Word out of Raiders' 2024 training camp day 9 plus depth chart

Intro [Music] the Las Vegas Raiders have day nine of their 2024 training camp in the books now they didn't have PS on today so what was about the quarterbacks receivers defensive backs linebackers went in coverage and running backs when catching the ball as far as the quarterbacks go neither Aiden no Connell nor Gardner muu distinguish themselves today there's a lot of competition there in every position and speaking of competition still no one has distinguished themselves at quarterback maybe it's just the defense Corner joron benett seems to have made the big leap to year two and if he did watch out it's going to be hard for opposing offenses someone has to take that quarterback job away though let's see what the Raiders had to say about themselves today we start off Head Coach Antonio Pierce with head coach Antonio Pierce like I said neither quarterback has distinguished himself no I don't think we've you know sit there and say somebody's won yet uh I think they both had good moments I'll go back I think Gardner's had you know several days now where he's made some plays but then there's also some turnovers that show up that we don't want to have happen as well and again when I look at Aiden I see a guy that's you know throwing the ball accurate I see some drops by wide receivers um and I don't think it's just on the quarterbacks I think overall offensive play has to pick up sense urgency wide rece receivers o line just all those guys again go back to the very beginning of my opening statement of training camp they're going against a very good defense and uh I think they're feeling that and I think it's good for our our team the competition part but obviously uh somebody again has to just you know step up and we're getting closer and closer and obviously we get in the game we mode a little bit as we get later in the week he doesn't know who's going to start the preseason opener on Saturday but he knows they're both going to play no we haven't like we got we got you know we still got two more true training camp practices then we got Wednesday Thursday and then that's when we'll start looking what we want to do game-wise but like I said both quarterbacks want to play a legit quarter who goes out first and who goes out second really doesn't matter get a hopefully equal amount of snaps and opportunities to Showcase he seems to like how things are going on both sides of the line of scrimmage too yeah I like what we're doing offensively getting off the rock physical uh getting to the second level I like the little nastiness that we're starting to build amongst our offensive line and that group of just finishing down the field finishing blocks you know putting guys on the ground and like a how remember you know finishing them truly finish them I think up front defensively you got some really good players on that side of the ball hard to block I think Max has had a you know tremendous Camp Christian as well Byron young Malcolm K those guys Adam B those guys have really stepped up and in Tyrie the last couple days we started to see those tries I think he's getting his legs underneath them again just moving him around and again only a seconde player not with a lot of snaps I see Improvement there as well he lik Saturday scrimmage yeah I love the physicality that we play with I love the guys wasn't shying away from it there wasn't a lot of Miss tackles uh um I thought our secondary did a really good job of coming up filling in the alley our Corners keeping Force good job in the Run game and then obviously the ball in the air some of them DBS made plays and that that's what we're looking for you know tur the ball over creating those opportunities for offense he's liking jacobe Myers and the receivers without Devon Adams here I thought Jacob's picked up right we left in the off season catching the ball the yak full speed competitive tough um I think as a group you've seen other guys DJ Turner's really stood out uh he's made some plays down the field some you know some sweeps some handoffs and then obviously on the Special Teams he's really picked up Christian's had some moments and some of those younger guys as you get in the training camp you guys see how we're doing practice you know they getting opportunities at the end of the day you got to make the most out of them it could be two it could be five it could be a whole scrimmage but I think you know some of those younger guys are making some catches and doing some things like that and it' be really good to see him come Saturday rookie Corner the cian Richardson is still opening some eyes too it's shocking to see because he doesn't say much you gotta gota like you notice when he's in because he's so big but his speed his length is really what attracted me and our and our staff and then obviously Tesco and those guys in personal did a really good job of identifying them but more important is toughness right he he goes up there he competes he wants to play press he wants to put his hands on people that ties into what our pass rush is doing so he's fitting in well and on special teams he's it's been lights out he's done a really good job with special teams really buying into that to say he's gonna be a starting corner I don't know maybe he gets a chance I don't know but right now he's bought into to his role right he's trying to be that third fourth Corner more important to be a core special teams guy oh man there's competition and right tackle now DJ Glades is coming yeah as you as you make plays and you produce you get more reps regardless to who's there it's all about competition a just that quarterback constantly said that so if he's what's unique about him man we could really put him at right tackle then switch him to very next uh group with the twos or whatever group and put him at left tackle he doesn't Flinch and he's not shying away from some of our better players you know you see him going against Max and Tyree and Malcolm and he's holding his own now he gets beat sometimes he's some really good players but you what you see is a consistent as a consistent player man like mentally his assignments alignments he's not making a lot of mental errors not a repeat offender he likes how Dylan Palm Cody wh here and Andrew Peter doing it guard Jackson P Johnson you better hurry back yeah and if I can add Pete in there as well I thought Cody Pete and uh Dylan have done a good job of just being Stout and then you talking about two older players and Pete and Cody you know 32 I think 30 but man they've taken almost every rep no no complaining just kind of go out there that worker workman's mentality and I've always been a fan of having veterans in certain rooms especially o line dline and you can teach these guys how to the tricks of the trade of playing the position how to sneak uh cheat how to get off the rock timing up that that snap count so you get advantage on the defense they did a good job and I think Dylan the move to Right Guard has helped them you know there's been some really good moments and been some moments we got to learn from from but he's bought into it he's in a good space right now he's in a good head space he's competing um and he's and he's growing he's working on being better and better with him and mord on that side two young players that are really ascending all right thank you oh yeah CB Maran Bennett fourth round Corner dick Maran Bennett's playing well in cam to watch him cheese while he talks about it um I think I'm doing a pretty good job you know every day I try to set me a goal and I try to push towards that goal each every day so it's been two weeks can you can you gauge the progress that you've made or have things slowed down a little bit for you out there yeah it's U slowed down a lot you know I learned the scheme a lot better so I'm getting everything down and be able to play faster now we're on WR Christian Wilkerson the receiver Christian Wilkerson who doesn't get caught up in who threw the ball he's just there to catch it no just really when the ball's in the air nobody thre it really is just catching the ball so that's all it is to it now we're on to 42 speeder DJ Tucker who's been balling he starts off by talking about the process of finding a role on the offense um I mean I'm I'm I'm I would say I'm in the process of doing that like still trying to figure it out every day and I feel like um the goal is just to be better each day and and each year you know what I mean so if I right now I do feel like I'm taking a step forward uh for myself and being able to establish a role in this offense it's been a goal since I got out here so that's the plan and I'm going to keep keep moving towards it all right let's look at the offensive Depth chart depth chart here all right you see Devonte Adams in his position at receiver you know Colt Miller is going to start left tackle they're just not rushing them back Jackson Powers Johnson who second team left guard right now should be the starter but your best ability is your availability so Cody whiteair is a starter now then you have Andre James at Center nothing new there and Dylan James moved over to Right Guard right tackle could be turning into a battle D mford still has it now but watch for DJ glaz the number two guy at Tian you have Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer and they're both having good camps barring injury they'll be the starters at tight in all right you have jacobe Myers in this spot with Tucker is the three zamir white is in his running back spot and look at the quarterback position it's a dead heat between okell and muu now we look at the defensive depth chart all right no one had to tell you Max Crosby's in the spot but Tyreek Wilson is backing him up and despite the strong camp that Byron young is having JN Jenkins is a sty on the NOS all right Christian Wilkins is another no doubter and Malcolm K is holding on to his spot all right at the linebackers you know Robert Spain and divine Diablo are holding on to their spots you got to love the depth there though with Luke Masterson and Tommy ikenberg behind them we got Nate Hobs as a slot Corner another no doubter there then you have joron Bennett and Jack Jones who are having great camps you know what though be on the lookout for deam Maran Richardson cuz he's coming and for the last line of defense the Raiders have a solid safety Tandem and Trayvon M Marcus EPS you have to be on the lookout for Isaiah Palomo though cuz he's coming Outro the depth chart so far is a depth chart so far and I don't have any problems with it there's some things to look for though look at the right tackle spot is mford finally going to grab it or is glaze going to get it can Powers come back in time to grab the left guard spot from white hair and of course there's a battle of all battles for the quarterback position is someone going to go out and take that spot or they're going to have to give it to someone there is the difference and the defense man they're deep if someone falters a cor Richardson is looking to snatch one of those positions same
