hey everybody Charles coun aka the shade TR Pro nice rainy day here in Florida but people I see these people talk about you know how to fix over the top first before you can fix something you got to know what causes over the top the biggest problem with over the toop and why over the top is caused from this simple thing here remember I said the video I said that uh if you raise your arms and rotate your hips no matter what you do the arms are not going to come down that the arms in a sense you know you have to manually control the arms coming up and coming down and then as they come down the body reacts to it and ases so here's what's happening in the DOL swing many out there are teaching that you know and it's an old way of teaching and the thought is is when you get to the top of the DOL Wing you got to turn and clear the left hip that's getting to the to the back of your foot something that's I'm I'm seeing that's happening with Scotty schiffler I know Scotty shler got the kick back on the foot but what's happening when he gets to the down when he's coming down and which usually caus that two two-way Miss with him is that he's getting back on this left this left heel and all of a sudden now his foot's rolling and now he's back here and now he's basically he has nothing nothing no control and everything is just whipping and it's and it leads to a lot of inconsistency he would be better off that when that bowling foot as I call it go back that the energy goes forward and stay a little bit on the ground like Mo Norman said you you know when I come through the ball you can't see the bottom of my feet and that action is what Scotty does when he plays his best gol from what I've seen so what is over the top over the top is when the club is kind of thrown out cast out whatever they want to call it and how you do it but let me show you the actual true cause and effect when you take this lead hip and I'm going to do it right here and I'm going to do nothing else when you take this lead hip and you turn this lead hip out towards the heel because if you turn this hip you're going to go towards the heel if you turn that hip your body is going to turn and if your body turns out your right side's going to come out and then all of a sudden the club is going to come over and I I I call it ala over the top and as this is going to come around I did a video called the screen door effect that speaks of that so then all of a sudden now then you'll hear them say well what you do you can't use the right arm you can't use the right arm well the right arm is the only one that's behind the golf ball so then what they tell you to do is they say well what you got to do is you got to get up here with this left with your left arm and then you got to turn the hip and then you got to get this here so the hip separates core stays back arm gets pressed against the side and that leads to other confusion because here's why people because the shoulder girdle is a separate entity from the body cavity it does not make a difference what you do or which arm that you use whether it's one arm two arm both arm whatever it is anytime that you turn the lead hip out of the way the body cavity is going to go out you all heard me mentioned before upper body middle body lower body upper body being the shoulder girdle middle body being from the first rib all the way to the top of the knees lower body being from the top of the uh leg bone all the way down to the feet so anytime that I get up here no matter what if I turn this lead hip out of the way and as to try to clear it out of the way so I can get on this path then actually I what I'm doing is actually turning the right side into the into the path and it say but if I turn that no matter what the body cavity is going to come out uh and as you know know it by my middle body it doesn't make a difference it's going to come out no matter if I use my left arm it's going to come out as well any other way or whatever I got to make some kind of compensation believe it or not in this Essence actually to keep the trail side to where I can go boom and the easiest way to keep the trail side back is just do exactly what I talked about you know in my thing where I said how the feet work and I know there are people who are critical and say something when I put this post up about uh you know the actions of the feet one going forward one going back well people at I mean sometime people just want to be critical cuz let me show you exactly the action I spoke of when you make one foot forward one foot back towards the energy guess what it's no different than people who put their foot forward like this and back like this to close or or restrict the overturning of the hips all I'm doing because I know what the initial move because there eyes in front of our head the initial move of the body when I go to walk is that the energy goes forward and the foot goes back now if you look at a one let me just throw some names out there Sam sne little bit of what we call a closed stance energy forward energy back Ben Hogan energy forward energy back mon Norman energy forward energy back I can go on down the list of so many who basically to restrict the over turning of the hips to stop that big block in essence this is what they did and created so I didn't I'm not Reinventing the wheel what I'm just doing is giving you a more simpler way to be able to stand there so you don't have to sit like this because sometime this can lead to its own problems and this definitely going to lead to some problems I'm just showing you how to be able to make the move and it comes from the top down to make the move to where you can get your feet in a sense to feel like you're mov moving in place that's all I'm making the Simplicity of it so people be careful for what what you listen to because a lot of times people really not understanding you know exactly what the body is truly doing so what they're trying to do is trying to make compensations because they haven't figured out another way in a sense they're so deep into the game of explaining to their students that you got to turn the left hip that they're so far gone they got to go back and say hey they can't go back and say don't turn your hips Le hip out anymore because all of a sudden now it looks bad as on you as a teacher which me I don't care if I make a mistake I'm going come back and tell you hey this is why I did it so the essence of it is so now when you turn this left hip out of the way now all a sudden you making compensations why now you making a grip now you're doing this now you do this now you turn your that keep your head back move here turn this right here slide this foot back put a little more weight on this side right here put a little bit more weight on this side right here and said whatever move the ball forward move the ball back it's an Ever ending battle trying to figure out something that's so simple in a sense because there is an actual cause and effect for everything that we do with our body in the gowing there ain't nothing made up you know it is what it is and then and and sometimes when you make things simple and see the Simplicity in things then there really is I told some people today I said you know when we were talking about fundamentals and and people will say you know oh there's this fundamental one guy had the nerve to say that oh the only fundamental that matters is that you're standing to the side of the ball well I can turn around this way and hit a golf ball you all have seen plenty people do it and that's but look as I've said in several videos and I've actually added something to it because I've added to one part it was the most important which is the takeaway how do you get that club started that's the most important thing in the golf swing and as I said the most important fundamentals in the golf swing in itself or whatever and first what is a fundamental something is a fundamental that that balance itself out from back in the days of Charles Blair McDonald all the way up to Scotty schiffler now even as far as the average everyday player a fundamental should be conducive to any and everyone before they even take a golf club back it ain't got nothing to do with your skill level that's what a fundamental is and should be in golf there are three fundamentals there are two in itself uh for your setup and then there's an absolute one to start the golf swing the number one thing is is you hold the golf club in your hand you've got to hold it in your hand it doesn't matter what your grip is you hold the golf club in your hand and then all of a sudden your feet touch the ground you always got to have your feet touching the ground or your solid surface I know people say say well you know there's people in wheelchairs and this and that so it's got to be exceptions well that wheelchair become the the foundation or your base when you're in there so and the third fundamental that no matter from a hundred years ago when the swing was made to A Thousand Years and when the as the swing continues to start the golf swing no matter what no matter what your grip look like no matter what your setup look like no matter what your mama made for breakfast your daddy made for dinner no matter who the teacher is and where he came from no matter if God came down here and took a lesson and wanted to learn a little bit about top down in a sense to strike the golf ball that Golf Club must leave from the ground up into the air now how you figure out to do it with all your fanciness that whatever what position you in those are not absolute those are individual your thinking your own idiosyncracies or whatever you feel but it does not matter those are secondary moves the primary move in that is to understand that that club must go up in the air and if it goes up in the air and we know it has to come down there ain't a whole lot you can do to bring it down because gravity wants to bring it down as I said the golf club wants to get hit the golf ball often too many times people get in the way of it so people remember those are the three fundamentals that matter remember that a fundamental is something that must be conducive to each and everyone regardless of your skill level number one the golf club is held in the hands not how you grip it but it's held in your hands number two the feet touch the ground plain and simple that's how you'll build your setup you'll do all that but it doesn't matter your feet touch the ground and the third which is the actionable one which is still to me the absolute most important because it's what get everything kicking and started you must get that club to raise from the ground up into the air and it's just that simple so remember the hip turns lead hip turning out going towards the hill is what causes over the top when the hip goes back that's what allows you when you go top down it makes the the trail hip goes back creating a slot for you to drop the club in and as I said before if you take a look at here if I took this club right here and if I turn this representing the lead hip this representing the trail hip if I pull this back that has no other choice but to go out and it's no different with your pelvis girlle it's all the same so people like I said I hope you enjoy that I said I'm going continue to keep pushing this knowledge hey I listen and I'm I'm going be real with you on here you know when I wrote top down I wrote top down just trying to find out was there something different because as I said before I never seen anybody compare ground up to anything they was just like okay it's from the ground up and that's it but until I wrote top down to give it some comparison which I think a lot of people should applaud that in a sense because after all all we're doing is trying to create uh and make the best information possible you know some people like apples some people like oranges but arguing me and trying to debate me to tell me what I don't know that's not going to work and I'm going defend and I'm protect what it is that I know because I can flat out hit a golf ball and I do play this game pretty Dar on well and I've got have so a matter of fact I'm going to tell you what I am a little surprised at all the success that I'm having because why I got so many people that keep dming me teachers and everything keep dming me keep asking me questions in essence you know it's like Charles you know the you know about this top down you know I get that I understand it and the one that always seems to get them is that if you live your arms up in the air and you turn your hips or whatever your arms are not going to come down there's nothing in the lower body anatomically whatsoever is going to make the arms come down and what's so beautiful about it which makes sense why the arms have to be manual because every time we step on a Terrain it's always different so I may need my arm to do a little bit of this a little bit of that sometime I might need it to come over the top in a sense and if I need it to come over the top guess what I know how to move my lead here to make it do it so sometime once you learn how to do something learn the causes and effects or whatever then all of a sudden now it becomes not a not a hindrance in your swing but it also can turn into a weapon there's a good friend of mine named Scott Perry who was the 2023 West Virginia uh silver senior Champion he played in 16 events he won 10 of those he finished uh second three times and he finished third three three times and he like I said he won play of the year I used to have the day back in the day when I was a big old hip spinner that I actually you know I mean I hit the ball off the hle quite a bit and so what I did I said how am I going to fix this well like the movie uh uh uh something the Lord made it was a scene in there it's like before you can fix the problem first you have to recreate the conditions and then once you create the conditions then all a sudden the problem become pretty simple to fix so what did I do to learn how to not hit the lateral shots I taught myself how to hit them and Scott Perry will tell you you know he's from La Ohio he will tell you that he saw me actually hit a shake shot on purpose to get myself between these trees because it was the only shot that I I had and Scott said it was the greatest shot that he's ever seen and it probably be the greatest shot he's ever will see because who's going to have the balls to be able to call that especially in the heat of battle especially the way he and I used to go at it now you can get in touch with Scott Perry If you think I'm lying then I'm dying cuz he going to tell you exactly and you know and I and hey I got down that's what I do so anyway people there's always a cause and effect to everything we do the fundamentals are what they are and a fundamental has to be
