Braves Fans Whining About Phillies Strength of Schedule

going talking about the the strength of schedule thing look I I think if if as a Phillies fan you don't acknowledge the fact that the Phillies have had a decently favorable schedule so far in terms of the teams that they've played then that's a little disingenuous because with the Phillies have had an had an easier schedule in terms of the teams that they've had to play so far now they haven't had an easy schedule that they haven't had many off days because of this series in London coming up next month they've had to stack more games early in the season than other teams but that being said I I think I don't think it's unreasonable to look at what the Phillies have done and say has it been aided a little bit probably by a favorable schedule sure that and that's and that's fine you know and I I I think if if people want to say like they're not going to play 700 baseball all year when their schedule gets harder well no duh of course they're not going to play 700 baseball while that once the schedule gets a little bit harder that's not the bar we're setting here what's happening though is while they have the easy schedule they are playing 700 baseball so that when the schedule gets a little bit tougher and the the winning percentage comes down a little bit you've already given yourself so much cushion and so much runway here to start off the 2024 season so I mean both things can be true yes the Phillies have benefited from the easy schedule and they have gen they have run up this record of 34 and 14 they're 20 games over 500 Before Memorial Day which is absolutely insane and they've done it thankfully because they haven't played a ton of great teams but you know as we've also said there's just not a lot of great teams in baseball right now why do we have to reestablish this every year that that what's happening now will not be what's happening later for anybody because it is a long season and nothing in baseball lasts including not just like oh the Phillies success this year but also guess what Braves eventually your run of of first place titles ends I'm not even saying it's definitely this year that it ends eventually it ends it does doesn't matter if it's the Phillies Golden Era of years or the Braves Golden Era of like 14 years of winning the division in which they only won the world series Once uh this never lasts that's the whole point it's why it's a hot streak or a slump or you know all these other terms that just indicate there is a Time stoppage for whatever is happening currently in baseball I mean that's that's just how it works and we got to reestablish that every year well well the other shoe's going to drop eventually yeah it is well they can't play 700 ball all the time that's correct that's why it's so good that they're doing it now why why do we have to and it doesn't Deli and it doesn't delegitimize what they're doing right now like you can acknowledge that the schedule has been a little bit easier Liz but it doesn't delegitimize what the the record the Phillies have put up so far and that's that's the difference like you don't delegitimize the record because of the schedule certainly it's a factor though it is but like I don't understand criticizing the Phillies for playing the schedule they've been getting like it's like it's pointless I'm sorry I don't mean to cut you off but that's not what they're doing they're just saying I'm looking at something I don't like and I refuse to admit it's happening for exactly the reason it's happening the Braves aren't playing that well and the Phillies are playing really well they just don't want to admit that so they turn to the schedule and we've been talking about it for weeks because of that sorry I didn't mean to cut you off but like that's just they're not do we're talking about a a a having like a genuine conversation about the schedule and they're just not doing that it's not genous yeah it's not genuine I mean in looking at the schedule like they have some tough spells coming up but again it's not their fault that some of the teams in baseball suck and they're playing them at a certain time of the year like you can't that's just not an argument I I'm frustrated by it to no end because it's the only one they have and finding out I'm sorry finding out that the Braves announcers the Braves are making excuses for Ronald aunia so think a years does need excuses he's an awesome baseball player he doesn't need excuses you know he's having a bad year I bet don't cover you don't need to cover for him I mean it's crazy just admit it just admit it that's one thing that they seem to have the biggest problem doing which is admitting that their team is not perfect and there's something needs to be worked on they they can't do it
