the case when it's lying flat so you get this Ridge in the Middle where it's um it's not perfectly accurate and then when you take it out of course there's also magnets on the back of the case just to stick it into the case so there are magnets there in the back of the case as well so they sometimes interrupt not much it's not by much it's definitely there you can just see the wobble in the corner there maybe cover up my face that was a magnet that's there um that the magnet in that corner that means that when you get to that corner the handwriting is not perfect so have they solved that I think they'll have improved it but they won't have solved it completely if they're going for a magnetic case which I believe they are will the Samsung S9 yeah it should do yeah the um the S Pen works on other things is the way around it normally works Al then now look the the my Samsung S P doesn't work on the remarkable although it is the same technology they can have different actuation points you see um but Samsung always says no if you try and use a competitor's pen on it um so no although um Voyer often uses his his his S6 light pen which again is the same technology uses that on other things wait for the books tab supercolor c pro 4 to come out in a year with the same screen in app store well they won't be far behind I'm sure and they will be watching today and they will be discussing they'll have ordered a few probably and that's the way they work obviously not just them that's the way the business works I should say looks like a great comic reader I think so uh you don't need to joke I'm I'm really enjoying reading graphic novels of course on the little um color uh big me absolutely love it and I love the fact that you know when you've got a minute you can have a few a few extra panels of uh comic it's really good it's top drawer actually really enjoyed this Watchman I'm almost at the very end of it and I've been reading that in tandem with more serious things like deamor yeah I think it will be great for Comics but then you don't just want PDF Comics do you although there's a lot of you can get free pdf comments I think it'd be really great for that followup question would the pen work on paper Pro would this side or working no so I think the the paper Pro I think that the only the remarkable markers will work on the paper Pro for a little while then they'll eventually if it's very popular then third parties the esrs of the world um great companies um who manag to make more affordable this is an official apple pencil but there's a lot of more affordable options for example for apple pencil that can um save you 2ir of the price and work almost as well will they make the notes searchable uh yeah eventually I'm sure um might need a couple more than two gig though because that is a slow process on the books to search for at all love to able to read Kinder books on it which is why still books for me great looking device I'm going to um call this in a second everybody books should make this Tech even faster yeah and that's the thing that you know books for me it's about whether you're innovative in the open isn't it thewoods and books and supernote are innovating in the open whereas remarkable have played this so close to their chest and I mean goody reader got the scoop though they really did they they are the one that said rumor is I don't know who gave them that rumor but rumor is remarkable is actually working on a 12in advanced color e paper and they were spot on so well done to them um but yeah they books certainly do innovate in in the light of day does the typ polio make it a lot fast uh lot more fat with barely noticeable it is definitely fatter yeah there's no denying it it's like adding another half the device maybe no another two thirds of the device even maybe so there we are and yeah I think yeah I think that's going to be that I'm I'm the same as you by the way and if I want to sketch on it I take it out of a folio all the time and I think but even the book folios they're still they still have some magnets in them so the the best choice if you want a sketch is to hold out of that but actually that's lovely holding it um holding this one holding it in one hand you know you hold it sort of behind it like you would a Sketchbook and you just sort of balance it and get into a really comfortable way um yeah sketching looks great oh pen and nib and Pen combo I the vws ones really quite good actually using the harder nibs not the ones that keep breaking on people um but yeah yeah no it's the supern note it's the supern note for sure the heart metal to and the F right to brilliant color at school is it too early vir story it's worth a read hope this enti Brandon back with the vid hope so too interesting people thinking yeah well I can still leave that Kickstarter and back and not back this but buy one of these T you Reon for most writing under 500 uh if it's for typing then you want the not F3 I think because of the BSR the book super refresh technology but if it's just for writing by hand then just go for the um go for the go 10.3 I think at this point yeah finally an update for four years cheers TS great to see you here my man just thank you all for rocking it and being here um discussing things it's not just me bringing the insights everyone's asking good questions yeah 64 gigabytes and yes I think that's sufficient for what you're going to use this for so you're not going to have any space taken up by apps you're not going to put lots of photos and things you're just going to read PDFs and and do writing with and I I've used almost two gigabytes after three three years of using this I don't daily drive it but um not always I go back to it when they do updates and things but um yeah just you know you don't need masses of storage I think that's plenty of storage really with color be distracting compared to black and white well I don't think remarkable would want anybody saying their device was distracting so well certainly you look the thing that's distracting on our phones is the way that it kind of controls us via notifications and there'll be no notification system no no way of somebody emailing you on your remarkable Etc what do I think of a possible comparison remarkable being the Apple ofx but Onyx being innovators and more futuristic I think that's very that's very apt quite honestly yeah talk talked about remarkable being a bit apple-esque quite a lot it's often the comparison because the way they kind of just come out with a here's what you want and look here we are we're all wanting this right now aren't we and they seem to have got it right but Onyx being the uh the more futuristic ones I suppose interesting that Onyx are you know they are the ones for me that so far have managed to get the best out of in in and it' be interesting to see if remarkable get that that uh that name going forward W as being an innovator of use of e Eno not just an innovator in the space of eaper displays but actually how to get the very best display quality out of ink so you are quite late to the party because I'm about to say thank you so much to everyone for uh watching how long will it take for other manufacturers to catch up well we don't know let's wait and see let's H because this is hype time isn't it exciting time let's wait and see so we can be objective and say is this a good thing is it actually getting the best out of um out of Galley or will it be in a year's time with ah that color e paper wasn't quite it yet uh we'll see but I certainly think this is the advanced eaper is the way that um is the way that iink are going and so making that work well is I think crucial for the ink Market because in 10 years time everything will be a color every paper display will be color as long as we can get it working quick enough really what do I choose between books and remarkable it has been books for a long time but this is a device that could certainly change that and um I I as I said earlier I think I'm um I think I'm I'm someone who can focus for long times without needing to get rid of notifications uh you know I I have my little work session in the morning at 5 o' in the morning and do two hours work for anyone wakes up in my house that's the type of person that I am um be uh brodacious about it but uh that um that that's that's how you you make you know you find time when you're in the right space of mind and you you turn the phone off or you leave the phone over there and you you close the email app you know you do things like it doesn't you don't need a new thing to be a more focused person and so therefore having options on books is what I've enjoyed in the past and I'm going to answer Steve's um he's got a little membership badge check out the join panel if you are interested in that questions about connect lots of exclusions vague mentioned of extra cost features beyond the monthly fee and the protection plan doesn't even cover accidental damage pretty useless yeah the connect thing I think was a um so that was a interesting point for remarkable we were all like when's remarkable 3 going to happen two years ago and um and instead they brought out a subscription plan which took away things we already have and didn't really add much anyway like they took away the um screen share and now that's only available with or certainly they made it only available with the connect plan and they took away un it wasn't unlimited cloud storage but it was cloud storage that lasted for a long time and now you it only lasts 50 days if you don't access it and if you access it it starts again like it's a funny thing uh but it's still there on your device and if you access it again it can just be a new file in your Cloud so yeah I agree it is a vague thing thanks for that Stephen really do appreciate that one um interesting one but also what they then did because they got a lot of backlashes they said well we'll reduce the cost and I think what they they um they made this big news event you know they they were a billion dollar valued company and they had a lot of investment from vure capital and stuff at that point and that's fabulous news for them and that you know being up there as billion dollar valued company is incredible from their sort of relatively humble startings then um they they needed to show I think to those new investors that they had ways to make this very sustainable and now the fact that they can recoup that little bit of connect surface service and it not be too honorous for people you know that software is a service thing you know you all of a sudden found that you were spending a few hundred pounds Here There and Everywhere for these little 799 um for subscription things all over the place they even had two TI initially but they've come back that as well um so maybe I'm wrong about the screen share thanks for double checking that I think maybe they added that back in there will be a comparison there'll be a chart somewhere um but effectively I think most people who do get the uh tablet will get connect um 299 per month it says unlimited cloud storage automatic sync create and editing apps remarkable prote ction plan and exclusive offers so creating editing apps I think that's the one thing possibly being able to like write on your phone and everything like that uh rather than just be able to view on your phone I suppose there a thing there remarkable protection plan but Steve says that's not really worth it freear defects that aren't cause back setup damage um we replace it for free of charge okay I say I think luckily you can use it without that the automatic s okay probably would want that unlimited cloud storage you might want that not sure what the the um limit is and I don't know what the exclusive offs are but you're right it is pretty vague cool remarkable AR going with Android now they they're not uh do I think that's a good thing I prefer having the access access to the App Store myself um but it's not necessary for the aims of the device and I can't wait to bring you a teaching video as well in here thank you very much all for being here wow remarkable free the remarkable paper Pro I don't think I wasn't expecting that when they reached out just on like Tuesday night was it no Monday night they said we've got some news for you if you can agree to keep it um under wraps until Wednesday and I've of course said yeah let's uh let's find out I wasn't expecting this entirely and exactly this way I wasn't expecting this now but there we are it's here my pleasure Jack great to be here
