the picture that blew up do you ever think about it or how often do you sort of think about the platform that you have and how many people fans kids kind of look up to you and care what you think about stuff yeah I mean in a way I feel like I I as a football player in general um definitely people and kids look up to us and we're role models and so you know what if it takes somebody an extra year to accomplish something I think that kind of gives me kind of encouragement where it's like hey you know what if it takes an extra year some things don't happen fast you know what I mean so that can kind of be my kind of give to society in a way you know what I mean I'm down for it but is that is that a cool thing just in general just to to have that not just with maybe taking longer but just the the platform in general that that people look up to yeah I mean obviously you know quarterback of a power five program people are going to look up to so try to be the best role model I can um and give and be the best example I can be have you thought about this was your last college c yeah oh yeah for sure yeah I mean know we definitely do um this going to be a lot of first last kind of coming on it's my first my last First Media you know what I mean um you know so you think of it there but uh I don't know I mean you can't kind of look back into it I'm just kind of excited for what's going forth but I mean it's hard not to South Dakota State what have you seen of them on T I mean we're everyone's talking about it 29 in a row back toback national champions um they have a winning culture for a reason people say Hey you know we got a lot of guys leave it but I think um they're a really good team they're disciplined they know what to do they're never um in the wrong spot so we're we going to have to be um extremely disciplined and and take it to them seven years as a player college is there anything you haven't seen and and and can how can that help the team from that yeah you know we've seen a lot been a part of a lot been a part of a lot of good teams so I think kind of my time at Michigan um I saw what championship football looks like what college football playoff caliber teams look like and then on some on the flip side of some Texas Tech where we didn't make a bow game for three years so I've seen what kind of bad culture looks like in a way and how and how to work out of that so just you could say experience but all the life lessons that I've learned and seen I you could say I've seen a lot almost all you can see in college football but there will be more this season that I probably couldn't could imagine to prepare for it all se but when you got as many guys coming back offense and defense did you come into the camp looking for things and places yeah definitely I think we started the year not looking that was our one of our first meetings as a unit was just the complacency right there was a a good analogy coach gave us coach dun talked about the Iowa State team with Barack p and all those guys they won the uh Fiesta Bowl against Oregon or they went 11 wins or something like that everybody came back and then they won six games after that right so I think maybe they got a little bit of complacency so from the first day in January we've been looking at looking at it and stomping it out okay so this close to your first game of your last season write the ending did you have the ending written in your mind yeah everything's happens twice once in your mind and then in real life I definitely believe that yeah no big 12 championship for sure um and make make a run in the culture ball playoff and did going last year back to Houston after you played there to watch the national champ game what did that do for you we could be here you know I I I think there was no doubt we could be there especially this year in the talent that we have and the talent that I've seen that I know is on that team um that we can compete with anybody how has Gavin frea looked so far really good yeah yeah yeah no he's been uh we call him G freaky I mean he's a freak athlete uh his change of Direction his speed um I think he is going to definitely surprise some people on Saturdays when he get the ball in say he's electric so try to find different ways kind of as BP you know he can kind of do all the things that BP can um so we won't have to rely on 80 as much so we can kind of keep in for the long stretch of the season so to kind of have a one-w punch like that uh been pretty good he's done really well
