voter in 2024 I cannot support Donald Trump trump is 100% responsible for January 6 treatment of women it's just disgusting Trump called servicemen suckers and losers yes Trump has a second term it will be much worse than the first kamla Harris is a prosecutor he's a convicted in 2024 I will be I will I will be proudly voting for comma Harris Republican accountability pack is responsible for the content of this advertising the push also features more than 80 billboard showing former Trump voters from swing state saying they'll now vote for Harris over the former president joining us now Sarah Longwell executive director of Republican voters against Trump she's also the publisher of the bull workk Sarah where exactly will this new ad run and tell us more about it what's the strategy behind it yes we're launching in Pennsylvania Michigan Wisconsin Arizona and Nebraska too uh which are some of the key States uh where we think that uh KLA Harris is going to need to overperform in order to defeat Donald Trump and the strategy is very simple you have got to build a permission structure for uh Republican soft GOP voters right-leaning Independents uh people who are maybe voted for Donald Trump and in fact everybody in our campaign has voted for Donald Trump at least once in many times in many cases twice uh but they're out on him and what we've seen I do focus groups all the time uh with voters and one of the things we've seen is a tremendous openness from some Trump voters uh many of them are the kind of sort of Obama Trump voters back from 2016 uh they tend to be people who only tune in right around now uh as the election gets really close and we've seen a tremendous openness to uh voting for kamla Harris people are interested they want to hear more about what she stands for they want to learn more many of them uh don't know that much about her even though she was the vice president of the United States and so they're getting to meet her for the first time and so what we're doing is taking uh Republican voices Trump voting voices and elevating them so that uh is a signal basically as a permission structure for other Republican voters who are Comm curious uh to say you know what just because I voted for Trump or just because I identify as a republican uh I'm interested in voting for kamla Harris and I'm going to do it because Donald Trump either presents such a threat or I'll tell you actually what we hear from a lot of these voters more than anything else is people are bored by Trump they're bored with all of the drama uh they're tired of the insults they're tired of the lies about the election they want to know what is somebody going to do for them they want to know how they're going to handle the economy handle inflation uh and they're interested in a new pitch and that's what KLA Harris has for them yeah s I'd add the word exhausted so many Republicans are using that word too to describe uh to describe Trump so one of the major flaws with polling in recent Cycles is there seems to be an undercount of trump supporters in part people theorize because some are unwilling to admit to a pollster like hey I'm going to vote for Donald Trump but do you think this time around we might have the opposite effect where there may be some Republicans who might not be willing to acknowledge to a poster or to friends and family like you know what I'm not going to vote Republican this time around I'm going to vote for the Democratic nominee but then actually when it comes to The Ballot Box the privacy of The Ballot Box push the button for Harris yeah and I think this is especially true of sort of working class women um where uh you'd be surprised uh how many of them uh are thinking about this race in sort of an entirely new frame they like KLA Harris I mean we're seeing uh sort of non-oled white workingclass women a real openness to her now some of it has to do with abortion as an issue uh but a lot of it is that they just feel like she's for them is something that we say that she seems normal they like the choice of Tim Walls as the vice president uh and so they're not 100% there yet though I sort of want to be clear that what they're saying is I'm interested I'm listening uh although in other cases we are seeing people who voted for Trump in the focus groups we just did one uh recently I think you guys might have some sound from it where the entire group had voted for Trump previously and every single one of them was going to vote for Harris and a lot of it too was the contrast that they see between her message as being optimistic and uplifting and Donald Trump's being being Doom and Gloom but as we fight to move forward Donald Trump is trying to pull us backward including back to a time before workers had the freedom to organize he's going to jail well the courts will handle that and we will handle November how about that we'll handle November let the courts handle that other thing but we're not going [Applause] back we're not going back we not going back not going back not going back and one of the ways one of the ways we're going to guarantee we don't go back is that we remember right it is important to remember what that was and what it is remember as president Donald Trump blocked overtime benefits for millions of workers [Applause] he opposed efforts to raise the minimum wage as a president said he appointed Union Busters to the National Labor Relations Board and don't forget he supported so-called right to work laws and if Donald Trump were to be reelected he intends to give more tax cuts to billionaires and big corporations so uh you mentioned uh flip-flopping on one of many issues but one of them uh was Reproductive Rights and the former president president continues to struggle on the issue with a series of flip-flops evangelicals have supported him in part because of his strong pro-life stances but he undercut that support last month in a social media post claiming he would be he would quote be great for women and their Reproductive Rights days later in an interview with NBC News he was pressed about Florida's six week abortion ban well I think the six week is too short uh it has to be more time and so that's and I've told them that I want more weeks so you'll vote in favor of the amendment I'm I'm voting that I am going to be voting that we need more than six weeks the Republican Presidential nominee has now come out against the Florida ballot measure that would extend the time women in the state have to get an abortion conservative backlash to his earlier comments was Swift with some on the right warning Trump was risking losing a key block of anti-abortion Voters he attempted then to clean up his comments on Friday watch Are You voting yes or no on Amendment 4 in Florida so I think six weeks you need more time than 6 weeks I've disagreed with that right from the early primaries when I heard about it I disagreed with it at the same time the Democrats are radical because the nine months is just a ridiculous situation that where you can do an abortion in the 9th month and you know some of the states like Minnesota and other states have it where you could actually execute the baby after birth and all of that stuff is unacceptable so I'll be voting no for that reason okay that was just a ridiculous lie uh the Harris campaign issued a statement following Trump's latest comments quote Donald Trump just made his position on abortion very clear he will vote to uphold an abortion ban so so extreme it applies before many women even know they are pregnant Jonathan lamir um there are many many many different angles we could take on this be the nine-month LIE is one that we've seen pervade the Republican Party since the onset of the campaign it is a complete lie although it is taken by many uh Republican follows followers and magga voters whole cloth just take it they think it actually happens because it's said enough and it's echoed enough on right-wing n uh networks it's not corrected um the bigger issue is that all of his different answers is what Trump does it confuses people nobody really knows where he stands and ultimately nothing matters it's a bigger part of some would say some dangerous Trends toward fascism in this country but for this election could the lies work yeah it's certainly more of the fireh hood of falsehood strategy we've seen from Trump for a number of years now but it's also refle Ive of how his campaign is frankly panicking about the abortion issue uh you know I have talked to those in Trump World who have said the former president himself has acknowledged privately that he thinks abortion could be the biggest problem his campaign faces uh this November uh we know that though publicly he's tried to downplay it privately advisers are worried about where this stands hence the the remarkable flip-flops in the last week about Trump here as he's trying to be pinned down about where he stands with this Florida abortion regulation and you know vice president Harris received some criticism last week after that CNN interview saying she had changed her position on a few things there were slight modulations but Trump deserves that sort of scrutiny times 10 for how he seems to flip-flop on things like this abortion seemingly every day depending who he's talking to depending on the latest poll he has seen and and and on polls that we should note it seems like Harris got her convention bounce pre-convention because Democrats were so excited about the change in the ticket that's when the burst of energy come came uh and caddy we are see though a few other polls have shown a little little upticks for her ever since and also that 5246 that's outside the margin of error we haven't been able to say that a lot uh this campaign because the race is so tight it does seem like though close Harris has momentum and the abortion issue is a big part of it so folks not only are Trump events floundering and failing and breaking apart and ending in disaster rallies in general are going bad for him because we have something to compare them to right like look 2020 was always going to be weird because um in 2020 um Trump was just breaking the law in many cases holding his events whereas Biden and Harris the the team were respecting restrictions 2016 Trump did often have bigger crowds than Hillary and it was a constant worry for people like me like we saw Bernie draw Cloud crowds the Democratic party I feel made the wrong choice in 2016 they went with the person that didn't have energy over the person that did and Trump won this time for the first time ever though KLA is drawing bigger crowds than Trump we've never seen this and look at how professional she is notice how she still mocks and ridicules Trump in many of the things rightfully so but does it with a professionalism that's frankly like inspiring right so they they basically summon the crowd saying like to start lock him up stuff like he's to go to jail and it's not speculation that that might happen like he's literally a convicted felon and where do felons often go they go to jail and there's still other felonies he's up to be tried for and he may get charged in other jurisdictions he may have over a hundred felony charges by the time everything is done but what does Harris say she says we'll let the courts handle that like the politics should be separate from the courts we'll let the courts handle that what we need to do here is connect to the voters that Trump does doesn't give a damn about them that they're sick and tired of him and that he doesn't have solutions to their problem so let the courts throw Donnie in jail when I'm president my focus is going to be on helping you and that's something that terrifies Trump because it's show Harris just cutting through his BS and speaking right to you the American people
