Bonjour, bonjour, bonjour from Paris,
the capital city of France. Get ready for 11 days of sports in action
across 22 different sports. Now ParalympicsGB will be represented
by 215 Para athletes. All hoping, no doubt, to get their hands
on a medal. Now before the world's best Para athletes get the chance
to showcase what they can do, tonight's opening
ceremony will be taking place, which will officially open the 2024
Paralympic Games here in Paris. Though it announced yesterday that Terry Bywater, who plays wheelchair
basketball, and Lucy Shuker, will be the official flag bearers for ParalympicsGB
at tonight's opening ceremony. I caught up with them yesterday
to find out how they’re feeling about it. Congratulations. How does it feel to be the flag bearer
for Great Britain? Yeah, I keep pinching myself. It seems crazy right now. It's all just a dream I'm in this ball coming to my seventh games. Obviously, being nominated to be flag
bearer was a dream come true. And then obviously yesterday,
finding out that I'm actually going to be carrying the flag in the biggest
sporting event in the world. Yeah, it’s just a dream. Yeah, I was blown away. It's a huge honour. And yeah, so proud. You're representing
and bringing out ParalympicsGB, leading them out, as you know,
in one of the biggest sporting, you know, moments or events
in a four year cycle. So me and Lucy
will be carrying that flag in front of millions
and millions of people. And not only that, in front of my family,
in front of my friends and yeah, it's, super exciting.
Of course we will be bringing you all the glitz
and glamour of tonight's opening ceremony tomorrow
morning on Newsround from around 7:40. But you don't have to wait until then to find out more things
about this year's Paralympic Games. If you take a wee trip
to the Newsround website, you'll see a full guide to the games
and find out who the ones
who are the ones to watch this year.
