NFL Media JUST CRITICIZED Tom Brady's BROADCAST PERFORMANCE & Joe Buck RESPONDS!

he's Tom Brady and I'm Kevin burkhard and you're a broadcaster how about that we're here it's been quite a journey but I love being your partner I'm excited as well it's going to be a lot of fun Tom Brady's final retirement meant that the NFL goat will now move on to harder things which is broadcasting games and it's safe to say that the Patriots Legend has not gone off to a good start so much so that he was even criticized the most he has ever been I I don't care get mad at me I don't care it was too much it really was too much it was embarrassing but there is something more to it here and Brady's bad start absolutely does not mean he won't be a great broadcaster the reaction to Tom Brady's debut as a Fox NFL analyst was so overwhelmingly negative that I'm surprised no one suggested Drew bledo should take his job back the general sentiment was snarky to the point that people were even comparing talking to that of a potato which is disrespectful since this is at the end of the day greatest player to ever play the game suffice to say the seven time Super Bowl champion and Fox's $375 million hire replacing the excellent Greg Olen alongside Kevin Burkhart didn't make an instant impact with viewers like Tony Romo did 7 years ago and that shouldn't have been the expectation Brady is a polarizing figure due to his extensive success against the teams many viewers now support those criticizing him before the first quarter of the Browns Cowboys game had made up their minds way before kickoff but when Brady struggled early and he did often they were quick to pounce Mock and label him a bust some seem to relish it forgetting that this is a man who has a history of improving and excelling when doubted listen Brady will be good at this he just needs time but here's the reality he's got a long way to go about 80 yard to reach the end zone and he needs to get there this year since Fox is broadcasting the Super Bowl everything Brady does leading up to that is preparation his strength eventually will be his ability to quickly identify and explain what he's seeing the schemes nuances and intricacies after halftime when the Browns were down 20 to3 he missed a chance to specify what adjustments they needed to make instead saying we'll see if they make adjustments Brady could easily break down plays like Romo did early in his broadcasting career he hinted at what the Cowboys and Browns were doing multiple times but he'll never match Romo's initial frenetic energy Brady's Edge will come from offering genuine insight into what could happen what did happen and why it happened before making real strides Brady must get comfortable in in the booth and to do that he needs a better grasp of the Rhythm pace and speed of a broadcast in that way it wasn't too different from how he felt the first time he stepped on an NFL field as a quarterback Burkhart a seasoned professional often had to prompt Brady to chime in there were long silences where an analyst would typically interject and Brady struggled with cadence pausing every four or five words as if the word weren't coming easily he didn't sound like someone who' practiced on 17 games or worked through 212 preseason matches there were awkward moments throughout the broadcast which turned into a lackluster game which the Cowboys won 3317 when burkart introduced him to viewers Brady responded it's been quite a journey but I love being your partner which sounded more like renewing wedding vows than starting a football broadcast at the end of the game Brady seemed Unsure how to wrap things up by no means is the season over for Cleveland he said there's a lot of football left in this season well yes it's week one Tom even if it is the Browns social media turned Mike pereira's failure to notice Brady's attempted fist bump into a mem worthy moment Patriots fans probably had a chuckle given how Brady's teammates regularly missed his high five attempts over the years to be honest I wonder if Brady's limited preparation was due to NFL restrictions on his meetings with players and coaches because of his pending Raiders ownership this likely added some degree of difficulty and Brady was light on soand so told me anecdotes it's perhaps not surprising but Brady was at his best when talking about the pass rush especially Stars Micah Parsons of Dallas and Miles Garrett of Cleveland he intimidates you Brady said about Parsons it's not just what he does after the play but what he does before it Brady also circled Garrett with the telestrator right before Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott facing heavy pressure and seemingly recognizing the same thing Brady had hit Brandon Cooks for an early touchdown Brady's self-deprecating humor a trademark from his playing days also shown through saying how he is wrong a lot of the time many people didn't even notice this until well into the game a general opinion is that the worst broadcasters are those that are talking so much nonsense or are so insanely biased they distract from the game and Brady just spoke in generalities and didn't offer much new insight like literally all color commentators do also it's safe to say that we're hardly ever going to see another early broadcast career Romo esque commentator again there were some people who defended Brady as well after receiving countless criticisms and pointers from fans on social media and it seemed like the consensus was that he bombed in his first outing after hearing this fellow broadcaster Joe Buck weighed in as an article from New York Post sports highlighted this is a hard job and we all do our piece of it said Buck it's grossly unfair that everybody wants to weigh in after 5 Seconds that's not the way it works Buck indicated that broadcasting isn't just about talking Sports there is plenty of nuance to the profession and it takes time to become one of the best at the craft Buck has honed his skills and is now one of the most prolific broadcasters in the game but it's taken time for him to perfect the art as a former Elite quarterback Brady knows what it takes to work hard to accomplish a goal and he'll certainly put that work ethic into improving as a broadcaster it's hard not to draw comparisons to Brady's playing career his debut as an analyst felt like his 86-yard passing performance in his second career start a 3010 loss to the Dolphins in week four 2001 and as you might remember that season much like this one for Fox ended with a much improved and far more comfortable Tom Brady in the Super Bowl this was the worst he's ever going to be and his identity alone makes him interesting to listen to because his words carry more weight than most announcers there's a reason the whole Sports World tuned in and is talking about him he's only going to get better from here what do you think about Brady's first ever broadcast do you think he will be a good commentator one day let us know down in the comments below and we will see you in the next video
