the noon hour is here check it out and you're locked on to Utah's highest rated most listened to sports radio station it's my station it's my station this is H sson and Scotty G on 975 the KSL Sports Zone [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hands in Scotty 975 the ekl Sports Zone welcome into the program we're not wasting any time as we kick things off on the show let's go up to the hill and welcome in wide receiver Dorian singer kind enough to carve out a few moments for us after practice Dorian how you doing man what's up Dorian I'm doing really good how are you guys thank you guys for having me oh no the pleasure is all ours we appreciate it let's talk a little bit about your path at Arizona then at USC then to Utah what's it been like making this transition to Salt Lake City for you oh it's been really good um the transition in Salt Lake has been good um The Players the community has shown me nothing but love and support so that's been a really great thing coming into Salt Lake so let's talk a little bit about the uh quarterback situation and you starting out fall camp with obviously cam Rising a very established long known quarterback talk about that connection a little bit Dorian how are you feeling about that Chemistry Between You and cam I'm very excited for me and cam to go out there on the field together along with our nine other offensive players um we buil a really good chemistry um on and off the field so I think that's been really good and a really help to our on the field connection yeah had a thousand yard season a couple years ago at Arizona last year at USC for those that are unfamiliar with what you bring to the table and your skill set what are youth fans going to see from you this year oh just a allaround complete receiver who can um run r block High Point the ball just a allaround receiver who who's going to give the team exactly what they're looking for Dorian what was it that brought you to Utah um just a culture uh coach Whittingham um his staff um only a few pieces um move around every so often but majority of the staff is um locked in and it's a family oriented so for my last year I just wanted to come to a family oriented um program you know you've uh you know you've been in the Pack 12 uh your entire career so you've seen Utah you played against Utah what is you know from what you saw from the outside what you thought you'd get when you actually came into the program oh yeah for sure um I I understand why people use the word hate um hate is a strong word when they talk about Utah but obviously outside looking in um now I'm in the inside I can see why just because of the hard nose work that we put in day in and day out so Dorian Scotty and I are excited to see you get back on that 2022 wagon 66 catches over 1100 yards and six touchdowns and then at USC 24 to 289 what were the differences in those two years was it just simply usage between Arizona and USC uh yes sir I would just say the opportunity that I was um given Dorian sing are kind enough to join us right here on 975 the KSL Sports Zone when you look at this offense overall just how good can you guys be this year uh there's really no stealing for us uh we could be as good as however we want to be um we really have a great offense I believe that each position from the front to the back um we're really good uh we have depth as well so if one goes down we have an next-man mentality so yeah I'm really excited for this offense in these beginning stages of Camp Dorian who's getting the better of hoop because as Scotty mentioned you are playing against a very good defense there on your own roster but who's been getting the better of who um it's actually uh days we take it's been days the offense get after the defense then the defense get after offense but every day we're bringing it um when we watch the film and dissect the film there's a lot of good things on both sides of the ball and we're just learning learning and growing making each other better every day that defense they don't mess around in practice do they just like when you were playing them at Arizona and USC they get after it for sure yeah definitely um every day you got to bring your best so Dorian who is the guy across from you that's been putting his hands on you first who's the defensive player that you've been banging against through Camp to this point um there's been a few um Zaya van uh we've been go going at each other um my whole career uh that's probably the most um the most tough defensive back I've went against um in the game and in practice is it is it a bit of a transition when you battled that guy so many times uh during your career at Arizona in USC to then all of a sudden he's he's your brother he's your you know your teammate is that is that kind of a weird transition to make uh yeah kind of uh not really um we kind of joke joke about it uh because um Z actually in my career of that's probably the only defensive back that I really couldn't like get off on so we always joke about it and stuff like that but just learning him every day and stuff has made me a better player and he's obviously longer than me so I can um I just find better way to um manipulate the Defenders so Dorian you start this season against Southern Utah then you R into Baylor and then You' got an instate game up in Logan is there a game on this schedule that you've circled is it Arizona a team that you recently played for is it BYU another instate rival like is there a game that you're more excited for on this r on this schedule uh no not really um I think just taking it week by week because um every team is good um no matter what conference you're in is they're obviously a division one school for a reason so if you look past anybody you can get beat so I think every uh week we're just taking it uh step by step well we appreciate your time thanks for joining us and uh have a great season look forward to catching up with you in here very soon good luck Dorian thank you guys so much there he is Dorian singer right here on 975 the ekl Sports Zone right out of the gate well Zaya vono get him better yeah yeah you know you you play against him that's one thing but you practice against him and that's a whole other thing yeah and people don't understand that yeah iron sharpen is iron and that I don't know if that saying reverberates more than it does in in the world of football when you're practicing against the best it forces you to slowly become the best or you you drop out you lose or year they find a guy that will practice at that level and will perform at that level and so it's uh that I'm sure is getting him ready I had mentioned his 22 stats compared to his 23 stats things just fell off a cliff at USC and I think what when I was going through it he was either the fifth or the sixth I think he was the sixth leading wide receiver at USC and he led the entire Pack 12 the year before at Arizona so he's looking for some type of fit and I got to believe that he'd be the primary outside Target I don't think he'll be the primary receptions Target but I do think he'll be the primary outside Target yeah and and even then you know you start looking at money parks and that relationship he's been with Cam Rising for a lot of years but Cam's got guys that I'm sure he he feels really comfortable with he but all it takes is a few receptions over the top where you feel like your touch match is his stride and you know that play is going to be there singer should still be receiving yards leader probably not receptions leader yeah that's probably keithy don't you think I would guess that would be keithy if keithy stays healthy I would guess that that'd be keithy I just want to uh let's see I'm going to pull up his Arizona numbers from a couple years ago you shared the overall but I'm kind of 66 for 1105 was his I'm kind of curious to know what his uh yeah so he had a 16.7 yard per catch average that's that's a dude that can take the top off well to put that in perspective Devon V who's playing in the NFL right now and and by the way having a great camp in Denver having a great camp in Denver and was Utah's leading wide receiver last year he had a 13.8 yeah per reception average and you said Doran that that year he had 1100 yards at Arizona he was a 16 14.7 last year 12 almost 12 even okay so Devon was at 13.8 and Devon ended up just a hair under 600 yards on the season but when Dorian was really clicking he had six touchdowns that year and he was just Unstoppable in in a lot of moments for Arizona and and and Arizona wasn't great no even if you go to his freshman year he only had 18 catches but they were 301 yards and it was a 16.7 average the next year is when he really blew up 66 catches 1100 yards 16.74% can harness that that's a that's a real big weapon that I don't know if Utah's really had in quite some time one of the guys that I was bummed to see leave and I I get it because the depth is there with Dorian and money and manir and and Landon and you know you get down the list of all the guys that you can Target but I would have liked to see Mikey Matthews back yeah yeah for those of you that don't know Mikey Matthews was went to Cal right he ended up going to Cal and he was the fourth leading receiver but he was number two in receptions he was targeted often but his yards per catch were his average were was down at nine so he was just a possession guy he'd take a lot of those quick hits and third down guy yeah and and and really kept the the markers moving at times but you lose Devon V you lose Mikey Matthews you replace it with Dorian singer you got to up the production for money Parks Landon King's going to become even a bigger part you get Brent keithy back there's a lot of reasons to have optimism about this offense oh yeah tons and you know look he's not going to have 1,00 yards at University of Utah there's just too many miles to feed and as long as you have rant keithy on that team there's that you're not going to get 1100 yards again but if you average 16.5 yards a catch there's no reason he can't have five to eight touchdowns on the season and seven to 800 yards receiving and a nice average and um and certainly some production that's going to tally that resume as he tries to make that jump to the next level it does make me wonder why he couldn't break through USC I know yeah because what you saw Arizona for one reason or the other didn't translate to a Heisman quarterback yeah and that is interesting to me I don't understand why because OB obviously he was a priority of USC to go snag him yeah and I'm sure they paid him oh yeah y I'm sure they paid him I mean they went and got the league leading receiver to put with their Heisman uh hopeful at the time quarterback they had designs to put those two together yeah and they needed somebody to step in for you know Jordan Addison who they lost in 2022 so there was a huge vacancy there at USC and instead it was uh Taj Washington who came up with a thousand yards receiving and then Brandon rice with over you know nearly 800 yards receiving so there were opportunities there and uh but singer just couldn't quite break into that heavy rotation as you mentioned fifth on the team and uh actually sixth on the team in total um he did end up yep and to Washington was really good and brenon rice was really good yes but so so maybe you know maybe that's just two NFL type wide receivers that he just couldn't break through because Brena rice is out with the Chargers I believe and we know that Taj Washington is uh where did Taj Washington Miami I do not know I thought that Miami I thought the Dolphins might have drafted him so I I know that those top two wide receivers were NFL guys but um y Dolphins is it the Dolphins good poll well and I the reason I kind of remember that is kind of remember thinking he was going to be a good fit with Tua but I do think that Dorian has it I think he's got it in the bank I I'm hoping that it wasn't like a headbutting issue or some type of scheme issue or some type of Ling ring issue that they covered up or or what it was for him to finish sixth I mean he finished sixth at 289 yards and and this is a a year that you you had nearly 4,500 yards thrown from a Heisman yeah Trophy winner yeah so I've got a ton of Hope and then there's this little sliver of reservation of okay but let's let's see it let's see him re-engage to the 2022 guy just a little bit doesn't need it it it doesn't need to be 1100 yards be nice but and it won't be like you said Utah has not had a thousand yard receiver in I I can't remember how many years can't remember who it even goes back to I know we always reference it but it goes back we referenced it so many times I remember this2 or something like that 2013 it goes back away it just doesn't happen was it Anderson wasn't that far was it concade uh was at 890 and then you got keithy with 611 uh 2020 doesn't count Britain cvy had uh let's see keithy with 620 back in 2019 2018 Britain cvy led the way with 637 uh Darren Carrington nearly got there in 2017 with 980 but not quite that was the drop 2016 Tim Patrick with 711 then you go Brittain cvy in 2015 with 519 2014 kayn clay led the way with 523 and there you go Drees Anderson yep 2013 with 1,2 yards yeah just barely broke it just barely got there it doesn't happen at the University of Utah and uh personally if if if I'm a Utah fan I'm not exactly wanting to see it I'd rather see a really nice combination of two 800 yard plus running backs oh yeah and then maybe a 800 yard tight end and an 800 yard wide receiver you re the the you have to go back to 2009 to get back to somebody who comfortably got over a thousand yards and that was David Reed who had 1188 wow that's really going back 2009 nine yep all right hands and Scotty let's get to a starting lineup we're talking University of Utah so let's stick with the UTS starting lineup right now 975 the KSL Sports Zone this is H and Scotty g go lineup is set and it's time to kick off the show with the biggest topic of the day this is the starting lineup on 975 the KSL Sports s first of all it's a credit to our players and our assistant coach Coes the way they've competed through the years and been consistent year in and year out and so that's a sign of respect from the media that hey you know Utah is going to be you know bringing it every week now on the other hand it doesn't mean one thing as far as our uh success or lactor of this fall you got to go out and play them one at a time every single week as the as the old adage goes and so as long as our guys can keep that in mind and we as coaches I guarantee will do a good job of making sure they don't get caught up in you know the old reading your own press clippings type of thing and all that stuff it's Kyle Whittingham back at Big 12 media day when H and I sat down with him by the way starting lineup brought to you by Mountainland Supply where the pros go for plumbing landscaping irrigation agric agricultural irrigation hbac parts and the whole shebang water runs through it mountainlands got your back find a location near you at Mountain land.com so coach's poll came out last week Utah was ranked 13 today the AP poll came out enhance UT ranked number 12 um I had a conversation with somebody earlier today who need deep in the uh uh TV side with uh ESPN and uh he was asking me about University of Utah and BYU and kind of getting some landscape of those two teams and I said well Utah should be pretty good he goes yeah uh we think they're going to be really good and the you know he was telling me that he sits in a lot of these early production meetings where they identify teams that like okay we got to spend a lot of time on this team we got to spend a lot of time on this team and spend a good chunk of time on this team because right now ESPN is planning on Utah being in the college football playoff and their early season coverage is going to indicate that so plan on a lot of national love coming University of Utah's way whether Kyle Whittingham wants it or not because he loves that Underdog role uh they're looked at as the team that's going to come out of the Big 12 and represent that conference and be part of that initial 12 team college football playoff now whether that happens who knows but there's a lot of Talking Heads out there and a lot of people that believe the Utah is going to be that team and it's hard not to buy into that when you look at the depth and the talent that they have it comes with that caveat if they stay healthy but hands if they stay healthy there's no reason why this team isn't one of those final 12 at the end of the end of the season so I would say that the four games that we currently have times in television 4 probably represents what you're saying because they've got two fox games Fox Mothership Games second game out of the gates against Baylor and then the last game of the season against Central Florida both of those have already been scheduled the kick times and they're both going to be on that main Fox affiliate so that's really big and then the one conference game outside of Central Florida that's been announced was Arizona State and that's on ESPN that's currently on ESPN the mother ship and that's just Arizona State so I got imagine this Oklahoma State game and this Arizona game you know that's games four and games five that's game one and game two of their actual conference slate because Baylor is the non-conference this season um but those two games number 17 Oklahoma State and number 21 Arizona have not currently been scheduled but I've got to imagine both are going to be given those Prime Time spots oh yeah because you want to put Utah on high alert you want to put the nation on high alert you want to make sure that you're if that's the direction you're going that you're putting them in front of everybody's eyes that you possibly can and that's great for Utah and that's great for Utah's fan base it's great for KY Woodham great for recruiting great for everything that goes along with it uh they really tried to build that program they add a couple more recruits over the weekend um I mean Kyle's got a rolling nothing yet uh about the Utah Southern Utah broadcast that I've heard of I know we've got a Utah Southern Utah kick time at 7 pm but I don't know probably what ESPN Plus on that that would be my guess they drop them on the SPN plus but the other one that's going to be interesting is to see what they do with the Rivalry game yeah what they do with that Utah BYU game because we we don't currently have a kick time or an affiliate listed for that but that's another game that they could Circle and highlight but he said that they're he said the ESPN is planning accordingly yes this is a guy that would know this is a guy that would know he sits in a bunch of production meetings I've talked to him forever he's been a good friend for a long time and he said that they sit down in a production meeting and several production meetings and they identify okay who's our early season teams that we're keeping close eyes on and that we will spend good chunk of time on our coverage uh their TV coverage whether it be game day whether it be the daily shows whatever the case is um and Utah's been circled and identified as a team that they look at as hey look if this team goes on the run that we expect them to we got to be prepared we got to have the footage we got to have the interviews we got to have all the Insight we got to have the talking heads up to speed on these guys we can't be caught unaware of who Utah is and I don't think there's any way possible that that's going to happen because Utah is on everybody's radar right now and I think Utah fans probably think that their team should be ranked a little bit higher than 12th or higher than 13th um I think that's in a pretty pretty good spot actually highest rank Big 12 team and all they did with the AP is they flip-flopped LSU and Utah so LSU was number 12 in the coach's poll and Utah was number 13 and they just flip-flopped those two outside of that there's only one other positional change and that was flip-flopping Michigan and Penn State in the in that top 15 everything else is exactly the same so moved Utah above LSU and that's about it with the AP ranking outside of that the Big 12 remains with five top 25 ranked teams they did move three of those five up at least one notch so the AP is reflecting the Big 12 just a little bit better or in a little bit more positive light than the coaches poll I do think that ap's more reliable in a in a ranking yeah I mean position I I I agree with you on that one because these guys take it a little bit more serious usually in the coaches poll and I've talked to enough coaches what they do is they give their poll to uh or their their you know rankings to their to a graduate assistant or to the Sid or somebody say hey take care of this somebody in their sports information I don't want to deal with this just don't screw it up don't make me look bad I've never heard of a coach actually doing no I haven't either honestly but I will tell you that those for the most part the sports information directors they do have a pretty good feel yeah you actually probably want them doing it more than the coach yeah honestly yeah you bring up a good point yeah they do have a pretty good feel and they know direction or you could be like our friend Gordon Monson and give his Heisman vote to his like 12-year-old daughter oh boy did didn't didn't they rip it from him as soon as they found that out I think when he went public with that I I think he may have lost his vote well I think he did that on purpose but again he didn't want the vote but again you give your ballot to the most qualified person in the house and that would be the case there with Gordon she was good at tennis know that beat the crap out of me this is 975 the KSL Sports Zone this is this is DJ and PK joined Now by Mitch Harper the Cougars have many questions we had a player tell PK and I yeah the quarterback race feels like it's getting tighter are we getting questions resolved here or are we getting more questions I think that this quarterback battle for BYU is pretty even but I I give the edge to Gary bannan is he going to be a guy that gets BYU to eight or n wins I wouldn't Bank on that right now but I think that he's good enough to get BYU to fix and he's shown some playmaking ability in Camp and by just hasn't had any of that since they've been a big 12 member and that's what they desperately need at that position is they need a guy that's going to take care of the football he's going to deliver some explosive playmaking ability and at times bothan and Shone that and I think that that's why I'd give him the edge right now heading into week three of Camp catch DJ and PK mornings from 6:00 to 10 on 975 the KSL Sports Zone is any part of the show every moment of every show is available in podcast form by searching Hans and Scotty on your favorite podcasting platform or online at KSL sports.com this is H Olsen and Scotty G on 975 the KSL Sports Zone hen Scotty 97 5 the KSL Sports Zone season hands you and I were texting earlier today let's just get this thing going already yeah get this week over with then you get to week zero you get a little college football the end of next week and then uh then all hell breaks at least after that then it's go time yeah then we're rocking and rolling what are we at number 16 15 today 15 today in our top 60 and 60 number 15 so yeah we're down to the uh we're down to the home stretch here folks number 15 in and it gets real today I actually think um number 15 is right about where it should be yeah yeah I don't have an issue with this one I've got no issue with it we've had some issues with the last three or four but no issues with this one I I think that this is going to be in fact I was just going through the top 15 this morning and I from this point on I don't have a ton of gripe I feel pretty good about it from 15 on it's looking pretty decent yeah yeah you know and that's look we're going to have some issues you know in the 30 to 20 range and 30 to 15 range people are going to get a little salty and look I'm sure you know we'll look at Twitter and people will get a little salty over a lot of these things but at the end of the day not a lot to really argue about hey uh we talked a little Utah in the first segment um and just to add on to it Kyle Whittingham at the end of practice today said that uh he's named his number two and that's Zach Wilson or not Zach sorry Isaac Wilson yeah so Isaac Wilson is now your number two at the University of Utah so if a bit of a surprise to some because I think some thought that that the transfer quarterback Huard was starting to make seemed like there was a little bit of smoke there yeah there's a part of me Scotty and we've done this over the years there's a part of me that feels like if in game game one there was a hiccup it would probably be hu if it if it's just a a hiccup yeah and you need and you need somebody that can come in in a pinch but if we're talking about long term if we're talking about a season then maybe you go with Isaac but I don't that that's still tough I think I would flip plop that maybe a little bit and go Isaac in a pinch it just to and if it was a season if if if Isaac struggles a little bit I don't give him much of a leash and I go with a guy that's got a little bit more experience but I'm trying to think like Kyle too yeah because Kyle knows how good this team is right now he's all he would do is go with the quarterback that turns it over the lease yeah exactly and just be like I'm look let's keep it in the hands of our defense and our special teams and hold on for dear life on the offensive side and try to run the out of the football right because you can't let this season hinge on cam Rising no if you're Kyle Whittingham if you're Andy lwig if you're this offensive staff if you're Jim Harding and you're this offensive staff you're not sitting there thinking it's all riding on cam Rising we got to have him it's if you're thinking that way then good luck yeah it's that's just not how it's going to go you have to be thinking okay wor wor case or bumps in the road or and you got to have all of these little things ready to go because when they rear their ugly head and and and you might be right maybe it is a hiccup it's maybe if it's a hiccup it's Isaac if it's or it's or it's hward or however you want to go back yeah I can't imagine that if there was a major issue that Isaac Wilson would just be given the Reigns but but maybe maybe when you're announced number two maybe that's the whole plan it's just a true freshman that's really you know but you go back to Tyler Huntley and since then it blew all of us away I mean you were the one that said hey Tyler's going to be the guy and I think a lot of us were like really Kyle's going to go Young on a position like that but he did because he said ultimately the talent wins out over experience and if he feels like Isaac Wilson's got the talent he'll take him over the experience at least by what he said today so it's tough it does feel like a very unile move but once you go back and look I mean look he started an offensive lineman as a true freshman last year yeah and he's gonna start another offensive lineman as a as a freshman this year so in Kaleo maybe back in the maybe you know we we're we're stuck in the old Kyle era when Kyle's already moved on yeah to rewarding hey look I don't care if you're a freshman or a senior I'm going to play the best dude out there well it would come back to what did I do for Isaac you know if I had to Wrangle up 250 Grand to beat out Oregon and I'm looking at this freshman who's been developed since he was born yeah and has shown it in Camp and I'm like our boosters are raking out cash and this kid has been developed and we took a flyer and oh man you hate to think that way but it's the reality of the world now isn't it well my guess is you're paying Isaac Wilson more than you're paying Huard that's my guess because probably buy a sizable amount yeah you go out and you get the best quarterback in the state yes it's going to cost you it's G to cost you and and I don't think Kyle Whittingham is organizing his starting or his depth chart based off of what they're paying guys but there would be in the back of your mind like geez man we're putting 250,000 in this guy or we're putting in this I don't know what I have no idea on Isaac Wilson frankly I don't even know if I want to know I don't know if I want to know me sick I don't know if I want to know either but Utah's situation is is it's it's interesting because you've got the the main guy in cam Rising who's got years of starts and then you got guys that have you know question marks that are throwing all around him and Isaac Wilson and Rose and you you you go down the list now hu's got some experience but there's just not a ton of experience and then on BYU side of things you've got four guys that have starting experience starting D1 experience now they're all in flux and they're all in question in some of those starts but every one of them rlof had starts at BYU borget had starts at Western Michigan hillstead had starts at Utah State boy we completely forgot about okay not we I had completely forgotten about boret yeah I completely spaced him it was always about the three-man race with hillstead obviously you know behind rlof and uh Bohanan but yeah you got another guy in there that can mix it up you can't forget about Tron porette because he has got a couple of years of experience in a a really nice offensive system he's a transfer out he's still got two years to play he's 6 foot two Scotty and he's a full 6'2 uh I got to put my eyes on him earlier in Camp and he's a full 62 and he's a he's a nice broad should guy he's he's big kid so tracon boret is somebody that everybody should be paying attention to because my guest is he's pretty solidly planted on that BYU depth chart so you've got and then I think I mentioned bannan with of course his starts you've got four guys got starting experience yeah but you don't have one that's that's really blowing it up as a quarterback as a starting quarterback I mean bohannan can point to a big 12 Championship but also look at his numbers I mean they yeah yeah it was the things around him exactly although I do like a lot of things that seen from him early parts of Camp I I do like him um It's just tough because you can't look at any of them and say wow they were they were in a Heisman conversation or they were in a a conference MVP conversation colani doesn't need to tell us I mean I would look I'd love for him to hop on the air and say you know what I'm going to come on hands in Scotty on Friday afternoon at 1:30 and announce who my starting quarterback is I would love that probably not going to happen happen but what's the timeline in which you think at least internally they need to make a decision on who that starting quarterback is it's this week it has to be right yeah it's this week it's this week because then like I would even say like Wednesday of this week but at least by Friday it's this week because after this week then you start a bit of Southern Illinois but you're also doing you know you're preing preu preps I mean it's not that you're over overlooking Southern Illinois but you're it's this week isn't there and you've always talked about that moment in Camp where it's like okay everybody was participating everybody's getting WS everybody and then there's that moment where it's like okay guess what you this group goes over here because you're the ones and the twos and then those guys sorry but you're going way over to the other side yeah the look Squad goes what two three weeks into Camp two weeks two and a half weeks so we're coming up on that yep that decision needs to be made um that that's got to be a miserable time for a kid that's right there on the edge KN Aaron rodri and you know look people are are gonna feel the way they're going to feel about Aaron Rodrick and his quarterback management to this point with with this group with this particular group I just need to keep reminding people that he's got two drafted quarterbacks over the last four years is that right yeah two drafted quarterbacks over the last and jar four years yeah jiren and 23 and Zach in 21 yeah so that's four years right yeah yeah it works yeah I'm in there it's in the pocket you got it so it's you can't get overly maniacal about it you've got to just take a step back and say all right well he knows quarterback Talent knows how to manage quarterback Talent he knows how to build quarterback talent and it's crazy how for quickly we all forget what coaches do yeah you blink I mean he's had one season without an NFL draft pick in in the last four and that was Jake redav last year and that was largely because a guy that went into the league and we just saw him him yesterday it dealt with an injury at whatever it was game seven or or game eight yeah now for one reason of the other slovis it never was it wasn't clicking anyway though it didn't pan yeah but slovis looked decent last night he looked decent last night in his whatever two or three series that I got to watch him yeah but I'm hoping that rodri can spot it sooner than later my gut tells me that he already has that just knowing him I feel like he's probably already got it circled but he's playing it really smart like he should and keep it a violent competition and keep it very very competitive between the two to where they have no idea like I don't know are you qb1 has he said anything to you no well then I guess we better prepare like we're qb1 until we aren't yeah and then keep preparing like we're qb1 because we might be in week two but you know I just trying to connect the dots trying to put the puzzle pieces together you go back and forth with bahanan and redoff but I said this about a week ago week and a half ago best case scenario for BYU in my opinion is that banan surfaces as your starting quarterback that's your best case scenario because he's he's got all the tools around him and that would tell me he's totally healthy a th% healthy that would tell me that rodri feels good about his running ability that rodri feels good about his usage and knowledge of the offense I think best case scenario for BYU would be Gary bannan as your starter play to that EXP experience the guy's been there he's done it he's played games on a huge stage yeah he's played big games in the Big 12 yep he's been to these venues yeah I I would agree with you on that 100% all right 1249 hands and Scotty what you may have missed coming up next uh we're going to start to take a trip around the Big 12 uh with some of the teams that BYU and Utah are going to face this year uh we're going to start with Colorado coming up at 105 so we'll take a closer look at the Buffs at 105 Brian Fischer will join us coming up at 20 5 it's all right here on 975 the KSL Sports Zone 3 2 1 it's the 10th Annual top 60 and 60 get your college football fixed every day at 1:30 as the Zone counts you down to the locked on to H ssen and Scotty CH that's right on 975 the KSL Sports [Music] Z he mama said the way you move going make you sweat going make you [Music] Gro shake that make you burn make [Music] you baby that way watchic drip can't keep away [Music] wrapping up the noon hour Hansen Scotty 975 dkl Sports Zone Jake that that door that door's going to get you what happened to his snag his backpack yeah they old don't let it hit you on the way on the butt on the way out isn't it crazy these early weeks in Camp you go into camp and you've got all these realistic perspectives and ideas like ah well it's going to be hard to play and then you get aoup couple weeks into camp and you're like I don't know yeah I think they got answers yeah well is it like that up in Logan well yeah I went up uh and uh was at their scrimmage on Saturday and uh by the way peeling didn't bring a hat so the old dome's be starting to peel a little bit got a little color got a little got a little sun over the weekend but um uh it's it's interesting because the offense was mowing especially for the first three quarters of the of the scrimmage offense was just mowing up and down the field offense looked phenomenal and so you're like all right offense and that was running it petress and hey I'm telling you Bryson I'd heard that Bryson had been playing well Bryson was spinning it man good pig farmer looked good um and uh so both those guys they've got a load of weapons they've got wide receivers they've got two really good running backs two really good young running backs and uh that offensive line is much improved so you're thinking all right offense is clicking the problem is when you see something like that you also realize oh well wait a minute the flip side is maybe that's because the defense who's trying to stop him isn't that good and then the defense started to Bow up there in the uh the back end of the scrimmage but um when they you know you do your ones and your twos and you work your down you work your way down and then you end the series maybe some Red Zone work with the ones again in the twos and uh defense started to shore up a little bit there at the end but uh tell you what there's there's there should be a lot of optimism offensively for the University of Utah but I was joking with somebody that I was sitting there watching it with I'm like first part of that scrimmage I was like I don't know how many wins this team's going to have but I might be taking the over in every game this year for Utah State because uh they they have an opportunity to score a lot of points this year Bryson Barnes had some good games last year you know he got wins over Cal he got a win over USC got a win over Arizona State put up 28 points against that number five Washington Husky defense so he had some good games he also had some games where you felt like he was a bit disconnected but I if if I'm Spencer petus I am not taking an eye off the rearview mirror for five seconds no no because I think Bryson is probably closer on the rear than we would all guess is would that be accurate uh I've not heard that from the coaching staff and if Blake Anderson was still the coach there I would disagree with you on that but with the new coaching staff well not a new new head coach who's realizes that he needs to win yeah to have a reasonable shot at holding on and taking that interim title off if I'm him I'm like hey look I don't care what where you played I don't care Iowa Big 10 I don't care if it was glendell Community College it doesn't matter if you're going to help me win I'm playing you and so if petus comes out and he's not accurate and he struggles early I don't think drying Waits a moment to give Bryson Barnes an opportunity now that's just me speculating I've not heard that from Nate drying because he knows he knows Barnes is a gamer yeah is a gamer man to say Bry and Barnes will Pitchfork you he will he he will stab you with that Pitchfork and not even think twice he's that type of dude and it won't even be his brother running into the Pitchfork no he'll be the aggressor he'll actually won't be out of self-defense like some people one other quick thing and what you may have missed BYU basketball has released their non-conference schedule under first year head coach Kevin young and I bring this up only because Kevin young and BYU basketball I think has hit an all-time high for excitement in my years on air yeah I've never seen it this level same so Kevin young has got everybody whipped into a fervor and they announced that Tuesday no November 5th will be his first head coaching duties now he's going to have a scrimmage before that with a big no Namer but Tuesday November 5th against Central Arkansas will be his first go at things and there's going to be 11 games that will be non-conference games and they're going to be in San Diego for a couple of them against the r the ratty children's Invitational and they'll have one at Delta Center they moved that Wyoming Game to Delta Center instead of the Rowdy children is it rat r r a d y I just I don't know oh I don't know either it's uh it's the children's Invitational that that they do in San Diego so then they go into their 20 game conference schedule and there there is a bunch of nobodies on this list for them to play the only chance for them to play somebody really big is is at that Invitational they might see Purdue or they might see NC State um the the best ranking that they'll see non-conference is Miss and they see Old Miss in San Diego but no real Road game challenges I think that I think this is a team that realizes we're going to get challenged in the Big 12 yeah we can get you know your day your days of having to play a tough non-conference to get considered for an at large you left those in the West Coast Conference well gone so yeah I mean they're scheduling like a power four team does now like a bunch of Nob buies and then realizing that you're going to be tested in a big way come the conference schedule right here on the Zone looking for the latest on the Jazz Utes cougars and agies we've got you covered this is H Olsen and Scotty G on 975 the sports Z he was born in the summer of his 27th year coming home to a place he'd never hands in Scotty 975 the KSL Sports Zone as we start to take a tour around the Big 12 some of the teams that you'll see Utah and BYU play this year start with the Colorado buffal joining us now Brian how beat rider for the buffalos and uh the for the buff Zone and the Boulder Daily Camera uh kind enough to join us Brian how you doing man hey Brian I'm doing well how you guys doing doing well what's it like covering Dion Sanders and the circus and the drama that comes along with that well there's never a dull moment and uh you don't know what day today is going to look like so um it's great I'm glad you don't work with CBS uh Brian yeah me too because apparently that's a no-o Zone were you in the in the building when he kind of went sideways last week yeah uh I was there uh you know for the press conference and you know I some of it I understood some of it I didn't you know he the one exchange with the Denver Post reporter um I I'm actually surprised it took that long for that exchange to happen just because some of the the negative things that that reporter has you know written about the Buffs but um the CBS thing really surprised me I nobody knew what in the world CBS did to you know make him so mad and especially to take it out on the local guy was surprising so do we know now has it come out well I I've heard that it has something to do with the way they've reported on the legal stuff going on with his son Shilo oh okay oh um you know some people put out there that he was mad that CBS ranked him like the number 15 coach in the Big 12 but that's not it at all I don't think he cares about that stuff it's more I think it's more about how they've reported about Shiloh so Brian early parts of Camp I mean the hype jumps and the Sanders family knows how to promote and obviously Colorado grabbed headlines early parts of last season early season Camp is the hype is the excitement is it Justified at this point well we don't know because we haven't seen any of it um you know we're not allowed to watch any of practice and so um you know all we get is the hype and you know what they tell us in press conferences and so you know they tell us things are going really well so we're not really sure yet um they also show a lot of you know videos from practice but it's obviously going to be the you know some of the best plays that go on so it's hard to know we think we're going to get to see a practice on Friday so I'll maybe know a bit more then but I I do think that this team is a better team than they last year I think that they're going to be a much improved team but as far as actually seeing it we haven't seen that yet is there an increased hope and because that's I think all that you really can go by now since you haven't been able to watch practice that they'll they're able to protect the quarterback a little bit better because uh obviously that was a major issue last year yeah you know and the one thing that you when you can't see it you have to kind of go off what people say and you know you tried to read between the lines and how are they talking about and you know one thing about the offensive line is I look at how they talked about that group last year compared to now and you know even coach Prime you know had some concerns about the offensive line this time last year that he would Express not not overly but you could tell in his tone that there there was some concerns U and they've been nothing but you know heaping Praise on that group uh this fall camp and saying how much more improved it is you know how there there's a bunch of dogs in that group and things like that so uh just the way they talk about of that group is night and day from last year so we'll see if that translates to the field I've been talking about BYU's Big 12 schedule because they see all five of the now AP Top 25 ranked teams and the top five ranked teams in the Big 12 and there were no favors given for Colorado and their schedule either they they see all five and they see two of them on the road they do get three of them at home Kansas State Utah and Oklahoma state but talk about this schedule you once you get past North Dakota state which isn't going to be overly easy and then Nebraska which is that crazy rivalry game and at Colorado State this year talk about the just the strength of that schedule that's in front of Colorado yeah it's tough you know CU and BYU are two of only three teams in the conference that play all five of those teams other one being Arizona State so um the no favors for them but yeah that that non-conference is not easy North Dakota State um you know most people that have follow college football know their history they've got a a pension for beating FBS teams and so and and they don't get blown out I mean the last time they played one was Arizona a few years ago and I think it was a a one- score game so uh that's not going to be easy and then two rivalry games on the road and they haven't been to Fort Collins since 1996 uh so Ram fans I'm sure are excited to get them up there and you know Nebraska you know cu's 3 and0 against them since they both left the Big 12 years ago you know Nebraska fans going to be itching to get that one up there so it is a tough three- game slate before you even get to the Big 12 Travis hunter gets a lot of the Love on the defensive side and for good reason just you know obviously tremendous player but tell us a little bit about BJ green and and uh and and what he brings to the table because he's getting a lot of preseason accolades as well yeah really good player and I think you know I don't know the you schedule in recent years but I'm sure they've seen ASU and probably face BJ green you know really good player that I think is to me the key to the whole uh defensive adjustments they've made this offseason I think he's the best player they've added uh you know he's getting a lot of love and I think it's Justified I mean he's he's kind of destroying the offensive line at times and there was actually one video where uh he was doing a drill and you know Warren Sapp is a graduate assistant with a defensive line and he actually knocked Warren Sap down during during one drill so um you know he's he's kind of uh making some noise in Camp and and everything you hear is that he's as advertised did Dion make any changes on his coaching staff yeah he made quite a few you know there's new offensive coordinator new defensive coordinator a couple other different I think it's six uh new either new staffers or they're in new spots so it's actually more than half the coaching staff is different from last year give us a couple of ideas of the coaches that he's brought in to Phil and maybe your thoughts of that hire yeah well you know Pat germer um is the offensive coordinator longtime NFL coach that you know has been a head coach in the NFL and you know fans around here are a little bit scarred because his most recent job before CU was offensive coordinator with the Broncos which didn't go well but I kind of look at that and say well the Broncos were kind of a mess anyway I don't know how much I'd put that on Shermer but uh he gets along really well with shador Sanders and that's a huge key uh you've got to get along with the quarterback especially when he's the head coach's son that helps uh so they get along and that seems to be a good mix right now and then Robert Livingston the defensive coordinator firsttime coordinator at any level but he's been in the NFL the last Dozen Years with the Bengals uh coaching defensive backs and everything we hear fans or not fans the players are excited about him and what he brings to the table and just kind of that NFL mindset so we hear good things but you know I think there's some positives to look at and also some question marks with both those coordinators what's the next step should we saying ERS needs to take um you know obviously Dynamic player should be a high NFL draft pick but if you were to point out two or three things are like he's got to be better at this going into this season what would those be well number one I would say he's got to be better at at avoiding some sacks and you know he was the most sacked quarterback in the country last year which a lot of it's the offensive line but not all of it you know 52 sacks and I would probably I don't know the number but you know you could put a a portion of those on him you know for not getting rid of the ball and you know he could have got rid of the ball earlier thrown it away something like that um so he's got to get better at that and I also think you know some of the Run game is on the quarterback to you know you know call an audible and get into the right Run play and things like that and they were terrible at running the ball last year and they never committed to it I think that he's got to do his part to help get that run game going because if they don't get a run game going I think it's gonna be real tough uh to be good offensively this year great off am am I mistaken thinking that the top three rushers from last year all transferred I know I know uh Dylan ended up at Kansas State because I was putting together a roster and I saw his name I thought geez but did all three of them transfer yeah they actually all five scholarship Running Backs from last year are no longer here so uh they the only running back really that's back from last year Charlie offerall was awarded a scholarship in the spring but he was a walk- on last year and had two carries uh but the other four scholarship guys um you know one of them is a true the guy here in January and he's the second longest tenure back because the other three all arrived at the end of spring oh jeez does that give you concern and or does that make you pause and and worry or do you feel like they can install those running backs and get them up to speed and and was there one in particular because I don't remember a running back signed at Colorado that made a lot of headlines no uh there's I like the talent but it's totally unproven and especially in the Big 12 uh where I mean it's loaded with running backs as you guys know and you know bigname running backs and you know so Carell's got probably the most no-name running back room but you know a guy like d Hayden he ran for 500 yards as a as a backup at Ohio State two years ago as a true freshman he was the number three rusher for them then last year they chose a red shirt him and he only got into a couple of games because they were so deep um so I think there's a lot of potential there I mean Ohio State fans were upset to lose him they thought he was going to be a three and out NFL guy uh so I think there's some Talent there Isaiah August Dave came from Arkansas and uh finally got a chance at the end of last year and lo looked really good had a 100 yard game and then they got a couple of talented freshman so I think there's talent but yeah there's concern because we don't know a how much they're going to commit to it and B how good these guys really are because none of them have ever been a starter in college football is the juice there in the community with this team as it was last year at this time or is the is apathy kind of set back in or where where where's the uh where's the Buffalo fans on this team going into this year it's there I wouldn't say it's quite the same level as at this time last year but it's definitely there um apathy is not there yet you you go back to two years ago it was the most apathetic fan base I've ever seen but um it's still there but I think there's a little more caution going into it after going 4 and eight but you know CU never sold out games really before last year uh they've already announced two of the six games are sold out for this year and I imagine that the others are going to be sold out at some point too so um I I think the juice is still there it's just not quite the level it was a year ago at this time two really solid backers uh from last year's Pack 12 run uh were Bentley and Dominic uh Jordan Dominic are both of those backers back or did one of them transfer out of Colorado uh uh Dominic actually graduated but Bentley is back okay all right I wasn't sure if if Dominic had another year of Eligibility but Bentley is back yeah he is back and Dominic's actually playing up in the CFL right now but but Bentley's back and had a really good second half of the year last year and played really well and is probably one of the leaders on this defense this year overall you've covered this conference for a while I know that uh Utah fans are feeling pretty good about their chances uh in the Big 12 but overall give me your thoughts on this conference and how you think this plays out yeah you know I picked the youths to win it um I would also put Oklahoma State up there and you know I think that it could be one of those two but I think it could also be Kansas State it could be Kansas Arizona and I even look at a second tier of teams that you know a UCF um even a Colorado if things go well that um I think there's a lot of teams that can compete for this big 12 title so I think it's pretty wide open you know when Brett ymark said last month that we're the the deepest conference in in America I think he's right I don't think it's as topheavy but I think it's got to be as deep as any conference in the country and um I legitimately think there's nine 10 teams that could compete for the title is is Colorado happy being in the Big 12 yeah I think they they are especially with the stability you know more than anything they didn't have that obviously With The Pack 12 and um you know and it's different for them than some of the other teams because they're they're sort of going back home they know they know this conference a little bit certainly it's a lot of different teams but they know the landscape a little bit they know a lot of the teams in here so I think that it's some comfort but fans like it I think they're excited about it hey I look I know that Colorado will probably win this game and they should win this game but if I'm an athletic director never in a million years do I do I schedule North Dakota State out of the FCS ranks like that that that's not a fun matchup and they're not quite what they used to be but but but they've they've upset a lot of FBS teams throughout the years I don't know like how did that game come to be yeah and that's been on the schedule for a number of years I think it was two three coaches ago that that that actually got on the schedule but yeah they're maybe not what they were but the coaches poll for FCS came out today and they're number two two yeah you know they're they're certainly very legit they have a brand new head coach which U maybe that plays into you know car's favor that maybe it takes a little bit for them to get used to him but they got a lot of guys back including their quarterback back and you know I know from talking to people of there they're super excited to be on national TV and play Thursday night and they're not going to back down at all or be intimidated so it's gonna be a fun matchup yeah yeah I well just put that Colorado State game right into my veins right now that like you mentioned they haven't been up in that part of the world for quite a long time and those Colorado State fans are going to be jumping out of their minds and and Colorado State's backed into a corner that coach needs to win or he's done so yeah that is going to be a wild game and and he hasn't Jay orell hasn't done well against Rivals either um not only Colorado but hasn't done well against Air Force and Wyoming so yeah there's a lot of pressure on him I'm curious to see how many Colorado fans kind of take over that Stadium it's not a huge Stadium no but I imagine it might be half CU fans so it's goingon to be interesting to see what that game looks like and I actually covered the last game uh that they played in Fort Collins it tells you how old I am which is back in 96 so wow um I'm looking forward to going back there well uh I do the play-by-play for Utah State so I'm in that Stadium every other year um for a brand new stadium not great not great so no it's I think they could have done some things better yep I actually covered went to the very first game in that stadium and you know it was okay I haven't been back since but yeah it's not what you would Envision like wow this is an amazing brand new stadium yeah exactly well hey we appreciate your time uh never a dull moment on on that beat but Brian thanks for your time and look forward to catching with again here soon thanks Brian you bet thanks guys Brian how covers the buffalos for the buff Zone and the Boulder Daily Camera I was going to tell him to stay out of the headlines yeah stay out of the headlines bud don't don't be getting sideways with prime don't become a don't become a story yeah be the Storyteller not the story it's one thing people don't understand about this job you'd rather just tell the stories yep exactly it's never fun to become one no sir right here on the Zone this is Jake Scott and Ben Anderson I would battle Jazz fans and just say like be bad for a couple years who cares it doesn't matter it's going to be good for you making the playoffs is stupid right now it doesn't benefit you it's bad for you as a fan actually and then the white socks I'm like man I'd give anything for a first round playoff elimination the fan and me just wants any type of success even if it lowers the long-term ceiling of the team most fans feel obligated to defend the bozo Behavior people who are even like White Sox fans like hey I don't know if this franchise is headed in the right direction then the the loyal one is like how dare you I can talk about all the flaws of our state but when I go to California and get in an Uber and someone says hey isn't Utah this stupid place I'm like whoa pal listen bud I'll drag you out of here pretty good town actually here Jake Scott and Ben Anderson every day from 10 to no on 975d Sports s part of the show every moment of every show is available in podcast form by searching Hans and Scotty on your favorite podcasting platform or online at KSL sports.com this is H Olsen and Scotty G on 975 the KSL Sports Zone hands in Scotty 975 the KSL Sports Zone happy Monday everybody hope you had a great weekend we had to get into Dorian singer so quick good weekend at your place you're busy man was all kinds of celebrations Mom and Dad celebrated number 59 my parents had 60 they were right just a hair ahead of you yeah about a month and a half ago it's a lot of years it is a lot of years uh being together and it's crazy they're still happy yeah that's what I think about my parents too I I just look at him like all right so how are you doing it let's I just want to make sure I'm headed on that path cuz I'm happy I'm just worried about my wife yeah I don't know if she could handle 60 years make sure she's happy because that's that's a pretty big part of it uh yeah more than 50% I would say more than 50 because it doesn't take much for us to be happy yeah very little yeah but 59th celebrated and then uh we had a birthday party so that was exciting and fun you do a little cooking I did for Mom and Dad's an iversary rib ice nice yep good for you did rib ice and I've I've got you do that on the did you do it on the black top or I think I've got the style I've got my new style down you do the pizza oven I haven't done it okay no because I I think I've figured a couple of different things out so I get the really thick cut ribe eyes all right and I just smoke them at about 190 and I get them to an internal temperature of about 100 to 105 it's about a 45 minute to an hour and 20 minute smoke yeah and then I heat up the black top as hot it as will get and and I actually put a pretty good amount of olive oil oil yep smart and then I Dr I so oh I smoke my steaks bare I don't I don't no seasoning really I smoke them be okay just the the the beef and the smoke all right and then any particular smoke you use or wood no no just uh just that kind of the tradition competition blend kind of stuff yeah okay I I like mostly I like the blend all right and then I hit it with a it's a smoked brown sugar uh rub it's a smoked brown sugar rub I hit it with garlic salt I hit it with regular salt and regular pepper there you go and I put a pretty nice little layer on it and I throw it down on that oil and it crusts up that brown sugar and the garlic salt it crusts it up into the the ri eye nice and then while it's frying on that side I dust the other side yeah and flip it and crust that other side and you know both sides are crusted and then my serving style what I've what I've found best to serve is because those ribey are so thick and you don't know how much somebody's going to want what I do is I get my biggest cast iron heated up a little bit not overly hot but I get my cast iron kind of heated up and I put some butter at the bottom and then and then onions and then I let it cool just a little bit but but it's still warm the Butter's melted and then the onions are sitting there and then I slice my RI eyes and I lay it all on top of the onion yeah so it's got the crust the slice the little bit of butter at the bottom and then I pour all of the the drippings over the top of the ribeye smart man so it's got all the flavors well and then you know you don't want to give somebody a full steak because you never know if you're you never know ryon's going to finish her steak and then there is nothing worse than you you know you've been slaving over a steak something that you know how much money you spent into and you see a teenage kid go over and slide it into the trash and you may want to just strangle oh no that's not going to work yeah not that'll never work yeah and then you got another one that wants one and a half of them yes or more rock just goes back serving after serving a boy and uh and so I I found so that that cast iron when you lay it on top of the onion because if you lay a a nicely cooked medium rare ribeye sliced onto a cast iron it turns it from medium rare to medium well like that like that and and if you got to be really careful it could go to Sho leather real quick too if you're not careful right so you got to be really careful give yourself a nice layer of onion but it let the onion be warm and that butter be warm and that way it'll keep it warm for a long time but the onion insulates a little bit so you keep the medium rare I like that see that's a good idea man it it works that's a smart idea it works really well and so we've done that now a few times and I'm not I was going to do that pizza I'm going to pipe it up to 800 900 rib eyes you know the price of beef is through the roof right now Y and so if you got something that works don't mess around with it no yeah don't play around with now's not the time to be experimenting but that slic ribeye is where it's at nice all right well we are now into the top 15 in our top 60 and 60 here it is number 15 this is the top 60 and 60 60 as the Zone counts you down to the start of the 2024 college football season and now it's time for today's selection as voted on by the local sports media and you the fans the next selection LED BYU and rece steing with 42 receptions 570 yds and five touchdowns and no one doubts that if the Cougars can find some stability at the quarterback position he should put up even bigger stats in 2024 checking in at number 15 from Brigham Young University 6'4 210lb wide receiver Chase Roberts Ram Young University head coach Kanani satake Chas Roberts complete receiver big tall long fast get the ball in the vicinity of of him and he'll come down with it uh he's a big game game changer for us very physical and blocks for the this is the top 60 and 60 presented by five star painting on 975 the KSL Sports Zone all right hands Chase Roberts checking in at number 15 so 42 catches 600 yards five touchdowns last year and was he was the primary target no matter what you're down a distance was no matter what you were doing you were looking for Chase Roberts because he's powerful great route Runner you get it anywhere in the vicinity he's gonna come down with it you saw some of the crazy circus catches that he had yeah and I would expect Chase to be the primary target if it's Gary banan or Jake Retzloff I would suspect him to be the primary target and then I expect him to have a spectacular season regardless of what's going on with quarterback or o line or and I I know that it takes a lot of people to make a wide receiver good because they they rely on a pocket to be set a quarterback to throw it to him but Chase Roberts I think he is the standard in receiving I think he's just everything you want 6'4 25 20 pounds whatever he is now he's a big kid um you know you look at not only his size and his skill set and what he can bring to the table but then you look at you know you got questions with Lasser you got questions with EPS uh keano Hill shifts over you know what what impact is he gonna have at tight end um he's your primary target now he will also be the primary target of every defense out there too so yeah so you know other guys are going to need to step up and and carry some weight there well it's funny that you bring that up because I met his dad the the other day and had a nice conversation with his dad and his dad played with Ty dmer oh really yeah I didn't realize that but had he he had got he' had some injuries I think that cut his football career short he is still built like a freaking horse like a trojan horse like that dude is Stout and strong he looks eight to 10 years younger than me and I played what eight to 10 years after him eight to 10 years after him and I was looking at him and then I was looking I hate those guys I cross the field I'm at Chase and I'm like yeah you you didn't far fall far from the tree yeah but he and I were talking about that like you know Chase obviously has got the target any de coordinator that's worth his weight he's going to make sure the chase is shut down therefore Darius Lasser kelen Maran JoJo Phillips keano Hill and the rest of the crew they all Cody EPS Parker Kingston they all need to show up and they've got to draw attention in order to take some of that off of Chase Roberts yeah now the great ones find a way to get open regardless yeah everybody tried to take Rob grotsky out of a game everybody tries to take your just couldn't do it everybody tries to take Devonte Adams everybody tries to take the they can't because the route running's too good they're too physical too strong they get the separation and quarterbacks trust them to come down with it if they put it low and tight they they just trust that they're going to come up with it so that should be Chase he should get his production regardless I know he won't be an excuse maker we got to talk to him a big 12 media day and he takes everything personal and he he he gathers up all the responsibility chase robberts at number 15 I think it's a really good number he'll finish inside the top 10 on the r rank he will finish inside the top 10 on the r rank uh that is your second to last wide receiver on the board only one more wide receiver will come off the board 14 through only one more Yep so Chase highest ranked BYU correct and highest ranked Utah Utah hands and Scotty 149 coming up next uh we'll uh get a little uh whole world news your life moves fast Quantum fiber internet is faster move up to tomorrow speed today Quantum fiber.com that's Quantum fiber.com well Scotty for whole world news I've got an update on a story that we told about six maybe eight months ago do you remember the school district off official in Chicago her name was Vera Ladell and she stole hundreds of thousands of dollars of chicken wings oh yeah that was that I think that was longer than I think it was a couple years ago wasn't it it might be it might be a year plus it really could be we have an official verdict and sentencing and it's more harsh than I would have ever thought okay so she between July 2020 to February of 2022 this woman is a school official and she was in charge of ordering the food during Co that kids could take home yes well through ordering that food she was ordering pounds of bone in chicken wings so buffalo wings essentially the best kind the best kind yeah and she was pocketing those wings taking them and either selling them to a restaurant or she was using them for her own gain $1.5 Million worth of chicken wings she was I forgot it was that much she was charged she was found guilty and she has just been sentenced to nine years of prison how many years Lloyd nine years nine years I don't remember heran sentence for nine years nine years of prison for stealing chicken wings yeah but actually thought that was kind of a but 1.5 million man that's a lot it's a lot of chicken wings um more than 11,000 cases of wings so she was sending those off to the restaurant like I'm I'm sure she took a couple cases home to deep fry them herself but she's flipping those bad boys for profit for big profit yeah because you know that box of wings is not cheap anymore no no you might as well be getting yourself some remember remember Co too during that time Wings Skyrocket they skyrocketed because all the chickens nobody could work in the factories cuz everybody was getting Co yep so word to the wife she's 68 N9 years nine times nine times nine she'll be 77 upon release yeah she ain't going to make it no nope Ah that's a that's steep for chicken wings yeah I don't know better be some damn fine Wings man it's a great business plan she had though yeah I will say that it's not so great though because you're stealing from kids that were supposed to have a take-home meal program in Chicago where they really needed it yeah it's probably not great oh Vera Vera oh ver Vera Liddell no oh no I mean she made some money though yeah well hopefully the kids got it some of it Harvey School District 152 near Chicago 975 the ekl Sports Zone you're locked on to hand s and Scotty CH that's right on 975 the KSL Sports [Music] [Music] Z I'm so happy my friends R my head I'm so ugly that's cake so are you suay morning [Music] every hands and Scotty 975 the KSL Sports Zone kicking off your 2:00 hour with one of our favorites Brian fiser col covers college football better than pretty much anybody else out there from Fox Sports NBC Sports and um CBS Sports as well he's all over the place Brian how you doing man hey Brian I'm doing well good to be on with you guys good to catch up as well hey it's coming man we're just a couple weeks away from week zero let's get it going right let's let's get this thing started well you know like the the Olympics are over and so I I'm sure everybody's like kind of bummed that we don't have anything going on in the afternoons anymore but uh I mean we got it it's right around the corner and I think anytime that AP Top 25 comes out you know that for that preseason poll that that s tends to be the signal to that kind of everybody like all right get ready because uh Labor Day weekend will be here before we know it and we even got some some interesting week zero action so I I I can't wait I know a lot of fans out there can't either I guess that you agree with every single one of the rankings one through 25 where the AP uh of course you know like I I would never besch my uh my colleagues that vote in the you know and it's funny too because like it it really does not matter and maybe even more so this year just given the move to the 12 team playoff but I do think it's an interesting historical Benchmark to kind of go back and look and just kind of uh the general thoughts and general consensus for a lot of these teams I mean this is you know the first time in in 14 years that Texas has been in the top five you know like just looking at Alabama being down there at number five instead of being one or two like they usually are you know it's just kind of interesting to kind of look at how is the group think surrounding these teams and of course it's all going to get thrown out the window as soon as we get those actual results in week one all right so if you look at you know a team like Texas are you buying the hype on Texas are you buying some of the hype on some of these teams or are some of these guys going to drop back down a little bit back down to earth well I think it's important to kind of put things in context that in in a 12 team era you know and and it's going to be interesting to see how various fan bases and various programs kind of kind of tend to look at their their measure of success nowadays is it is it making a college football playoff is it winning a game you know is is it getting to the national title game because you know I think you look at those top two teams in particular in Georgia and Ohio State it's National Title robust anything other than that and and even really making that game um is going to be considered a disappointment if you are Texas and you look at what happened last year and how close they were to win winning that semi-final game I think you kind of say all right we're not only expecting to get into the college football playoff we're expecting to win one or two games and start threatening and contending already in the SEC and really making a statement in their first year in the league and so I think that's going to be big for for a lot of those teams especially in the top 10 to kind of look at what what is success but I think for for some of them yeah I am buying Texas I am buying Oregon and certainly Ohio State and Georgia I think you can kind of pencil them in and really when you look at those teams really at the top of the poll it's all about depth those are the teams that have depth and and you're going to need that not only in this expanded colge playoff where you're playing extra games um but you're just going to need it given the Rough and Tumble nature of the season and and how college football uh you know the nature of how physical it's become these last couple of years you're going to need a backup quarterback you're going to need a backup right tackle and I think those teams at the top they're a little bit more sure in terms of their depth than than those others around the poll Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham had a statement Brian where he said the top 25 will eventually reflect the top 25 in spending as far as going out and spending on recruits and paying nil and paying these players through collectives and giving them money I would say he's got a point one through 10 feels like it pretty much represents uh your top 10 paying schools do you think I'm off on that and do you think he's kind of accurate with the way this top 25 was put together well I think he sounds like like somebody who's kind of been studying a lot of the other leagues and professional leagues out there you know in terms of spending does tend to dictate I mean you look at European soccer and you can pretty much line up you know the teams that pay the most are going to finish in in the table pretty much in in nearly the exact same word yeah you got injuries here and there that do ra a campaign here or to but uh yeah that's generally how things are gone and I I think it is going to be kind of re-enchantment coming in and I I think it's going to be very interesting because uh you look at some of the up company programs that you think can can compete on the same level uh you know as as those top 10 already uh they want to get back into you know look at Nebraska you know I think that's a program that um you know is going to have some some marketly improved nil opportunities moving forward they're going to sounds like they're going to pay the the Full House settlement so you know what they're going to be in that kind of same bracket as as the tennesses and Florida states of the world and how does that kind of change things but at the end of the day I think it you you do look at that top 10 of the poll and consistently from year to year yeah there will be some fluctuations here there but for the most part I think Kyle is right that it is going to reflect the level of importance that football is going to have at your program if you're consistently in there you're probably going to be in consistently ending up as as one of the higher paying programs not only just in terms of nil but salaries off the field structure facilities across the board he uh Kyle told John kanano and um in his podcast that he sees another major shift coming in the next two to four years doesn't necessarily line up with new TV negotiations but do you see another major alignment shift coming down the pipeline here in the near future uh near future probably not I I think there's just too much in the air um you know especially on on the legal front I think you know everybody especially the administrative level the presidential level I I don't think there's a lot of interest necessarily in kind of ripping things up and and you know we'll see certainly with the the outcome the Florida State and Clemson lawsuit against the ACC and if that might bring some dominoes but I I think at the end of the day I I think there is going to be some some relative piece in these next uh uh five six seven years at least U you you mentioned the TV deals kind of in the 2030s you know I think you can kind of get past all the legal issues you know what's going on in terms of antitrust legislation maybe you say get some exemptions maybe some things go happen with uh you know television networks and media networks it's it's a kind of fraught time for a lot of those companies if you've kept up with the news so uh I think there's just so much going on right now that any kind of Super League type of proposal sounds nice in theory and and I think that people are thinking more Outside the Box in terms of what we can do in college athletics but uh you know at the end of the day you you look at things and I think people want to want to kind of slow down this change a little bit and and catch their breath before maybe embarking on on some bigger bigger picture issues that uh a Super League might bre bring so the Super League in the way it would represent with the NCAA versus house where these universities can then pay schools would would that be something where they could then put in kind of a pay scale where they are all on the same page it's almost like a a forced expenditure like the NBA or most professional leagues have I mean seems like it's something that they could manage manipulate more easily yeah you know I think you know it's going to be interesting you know a lot of the ads right now and a lot of the people in in these athletic departments really spent the last uh I I would say six months you know kind of modeling a lot of this out for what might look like U you know a $22 million uh sharing of revenue for with players versus 23 you know what kind of time line implications they might have what is it going to mean if they go to 105 scholarships next year I mean you already have FBS programs right now uh that are not even coming close to that number and so what is that going to do for you know programs in the Mac that are looking at things you know what what are Mountain West programs going to do so I I think everybody's just kind of looking at things and saying all right well hopefully you know comes come the first week September that you should have some movement in terms of whether that settlement is ultimately accepted in the house uh settlement you can kind of move forward from there in terms of uh kind of parsing out a lot of those percentages for for what the players might get but um you know I I've had conversations with like assistant coaches like how are we going to know to allocate you know to our left tackle versus our uh you know right guard our backup left you know Center what what's you know what are these guys going to make and you know usually those were conversations that they might have been having with uh you know their Collective or some of the people connected with uh with their program and now it's now it's a little bit inous on that and then you might get to those kind of star players certainly coming out of high school and uh coming out of the transfer portal that might be demanding things e even on top of that in terms of some of the ni L deals that they're going to get so um you know it it's going to be a Brave New World and I think that's that's the bottom line is is come 2025 and early 2026 when things really get start to get ramped up I think um you know all all the all the figures being uh talked about uh all a lot of these programs they're going to have to get a handle on and it's going to be very much more in NFL like in terms of all right well who's who's bumping up against that cap you know you're going to hear hear a lot of that more talk uh I think in in the next coming months and coming years all right so let's uh let's talk actual football Utah first year in the Big 12 picked to finish first in the Big 12 uh By Us Dopey media members and you know obviously take that with a grain of salt but if they stay healthy Sky's a limit for this team um is this a team that we should be talking about as a potential college football playoff Squad yeah I think there's a lot of people kind of penciling them in for that no more four seed uh just just not only being picked in terms of win the Big 12 but I mean it it really is a program that has that solid base and look they they more than anybody know how to change conferences like that that is not a big deal for for Kyle Whittingham given all the moves that he's made over the years um but this is a program that has operated at the highest level I think getting everybody healthy and you you kind of you do see the injury luck from one year to the next kind of flip and so uh you know that certainly that's hopefully the case there for the UT in terms of giving some of the injuries that they've sustained at key positions and really that's what's kind of hurt their depths you know when they've lost games these last couple years it has been kind of in the second half of the Season where that depth has been impacted and they they've you know had some some terrific finds and I think this is probably the the healthiest and most confident I I've kind of gotten that the feeling around Utah and you guys might might know a little bit different from me but you look at the schedule and you look at the big 12 where really every game feels like a coin flip but we'll know right away I mean that that game against Oklahoma State you know early in in mid-september I mean that is a a game that is is going to kind of set out the pecking order in the Big 12 and I I I would look as as difficult as an environment as that is in still water and and it's going to be you know kind of kind to like going into oton uh for Utah I would imagine that they're they're going to be pretty confident going into that one just given every all the experience that they have coming back where they're at along the lines of scrimmage um and really just how confident I think everybody is in terms of um this is a program that has been through a lot and they they've come out the other side and and typically on top and I think that's where they kind of look at going into the Big 12 this year all right so get your headline ready Brian because you're there there's a good possibility Utah wins the Big 12 Texas wins the SEC and Oregon wins the Big 10 all first time uh teams in their given conference I mean it's it's crazy that there's a potential of this but if you were to handicap this which has the most uh potential or the most likelihood to win their new conference well I defin like Utah in the Big 12 just uh you know I think there's kind of an upper cross there in the Big 12 and you know if they can get that win against Oklahoma State I think they would be looking pretty in terms of getting to the the Big 12 title game which is you know that that's going to be you know half the battle you look at you know Oregon certainly they also have kind of a bit of an inside track you know you look at their big 10 schedule it's certainly manageable everybody looks at all this travel and all that but but getting Ohio State at home if you can win that one um and and they got some you know they got Michigan State at home before that they got Purdue afterward so it's not like it's it's a sandwich game they're going to be focused in on that one so that that's the big one in terms of tiebreakers I think is is going to be big for them I think their big 10 schedule uh is fairly manageable so if they can get that one I think they look pretty good to get into that big 10 title game that ultimately gets you a chance Texas is a little bit trickier obviously they they've got a prettyy easy uh early schedule in but you got Oklahoma and Georgia back toback that that is a tough one even with Red River we know the importance that that rivalry has has taken even if you don't think Oklahoma is is a top 20 team it you can throw out the records in in that game in Red River so that before Georgia is is a little bit of a tough one too but um you know I wouldn't be surprised at all you know given we've seen uh Sark you know he he's got two really good quarterbacks there on his roster we we know that Quinn yers former number one pick showed the flashes last year wouldn't be surprising at all I'm a little concerned defensively just in terms of the kind of that spine of their defense that they lost from you know last year but uh for the most part this is a Texas team that I I think they're they're looking to compete right away and it it really wouldn't surprise me if all three of those scenarios end up playing out but I'd probably go Utah Oregon and then Texas just given the nature of the SEC but uh that that that seems like a pretty realistic scenario honestly if if you look at it from the big picture Ryan Fisher joining us national college football writer at Fox Sports uh among others joining us right here on 975 the ekl Sports Zone um Brian uh what temperature do you think the seat is for colani satake at BYU right now you know I I kind of again putting going back to just how how crazy this whole college sports ecosystem you know I'm sure if you look just looked at the record the last you know year or two uh you know I'm sure the fan base is kind of wearing thin wanting to see those results and and certainly I think internally um you know there's expectations of of making that next step forward and at at the end of the day you know that's really the biggest thing that you can ask I I don't think the administration is necessarily putting him on the hot seat I I I don't get the sense of that at all you know I think this is going to be a program that's going to be very interesting to see track you know kind of over the given all the the talk about spending Wom and everything happening and and roster sizes and and what happening I think BYU is going to be a very interesting test case over these next couple of years and I I do get the sense that you know BYU more than anything wants colani sataki to succeed but it is all about results it's a results driven business he knows that uh the administration knows that so I I don't necessarily think unless things really you know could the the bottom really fell out this year uh would he kind of be in in danger but um you I think moving forward there is kind of going to be that expectation of all right yeah you've had your transition period and and now we're in the Big 12 we're in this new look big 12 and it probably doesn't help that uh you know up to the North in Salt Lake City that Utah is the favorite for the conference coming coming right in but uh you know at the end of the day uh I I think patience is is is welld deserved there and uh we'll see kind of Beyond come 2025 and Beyond it I think it's kind of really where you kind of got to start to say all right the results are starting to matter even more now you know I take a look at this schedule where SMU is getting votes inside the top 25 and then you got Kansas State Arizona Oklahoma State Utah Kansas all in the top 25 and Central Florida is going to be interesting with KJ Jefferson and this is a really difficult schedule for for BYU Brian when I'm just taking a look at this schedule and some of the difficulty when you hear some of those names especially the top five ranked top 25 teams that are in the Big 12 Kansas State Arizona Oklahoma State Utah and Kansas we talked about Utah but do you feel like the other four are are legitimate top 25 teams and and what are your thoughts on SMU uh you know SMU is an interesting one you know I think you look at at that as a program that uh you know really wanted to come into the ACC this year and I think R Lashley did a great job in terms of identifying people along the offensive and defensive lines that can not only help right away but can also contribute to their depth up front you know I think they you know we we know they they've got a good offense you know Preston Stone's a great quarterback that they're going to have wide receivers you know like this is going to be one of the better offenses in the ACC I think and so I think he kind of went into a lot of this season kind of understanding that hey I I got to get better in in those areas that maybe are a little bit overlooked and I think SMU you know to their credit did that it's going to be a difficult one um you know Friday night there there in Dallas and I think it's going to be you know really a good test for both programs in terms of where are they this season but you know you're right there there's no really easy give Mees I mean even that game at Bor uh you know kind of uh later in in September I mean that's going to be a very interesting scene I know uh rand's probably one of those coaches that are on the hot seat but I know that they've made a lot of changes they're they're kind of happy with where they're at in terms of improving their team from last year but um you know the question in my mind with with BYU in particular is just kind of are we going to get the team that we saw kind of at the end of last season that was you know making making runs to to pull up pull off upsets against Oklahoma and others or or is it kind of going to be the one that kind of had to kind of settle into things early in the year I I don't think they can afford to kind of get off to a slow start not only given that schedule but but really given that the pressure you're going to face week in and week out uh once the Big 12 Play comes around because it it is difficult I mean even that that UCF Utah back toback that that is not going to be an easy one and certainly having both those games on the road um is certainly going to be a test testing one late in the year so Brian I I will fully admit this is an unbiased opinion on my part um I think Rudy is an overrated movie I I don't like Notre Dame I always hate that they manufacture a really good schedule and then get blown out in the college football playoffs off they came in at the AP rank number seven is this another paper tiger Notre Dame team that'll get trounced in the playoffs because they'll get there because they can manufacture a pretty good record with their independent scheduling or is this actually a particularly good team this year I I think it is a particularly good team this year and uh you know part of that is is going to come down to you know is is Leonard Riley going to be healthy uh and and fully healthy and are we going to kind of see that Peak quarterback that we got uh there at times for Duke but I think you know uh I I heard some encouraging reports in terms of where they're at in terms of the the wide receivers which has you know been the problem the last couple years they really not have that g kind of gamebreaking type of wide receiver we know they're going to be pretty solid along the offensive line they lost their left tackle uh with with a knee injury last week so uh going to have to work around that but you know you mentioned the schedule I mean it it definitely is manageable if you can get past Texas A&M you know in an early season game between uh a new coaching staff you know a lot of new change down there in College Station if he can get past that one very very manageable you get Florida State at home you got obviously USC which is also going to be a team in transition maybe beat up uh you know with that big 10 schedule by the end of the year uh when they travel out to LA so um definitely that the schedule is going to help Notre Dame and and I I definitely can see why uh they could be encouraged about making the college football playoff because of that but uh this still a pretty good football team I think uh you know Marcus Freeman has been recruiting at a high enough level and look he he's another coach that I think um you know results are starting to matter for him too and and I think he's starting to hear it from the fan base that this needs to kind of be that breakthrough campaign for him had a lot of you know losses to to some unexplainable losses in the past the teams that they they should not have lost to he's got to get that squared away even though the schedule looks manageable and then it is these games against Texas A&M and USC and Florida State that um you know he has to show that he is capable of of reaching that next level and I think this is a team that they feel very confident there in South B that this is the year that they can kind of make that breakthrough and uh certainly you look at getting one of those top two seeds uh in that first round of the college football playoffs winning a home football game uh you know they're in South Bend uh probably at night uh against a marquee opponent that that's going to sound pretty good to a lot of people around uh that Irish program somebody's got to take a look at this though having nine home games and only three Rug games Brian that's wild well and a couple of those are a neutral site you know too with a lot of the stuff that they do you know against some of their their Rivals you know they're they're playing in like three or four NFL stadiums so it's it's not not a typical schedule that's for sure I mean there's only like two or three like you said true Road games and that that that makes it a lot more manageable and it's not just the the the names on the front I I mean this is a this is a program that uh you know I think they they understand kind of what is laid out ahead of them and how important it would be uh for this first year of the playoffs just from a like a marketing and brand standpoint for Notre Dame to be in that playoff I I think they are really kind of going forward and we've kind of seen a lot of those moves in terms of hey we think we're ready and ultimately we'll see if that plays out in that opener against the aies Brian you're the best man we appreciate it thanks for your time and let's do it again here soon absolutely good to be with you guys Brian fiser what if you're going to try to have some poke the bear a little bit just let me know that's I wasn't poking you know what I'm going to take some responsibility for this I didn't know anything until you retweeted I know and I didn't realize you weren't tagged because I would not have tagged you in that b Nick looked good did he not heck Zack Wilson look better but but B eggs look pretty good you saying there's a QB controversy maybe I don't think there's any QB controversy the only question is if they start in week one or not um and apparently according to if Denver doesn't win a Super Bowl this year is that what you're saying this year this year did you say Super Bowl or did you say that they should win their division which no Super Bowl winning the AFC West takes a lot I hell I take a I would take the very last wild card spot and do a little dance yeah tell you what if Denver makes you you said it tell me what if Denver makes whatever you want me to do I will do if Denver makes the playoffs this year because you're saying they won't there's no way they're oh they will they will who are you serious B's going to get him with the playoffs B's going to get him with the playoffs B's got that and IO a little bit I'm serious like tell me what you want me to do and I will do it you know I'm I docent I'm not I'm not I'm not putting a cheerleading outfit on and going in front of a football team no that was horrible and no tattoos and I'm not I'm not no tattoos no nipple piercing no standing outside of a corner of a I don't know I might do that the nipple piercing was terrible yeah well especially when you got Dave Revel getting infected and you know what would be you know it would be awesome and and Lloyd this would be pretty sweet all you got to do you're this sure you're this positive oh I guarantee it now the year after I think they're they're making progress you got to bring a rack of your classic ribs in for ly one rack we all share them I'll do five racks you're that positive oh yeah Denver if they don't go to the playoffs if they go to the playoffs I will I will smoke you guys as many ribs as you want and we'll have a sleep over we'll have a sleep over is on the board at nine and Denver goes a different direction and goes defense Lloyd come on over the Raiders my man let's go so you're wanting him to be a Raiders fan I don't think he's in I no I think's he's making an Integrity shot right there the Integrity I don't which is fine I I kind of earned that one because I I yeah because you did not become a Raider I didn't think it would play out exactly the way that I thought it would identical uh but uh okay here's the deal if they're in the playoffs all you got to do because we'll be we'll be done with our College sleep yeah Lloyd and I get to come over on that Sunday playoff and you got to do a full rib dinner okay how about all right sleepover or or this or this or this um you can pick the UFC fight of your choice okay I will I will pick up the pay-per-view I'm taking that one and I will do the ribs and I will do the ribs okay sleepover is optional hold on I'm just gonna put this down and we get all the fancy drinks we want I'm putting this with your shaved ice hey I it's not shaved ice it's Pebble ice Pebble I sorry Scotty we're not I don't have a shaved ice okay Pebble ice I'm sorry just so you know this is going I'm just saying if you come there expecting shaved ice you be like and you didn't even give me shaved ice okay okay if one of those Snoopy yeah exactly the good ice the good ice um I'm putting this right below Scotty Anthony Edwards MVP next three seasons man we're saying a lot of crap these days aren't we so Scotty Broncos Miss playoffs or UFC see okay I always like to I I don't mind doing this stuff because all right number one Denver makes the playoffs that makes me happy number two win number two hey I get my guys to come over and we have a good time so win win okay when you were watching that game though how did you feel how did it make that game make you feel I know it's the preseason I get that but there is something like B Knicks looked I don't know looked really good I think it said more about uh the than it did the the Broncos they're playing Green Bay next Sunday get with me after that one this uh by the way this preseason game loaded with locals yeah 11 guys there was 11 locals in this you ready I'm going to go through them so outside of the two quarterbacks that you guys have talked about with um Zach Zach and slovis yep slovis had three series I think end up he was in there quite a bit he played well three of five for 40 yards had a a one score drive so you had Matt gay Julian Blackman Blake Freeland all for the Indianapolis Colts and of course throw on C and slows then you had Cody Barton Garrett BS Jonah Ellis you sent me the clip of Jonah Ellis with pressure and there was another pressure that he got on later too or no he chased down a running back oh there was another big I was trying to find that one for you too but Jonah Ellis was a man I was more excited about him than I was Bo Knicks well oh man I can't wait was that an emotional statement you know what you know when those cameras go in you're not going to be able to yeah that's never gonna happen though hey Honestly though just for a preseason game Jon Alis did show speed yeah and he's just coming off an injury yeah dude he and apparently I'm actually surprised he's played in the preseason because apparently he's looked really good in Camp too you had Tim Patrick you got Devon V and you got Thomas Yasmine Yasmine did check in he didn't have a reception but he did come in uh there was another tight end that I thought Tim Patrick Devon V Thomas Yas John Ellis Garrett BS Cody Barton Blake Freeland did you think that there was another tight end with local ties yeah for some reason I thought that I might have missed them let's see coll Nate Atkins Greg dolit Adam Troutman um not for the Broncos [Music] okay unless I'm missing somebody nope sorry maybe I must have been watching another game okay man I want Denver to make the playoffs now Lloyd I do too paid for UFC event with a rib dinner I'll just call Scotty have him come over he'll pay all right uh let's uh go ahead and spin that whe an Olympic recap well Scotty the Olympics are closed up they're all said and done and we kissed our sister I know 40 gold medals a piece for China and the United States of America now if you go to the tiebreaker which is total metal count we just oh yeah just obliterated well what they go by as far as if you Google it it's the silvers if you have more Silvers because then it's if you're tied with gold oh really so it works down that's the tiebreaker all right yeah they more way more silver okay hold on look at this so okay Scotty so we just took a country of 333 million against a country of 1.4 they've got a billion more people than we have in the United States let that sink in they've got a billion more people in China China yes than we have in the United States and we just got them we got them why because we're America and we're better and we're better yeah we're stronger and let this and let this be an indicator of how all things will go yes just wait till we bring in flag football next year oh that's right it's coming in our next Olympics yeah United States of America strongest country in the world darn straight China over there is this by the way talking about 1.4 billion people the David Hass this is the Hulk uh intro back in the day you remember when hok come in with the bandana tearing off his tank top striding like doing high knees 1.4 billion people I had no idea there that many I knew they were over a billion but they're they getting closer to two than they are one India's got them beat too India's Got 1.4 point or 1. 1417 what are they doing in the Olympics nothing gez did they even register they even send a team did they qualify for an event but what was the biggest storyline for you uh tell you what the thing got me most fired up was watching Steph in the fourth quarter against France yeah holy smokes uh his first Olympics yeah and Bo did he put on a show okay this is so hard to say would they've done it if he did not show in this if he was not a part of this Olympic team uh uh they don't beat Croatia Serbia or Serbia sorry my bad yeah oh you're fine uh I think they beat I granted if they don't beat Serbia they don't play France they don't beat Serbia but I don't I think they beat France without him they don't beat they they don't beat Serbia without think no no way sery had him yep dead to rights yep 12 12-point lead with eight minutes left yeah and it took all his staff yep all right 250 we'll wrap this bad boy up next 975 the KSL Sports is season's kicking off man it's coming along fast uh we get into number 14 in our 60 and 60 not as much push back on Chase Roberts and there shouldn't be in fact I think Chase could go anywhere from 10 to 15 yep I think he's very good and there's a little bit of push back where Utah fans are saying uh doyan singer is a better wide receiver than Chase Roberts you want to tease 14 let's let that play out yes I will tease number 14 the best lineman in the state and I am going to leave it across both lines no argument here I'm talking defense and offense wow oh okay all right and I'm talking all three schools yeahoo okay let me make sure I'm right on that yeah I think you are best well no that yeah and then yeah yeah man I I still almost feel like I'm I feel confident in that he I think
