here's what you need to know over under win total for the bucke guys 10 and a half they got the best odds to win the Big 10 they've also at FanDuel got the best odds to go undefeated even better than Liberty and that market has shifted a little bit in the past couple of weeks they got the number two odds to win the whole thing behind only Georgia I think I know with Ohio state that this is the most talented roster in the country today we will take an in-depth look at Ohio State's 2024 training camp and we've got a lot to cover from standout players to quarterback battles new additions and coaching changes so let's Dive Right In and see what's happening in Columbus but before I begin I would really appreciate it if you would drop a like And subscribe it only takes 5 Seconds plus you can always change your mind we are on the road to 40K subscribers and with your support I believe we can get there super fast so the biggest story of Camp has been the quarterback battle transfer will Howard from Kansas state has been turning heads with his dual threat ability in the third practice Howard broke loose from for an 80 yard run showcasing the speed that made him a threat at K State he's been rotating with Devin Brown Lincoln Keen holes and Julian saan in 11 on 11 drills Ryan Day hasn't named a starter yet keeping the competition open day told the media we're still evaluating all our quarterbacks it's a process and we want to make sure we get it right freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith the top recruit in the 2024 class has been living up to the hype he's made several acrobatic catches and seems to have instant chemistry with all the quarterbacks on defense defense Alabama transfer Caleb DS has been everywhere he picked off Julian saan in practice and he's even been taking reps as a pun returner so it looks like the Buckeyes found themselves a true playmaker and the addition of Old Miss transfer quench on Judkins also has energized the running back room Judkins has been splitting first team reps with trayon Henderson forming what could be one of the most dynamic backfields in college football running backs coach Carlos llin has been praising Jin's work ethic and ability to pick up the offense quickly the biggest coaching change is the position of Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator Kelly's uptempo offense is already making waves in practice players have mentioned the increased pace and complexity of the Playbook day seems excited about the change saying that chip brings a wealth of experience and innovative ideas we're all learning and growing together the offensive line has also been a big focus in Camp Seth mlin a transfer from Alabama has been working as the first team Center though he did have one high snap in practice Tegra shaba and Carson Hinman have been rotating at Right Guard the only open starting spot on the line in terms of Defense Jim NES has the unit looking sharp quarterback Germaine Matthews Jr has been taking reps at nickel safety showing the versatility that nles loves the defensive line led by JT tulam malaa and Jack Sawyer have been dominant in team drills and I apologize if I mispronounced JT's last name it is just so hard to say it's like a tongue twister but he is such a beast anyways Ty Williams who was named to the preseason watch list for the Outland trophy has also been impressive Williams finished last season with 10 tackles for a loss and is expected to be a key player in the interior of the defensive line his ability to penetrate the offensive line and create havoc in the backfield will be crucial for the Buckeyes this season one of the most underrated intriguing storylines in Camp is the competition at the linebacker spot DC Jim NS has been closely monitoring the battle between several talented players Cody Simon a veteran presence is competing with younger talents like CJ Hicks and Gabe Powers no has emphasized the importance of Versatility and has been experimenting with different linebacker combinations to find the best fit James ltis the new linebacker coach has been instrumental in developing this group his experience and knowledge of the game are helping to evaluate the play of the linebackers making them a more cohesive and effective unit and the secondary is another area of strength for the Buckeyes quarterbacks Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock have been locking down receivers in practice showing excellent coverage skills and ball Hawking abilities safety lean Ransom has also been a standout providing leadership and stability in the back end of the defense and Alabama transfer Caleb DS has been a revelation not only has he been solid in coverage but like I said he's also been taking reps as a punter showcasing his versatility and playmaking ability Down's ability to read the game and make quick decisions has made him a valuable addition to the secondary like none other Jim NES has been implementing some strategic adjustments to keep the defense unpredictable one notable change is the increased use of the nickel package which allows more flexibility and coverage and better matchups against spread off offenses Germaine Matthews Jr has been taking reps at nickel safety adding depth and versatility to the secondary the defensive line has also been experimenting with different alignments and stuns to confuse the offensive line and create more pressure on the quarterback this approach has been effective in practice with the defense consistently winning battles in the trenches special teams play is often overlooked but it's a critical component of a successful defense like I said earlier Caleb DS has been working a little bit as the pun returner adding another dimension to his game and providing the Buckeyes with a potential game changer on special team the competition for the kicking job between Parker Lewis and Jaden Fielding remains tight with both players showing consistency and accuracy in practice so yeah the OSU defense is shaping up to be a formidable unit in 2024 with standout players like JT Jack Sawyer and Caleb DS leading the way and with strategic adjustments from defensive coordinator Jim nolles the buckets are poised to have one of the best defenses in the entire country all right now moving on let's go more in depth about the QB battle let's like I said Ohio State buils one of the deepest quarterback rooms in college football with five scholarship QBs which is a rarity in the current landscape of college sports but this depth provides a significant Advantage allowing the team to be more flexible and less conservative in their play calling particularly in utilizing quarterback runs during the early days of training camp Ryan day and his coaching staff were focused on evaluating the quarterback's performances to make an informed decision the competition is intense with each guy getting opportunities to Showcase their skills D's goal goal is to avoid the prolonged uncertainty that characterized last season's quarterback battle which wasn't fully resolved until after the first few games Howard is the most experienced quarterback in the room having played four years at Kansas state with 27 career starts 5,786 passing yards and 921 rushing yards but he has struggled with accuracy on deep throws in the spring game he completed only two ass six passes over 10 yards and missed his only throw of 20 plus yards downfield but personally I do think he's the guy and I can't wait to see how he does when it really matters I want to talk about what the realistic expectations for this team are in 2024 because I think this team has a pretty easy schedule in terms of the Big 10 this season and with the new playoff format the regular season doesn't actually matter as much as we are used to so good teams may take a game off which isn't something we haven't really seen before now I don't think anyone is actually going to try to lose on purpose or anything like that that is not what I'm trying to say at all but I think you get my point so record-wise I don't think anyone cares what Ohio State does they just need to beat Michigan that is the one thing they have to do or else fans are going to turn on Ryan day even more what are you guys expecting from Ohio State this year let me know in the comments below I think outside of Georgia Ohio State clearly has the most talent in all of college football they have a ridiculously expensive team and it's time to capitalize that's really all I have to say for this video thank you all so much if you made it to this point and if you enjoyed and hav't yet please be sure to drop a like And subscribe cuz your support truly means the world and also let me let me know what you would like to see next
