Trending searches: when does beetlejuice 2 come out
It's hard to believe that 36 years have passed
since the first part of "Beetlejuice" came out. That's a long time to forget the story, the
actors, and the feelings from watching it. But no, fans of this scary comedy have been waiting and
are happy that the project finally happened. What will the new movie be about? The movie
starts with a sad event - Lydia's dad has died. And three generations of the Deetz family
go back to the old house in Winter River. Everything is still calm here, and Beetlejuice
still lives in the attic, who only needs to be called three times. Lydia is now a mom herself.
And her daughter Astrid (Ortega) is just like her at the same age. She finds the model of
the town in the attic and calls Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). Who, of course, will cause
trouble once he gets out of the afterlife. And now Lydia and her stepmom Delia
(Catherine O'Hara), with the help of Astrid, will have to figure out how to get rid of the
annoying and dangerous guy in the striped suit. While the second part hasn't come out yet, it's a
great reason to watch the first one again. And if you haven't seen it yet - do it for the first
time. Just don't be surprised by the strange, even funny, special effects. The movie had
a small budget, so the director came up with this "trick" - it was all planned. Although
36 years ago, we shouldn't have expected something that would amaze us today. This
movie is about something else. The feeling is important here. It's no surprise that the
movie won an Oscar for Best Makeup in 1989. At first, the movie was supposed to
have different stars. For example, instead of Keaton, Beetlejuice was supposed to
be played by Sammy Davis Jr. But the producer suggested looking at Michael, and he got the
role that became famous. And Delia Deetz was supposed to be played by Anjelica Huston
- the amazing Morticia Addams from another well-known movie. It goes without saying that
many famous actresses of those years tried out for the role of Lydia. Among them were Molly
Ringwald, Brooke Shields, and Jennifer Connelly. By the way, do you know the real name of the mean
but funny ghost who lives in all times and none at the same time? His name is Betelgeuse - like the
name of the bright red star in the constellation Orion. The name is written as Betelgeuse and
said as Beetlejuice. This made it much easier for the ghost when he explained to Lydia how
to call him - by saying his name three times. A well-known fact: the movie lasts 92 minutes, and Keaton's character appears for a total of
17.5 minutes. Moreover, we first see him only at the 25th minute. And yet he is one of the
most recognizable characters; it's his movie. And finally, Betelgeuse was originally supposed
to be a cruel demon who would kill the whole family without thinking. And his look was planned
quite differently. But Burton gave Keaton complete freedom to create, who used the source material -
Chop Top from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 - for his character. He was supposed to be destroyed
during the exorcism session. And Lydia was to meet a bad fate - dying in a fire and joining
the Maitlands as a ghost. But Burton invited two writers, asking them to remove the cruelty and
sadness (as much as possible) and add comedy. Michael Keaton loves this movie and
considers the role important. Therefore, he gladly agreed to return to it after so much
time. And the whole cast involved in the first part signed the contract almost immediately. Well,
they probably managed to discuss the payments. Have you seen the first part of "Beetlejuice"?
How did you like the movie? Do you think it will be possible to make an equally
atmospheric movie the second time, or will it be another sequel
that shouldn't have been made?
