[Music] this week's Dennis Baker State Farm scholar artist of the week is Darren Chan Darren is a senior at mckin Boyd High School and he plays cello in the orchestra he is a 4-year All Region musician and he has earned all state three years in a row Darren has performed at the honor recital multiple times and in 2022 he was ranked number 17 in the state Darren also plays cello with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Darren currently ranks fourth in his class with a 5.55 GPA and he has taken 16 AP classes he is an active member of the National Honor Society as well as the photography club computer science club and academic UIL in his free time Darren volunteers for Dallas hope Charities and he works at Fang shop he mentors at elementary coding club and he is president of a nonprofit called Data Ace after graduation Darren plans to major in computer science his top college choices include UT Austin Carnegie melon UC Berkeley and the University of Illinois at Urbana champagne that's Darren Chan this week's Dennis Baker State Farm scholar artist of the week [Music]
