the 10 News Weather Authority always watching and tracking for you from the Jes weather center little bit of good news here at 517 the severe thunderstorm warning that was in effect for portions of Carol and Grayson counties has been allowed to expire it's not to say that you're still not getting wet in areas just to the south of GAC right along the Carol Grayson County Line because you are uh but the uh rain has uh lessened the storm has weakened and frankly the worst of the cell is now in North Carolina as we look at the entirety of the viewing area we got a couple of showers towards portions of Franklin and Henry counties more in the way of showers and thunderstorms towards West Virginia very important to note that these showers and thunderstorms are not moving quickly they're moving at a snails pace again today okay so what we're looking at here is the chance for a couple more showers and thunderstorms arriving as we head throughout the course of the evening as these thunder showers in West Virginia are moving southsouth East at about maybe 5 to 10 miles hour most not all but I'm cly optimistic most high school football games will be okay this evening there will be a couple that may be impacted by a little bit of rain and maybe some uh thunder and lightning but most should be uh okay all right so here we go future cast showing that any showers or thunder showers this evening should go by the way side anytime between about 900 and 11: okay it should be a night where the rain ends earlier than last night but just like this morning come tomorrow morning going to have a little bit of fog developing otherwise Saturday starts with Skies partly sunny by about noon 1:00 we're going to start to see some popcorn Thunders showers developing such that by 2 3:00 tomorrow afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms will be the name of the game I think the coverage area of the showers and thunderstorms tomorrow going to be greater than what we had outside today looks like Saturday could be somewhat similar to what we had yesterday and that we're going to have I think a better chance for some strong to severe thunderstorms with a higher concentration of rain and thunderstorms across the region cautiously optimistic that by about midnight tomorrow night most of the rain should be uh gone and then Sunday I think it's going to see a little more cloud cover I think Sunday we're going to be partly to at times mostly cloudy may have a stray shower early Sunday uh but I think there's a better chance for more scattered thunder showers once again developing by Sunday afternoon okay so the afternoon and evening hours Saturday and Sunday look to be the wetest times of the day for us uh through the first two days of the holiday weekend then as we look ahead to Labor Day I think the best chance for rain and thunderstorms on Monday will be in south of us that's where we have a stationary front moisture near and south of this front will Aid in widespread showers and thunderstorms extending from the Carolina South towards the Gulf Coast all right let's do your two-minute drill we've got Virginia Tech and Nashville battling Vanderbilt uh temperatures start in the 80s we'll climb into the 90s as we go into the second half we've got UVA battling Richmond temperatures for the game 90 degrees could have to dodge some uh showers and thunderstorms for that game JMU is at Charlotte temperatures a kickoff up upper 70s going to also have the chance for a few Thunders showers and Campbell visits Liberty kickoff temperature likely uh in the upper 80s right now we stand in the 80s in wivi cooler and Independence 69 82 ronoke 82 alav Vista 81 in Danville so we look into Sunday and Monday below normal temperatures near the Canada Border are going to allow for temperatures to cool off here for us here by next week the heart of the cool air likely arrives for us here Tuesday through Friday with the hottest air next week actually west of us evening Thunder Hour end tonight fog may form lows about 70 for tomorrow 89 is your high with more scattered showers and thunderstorms developing temperatures fall from the whoops let's go back temperatures fall from the 80s s Saturday Sunday and Monday into the 70s Tuesday through Friday not only are we going to be storm free Tuesday through Friday but we're also going to have lower humidity around to
