welcome to tuscala Alabama where Legends are made and titles are won briot Denny Stadium home of the Alabama Crimson tie there's just something about the night cap after a day of wall toall football it just seems this is when chaos ensues as we'll see a squad from Conference USA the Western Kentucky Hill toppers taking on the sixth rank team in the land the Alabama Crimson tie for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one [Music] [Applause] started Alabama about to kick off to get things start he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 so Western kuy's offense takes the field and here's the man they rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it and he's done it at such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the big moments and he's won of the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line linebackers have such an amazing amazing responsibility got to play run got to play pass how about this seeing the Run aggressively getting downhill and getting in the back field and making a tackle for a loss after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 he's looking to throw oh he can't hang on to the football a big play sitting right there for the taking and they can't get it done early in this one that's one of those plays where you're going man probably could have made that the defense wasn't great on the play but guess what it goes down as an incompletion those one of those bullets that you got to dodge toout a game to get the win to limit those big plays grabbed in the back field it's Smith he's really close to that first down marker but they stop him just a bit short one of the things I love about this defense they just have such great awareness and they're always communicating they understood the down and distance they knew exactly what they needed to do to make the tackle to force the punt that is so well done the hill Toppers will line up to punt it away perhaps feeling that coverage coming signals for the fair Catch and makes it at the 25 the Crimson Tide offense comes out and now they'll go on the attack and a big key as this game unfolds is just how aggressive will he be throwing the football at a lock down corner like that yeah and and when you're an elite quarterback you think you can do whatever you want to do and you think you can make the right decisions I'm interested to see how much he'll test that quarterback on the other side you know there's a saying there's no defense for a perfect pass but he's got to be extra careful and sharp when he's throwing that guy's way last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 hand off from the gun push down for the tackle and I know it's not first down um but I still like the way they they ran the football here just try to make the next third down manageable try to get it where it's not as predictable I think the offense did a really good job being smart there taking what the defense gave him how bold will they be on third down after that last run scanning the field it's milro fires to the tight end he's right out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks well that play was designed for that down and distance right you saw how he barely got enough to pick up the first really nice job by the play caller there understanding the situation of what play to dial up the Crimson Tide comes to the line with the first and 10 the give from the gun really nice stop there from this senior leader yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent make that defense physically meet the challenge got three on first down it's second and seven on the ground it's Haynes they'll get him down but not before he crosses the 50 he's down to the 49 if you're going to play Bama tough you're going to find out really early if you can handle the running game yeah they're going to check your chin I mean they're going to come in and they're going to give you a steady diet up and even when they've had great quarterback play and spread the ball out it's still a physical principle they're going to make you stop the run and if you can't stop it it could be a long game he off one deep down the left side they ripped off a big one and they get it down to 27 really nice play getting that first down and listen I know when a lot of people think about the Crimson tied recently they think about the success they've had at the quarterback position a big reason why though those guys have been playing so well they're throwing the NFL Talent all over the field and this dude right here he could be the next first round pick at the wide receiver position from Bang from the gun running back on the move you keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to commit more guys to the Box more guys to the run that you open it up for the passing the big pick up on first down leaves him with second and one looking to throw it's milro makes the grab down the middle that completion will take it inside the four and the offense is threatening really good job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end has a chance to run a little and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate throw I I got to hit those guys on the move on the run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some extra yards from the gun looking for a man grab near the marker it's prentis and they will score touchdown tie and what a nice start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting into Rhythm nice start for this offense they'll try to tack one more on their score exra point and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game so they put together a nine play 75 y yard drive and they C the drive with a four yd touchdown pass the kickoff team out there getting set the returner will field it and try to do some business I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 off the play fake on first down grabbed in the middle it's young they make the stop right there good pickup and still short of the first down early in the game as a DB I'm settling in it's okay if I give up four six seven yards I'm just trying to get settled in gauge the speed and then later on I can adjust to the speed of the game looking at a second and short now they go to the ground tackle is made at after the first down well the defense knew coming into this one it was going to be a physical game guys are going to have to be great at the point of attack and get off blocks and make tackles it couldn't stop the offense from picking up that first down on that run play now on First and 10 from the 29 they'll ride the hot hand and he knock him down after picks up five out to the 34 I know that wasn't a big huge play and everybody's not excited the fans aren't going crazy but those are the plays that in the fourth quarter matter a lot again making you tackle my back making you feel the physicality of the football game throughout so you get tired and get more that first quarter off the play fake throws to the wide out makes the grab he's brought down but there's a flag on the field see what the call is so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty offense gets set for second down they'll go to the ground and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land great team defense on that one play everybody doing their job people winning their one-on ons D linemen staying in their gaps linebackers and DB's filling you just can't do it better this offense really needs to get something going punt on the opening drive and now a third and 10 and the ball comes out what a disastrous play defense just cradling that fumble and securing it touchdown B the defense with the scoop and score you know the defense is all about stopping teams but when you have a chance to swing momentum scoop it and score yourself it is such a huge play yeah you just go over the offense like bro we don't need you today we got this we we we'll score ourselves if we have to great job by the defense doing what they need to do and then go talk a little trash to the offense on to attempt the try is on for the extra point and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 that is a defensive player's dream ball sitting there chance to scoop it up one with it and they don't stop you until the band starts playing they're just about to kick it off after that scoop and score six he'll bring it out it's young he stopped short of the 20 at the 19 and probably wishes he' just taken the Touchback the hill topper offense comes onto the field again single back formation and they give it to it just gets it to the 28 pick up of one and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knockbacks and limiting his cars didn't get much on first down it's second and nine leaves it with the running back he'll get it up to about the 32 yd line before he stopped and it'll be first down all right well look I know the defense was feeling real good about their Runde coming into this one and how they've been playing up to this point but finally David the offense breaks through and they finally generate something positive on the ground and I can't tell you how easy it is when you're going to throw the ball consistently and I know it I'm going to pin my ears back and I'm going to get to the quarterback it makes life really easy on the defensive line but when you can have balance now the defense doesn't know what's coming they need more of this if they're going to be successful on offense you know it's typic difficult for QV sometimes when you're throwing to your running backs because they're not receivers you really got to be perfect with the ball placement you got to make that a catchable throw a little bit too tough for the RB onl he'll keep it himself and they pick up just one it'll be third and nine well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism you'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward and the Freshman will CH up a sack they'll tell you that somebody's always going to pop open but it didn't happen in time before they got the sack no it did not and you know what I'm going to remember this I'm going to remember zone defense they didn't really have an answer they weren't ready to get rid of the football quarterback hesitated I got to him and got him on the ground might be a good call later on in the game and the hill Toppers will call on their punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 here comes that Alabama offense really good balance on that last Drive they mixed it up all over the place Jesse yeah how nice too to have the defense on their heels because at this point they don't know what's coming at him they had problems stopping everything that last drive so I think this defense would come back with a little more aggressiveness I mean they let them have what they wanted now they got to dictate to this offense a little bit more let's see what they've got on second down looking to pass it's milro got his man and he's brought down after a nice game every good quarterback is first a game manager at Alabama that used to be sort of a a label of derision but now they're not only that they're Playmakers yeah and it's what they used to ask them to do like like they were very comfortable handing the ball off running the ball controlling the clock you know trying to keep your defense fresh nah bro if you can't score points now if you can't get first downs and go get me touchdowns you're not going to be on the field really nice run there listen you know modern day college football I know it's all about spread offense and throwing the football and Going Up Tempo and scoring quickly but man you think back to Bear Bryant and Alabama doesn't it always seem like they've always wanted to establish the Run game they've always wanted to be physical Bear Bryant would have loved this guy in his backfield with his physical style of run running man he fits that just perfectly got it inside the 30 before he's finally pulled down at the 25 it's a gain of six yeah this coaching staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting them drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage so Alabama takes the lead into the quarter break they wanted to strike first and strike hard and they've been able to do that here in the first quarter as we take a look at the stats this could be a pivotal moment in this game as we open the second period and they try to find a way to answer on second down he's looking downfield and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense uh missed opportunity on offense QB and receiver just not on the same page there Ball's at the 25 they're in field goal range but they'd love to convert this third and short fights off a Defender and he's knocked down but not before moving the chain well this guy's a weapon throwing it and running it and you know he's going to try to hurt this defense with his legs it puts so much stress on the defensive line to chase him and the fact that the play is extended so long yeah if they've got a spy defensively if someone's athletic enough to run with this guy that's going to be maybe a a sound move moving forward schematically they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and you hear about run blitzes this is exactly what a run blitz is when you know the balls coming up the middle you want to bring those linebackers get them closer to the line of scrimmage and fire right when the ball snapped he's coming downhill doing a good job creating the loss that linebacker really knew what was going on back to pass it's milro unloads to the wide out makes the catch oh and he thought he might be able to wiggle his way into the end zone but they knock him down at the three this offense is clicking everything working together really well coordinator quarterback offensive line good Rhythm good flow defense is going to have to find something to kind of mess up this timing they got going on calls his own number he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three loses brings up second angle defense rose up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming they'll keep it on the ground right up the gut looking for six touchdown Alabama and they take it in for six more points follow the blockers the offensive line will take you to the Hallelujah land and I tell you what most of the time Reese it requires a little bit of skill to find that hole and you know Slither through a little crack that was not a crack that was wide open didn't take a lot of vision cuz the blocking was outstanding lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they're up 21 to nothing an impressive 66y touchdown drive and he found his way to the end zone from the seven to C about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Applause] touchdown he'll bring it back from inside to spot he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 here comes the Western Kentucky offense back onto the field they're down by 21 points but you get a touchdown here and you do at least apply a little game pressure Jesse it's true I think for them to get back in this one at this point now they need the quarterback to play his best football he's going to have to be good really pre- snap they' been making sure they're in the right looks and he's got to be really good with his decision making he's got to be doubted in because defensively you're giving up points so it's not like you have the luxury for defense playing great the offense is going to have to score and score pretty dang quickly on second down wants to throw it quickly complete he steps out of bounds but he's got enough for a first down and man coverage when they get up in your face they make things hard you want to be able to attack the whole field and get them lean in One Direction and then break outside like you did there nice out route connection nice Chemistry Between quarterback and wide receiver they'll start this one from the 29 on first down and he knock him down after he picks up five out to the 34 it's going to be important this offensive line as able to get a little bit of push just got to give this guy an inch a little crease and he can make yards for halfway there on first down it's second and five they're going to test that run defense to the right here one step wrap two-step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of play into home runs will they keep it on the ground again here on third down quick pass to the left trying to get it to the marker he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression running it to the right and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up that's a really good job by the defense wrapping him up getting him on the ground take away that run game make him onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense after picking up a couple it's second and eight trying play action gets it out quickly and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short gain well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a run this has some makings of a good drive the seventh play brings up a third and four from the gun wants to pass fires into traffic it's it's picked off takes it the other way and they capitalize not only on the pick but on the great return to improve this field position defensive backs have tough jobs I mean you think about whether you play nickel whether you play dime whatever it is you put more DBS on the field it's more speed it's more guys that can cover but they also got to cover that ground but to cover the ground and make the Pick A lot of times you don't see that superb effort by that guy the tied offense rolls onto the field what a good mix of plays keeping that defense off balance last time David and Reese they don't know if it's run or if it's pass they got him right where they wanted this defense doesn't know how to react from getting punched in the mouth on that last drive so in this next Drive David I think you keep running the football because that sets up the play action it sets up the RPO game and then you keep this defense guessing didn't get much done on that first first play of the drive it's second and 11 back to throw it's milro quick strike complete and he's running in the open and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and that's why it's so important to get it to your guys quickly that's just a simple hitch route because the quarterback didn't hesitate he put it on him right away he had space to work after he made the catch was able to make a Defender Miss and set up a nice play for the offense on first and goal let's see if Alabama can get it in the end zone they'll try to get it in with the run and you'll Race it to the house touchdown Crimson TI another rushing touchdown that's now two on the game this offense thought they could come into this one running the ball being the more physical team and they look like it right now ready to try the point after for the extra point and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead quick strike offense on that three Place scoring drive and what a way to finish it with a 9yd touchdown run the kickoff unit about to go to work out of the end zone not nearly as much as he'd hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 the hill topper offense comes onto the field again that last Drive was promising for a while but you just can't mess it up at the end with the pick Jesse no You' got to be able to finish drives especially in this game if you're going to win and David they've got to be able to eliminate the mental mistakes yeah and I don't think you get conservative or play it safe you can trust your guy I think you put the ball right back in his hands and let him do his thing picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's looking to throw can't quite make the connection there might have let him a little too much yeah and I I don't know what happened he didn't look open as it is and the QB's trying to make a play trying to force the ball but at least he threw it where his guy can catch it or nobody could catch it after the second down misfire looking at a third and eight from the gun wants to pass using the quick game and he's going to be just short of the first down it's going to bring up a decision for this coach well it's a nice job tackling on defense I know one guy missed but you saw the effort other guys coming and flying to the football they knew how big that third down was they had to get the stop to give themselves a chance to now get off the field the hill Toppers will send out the unit might have thought he'd want to try to pick up a few yards there but he's content with making the fair catch right around the 35 yd line the inside handoff just sort of a Relentless run getting everything that was available to him and they'll Mark him down at the 40 that's a really nice play it's impressive once it's first down the defense thinks you might be running the football you can line up you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little crease for your running after the productive first down play it's second and six they'll go with a direct snap and you can forget running in the middle against this defense no doubt offense wants to keep running the football to win this game but I'm wondering if they're starting to go to the well too often they got to start showing some new wrinkles here in the second half they've got some work to do on on this third and long from the [Applause] 40 dropping back it's milro looking left fires and picked off oh he was hoping to make something out of that return but they'll have it first down at the 39 why I love the job by the coaching staff there defensively matching the Personnel of the offense putting their dime package out on the field so you bring out the extra defensive back you're anticipating a pass perfect timing to run that personnel and you get the pick here comes the Western Kentucky offense back onto the field trying to get to it and the quarterback is snowed under you got to be impressed with this defense early in this game guys they've got a big lead because they are getting after the quarterback they've already generated multiple sacks they thought coming into this game they could take advantage of this offensive line and that game plan is working to perfection [Music] they've already racked up big sack numbers it's starting to snowball and they are ready to go again looking to throw on second down good timing on the quick out he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down yeah and he runs a quick out route and this is a timing route quarterback has to trust him throw him the football you can tell they throw this a time or two nice job nice success we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break a third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass he looks that one in nicely really confident throw and catch there big pickup and they have a first down man this offense they needed that one in the worst way right they're getting blown out in this game so far and as we get close to halftime they've got to be able to put a good drive together they've got to be able to come away with a touchdown here close the gap a little bit going into the second half going up top on first down feeling some heat and it's incomplete it was wild high and wide on that R up second down after the misfire now on second [Music] down they keep attacking through the air they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker listen I I know that wasn't a huge gain it was positive but I like doing more of that in today's college football I'm just going to try to give my Playmakers a chance to do damage in space away from all the big boys inside and the hill Toppers headed quickly to the line from the gun on third down looking deep down the right side and that one's incomplete they weren't just trying to move the chains they were trying to move the scoreboard instead it's Fourth Down you see it in football all the time right I get a match up on the outside you want to try to play Man coverage I'm going to let my wide receiver try to go up and make a play a lot of times the wide receiver wins not this time fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way make sure that there's not going to be a return on this one balls out of bounds and I think they'll mark it right around the 25 they'll throw it on first down shoots it to the left got his man and an explosive play has him on the move and he gets it all the way to the 48 yard line and what a massive play for the offense not only getting the football across the 50 but they've now put themselves in position to steal a few more points here before the half they'll line up right at the 48 yd line on First and 10 he's looking to throw throw it got him downfield oh look out there he goes touchdown K and once he got away from the knee they had no shot at catching and this offense is clicking another touchdown didn't have to go far for this drive but this offense is doing what they want how they want when they want they'll try to add another to their lead for the extra point and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further this offense himself on going after you and they did with that long touchdown pass to finish off a two-play drive kickoff team has the ball teed up and they're about ready to go on the move from inside is five and good work by the coverage team to knock down the return mat time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half from the shotgun now here's an inside GI a run up the middle is stuck for no game game no on the that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with a halftime update fellas you've been calling a great one today from there in Tuscaloosa and it' be easy to say these two offenses are glad we've hit halftime based on their respective performances it would also be accurate turnovers and sacks have told the story so far and you got to believe the play calling has been the issue right time to shred those game plans and just get back to basics and with that let's send it back to the guys in [Music] [Applause] ttwn the hill Toppers will kick it off to start the second half he'll start the return inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 here comes that Alabama offense they'll open the second half on the ground crosses the 30 he's got a lan he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down and obviously this offense has had their way getting the huge lead and now when you know it's a running situation later in the ball games you're still getting pounded this defense has to step up at some point and be a lot more physical D coordinators down the road that have to play this offense man they're going to have nightmares because this unit has so much speed so much skill at running back receiver tight end quarterback making good decisions it is so tough trying to stop them and prevent explosive plays halfway there on first down it's second and five grab behind the line it's apprentis and good coverage by the defense just a short game I love this defense's ability to fight off blocks and rally to the football they do such a great job pursuing that wide receiver screen to only allow a minimal gain and no first down in the dead center of the field as they try to convert this third and short direct snap they'll move the chains good execution on third down they've got it at the 41 this offense all game longine has been running really well and I'm really impressed by how well they've recruited at the running back position they've got some Dynamic players coming into the game at different points spelling each other keeping each other fresh and they're hurting this defense this Alabama offense is clicking they're set up with another first down right back to the well all the way down to the 25 yd line they move the sticks it's first down another good run man he has been picking up yards in bunches today Jesse showing off all the skills and he's showing no signs of slowing down David this guy just gets better as the game goes on he is a beast the tide with the first and 10 he's going to pass and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first [Music] down second down coming up the give to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well this guy's been eating them alive all game long finally though David you wonder if the defense has been able to make some adjustments find something positive to help slow this guy down hey baby steps right that's a tackle for a loss I know he's got over a hundo on the game but this defense is definitely going to have to be more aggressive commit more guys to stopping that bad man back to throw it's milroad a strike downfield defense makes a stop but the chains move in it's first and goal from the a I really like this offense staying aggressive they were in field goal range but nice job on third down forget that let's go get the first down let's throw the football nice read nice catch now set up with a first and goal situation turning to the running game on first and goal draged down at the six after a pick up of two it's now second and go [Music] now on second and goal the run up the middle looking for the score and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that it's looking like they're going to have to throw this one in now on third down David and you know the execution just has to be spot on timing especially at the quarterback position and thinking about the defense they're aggressive in these situations they're going to play man they're going to play uptight on you so I know that now how do I counter punch and attack this defense touchdown B and the route is on and this receiver is on fire he's got all the skills that you look for in a big time Target that's already his second touchdown of the game lining up to tack one more onto that lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead they marched 79 yds on the drive and he got into the house from the sixth to finish it lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive looks like he's going to try to return it didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Hill topper offense comes onto the field again out of the gun the running back has it he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple it's been that kind of day for this offense right it seems like anything they're dialing up just simply isn't working but at this point David I don't know if it's even worth trying to run the ball probably not you're getting destroyed right now nothing has gone your way and when you're down this much I I think the running game is used sporadically not as a staple let's throw this football around and see what can happen he's dropped by behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three third down goodness that is the way you blow up a play quick fast and in a hurry hair on fire caused to wreck that had to be a blown assignment they're about to wear this punter out he's already been out four times staring at a fifth if they can't move the chains on Third and long hoping to throw beyond the sticks and that ball is picked off God room on the return the 20 and what a return as he takes it back to the eight he looked as if he thought he had it all the way and this junior makes a play Third in Africa is extremely difficult when I know it's a passing situation I get to rush the passer and pin my ears back I get to put more DBS on the field to drop back and really play pass coverage you can tell the offense was trying to force it trying to get that first down makes the big mistake and how about this you get to start a drive with a first and goal touchdown Alabama and the punishment has been extended well this offense has been physical they came out in this game with a lot of Pride and an ability up front and the belief that they can block people and get it done they are dominating this defense three rushing touchdowns now in the game getting set for the point after on for the extra point and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead that's exactly what you want to do when you have that type of field position strike quickly and they did one play and they put it on the board almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown on the run from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 here comes the Western Kentucky offense back onto the field they'll try it over the left side slams into the pile he'll get one to the 17 I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear lot football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw finds his tight end they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground cover pick up the first well you hear all the time that the tight end's the QB's best friend you saw a perfect example of it on that l last play right second down you need to pick up some positive yards to keep this third down manageable really nice job of executing there passing game very effective on second down what about here on third from the gun wants to pass going to throw it to the right he's got his man really good job to pick up a chunk of yardage and get it out to the 39 yd line and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down they'll run it out of the shotgun and a decent gain there before the defense makes the stop great offenses always stay ahead of the chance that run right there now you're in a good position it's not second and long it's not third and long now it's the whole playbooks open the defense really has to h a run and as on the next SN halfway there on first down it's second and five he's looking to throw he makes the connection they get him on the ground but it's a first down yeah when you run those drag routes it just takes a little bit of knowhow and when I say that the receivers got to understand find Space my quarterback's going to find me he's looking for that space at the same time nice throw nice catch way to get the first down and the hill Toppers look to keep this drive humming wide receiver shows motion headed for the corner on the Jet Sweep and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up great job by the defense there slowing down that Jet Sweep and a big key was the defensive end containing the play forcing the receiver to cut back inside to where all the traffic was and here comes play number six of the drive on the move it's young he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three yeah when you get penetration by that defense right away and there's no way to cut at all for that back he gets destroyed right away no way that play was going to be successful way too much penetration if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum pre- snap motion quarterback trying to get a read and and I don't think they got it snapped before the play clock ran out delay of game offense so frustrating to see an offense lose track of the play clock and pick up a penalty like that on Third and long he'll have to turn it loose deep right through his hands he had a touchdown and just didn't look the ball in it'll be fourth down this is a point where you just got to be able to focus the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch youve got to be able to make that play the hill Toppers will bring the punt team onto the field they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today and the ball will bounce at the four and find its way into the end zone for a Touchback here comes the offense on first down give to the running back not much there picks up a couple to the 22 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first after picking up a couple at second and eight looking downfield it's milro they're working that left side he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short well it's a nice job too the quarterback after the play fake there getting his eyes down the field he had to get that to his tight end quickly knowing he wasn't going to have a lot of space to run with after the catch you got to think they'll try to muscle their way forward on Third and short from the 29 they'll try to pick it up on the ground he'll make a play on third down he's got enough for the first as they mark it at the 32 that is how done on third down and short and no doubt about it an easy hole to get through and clearly get the first down if you really want to simplify football the low man wins that time the offense got the better of the D easily pick that up got it behind the line it's Miller they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down and that's why you're the offensive coordinator you've got to find his many ways as possible to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so Dynamic when he has the ball in his hands you saw it right [Applause] there so Alabama takes the lead into the quarter break this has been a complete obliteration so far as the third quarter stats will show [Music] you so what will the beat down continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the fourth they'll give it to the back able to SC three yds out of that one somehow it's second and seven that small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven they'll keep it on the ground runs through the tackle how about the patience from this sophomore to hunt that green grass man this offense would really like to lean on this guy in the fourth quarter right they've got the lead and you just saw his ability there breaking a tackle he looks like he's getting stronger as the game goes on I'd expect him to get a few more carries here before this game's over power football with the Run he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the runs coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one they'll run the counter they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one you haven't seen that happen too often tonight taking a loss on a run this guy's been special he's been finding ways to get into the second level of this defense and because of his talent and ability that's a big reason why they've got the lead right now you know that's not going to deter them that last play they're going to keep handing him the football on the ground with the counter and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop the 35 yd line offense facing fourth [Applause] down it's wise not to be too greedy and they'll go ahead and send out the field goal unit he's going to reach for a long one a 52 yd attempt it's good and that'll add three more to a lead that is already way out of hand well that kid just showed off his hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with [Music] [Music] ease they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work and he takes this from inside inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the hill topper offense comes onto the field again they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be he's got it on the left and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play the offense has struggled they're not going to win this game but trust me this coaching staff is still trying to find things to build off of for next week and after an explosive play like that maybe they can generate just a little bit of momentum and gain a little bit of confidence that they can keep coaching up heading into their next game looking to go up top on first down fires to the Wi out and he throws another interception his third of the N got some room to run touchdown Crimson TI how about that D coming up with a play like that this you didn't think it could any worse right you thought this game's over as it is anyways offense still throwing the football still trying to make plays and the defense just continues to pour it on gets the pick makes its way all the way to the endzone they'll try to add another to their lead and with that extra point the lead remains in the gargantuan category they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six and he's going to bring it out of the end zone rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 they'll throw it on first down makes the catch it's Smith a seven yd pickup it'll be second and three [Music] [Music] he's looking to throw got a man it's young still running at the 40 and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one and the best thing about this the offense can't worry about the scoreboard just keep trying to make plays like that Jesse I know a lot of people in this Stadium probably feel like this game is over maybe it's been over for a while or e but don't tell that to this quarterback and his teammates they're still out there scrapping and clawing trying to find his man on first down trying to make magic with his feet and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage you can clearly tell that he wanted to throw the football and he wanted to go through the air and make a big play defense does a great job coring him getting some pressure and most importantly getting him on the the ground he wants to pass it on second down got his man on the right he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down caugh by theer Third Down coming now on third down for this offense from the gun wants to pass makes his connection he gets the job done on third down they move the chains it's at the 37 really nice job there by the quarterback understanding that it's Zone coverage on third down you're going to have to find someone working into a soft spot get the ball out of your hands quickly make an accurate throw and pick up the first well done comes out throwing on first down can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down and it's just been that kind of day for this quarterback in this offense guys they have never been able to get into a rhythm throwing the football timing's been off accuracy hasn't been great we've seen some drops just not in sync and that's why they find themselves trailing by a lot right here late in game caught in the back field it's Johnson the second down pass the out picks up six it's third down this has the makings of a good drive the seventh play brings up a third and four from the gun wants to pass they're bringing heat under heat he gets rid of it and they wanted it all on third down with now dealing with fourth down the offense came into this game knowing that for them to win they were going to have to make some big plays throwing the football that just has not been the case here in the fourth quarter they've been held to less than 200 passing yards that's really the story of the game now on fourth down they'll settle for a field goal try never a doubt for this big-footed guy 49 yd field goal is good and you just sort of wonder if that's some kind moral Victory from the head coach we are not going to get shut out in front of all these eyeballs we're just going to put three points up on the board as a player I used to absolutely hate that if I was on the losing team because you're just trying to save face I want to go down and try and score a touchdown I know that the chances aren't great but let me go out there and [Applause] compete so they're lineing in up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down here he comes from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the tied offense rolls onto the field man how comforting is it to know that even if your offense stalls out a little Jessie that field goal kicker can knock it in from a long way out well he's one of the best in the country be no doubt but this defense would like him and prefer for him to kick an extra point on this drive and to do that David they've got to have more Rhythm on offense yeah create some more Rhythm create some more explosive plays and maybe some more balance and listen it's nice to have that weapon and kick long field goals if you kick too many field goals you don't get very many W's just a short pass to the tight end finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down and that's why QBs love their tight ends so much right especially when they're athletic because they make short throws turn into long gains because of his ability after the catch it's so unique and special he is dominant in this offense offense lines up for a first and 10 from the 43 from the gun they'll try the middle and he'll find enough Running Room to get it just short of Midfield at the 49 I know the passing game sells and the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards a pop on the ground but it will be very successful 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four they'll go right back to the run a strong tackle and wrap up from the [Music] junior a third down try for the offense they'll keep it on the ground they want this clock to move and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play big reason why his team has the lead right now late is because of his performance running the football well over 100 yards in this game they knew that they were going to have to really put a lot of pressure on him he'd have to shoulder the low and he has delivered for his offense all game long looking for a physical attack from the gun and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end what a run great speed great vision elusiveness and David he's tackle down close to the goal line yeah and this offense when you can run the football like this man you will have success especially in the Red Zone trying to get touchdowns this defense might be reeling after those last two and now facing first and [Applause] goal they'll try to get it in with the Run forges ahead for one to the 8 yd line and a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those defensive backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses too right it's not just D linan and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DBS that are willing to not just cover but tackle backs in the open field defense rose up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming he worked his way ever closer all the way down to the one yd line and this is exactly where you're going to be as an offensive coord like when you've got the lead late in the football game just run the football eat the clock man they put a good day together they they've had a they've had their way with this defense a lot of positive things to point to this is one of those weeks when you watch tape it's going to be really fun to watch it not like when you get beat up a lot of big plays from this offense touchdown TI and the beat down has ensued points points and more points this offense has had their way they just keep their foot on the gas keep putting up points keep putting up touchdowns and you know what this is one of those stats days you look back and you're like that guy had 12 touchdowns on the year Well four or five of them might have been in this [Applause] game winding up to add another kicker is on for the extra point and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further so it's a 77 yd touchdown drive and they capped it off with a one yd pun about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside as five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 here comes the Western Kentucky offense back onto the field this has been a really disappointing performance David no question about that but they can find some positive yeah and every time you watch the tape you know Jesse coaches are pointing out look at this this was open if we' had just ran the details to the right route hung on to the football little things can make a big difference yeah that's why they call it a game of inches David but I'll say this if you're on offense don't go on social media this week it ain't going to be pretty after this performance you've got to lock in you got to take the week of practice very and they got him he'll get him down for the sack the defense puts the exclamation point on the day they have had a wonderful day man doing everything great just you could tell they were dialed into what was going on and now just throw another sack in the equation hitting the quarterback being disrupted they've been all over the field second down now after the sack he's looking to throw unloads to the wide out and it's an incomplete pass on the Deep shot but the flag is down let's check the call and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air he simply can't do it and the referee's caught it he'll come out throwing on first down gets it out fast excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down hey I'll tell you what that slot receiver he may not be the biggest receiver in the world but he is Shifty and he runs really good routes you saw it on that play and the hill Toppers come to the line with a fresh set of downs wants to throw on first down and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense [Applause] tonight final hour [Music] [Music] [Music]
