Washington defensive back Dyson McCutchen he's going to be in the rotation for that starting job at the Nickelback star position as they call it in this Steve belich defense with safeties coach Vinnie sameri he's a part of a talented and pretty deep safeties room at Washington he and Jordan Shaw both getting the Reps at that star position McCutchen's been at it for three seasons he registered as a freshman in 2021 but played in 12 games over the last two seasons McCutchen is 5 fo 11 he moves around really well in that defensive back field he's physical a good tackler he has yet to record a tackle in his 12 games of experience I expect we'll see some rotation in this defensive back field with both McCutchen and Shaw able to play that star position pretty well and McCutchen told me that he feels all these guys can play on Saturdays and that's feeding into the competition in this room making each one of these guys better every day during the Spring McCutchen also said there aren't a ton of huge changes in the scheme of the defense with Steve belich although he is a little more go with the flow we've seen that at practice as well it's most terminology changes a lot of similar schemes from last year's system and with McCutchen's experience in the program I think that'll bode well for him and getting on the field on a consistent basis this fall
