Overcoming Nasty Weather on Baldpate Mountain | Appalachian Trail Thru Hike 2024 Day 160

hello good morning everybody we're coming at you from the trail head we've got a 16 mile day planned with 5,500 ft of ascent it might be too ambitious so there's a place that's 12 miles where we can also Camp if uh it just gets too late in the day by the time that we're there um but other than that it's a little windy out today but it's supposed to be eventually Sunny after this morning so hopefully it ends up being nice the weather for the next few days looks good um yeah that's that's about it what are you guys [Music] thinking everyone's a little tired still waking up early early yeah okay well let's get out there right all right so this is the bald Pate West Peak we're in the clouds it's a little kind of wet and Misty first ladder of the day here we go the wet wind makes this a little trickier than usual yes here's how we get goose down we hold on to the handle and help him walk on down go can set him on that ledge got this got it Bud good job Goose come on goose yay [Music] [Music] all right the next peak of bald Pat's giving us a little weather you see it blowing in it's windy luckily it's not rainy um but it's definitely Breezy and cold uh so we're going to get up over here it'll be about half mile up and then we'll try to dip back below tree line to warm up all right we made it it was so windy getting up here 40 50 m per hour gust it's so much calmer on this side I was getting pushed around by the wind bumblebee here's Bumblebee the caterpillar do you think he'll turn into a bumble butterfly yeah this is how Bumblebees are born oh I see hello good evening we're here at camp and uh we just crushed 16 miles go us go us that was pretty awesome it felt good to do a big day we Haven day we haven't done a 16 mile day for so long it feels like because likeit a minute the the whites are just we're just so crazy MH so yeah this is uh this has been good um what were you guys favorite part of the day okay I'll start uh there was a really cool waterfall that I think I filmed you guys saw earlier that was really neat yes um I was also really proud of us for getting over that super windy Mountain stupid scary yeah I liked the terrain uh after getting over that mountain it was amazing it was like back to normal hiking real Trail yeah real Trail so it was nice to not be climbing yeah cool um how about like a fun thing that people can learn about you favorite ice cream topping topping whoa yeah interesting I really like rainbow sprinkles I think it makes everything way better I'm gonna go with like uh Reese's Cups like crumbles that's good yeah I'm gonna go if it's vanilla ice cream I really like like the groundup Andes mints you just like mint ice cream he's a monster he's a mint monster maybe with some Oreos in there too it's like minty Oreos guess Oreos for you yeah all right well let us know what your favorite is down below and uh I'm sure we'll like all of them so anyways hik on Happy hikers we will catch you tomorrow
