sunshine this afternoon to 84 in Hazard summer is coming back we'll time it out with the weekend forecast in a couple of minutes Madison Tim Thank you new numbers from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association or khsaa are shining a light on disqualifications the group keeps track of dqs for all sports during All Seasons K Kristen Kennedy is combing over their most recent numbers the khsaa keeps track of disqualifications to try and pinpoint areas where they may see bad behavior they've done it before in years past referees have complained that coaches and players are making their jobs harder to do so they increased penalties and they watched the numbers closely the high school football season is underway players are racking up stats for tackles and touchdowns referees are reviewing plays and sometimes disqualifications but the grid iron isn't where we see the most dqs you'll find those on the pitch soccer it is a contact sport I mean it it is there is some rough play in it but also they're playing rules you know if I get two yellow cards it may not have anything to do with unsporting um acts I'm ejected Butch cop is an associate commissioner for the khsaa he's supervises their sportsmanship bylaws soccer players made up more than one out of every three athletes disqualified last school year you can't judge it by that because the playing roles are a little bit different we know the reason for disqualifications vary they can include fighting or punching spitting UNS sportsmanlike conduct and what's seen most in soccer rule violation overall soccer racked up the most disqualifications 226 players and 18 coaches followed by basketball football and baseball more than a third of baseball's dqs were coaches being tossed from a game sometimes they say well I got to get my team fired up you hear a coach say well I I got to take one for the team to get them fired up I don't really buy into that U as a motivating factor on that but for some reason in that sport that seems to be the norm khsaa also breaks down numbers by school Butler County in Western Kentucky had the most 27 followed by Senai in Louisville breathett County and then Anderson County this is a map showing the schools with the most disqualifications cop says a large amount of disqualifications at one school usually means there was a bench clearing incident in those cases each player that leaves the bench is disqualified we've seen the last couple of years more more bench clearing instances whether it's on the basketball court or the football sideline on the baseball diamond we pulled numbers for the last six years but they're hard to compare there were no Sports in the spring of 2020 the seasons were greatly reduced The Following fall and in the spring of 21 but cop says now those numbers are back to prepandemic levels in Lexington Christen Kennedy WKYT kids will no longer be admitted to high school football football games without a parent or adult at some Kentucky school campuses this fall Anderson County High School in Central kentucky is among the schools making that policy change the athletic director says last year they had fights and other problems mostly with Middle School aged kids kids are only required to be with adults when they come through the gate you know if the kids want to you know hang out and get you know get some concessions or or or stand on the fence with a friends that's fine but we want to make sure that the parents are responsible for their children the new student policy also states that if a child becomes disruptive at a game the parent will be removed along with the child thank you for joining us the time is now 6:41 still to come on Mountain news this morning the fight for the White House
