Intro that be Wednesday morning M fans it's Chris it's Mike it's ear sports.com taking up three minutes of your morning talk football today we're g to talk about transfers what else seems like that's all we talk about nowadays and Mike West Virginia got down to 84 scholarships with the limit being 85 shortly after the portal ended seems that tight end was a key spot as they hosted Junior colle the Nations number one Junior College tight in and Gregory J Ross who was on campus earlier this week but sources indicate that may not be it even if that gets them back to the 85 man camp one in one out they say where regardless of where the one out goes what position should the one in be for West Virginia Mike what's your pick I I can't believe it's tight end I Defensive Backs just can't believe that given who what they have the quantity of players I I don't even think it's going to be on offense if you ask me I'm going the other side I'm going to the defensive backfield and I'm not going cornerback I think they have a way to have depth corners and Nickelback at corner just most concerned about safety Chris we put together our two deeps I had a hard time putting together all the spots at safety Now with an asterisk though I think they really like Aubrey Burks at spear I think that could be his position just the fact that he can be so active around the line of scrimmage um helping the corners helping the linebackers helping the safeties it just a guy like that with his talent his experience how do you weaponize him put him at spear trouble is that creates an opening in the back end and I'm just not seeing it right now for starters in depth you have Anthony Wilson who are you putting next to him Jem Joseph okay that's fine you recruit him from the portal from Northwestern to let him play hasn't played a whole lot but maybe he has a chance to do it this year who's behind him you know who's a guy who gives you a couple series of game who's a guy who's in there for injuries or if Joseph doesn't have it I don't see that you're betting on a lot of Youth right now um maybe converted corners from high school maybe players haven't played a whole lot Maybe guy who played basketball last season just difficult for me right now to to squint and look at it and tilt my head and figure out where they have the depth um I know they're not committing resources to recruiting safeties from the portal I just can't believe I'd be doing the same thing I'd be trying to get a safety in the back Defensive Line end I'm with you same thing about putting together two deep was just like well what am I doing here who's going there it's hard it's hard to find answers uh another position that I don't say it was hard to find answers but there were question marks in a lot of spots in the two deep especially the two part of that that's defensive line uh every defensive line coach wants you know six eight players that could contribute West Virginia has two key returners that were starters um in vinin and Shawn Martin then you start looking at the other spots especially behind them and behind fetor M MBA who's going to take over the starting nose position presumably but Hammon Russell out all spring Cory McIntyre out all spring DJ Jackson oh excuse me hammer Russell not all spring Assan Redwood out all spring Cory McIntyre out all spring Hammond Russell strong showing but still limited action TJ Jackson a transfer who had some success at his previous stop but we didn't hear too much about this year and is currently listed as a backup for Shawn Martin maybe he plays other spots too but if you're looking for 6 to8 spots on that defensive line I'm having a hard time finding 68 players with zero question marks for West Virginia so that would be another priority for me
