Victoria Beckham tells Alexa Chung all the secrets behind our latest collaboration

Hello, I'm Alexa Chung and we are here in a beautiful house on Costa Brava to celebrate an incredible collection It's a collaboration between Victoria Beckham and Mango. And I'm here with Victoria right now to find out more. Congratulations on this amazing collaboration. Thank you so much. What made Mango the right partner for you to collaborate with? For me, it really does enable me to reach out to a whole new community. Yeah. I haven't always worn designer clothes. You know, when I was younger, you know, I used to love the high street and still do. And I think that Mango are great at what they do and I think we really complemented each other. They were very respectful and understood my vision and what I wanted to do. Do you have a favourite item other than what you're wearing tonight, but is there something that really kind of sings to you in that collection that you think is like the hero? Do you know? For me it's always about being honest and I love to create what I want in my wardrobe. And so I genuinely would wear absolutely everything. But I wanted the collection to be quite focused, very honest, attention to detail, good execution, strong point of view, but really wearable pieces. So it'd be hard to pick a favourite. But I do love the tailoring just because I think if you buy a great tailor jacket, you'll just wear it. Where else do you think you can wear it? Obviously tonight I'm wearing this to your wonderful party. But I thought it's also quite a good sort of wedding guest look. You look so gorgeous. Thank you. I love how you are wearing it with, you know, like the sexy little… Well, I always like feminine and masculine together. I love that. Which is what you do very well, I think. Thank you. And that's very much part of my brand, DNA, if you like. It's about making things feminine, but also with a strong masculine sort of edge as well. I think dressing should feel easy. When you started the collection. Mm-Hmm. And you turned up on day one. What were kind of the ideas that were percolating in your mind? “La Piscine” was the inspiration. I love Jane Birkin and I love the styling in that movie. It's about timeless elegance, natural beauty. Just gorgeousness, right? And is there a sort of feeling that you want this collection to evoke? Like how do you want women to feel wearing your clothes? I always want them to feel feminine and like the most gorgeous version of themselves. I want them to feel empowered, but I want them to feel cool as well. And that's why having the masculine tailoring in the mix is really important as well. The collection's really impressive because it kind of speaks, I think, to different age groups as well. Is that something you have in mind when you're designing? Yeah, I think that there's something for so many different age groups in here, but it's interesting that you say that because I just think it makes it more modern. You know, the fact that you've got something very sexy underneath, but then you've got what looks like your boyfriend's jacket on top. I don't need to say good luck with the collection because it's already a smash hit. Well, thank you very much. I was jeal... I didn't see the pink dress before. Yeah. And then I was like, I want to wear that now. Yeah, just take it, throw it in your bag. It's quite lightweight, no one's going to notice. Exactly, thank you so much. Thank you.
