finish in the top 16 after 26 races will have their chance to prove they have what it takes to win in the first round of 16 it will go for three races the 12 drivers in ranking will move on to the round of 12 in the round of 12 it have the same format three races whoever is in the top eight will move on to the RO uh to the round of eight the round of eight is three races to figure out who makes it to top four for the championship race it will be the one race shootout whoever of the remaining four finishers the finish the highest will win the main Cup Series championship all the 43 drivers in ncar will continue racing during the it time as well per the rules of NASCAR and from Rules set by car owners sponsorships or endorsements the 16 in contention for the championship will follow the rules of the playoffs as determined by NASCAR here is how all the drivers did up through race 16 the top 16 are in playoffs the rest are not in contention for championship this information is valid through race 26 which took place on September 1st of 2024 number one or I'm sorry first will be number five Kyle Larson 240 points second number 20 Christopher Bell 232 points uh third number 45 Tyler
