Mark Perry alongside Pat GRE greguar and it is a quick turnaround for both of these teams the Victoria Shamrocks winning last night 9 to8 to take a one- nothing series lead and I want to key in real quick on what we saw 24 hours ago Pat you take a look at those stats really in my opinion the second period really made the huge difference it was a big difference cigary really sunken played dominant made a bunch of big saves but it was it was the resilience of that Victoria team being able to really distance themselves well we got the national antha playing right now we'll get more into our teup and then the faceoff for game two here of the man cup [Music] our pregame will continue here with the smoke dance and the singing as well [Music] you [Music] [Music] your [Music] [Applause] Mr cam Hill and now fans could both captains please report to Center Flor for tonight's ceremonial ball drop and once again we welcome back Six Nations Chiefs alumni please welcome tonight Mr Randy Ms and Mr Neil dodridge [Applause] as Jesse King and Cody James take the ceremony face off we're just about underway for game two of the man cup and a couple of line changes to mention for the Six Nations Chiefs as the smoke dance we'll take you through that just after this [Music] [Music] w [Applause] h [Music] [Applause] once again the six Nation smoke dancers a great celebration of indigenous culture the creators game game two of the man cup about to get underway now let's get to a couple of those line changes Patton more specifically for the six Nation Chiefs it's on the back and both changes are on defense 2D out 2D in yeah as no surprise we talked about it Brad cre not able to be in the lineup due to some work commitments he's ready to go Brad Creed jumps into the lineup as we see Kell lir uh come out of that lineup and AO Thompson again another player that draws in the lineup he was ready to go I think he's going to add a little more grit a little more toughness and as you and Daryl uh talked about a lot during that MSL finals he really elevated his game he added a little bit of transition into his game as well so look for a spark of energy and when it comes to Brad Curry he's going to have a heavy dose of marking the likes of the Kings the Petersons he's one of the Premier defenders in the NL and the same goes here in Senior Lacrosse well I'd say It's the Return of the King here tonight but the Kings haven't left Jesse King had a great game one but how about Marshall King he was definitely the story on offense six goals and one hel for the sock trick to kick things off on the man cup as we take a look at the starting go tenders no surprise the Victoria Shamrocks will start once again Chris origlieri but as expected as well the Six Nations Chiefs have been going back and forth with their goal tending tonight it's Warren Hill getting the the start and not for any reason besides the fact that they've been doing this all year it's a two-man system they have two Elite goal Tenders in Hill Jameson was phenomenal last night he actually finished with more saves than or regulary 42 saves are on 51 shots so this is just how they do it's a tandem so it's Warren Hill start tonight look for the Chiefs to come out hot as Cody Jameson takes that shot orary with the save and Victoria will move up with Jay had a chance to talk to Mike Simpson about the game last night before this one and he said like the effort from his team I said you had to be happy with the result he said happy with the result but it wasn't still a full 60 minutes so obviously very high expectations for this wa Champion group shot by Jesse King just misses that'll go out of play it'll be Chief's ball and you know again as I keyed in on that second period you look at what the stats brought in that one four goal for Victoria just the one for six nations it really helped Victoria kind of get that spacing ahead of the third period yes Lyle Thompson you know had a heck of a third period but there's a shot he scores starting early is the liger Eli mcin makes it one [Music] nothing if Six Nations wants to even up the series tonight Eli mlin is certainly one that needs needs to heat up as he unloads that shot from the outside the patent release that we see from mlin just one assist from him last night although was doing a lot of little things back checked really well picked up some big loose balls but a guy like McLaughlin he needs to produce and that's a great start for number 51 for the Chiefs yes indeed and he's got the ball here again Chief first looking for some space cutting around that'll be pi off and Victoria will come right on back Patrick or rather Preston will move up the floor he'll go off and leave it here for dods King into the corner finds pickup pickup looking shooting Warren Hill with the save and it'll be picked up here by the Chiefs too long there for nko but he's got the ball here now Prolo for Smith Smith looking shooting he hits the post Dan Smith is going to be another guy here comes Phillips the other way shot tried the one hopper down low but it's going to go into the screen and out of play not a bad game for Dane Smith three assists no goals but certainly on that right side he is what really gets that offense going as a distributor so look to see him see if he can get his game going a little early on he's got a couple of turn Styles there inside trying to find Longboat but it goes off of his stick Smith with it again shot it'll be stopped by a wrigly area and Victoria takes possession that's one thing Victoria I know Six Nations has great Shooters but they have no problem giving up those outside shots Big Shot there Warren Hill with the save as they trust their goenda and you mentioned that second period just one goal against he was phenomenal from the outside this Victoria defense did a really good job taking everything away from the Middle Jackson in for Lyall Thompson six points in game one shot by Smith it'll be stopped by AIG leeri he's got it underneath him nice little two-man game little flip from Lyall Thompson over to danne Smith but or rary like we said so many times yesterday up to the task makes a big stop Peterson he'll pull back and you look back at that third period Pat and the way that the Chiefs finished off you have to think that they're able to take some of that momentum coming here into game number two that's why you finish strong as well here comes Bell the other way takes a shot off the shoulder and Peterson will get possession Edwards trying to keep him to the outside and he will do just that got it over for Wilson Peterson with it again for dods shot stopped by Warren Hill and he'll keep it in front of him similar builds between Doug Jameson and Warren Hill I would say that douge is a little bit of a smaller goal tender so Hill is able to block a little bit more of the net there's a shot stopped by aigle are say Warren Hill a little more of an active goalie in between the pipes a little more athletic challenges Shooters a little more where you see Jameson definitely more working on his angles and more of a blocking style that old school style of go tender Wilson looking for some space Over It Gets By The Stick of rubish loose ball picked up here by Jesse King what a hack there from rubish absolutely aggressive and that'll allow Brendan bomberry to move up the floor great defense there from Kyle rubish to get that ball loose that's just vintage Kyle rubish comes for the slide there one hand on the stick completely dislodges that ball in the stick from King Randy STS trying to find Jackson with the quick stick goes back to Longboat another corner for Jackson shot by mlin rebound scores if at first you don't succeed you try try again the loggers got a pair and it's two nothing [Music] a lot of north south attack here from the Chiefs as they get the ball down low that's where they want to start things up they're seeing obviously trying to take advantage of the athletic and overaggressive defense of V uh Victoria once their heads turned they have that back door cut and as he said crash the net good things happen pick up the rebound put a home is m a scores his second of the game second of the man cup Theo got mobbed there by a pair of chiefs they got the ball here now Su down up and here comes the Captain Cody Jameson Jameson looking crashing through takes the shot that one is going to hit the goal tender and go out of play she's with it again here Smith looking shooting stops unassisted you know if you're Victory you go down 02 early here you cannot Panic as they Panic they're not able to get that ball over Denton McDonald but you can't Panic you knew that there was going to be a big push from the Chiefs early on here obviously disappointed with the way they started last game they wanted to start on time that's exactly what they did you just got to keep calm keep presentence and and keep doing what you know worked yesterday Cody Jameson with the shot it goes wide and Victoria will move up the floor on the counter good job by Longboat to retreat keeping Preston right in front of him and not allowing him to get space and cut to the outside Peterson to the near side for King Marshall King gets it over inside shot stopped by Warren Hill and it's underneath them that's a presence of Mind there from Warren Hill don't move or else you could get that ball loose it could drop into the net Great Piece of Lacrosse there good recovery slide good help defense somehow goce is even able to get that shot off but Warren Hill has the last laugh as he makes that big save and keeps it going from out of the net Wade he'll go off and just leave it here for Patrick dods dods has to retreat gets it back to the captain Jesse King in for Wilson Wilson over shot that one Ricochet is wide Wilson with a shot on the rebound and Hill knocks it away here comes Martin two on one Martin looking can't get it over that was a beautiful pick here by number 18 Ryan mlan great job there by the defense a beautiful pick beautiful read looked like it was going to be numbers the other way two onone Justin Martin a rare Miss Q in transition dods having a turn back aggressive D there from Cole Peterson trying to get around Tyson Bell Tyson Bell says no no no little Halifax Thunderbirds on Halifax Thunderbirds crime there as Peterson and Bel go to to toe they've done it so many times in practice and training camp now they're doing it here in the man cup you know they're during the winter there's no friends here no doubt about that Longboat a shot there by Jackson orary with the save and Lyall Thompson will pick it up a refresher the shot clock and the shot as he was knocked down it's stopped loose ball is going to be picked up here by Victoria they got numbers the other way Preston and King Preston shot shoulder saved by Hill here we go again back and forth nko with the ball on the near side and gets it to Cody Jameson who pitches it right back Randy STS trying to find some space inside shot and unable to get full release on that one was Brendan bomberry Six Nations maybe found a little bit of a hole in the defense they're really exposing Victoria in the two-man game that's something that the Shamrocks are going to want to tighten up that communication when you're exposed in that two-man game Dodge inside can't get the full shot away good job there by Martin and I really feel like they benefited from that particularly in the third period there was a lot of two-man gameplay that allowed the Chiefs to climb slowly back in that final frame Smith for Jackson Jackson gets it over Lyle back to Jackson shot right off the crest of the Jersey of aigle are big check there on the near side and here comes Wilson Max Wilson will hold on he'll go to the bench and leave it here for Peterson Marshall King King twisting and turning back for Peterson up top that's going to go off a stick loose ball to the far side and Bell will get possession for the Chiefs under 10 minutes to go here in the first period the Chiefs have a pair this man here mclin's got both of them and the whistle is going to go it's going to be a turnover moving pick there from Six Nations Phillips with a shot hill with a kick save and a throw into the board that's going to generate some think it's just going to be the two based off what we saw from the official there and yeah just 2 minutes up on the clock that was a dangerous hit you never want to see that vulnerable player in a vulnerable position on the floor luckily for Brad K he pops up and luckily for Victoria it's only a two-minute penalty Victoria shamro J Smith with the ball first Power Play of this game will go to the Chiefs Jackson on the near side he'll cut to the front looks for some space still has it takes the shot that one stopped and he'll get the ball right back Dane Smith loses it gets it right back to for a bit of a Sprint the Ohio State Alum will leave it back here for wle now what a game he played last night mentioned it on the broadcast man his stock for this year's draft next week basically a week today absolutely well you mentioned it partner going to be a first round it seems a first rounder it seems and the more and more you hear his name here the more and more you're probably going to see him rise the charts there's no doubt about that talking to some folks across the league even last night after the game they figured mid to late for first round or before last night if he continues his play could be hearing it much much earlier in the first round Cody Jameson takes a couple of hacks got it back over shot rebound scores quick stick and it's Shane jackon making it three nothing power play goal here for the Chiefs Six Nations power play remains perfect they went two for two yesterday this is a gorgeous skip feed from Randy STS but Victoria's penalty kilter just a little bit too aggressive gets over extended and it allows that back door just to creep open enough for Shane Jackson to go on the back door and Hammer that home got to keep that shape a little bit tighter play is underway here the Shamrocks will get the ball number2 Chris w got it to Jesse King King looking shooting will waren Hill kicks It Away Great knock there from Brendan bomberry he's got a bit of space takes a shot stopped by aary knocked down in the process but aigle ER makes the save and here come the Rocks back the other way Eli mcin with a pair Shane Jackson with the latest three nothing Chiefs with just under 8 minutes to go here in the first Casey Wilson cutting around finds some space gets to dods four on the shot clock Jesse King sees it takes the shot it's blocked and it'll go into the corner and the shot clock will expire once again just a little to perimeter for this offense in Victoria most particularly the righties dods has to find a way to get to the middle of the floor mlin tried to find a bit of space inside looking for that quick stick back and shot there oh Jackson almost made that one look pretty Smith five on the shot clock still has it to mclin inside two seconds left there's the shot and a rly area with the save and recovered here by the Rocks Peterson into the corner Derek Lloyd or rather that was Marshall King and Peterson was knocked into the net it looks like it's going to be a Chiefs power uh a Chiefs penalty kill upcoming the hand is up the Shamrocks with possession there was a bit of a play Just beside Warren Hill it looks like it's going to be Justin Martin Marshall King gets knocked down by Jeremy Thompson and we'll see who the guilty party is here yeah Justin Martin Martin try to plead his case to Andrew eckelstone one of the officials for tonight calls it a trip I think you could have maybe called it for a a hit from behind whatever it was it took away a clear scoring opportunity for Victoria so I think it's a good call there by Andrew eone the veteran official from Ontario so officially tripping yes indeed Marshall King back to Jesse takes the shot it's blocked in front Brian Cole got possession it's knocked out of his stick still in front of him trying to just get it ahead they're going to call play and it will be Victoria ball we talked about how potent that power play was last night and continues to be today for six nations well Victoria went two for three last night just goes to show all the electrifying offensive Talent between these two teams Marshall in into the corner to Jesse back to Marshall takes the shot it's skipped off the leg of priolo and goes in behind the goal seven on the shot clock and getting mobed there was Matthew go it's underneath Warren Hill and he's got it up the floor comes Lyall Thompson got a bit of space to get over Center under a minute to go in the penalty on the far side is Lyle Thompson inside for Sundown takes the shot and no how did that one stay out Sundown thinks that one went in I think that was mightily close just the wherewithal to even get that shot off that one looked like it went double post double beans and outs Marshall King has it plays first still three nothing Six Nations Patrick dods on the near side cuts out in front finds Jesse King now inside Dodge with a shot great block there from Brendan Bon Berry everybody's contributing on the defense here tonight yeah I'd love to see bomberry a guy that plays mostly offense in the National acros League for the Georgia swarm he did play a little bit of transition there before moving up full-time to offense but he gets his name called just look at all the talent on that right side but man oh man he is a great two-way player Randy STS inside shot stopped by aigary rebound is going to be picked up by the CHS they get a freshh shot clock to work with another hustle play from Longboat he was so so big for six nations last night scoring some big goals but also those big gritty plays and he's got it here again backhand shot had his helmet halfway off misses the net a dozen Chiefs will represent the hoden of shony Nationals in UA later on this month so call this this one an extended time in a high pressure situation getting ready for that world championship it'll be picked up here and slowing down there is priolo and we'll see what the call is here the fans showering the floor with some booze and right on point The Penalty Box door opens it's Brian Cole getting a slash the Ila faithful here don't like the call I don't think Cole liked it all that much either but Victoria going to yet another opportunity 0 for one so far on the man Advantage AC Wilson finds Marshall King over to Jesse in the corner for goer back to goer to Jesse shot off the bar and in and out of play nice little set piece they had there got Clark Peterson to come across the floor set that pick set the seal get the ball over to goce to free up some space over to King get that shot off go back to Jesse back to Marshall for Casey Wilson he gets it right back up top for King to Jesse shot wired wide rebound picked up by Brad cre basically ran the exact same play just on the other side for the lefties but then they extend it C back over to the right hand side try to free up Jesse King once again again for another shot but six nation's defense able to pick that one up Randy STS will slow things down a bit B it over for Smith Smith inside outside shot that just missed and Randy STS almost getting a hack there and here come the Shamrocks still 50 seconds to go in the penalty looks like they're going to go Lefty strong now with Jesse King at the top of the power play instead of Marshall giving him a different look just a slight modification let's see if it works shot that one goes off the bar that might be the third pipe we've seen from King he just can't buy one right now that was a great play though running that scissors double seal from the top he's got it here again winding backhand pass shot and scores Victoria gets on the board with a minute and 11 remaining in the first it's a power play goal and it looks like it's goer and Matthew goce three assists last night had a ton of loose balls just a hardnose hard hat lunch pail type of guy but he shows off some great finesse throws that sidearm shot but how about the behind the back feed from Jesse King you just felt there was too many OPP opportunities coming for Victoria on that power play they needed one badly and they finally got one to break that goose egg and cut the lead to two and that's leadership by example there from Jesse King the hand goes up there's going to be another penalty here against the Chiefs the hand is up 55 seconds to go in the period and it looks like the rocks are just going to be content to try to milk the shot clock as much as possible Wilson Peterson over trying to find go with the quick stick it's loose it's still underneath everybody and the shot clock will expire and a bit of a face wash there after it was initial slash off that face off I think it's going to be Steve priola he's walking over the bench but he's also trying to plead his case here's the penalty here scrum off the face off wat for Big Mike oh Steve priolo there with the I don't I don't know if I love that one that seems like just everybody going in for a battle for that B I don't know how you pick one slash out there when there's two or three others both sides of the floor hacking and whacking away shot by Jesse King it's going to be knocked down the whistles are going flying here as bodies go flying and here come the Chiefs 17 seconds to go in the first Lyall Thompson great move trying to get down and he is absolutely bold over there from Bennett Smith and a couple of Chiefs in there and taking exception is Cody Jameson he did not like that one bit well Jameson and Bennett Smith were going at each other all game long whether was on the face off in loose ball battles at the end of the game we saw them get into it he didn't love ly Thompson getting tossed to the turf as he comes flying in here and then I think that's when he realized it was McDonald like oh yeah I owe you a couple of licks from last night well Smith and Cody will have to sit on this one as they get offsetting liners I mean normally when you you get a captain off on a Defender for a captain you say it's a good trade but with the way that McDonald uh sorry yeah the way that uh Bennett Smith has been playing I mean you want that guy on the floor absolutely you do 5 seconds left in the period looking for a buzzer beater as Jesse King inside shoty scores one point 9 seconds to go and it looks like it's going to be Marshall King what else is new here at the man cup his seventh goal of the of the man cup up to eight points now in the man cup and it's King to King look at this great see the two crease guys coming set that scissor sealed this is a perfect executed power play marker it's King to King just like used to do in the backyard the two brothers connect for a beauty almost a buzzer beater as Victoria Cuts this lead just to one to head into the locker rooms a great show a great start for the Six Nations Chief they got three on the board two of them from Eli mlin his first two of the man cup but you love the response from the Victoria Shamrocks as they get a pair toose out the first period including one with just one second left just how they drew it up one goal game heading into the second period Daryl SM is floor side Daryl take it away thanks a lot Mark and Patty we've got Eli mcglaughlin he started it off two goals tonight what was said after that loss last night uh just amongst yourselves in the room uh I think it was just I don't know it's like we forgot how to play for like lacrosse for 45 minutes and we're obviously better than that we know that and uh we said hey we got to come out some energy like that last 10 minutes that's how we can play the grass that last 10 minutes last night you seem to really grab the momentum is that something you guys have really talked about and kind of carried on into this one yeah I mean we had to take that energy from last night into tonight and uh you know once we started attacking with speed and you know actually attacking the defense you know that's when we started having success and I think we we had some great looks this period was kind of the same so one more question just about uh at the end of the period they came back with a couple how do you guys recover and rebound back from that yeah I mean it's tough couple Power Play Goals and you know I think we said that before the game is that's what we need to limit and if our defense is playing the way they did before the penalties like with you here upstairs in the Ila it's a 3-2 game the Six Nations Chiefs with the lead over the Victoria Shamrocks and Pat one thing that I really noticed in that first period particularly with the goals from the Six Nations Chiefs they have not been afraid to challenge a rary in tight no they haven't and I think that's something that they recognized in the last game he was seeing everything from the outside he he was challenging those Shooters but one thing they did really well is getting to the middle they are also exposing Victoria's overaggressive defense look Jameson draws out all the men look at all those white shirts they come up they forget Shane Jackson on the back door but as aggressive as Six Nations has been they maybe have been a little bit too much because two power play markers have put this Victoria team right back into this game and particularly in talking about the that that power play and how potent it is we've been seeing the aggressiveness pick up and we've been seeing maybe a little bit of disciplined play uh here in this first period how much do you feel like these two teams really need to cut it back but not necessarily you know hold back too much if you will it it's tough It's the man cup you always up the ante it's it's for a National Championship it's for one of the most iconic trophies in the sport one of the oldest trophies in Canadian sports so everyone's riled up you want to also like it's a long series you want those offensive players to feel the bumps and bruises every time the best players are coming off the floor they should be picking the themselves up they should be feeling it but with that being said it's all got to be in between the whistles can't be the extra stuff as soon as the official comes in no more because as we've seen it with both these teams it scoring is coming at a premium at five on five that's how good these goalies are that's how good these defenses are but as soon as the power play comes out it's almost automatic that's how good these man up opportunities have been for both teams Six Nations perfect so far uh for them and I think there's only been two missed opportunities so far for Victoria they've done really really really nice job chalking things up for their Echelon top talent just a quick note for the Victoria Shamrocks the second most disciplined team in the WLA this season I feel like that has to play a part here in this series as well it's a team that knows how to play to the edge but not necessarily tip over it and I feel like they have a good advantage in this series in that as well great point because last night it felt like that was the case with this young Shamrock team they played physical they got all the faces we talked about it Bennett Smith and Cody Jameson going Toe to Toe jawing at each other but as soon as the officials came in you know you see Smith walk away you see all these other Defenders walk away they wouldn't get sucked into things we're seeing it a little bit more tonight for Victoria and as it goes on the patience are going to be a little bit thinner but I thought Victoria did a really good job last night tempering the the the temperature of the game walking away while still managing to play a tough and and rough style brand lacrosse we t on Chris orary already you know seeing a lot of those shots from the outside Six Nations able to take advantage of some in tyght plays a a quick stick goal uh for that 3 nothing lead but how about the play of Warren Hill kept the Victoria Shamrocks off the board for the vast majority of that first period can't forget about the defense obviously but I think Warren Hill had a pretty good period his first period here at the 2024 man cup yeah especially early on I thought you know Mark he made some really big saves and that just goes to show you you mentioned how big of a boy he is he looks like an offensive lineman he also can move he is the footwork of an offensive line he goes post to post really well very athletic controls his rebounds pretty well as well and has a great stick he hasn't been scored on five on five so far that last goal there was a beautiful play he had no chance on it maybe the outside shot from uh from King maybe he wants that one back I'd give it to him cuz King he's one of the best Shooters in the game right now so two really goals that had to be earned and you know if Warren Hill can do that I think Six Nations I think coach tar is going to be very happy with the play of his goer one thing I really noticed as well in that period is six goals in game number one for Marshall King didn't really feel like he was getting into shooting positions all that much and you know might be just him not shooting it enough it could also in my opinion be the defense have been really closing in on him after that first game yeah they were closing the gaps I thought last game they were not getting out the hand to King King was letting it fly the slides were coming in a little bit too late I think here tonight they're closing that Gap they're not allowing him to catch or release they're closing in and that's not just for him for pretty much everyone they've done a really good job whether it is those outside shots closing in or even in the two-man game feel like five on five I have no qualms with what six nation is doing right now they've been absolutely perfect as soon as they take those penalties that's where Victoria has been able to shine and we touched on it off the top the second period was key in game number one for Victoria to take that lead and create some of that space and allow them to have a little bit more Breathing Room going into the third period This is a crucial second period for the Six Nations Chiefs they cannot let their foot off the gas pedal long change this is a big big period for transition I thought Six Nations did a very good job taking away the speed and the youth legs of Victoria in that first period but with the long change they might not be able to unless they're going to sacrifice a little bit of offense have you know those righties leak back a little more and I think Victoria's maybe going to have to cheat a little bit I know you want to play honest defense that drives defensive coordinators and defensive coaches nuts but sometimes you might have to take a chance if there's a loose ball on the ground you got to trust that your gu's going to pick up that loose ball and you can go because I mentioned already five on five goal scoring is coming at a premium right now if you're not going to get your chances on the power play you got to create them in other ways in transition odd man numbers that's where Victoria has to cash in during the regular season in the MSL the Six Nations Chiefs they did a phenomenal job in the second period no Austin STS to work with coming off the bench one thing they can really key in on is that guy coming right off the far door for the right now his shots not sinking for him you can see there missed the net by a decent margin if he can start dialing in that stick that could be a problem for six nations here Shane Jackson trying to skip that one it goes wide Dan Smith trying to get around King inside trying to find Longboat we've seen that facilitation from DNE Smith as that's a one-hander wide by Jackson Smith the way he's able to find that space off of the wall and basically from what I think with Dane Smith is that once he has the ball if you see him he's coming off the corner just go to the net that is a a great Point that's his office he's got one of the most deadly jab steps in the game is they are not having any luck for a team that wears fourleaf clovers on their jerseys the luck just has not been here in game sharp I I get the the pleasure to watch a lot of Lacrosse with Warren Hill in between the pipes with the Halifax Thunderbirds and you can tell how a game's going to go for Warren pretty early in the game he is absolutely dialed right now shot off the arm of aier gets right back Lyall Thompson and Warren Hill he's got quite the motor on him to go and play with Halifax there's a shot he scores Lyle Thompson makes it a 4-2 game Thompson's fifth goal of this man cup and it is just all brute strength skill as he beats his own man creates his own shot that's what good players do they create their own shot that's exactly what Thompson does throws a little bit of a fadeaway jumper for the basketball fans silky smooth and almost had like a one-handed finish with that shot as well think he said Kobe Kobe scor by number four here's J the other way here for Victoria looking a rebound shot and it's underneath hillet on the goal line it stays out oh so close for the Rocks but priolo is able to get the ball gets it up shot that one goes wide rebounds going to be bounced right in front of priolo gets it back to Smith 13 on the shot clock Smith cuts out in front was looking for the pick play there's a shot stopped rebound is going to be picked up here by aier great release by Smith he made that look like he was going down below instead throws the little hitch at the end goes up into the chest pad of rary as he wasn't fooled at all shot right into Hill keeps it in front of him and here come the Chiefs on the transition Kyle rubish he's got Edwards as well rubish inside shot trying to find a little bit of daylight down low but a wriggly a kicks it out don't be fooled Kyle rubish he's a stout Defender but he's got quite the shot too wle skips inside pickup shot he scores great play snip and two of them come off of assist by behind the back passes three points priolo on the near side the Chiefs looking to respond up top for Randy STS back to Lyall Thompson aggressive defense there from Smith Thompson in can't get the shot away rebound goes into the corner Randy STS loses his stick no actually it was the Shamrocks player that lost the stick Lyall Thompson be by the back he scores no he doesn't it went into the net but the official calls it off and the fans are not happy on that one and now a penalty is coming up here to the Chiefs sprinting to the benches aier what a sequence of events there King inside shot by Marshall it goes into the corner it's a fresh shot clock to work with as well as it was Hill that made the save counts as a shot on goal pickup to Jesse King back over Jesse with it inside trying to find pickup in the slot but couldn't get it to him Marshall for Jesse inside quick stick and picking it up here yet again another fresh shot clock to work with for the Shamrocks theyve been really keying in twisting around there as Peterson pick up with a shot knocked ahead and here come the Shamrocks yet again shot blocked in front seven on the shot I thought that hit Hill there for a moment I think it was one of the defenders in front of the net actually were able to deflect it aside and getting in front of that this is going to be an extended the Chiefs but as we've seen a minute could be more than enough for these potent Shooters to get going down low Cody Jameson Randy STS back to Jameson Jameson looking shooting he wires it up top and picked up here by the Shamrocks up the floor goes Deo the chico will hold on to it everybody getting reset 30 seconds to go in the Shamrock's penalty hack there grabbed by pickup nko couldn't get to him in time and Deo will take a look take a shot kicked Away by Hill and he had to Pure oette out of the way there quick on his feet is Warren Hill while Thompson scores second the game for a while he has been on fire in this series too much time too much space for lt4 it's a slow laxidasical change and Victoria's got to do a better job extending out and getting to hands as Thompson one of the deadliest shooters in the game goes bar Mexico for an absolute Beauty and he's got it here again rushing up the floor that's what makes him so special he just scores a huge goal for his team goes out Randy STS gets on the board speaking of one of the most deadly Shooters in the game when Randy STS gets going he's so creative his release point he can rip it from anywhere looking like back it is Syracuse days with the field lacrosse jump shot goes through some traffic beats oleary and the a Chiefs tie their biggest lead as it jumps out to six to3 one thing I'm reminded of Pat is the World Championships last year I felt like Randy and Lyall Thompson really had a synchronized mind as they contributed a lot of goals from each other in that world championship yeah there's so much Chemistry Between the two righties it's an absolute nightmare trying to defend the Twan game with them whether it's indoors Outdoors inside shot it's going to go wide Smith picked it up gets a hack there from Phillips the hands are up there was already a delayed call on the floor against Victoria and I think it's just going to be the one here Andrew eckelstone having a conversation with one of his phenomenal so far I don't know if that's the take you want so early in the shot clock when your offense is really trying to find a uh a Groove shot dunkerly it's in his equipment trying to get it out he does and this has been a great second period for the Six Nations Chiefs we saw it in game one Pat maybe we'll mention it a little bit more during the intermission but there's been a huge difference in terms of the the amount of offensive zone time here for the Victoria Shamrocks in the second yeah it's a great point this second period has been so key for both teams we saw Victoria using it to their advantage but this time Six Nations really taking to their advantage whether it's in transition or or five on five into the corner it goes king with a shot Hill with the save Marshall King can't get a full stick on it it's still loose Martin unable to get possession and Victoria will get the ball back here 18 left on the shot clock under four minutes to go in the second it's a four goal game the chiefs with the lead looking to tie this series go in tight that one's blocked and the Chiefs will move it up the floor five on five this Chiefs team defensively seems virtually unbeatable at times just so many studs back there big bodies Rough Tumble athletic you name it the groups got it all Randy STS will peel back out of the corner looking for some room five on the shot clock it's blocked in front it'll go into the corner and it will be Victoria ball as the shot clock will expire dods leaves it here for Cole pickup pickup inside can't get the shot away what defense there yet again the six Chiefs defense absolutely mobs him in the corner priolo the other way too far there out of the reach of Lyall Thompson and now here come the Shamrocks the other way Phillips shot that able to move his body in that crease Bend back keep the ball out of Harm's Way for such a big big body he's so flexible we'll take another look here at just some of the highlights of Warren Hill yeah Hill has been lights out you call it the King of the Hill that's what they call him down in Halifax and he's been sharp here save after save save after save the acrobatic ones the ones where he just stands tall and then some big ones here down low you mention it you look at Hill you see the way that you know the stature of his body you would not expect him to be able to move as well as he does he is so supremely ath athletic a large body yet we still call him Gumby Smith inside shot and dunkerly makes the save and that's going to skip down the floor it'll Miss but oh here we go a little bit of conjunction at The Junction in front of the Victoria net after the whistle and the horn goes vior as we'll take a look here this is the tail end of this second period that knockdown right at the top of the dotted line there and he just sits on himal and no surprise it's Bennett Smith the be inside the Bonnet of Six Nations he's been such a pest getting under the skin but right now calm cool and Collective Six Nations they hold a 73 lead heading into the third frame and again just to key in real quick actually we're going to send it down to Daryl he's got someone ranks he's got someone down from the Chiefs totally yeah I mean we expected a push back they're a great team uh we got to respect that but at the same time we got to make sure we capitalize when we get those chances and uh we we'll get this game tied up what are some of the things that have uh have been successful for you guys so far I know this uh series is only a game and a half in but what have you guys found successful totally um yeah I mean we have a ton of guys that uh are from are from Victoria and you know we stick together and um you know we uh we we stick together as a team it's scoring by committee on our side nice and as you said that uh I was talking to Marshall about it yesterday and it's a and I'll say it again it's a it's a theme in this man cup guys playing for their home communities you're you're a Victoria boy what does it mean to wear this Crest totally yeah I mean I remember watching a lot of great players come through Victoria plan at the old memorial and uh you know everything's welcome back to game two of the man cup it's the second intermission the Chiefs seven the Shamrocks 3 Mark Perry Pat gregar here up top inside the Ila glad you can join us here on a Saturday night and Pat you take a look at that second period And I wanted to touch on this a little bit more you look at the difference between game G one and game number two and one thing that you really keyed in on on in game number one was the amount of offensive zone time for the Victoria Shamrocks the amount of loose balls they picked up the amount of time that they had to just move the around the offensive zone and really keep a lot of Six Nations Chiefs gassed pretty much by the end of that middle frame tonight completely different story yeah it's been six nations who has really dominated The Possession they've also used transition to their Advantage the second period has been so big for both these teams we saw Victoria win that game yesterday their best period was the second period right now Six Nations up with a 73 lead they won that period 4-1 and a big reason was because of extended possessions but it's also for that defense and for Warren Hill five on five this defense and the way that Warren Hill is playing it is going to be so hard for Victoria to score we saw yesterday a little bit too much time and space for shooters like Marshall King he's a great shooter when you give him time and space he's going to make you pay there is no more of that they're closing gaps they're taking it away and really forcing Victoria to work for their chances just the one goal for the Shamrocks in that middle frame the Chiefs are on a 3-oh run heading into this uh third period let's take a look at some of those goals from that middle frame and again it's the Chiefs continuing you know to take advantage of some of these opportunities and in the first period it was a lot of those in tight chances here ly Thompson in particular he's just wiring these ones he's seeing the opportunity he's taking it you see that outside shot there's Randy STS making his own shot there and then of course this beautiful transition marker from Dan Smith that's just the luxury of this Chiefs team that they're able to give the green light to danne Smith to play a little bit of Defense because he can turn it the other way and score in transition let's not forget we talked about a little a little bit yesterday during the regular season Dan Smith basically was playing a full transition role he had the green light to stay in play but most nights he's going out the back door now they've elected to go more righty strong so he's getting more offensive reps which is great for your team cuz you have one of the best forwards in the game playing but let's not forget he started in the NL playing out the back door he's a great defender and he can obviously make you pay in transition as well one other topic that we really ke in on during that uh during that second period really for the entirety of game two was just the luck you have to have a little bit of luck to have success at this level and the Victoria Shamrocks in particular haven't exactly had the best of luck they've been hitting a little bit too much iron here in the man cup it it's crazy I mean don't want to take away from the and it's not just this game last game as we saw Doug Jameson able to benefit from uh from a post there but both goalies playing really well that's just also going to show you how pinpoint accurate these shooters are sometimes it goes bar in sometimes goes bar out another aspect of this game we saw it at the tail end of game number one but it's really starting to rear its head here in game number two there's been a lot of penalties particularly in the second period a lot of rough stuff as well as these these two teams continuing to build a little bit of that animosity that you kind of expect at this level in a game and a series like this was so much on the line well it's the man cup seven games in 10 days you are going to absolutely hate the opponent wearing the other color against the other side but these are two very aggressive defense very tough defenses and very good defenses at that matter we talk about how many electri pieces up front each team has let's not forget of all the offensive sorry the defensive Allstars on both sides they certainly have a lot of Talent on both ends of the floor we can't forget about the Defenders we talked about it though in that first intermission each team needs to dial it back just a little bit with the extracurriculars I think the refs are allowing them to get away with a lot of the stuff in between the lines but they're really tightening it up as soon as the play's done they're really Keening in on things and the one thing with that too is is that they're being really consistent they're you know they're showcasing they're s they're sending a message that hey this is the line don't cross this particular line that line hasn't been really moving whatsoever here in this man cup no not yet I think uh there there's a little it's tough with the slashes that is always tough for an official to judge but one thing I think here today that they're making evidently clear any of the off ball slashes anything after the ball has been moved they're going to call those slashes they've tighten it up a little bit here but again that's all about game management that's all about making sure the temperatures in between these two teams uh we don't go to a boiling point shots on goal through two periods of play Victoria with a slim Advantage 32-3 it was six nations with 16 shots in the first period to Victoria 15 very tight in that first period you go to the second still pretty tight when you just look at the shots 17 to 14 in favor of Victoria which is saying something considering the amount of scoring chances the Six Nations Chiefs had compared to the Shamrocks well that was the the story last night as well we wanted to wax poetically about the play of Chris rary and we should but it was actually Doug Jameson who had more saves last night so the the this the script flipped a little bit here as well Victoria with more shots but it's been Warren Hill who's just been maybe a little bit sharper than the two goenda tonight he has been sharp indeed as Victoria looking for an early chance in the third period Warren Hill with the save on Peterson that long shot from the Victoria forward and Peterson probably is taking thousands of shots on Warren Hill over the years playing with him in Halifax and morning shoot around practice training camps warm-ups you name it inside Randy starts with a shot and it's going to be stopped there by dunkerly who is going to stay in this game it looks like Chris origlieri getting pulled in that second period yeah I thought maybe it was a little bit of a stop Gap as Hill makes a big save but NOP they're going to give dunkerly the cage here since he's coming he's been very sharp he really has just trying to change the momentum the other way this is Lyall Thompson with the ball three points here tonight Shane Jackson now with it back for nko and dunkerly with the save he puts the glove on it last goal for the Victoria Shamrocks came at the 1529 Mark of that that second period it was Cole pickup shot there from Jesse King is going to be stopped by Hill rebound goes in behind should mention hill during the regular season the extremely rare you should buy a lottery ticket shut out in an8 nothing victory yeah that was wild I wasn't at the game I wasn't watching it but I was refreshing it online and I I I just assumed that something was wrong well Sutton right there for the Chiefs another goal from Lyle Thompson he skips it underneath dunkerly Thompson's got a hatti to make it 8 to three seven goals in the man cup now and he scored from the inside but his outside shot has been sinking here in six nations of the Grand River as Lyall Thompson has been on a shooting clinic and we saw last night what he had that three goals in the third period alone he's got one here maybe the closer out to play here he wasn't able to close it out last night but he got it close we'll see if he has that same third period in him this evening it came down to a final possession last night what will it turn into tonight Peterson knocks as he had the ball save again we're seeing more of this defense from Victoria that we saw yesterday giving up a lot of outside shots that's why dunkerly is having a lot of success not a lot of stuff up top Chiefs are going to have to find a way to get back to the middle of the floor attack that aggressive style of Defense when you see the back of a head a little more back door Cuts attack get that ball down low second game yeah just a pair of assists last game but really asserting is a dominance as now we get the extra attacker for Victoria trying to close the gap it's a fiveg goal difference inside trying to go from behind the cage was Chris wle and he couldn't get it and it looks like we're going to see a little bit more of that six on five as this third period progresses and Six Nations will be just content to try to kill off some clock and pot a few more Cody Jameson turns back one on two too was all over him and Victoria will pick up the ball and dunkerly eyeing the bench looks like he's going to hold back though here for a moment think it was just maybe a little bit too slow of a transition break not enough time on that clock they're going to elect to stay five on five here Wilson over here for Preston shot stopped rebound picked up and up the floor hail Mar pass for Tyson Bell can't get to it a little bit too much starch on that one and dunkerly will pick it up a great hustle play Penalty Box here for Victoria yeah takes away that scoring opportunity draped all over his back brings him down to the turf great scoring opportunity taken away so this lethal power play for six nations look like this possibly could be the nail in the coffin for game two here if they can score Dane Smith up top facilitates it over fle Thompson shots stop by dunkerly what a save by dunkerly he tricky situ ation for Victoria normally they're okay with killing clock right now they can't do it so even when they are on the man down they're not ragging the clock that one goes off the iron but Six Nations picks it right back up fresh 30 to work with here for the Chiefs under a minute to go in the penalty just that little push shot from Randy St so deadly hardly a release at all but it's an absolute bullet Cannon there shot Sundown scores on the r go and a little bit of pushing and shoving after the goal the officials have to step in but a power play goal from lson Sundown puts the Chiefs into double Figures it's 10 to four Sundown up to Five Points in the man cup his first game and that's just how the game of Lacrosse goes he's had so many opportunities on the crease beautiful crease dive we saw him with that one behind the net hitting pipes and then just the easiest one of them all goes off the glass he follows the shot picks it up and an easy score funny how the game of Lacrosse works with bounces sometimes all you need is that one to sink for you well one man goes out of the box another man goes in after that scrum I think it's going to be unsportsmanlike conduct for Larson Sundown who was the latest goal scorer so a power play opportunity right off of that for Victoria looking to respond backhand pass King shot and that is going to be underneath Warren Hill active sticks they're able to get into the lanes and Victoria having to just settle for that outside shot and six nations now going to get an extra body on the floor but they're still going to be down for a minute here Victoria got to get working here quick time is becoming Victoria's enemy here in game number two with under four minutes to go Marshall to Jesse Jesse King fakes to Marshall King that six-goal lead looks like they are wrapping up to tie this series at one game a piece so game five will be needed on Wednesday yeah pivotal pivotal game three you knew six naations would have a push back they were coming out with their hair on fire in that first per period but it was the two Power Play Goals that allowed Victoria to stay in it but as this theme is gone the big Difference Maker has been that second period a little bit of space made by six nations in the third but two games in now this second period has been the most important frame of them all time is up on the clock tending do we see Dylan Ward I don't think so Dylan Ward hasn't played Box Lacrosse all summer long he been competing in the PLL professional field lacrosse league so a almost a completely different game especially when it comes to gold and with the way that these two goalies have been playing I think we see Doug Jameson in between the P but hey it's the man cup crazier things have happened say that again partner under a minute to go Jesse king with a shot that one goes wide and it'll go out of play great catch by the gentleman wearing the Broncos hat he's pumped up for tomorrow for Sunday football he's probably pretty fired up that their the day off is on the Sunday so he can enjoy his NFL I know I will be that one's going to go wide I'll be enjoying it for a little bit my Pats are in tough against the Bengals tomorrow so it's not going to be uh not going to be an easy one though Jamar Chase is questionable so that's what I'm hearing but might be a long year for you but you're okay Ila the man cup is tied at one heading into game three the Six Nations chief Victorious tonight here in game two 10 to four the finals after two games we're all even and we wouldn't have it any other way Victoria with an unbelievable effort in results in game one but Six Nations the defense the goal tending just a little too much for this Victoria offense to handle they get the day off they'll be able to watch the film and come Monday night the pivotal rubber match between these two teams we'll see who can take that very important 2-1 lead a pair of four-point performances from the Chiefs Randy STS and ly Thompson a hatrick from Thompson and Eli mlin who's going to get player of the game from that Trio I mean I'd be looking in between the pipes Warren Hill was pretty pretty pretty good as well if you ask me but I think all those so Cole pickup will get player of the game honors here for the Victoria Shamrocks two goals for him he was outstanding did a lot of the little things as well picking up loose balls set hard for nation CHS number 76 and yes indeed you are right partner Warren Hill the King of the Hill player of the game for the Chiefs 28 stops at least that's what we have on our game sheet here I think it might have been even more than that he was unbelievable in between the pipes and that is such an infectious thing when your goal tender is sharp like that the defense feeds off it when the defense is buzzing it gets the offense going well we got a final shot count it's 47 to 46 in favor of Six Nations Chiefs they take the 104 Victory here in game number two looks like darl Smart's getting ready for a interview floor side with the King of the Hill himself player of the game Warren Hill wiping the sweat off he had himself quite the game and he gets the honor of standing beside Daryl smart Daryl take it away thanks a lot Patty and Mark with me MVP Warren Hill Warren this has to be a good one for you oh yeah it's definitely a confidence booster game and I think uh today we came out ready to go and it was a good game as you settle into a game what's the mindset they it looked like you were really tuned in real early I think it just we talked about keeping it five minutes at a time and I think that's the approach of all season as our team so I think that's all we look forward to not thinking too far ahead don't looking behind us right just five minutes at of time time and while I've got you here there's a lot a lot of people talk just that you and Doug share the duties and what does that do for you a and him I guess but there's this you guys have been friends for so long and it's it's a friendly competition but it uh just wondering about how it makes you a better golender no it's it's like you said it's a friendly competition obviously we both want to be in there but we both have each other's backs and we both support each other and we want to be in there but at the same time we don't care who's in there as long as our team gets the win excellent what do you guys have to do to just keep this thing going into game three on Monday uh get some good food good sleep and uh be ready to go because we know that it's um they're going to this I think when you come to Ontario and if you can split the opening two games you're going to be pleased with that sure you're probably not pleased with the full 60 that you got you have a full day to rest which is going to be key for this team look at the tape see what worked well in game one see what you could do better in game two and come for a full effort in game number three ready to go
