Idaho extends football Head Coach Jason Eck through 2028

When Jason Eck took the job as the head football coach at Idaho, he called the Vandals a sleeping giant. Well, it's fair to say Eck has woken up, Paul Bunyan Eck has gone 16 and nine since taking over the helm in Moscow, that includes a 12 and four record in the big sky. One of the best two year spans in conference play in the history of the program today. E being rewarded for his turnaround of the Vandals football that was four and seven before his arrival, Idaho announcing this afternoon, it has extended a through the 2028 season giving the vandal stability in a very unstable time in college football for e it was an easy decision despite him likely having the opportunity to climb the college football ranks. This wasn't a real uh real hard decision. I thought it was a great opportunity. I think it's always great to be, you know, recognized and have them reach out and say they wanted to do it. We consider this place home. You know, we love the, the house we built here. I got, you know, two sons who are in college here at the University of Idaho. You know, the grass isn't always greener. You know, again, I, I got a tremendous, uh, you know, job here that I love. And, uh, you know, again, I, I'm not, uh, you know, I'm not saying I'm signing a lifetime contract here, but I, I'm gonna be very, very selective if I would ever uh move on from here because I, I realize I have a tremendous job and I like who we're building here. And I asked Eck, how he plans on celebrating today's news. He said he's hosting a team barbecue at his house. The Vandals began at fall camp in late July before opening up the season at Oregon on August 31st.
