recently cystic fibrosis Canada held their annual walk to make cystic fibrosis history it's a 3 km walk and the proceeds go towards making CF well history there was food there was prizes there was good weather our friends from Carstar were there and so were producers Joel great and Briden jessum here's that [Music] story today is the walk to meystic fibrosis history across Canada we're here at the Dartmouth Crossing for the Dartmouth walk and it's our 20th anniversary syic fibrosis is a is a charity that carar started to uh support back in 1995 U when one of our franchise's granddaughter uh was diagnosed with CF and um he came to the the owner and said we want to raise some money so we've been doing that consistently since um and and uh it's it's a great cause it's the uh the disease is terrible so we want to see if we can end it um to date we've raised almost $5 million for for subscri through through charity events and uh corporate donations what we have over 40 walks across the country today um in local communities from east to west our uh our goal in Dartmouth today is raised $60,000 for the SEF Community one of our franchisees owners car is a franchise company franchise collision centers um so one of our franchises came to the owner of kar the corporation um and uh said let's raise some money and Sam ranty our our owner at the time he uh he was all for it he said let's go and he took the ball and we ran with it and we've been running with it ever since yeah we've made so much progress in the 20 years of the walk to meystic fibrosis history not only just through the walk but through CF cada 60 years as an organization we're here to ensure that no one's left behind and that everyone all people living with CF have the treatment resources that you need to live longer healthier lives they do this once a year right across the country um and to raise funds obviously to uh to to fight the disease um so very shortly you'll see a whole lot of kids and teams and all that stuff show up here um to uh to support this uh after after the walk is done I believe the walk starts at noon uh when the walk is completed they come back and they've got a they've got free lunch and and uh everybody's everybody has a great day and we're blessed with a with a beautiful day weatherwise we are just so lucky we have such a passionate and dedicated group of Walkers here um they come out year after year surpassing their fundraising to totals um compared to other walks across the country it's a little bit smaller but they come out and they make sure the impact is being made for the CF Community uh and that we're going further and fundraising and advocacy and everything uh to provide longer and healthier lives so I'm thankful for for you guys to to uh to do this for us um sh shed a little light on this and uh and get uh may maybe raise a few extra dollars so go buy your 50/50 [Music] tickets donations from the walk are still being accepted up until August the 31st to find out how you can support visit walk. cystic fibrosis.am [Music]
