of Minnesota and here come the Golden Gophers [Applause] for North Carolina today shapes up as a good shot and a win for them the differences between these two football teams isn't so wide that the outcome is a foregone conclusion I could definitely see a surprise here today for North Carolina the key to their passing attack is a dangerous wide out and he's going up against a real lock down corner so this ought to be a really fun matchup to watch kickoffs just ahead but first let's head to midfield for the coin toss brought to you by spark because better athletes make better football players and the fans are on their feet awaiting the start of this game as the players line up for the kick and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback and out comes the offense and he's immediately tackled good job by the offensive line to pick up the linebacker on the blitz that gave the quarterback enough time to find his man for a nice game from their own 31 yd line first down fakes to the back he's got it with room to run and he's tackled at the 34 yd line personal foul face mask on the [Music] defense still first down so after the big pass play we've got a first down [Applause] straight in the middle and he meets the defense the back gets three on the carry you won't break or bend this linebacker he won't miss that tackle too [Applause] often they hand it off again brought down after a nice run up the middle personal foul face mask on the defense first down first and goal from the five they're knocking on the [Applause] door looks like an option here and they got to him before he can get back to the line the quarterback tried to do a little too much by himself hey maybe next time he'll get it out to the back so he can do something with it second down there's only eight yards between the ball and the end zone here's the option left and they get him in the back field for a loss good discipline here by the defense stringing the option out and plugging the running LS that moved them [Applause] back now we'll see how the backup can do after that injury looking to throw swatted away nice play by the defense to bring up fourth down yeah instead of going for the interception they did the safe thing and that was just to tip it away he gets it up no good he pushed it to the right tough break there for the kicking team you wonder if the crowd noise had anything to do with that Miss and if it did that's bad news for the kicker because these folks are only going to get loud as the game goes on hands it off inside brought down and the halfbacks got nowhere to go second and 10 ball on the 20 yd line little screen pass this flag came from the Umpire and that means this is probably holding holding these are the calls that drive a coach crazy senseless penalties can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing the game second down and a ways to go because of the penalty again he'll get the call he makes it out to maybe the 16 yd line personal foul Mas on [Applause] defense first down from their own 31 yd line it's first down fires across the middle that's a great t tackle at the [Music] 48 person foul face Mas from the defense still first down from the 37 yd line first down going long throw complete touchdown out of they let the tight end get so open on such a big play that was poor defense looks like there was some miscommunication between the safety and the linebackers which caused for him to get so open and the extra point is no good a quick two- playay 57 yd drive and it results in six Brad I thought that was a textbook Drive I thought they did a really good job of showing balance mixing the play calling with the run and the pass just an overall well executed touchdown drive so our score six nothing and this one's going to come back to the 20 they'll set up shot at the 20 yd line and they hit him in the back field and that play was snuffed out from the get-go you're right this a delayed hand off to the tail back and the defense wasn't fooled at all there back to pass got his man can't tack on any yardage they gained five yards there you don't have to go deep every play to be successful they got five yards on the play and that's always a good game it's getting louder down in the field gives it to the back flags are down and this one might be on the [Applause] offense that was some sure tackling to make sure he didn't pick up the first down down it's fourth down and they're ready to punt this one away he gets it away and this is a really nice punt he drops it not sure what the flag is about here let's go down to the field and find out clipping on the receiving team that one's going to put him way back you just can't block a player from behind like that or it's going to cost you first down 10 yds to go ball in the [Applause] 16 there's a flag down and it looks like this one's coming back flipping on the that's frustrating for a coach when you preach fundamentals every week and then have someone called for clipping that penalty really is going to set them back Minnesota up six back to pass they'll make the sack I think the offensive line missed a block there somebody did it was like a jailbreak up front and the linebacker will get the credit for the sack so the sack makes this a second and long hand off and he's met immediately personal foul face mask on the defense first down from their own 18 yd line first [Applause] down nice play fake decides to tuck it in and he's got space Dives for extra yardage this is a pretty tough guy and he's a great leader he's going to do whatever it takes to help his team [Applause] first and 10 in a real nice looking drive so far and they'll run him again they'll bring him down for a loss on the play think about the speed and instincts it takes for a linebacker to get from his position into the back field to make a play like that that's well done throw to the tight end and in and out of his hands third down and 12 ball on the 28 yd line drops back to pass looking for his man incomplete that's just a shame the receiver did his job he's able to get a step on the defender but the ball was under thrown booming kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback they'll set up shot at the 20 yd line incomplete [Applause] pass from their own 20 yd line Second down play fake here's a throw and it's almost picked it can be tough making a play on the ball sometimes but that's probably a pick he should have made from their own 20yd line it's third down drops back to pass way to look it in they couldn't get anything to work and it will be fourth down and now they should come away with pretty good field position so consider that a big [Music] stop it's away and it's a booming punt he's out to the 30 and he makes it out to about the 37 yd line made a few guys miss on his way to a quality return this drive will start at the 37 he tackles him for a loss sometimes a play is not going to work for whatever reason doesn't mean you throw the play away you just need to execute better next time from their own 34 yd line it's second down and he carries the ball for a nice gain so they get five yards there on the halfback draw it's third down eight to go ball on their own 39 he airs it out and he's got the junior he's all the way home touchdown he's quickly reached 100 yds through the air and the defense better make some early adjustments because if they keep getting beat like this through the air this is going to be a long game for them and he adds the extra point it was a quick three play 63 yd drive and that's good for a touchdown so the score now 13 nothing Minesota to kick and this one's going to come back to the 20 they'll go to work at the 20 first and [Applause] 10 got a man watch out here and they make the stop at the 30 first down 10 to go ball in the 30 they run straight brought down quickly three yards there on the delayed handoff from their own 33 yd line Second down and he's taken down at the 42 yd line we've got a first and 10 ball on their own [Applause] 42 got a receiver and he dropped [Applause] it second down and 10 to go ball on the 4 [Applause] 2 he drops back and he's level at the 41 yd line personal foul face mask on the defense still first down it's first and 10 ball in the 26 yd line first down look at a throw and this one's broken up wow I thought he was going to squeeze that pass in for six points but the defensive back does a nice job to reach out and bat it [Applause] away they go right he's tackle behind the line first foul face mask from the defense first down from the 13 yd line first down this defense is looking to make it three straight trips to the Red Zone without a single point on the Run touchdown North Carolina he is such a talented skillful back as you saw right there there what makes him even better is that these coaches know how to use [Music] [Applause] him off the upright and through he got it so a six play 63 yd drive and a touchdown is a result so our score 137 North Carolina get set to kick this one away and this one's going to come back to the 20 they'll go to work at the 20 yd line first and 10 throws it watch out oh almost had a pick the defense always likes to see a pass broken up but getting the turnover would have been really [Applause] big he drops back wants to go long and does can't connect you love the effort by the tight end getting down the field but the timing just wasn't quite there it's third and 10 ball on the 20yd [Applause] line back to pass throws it out there it's dropped incomplete this isn't how you get an offense going and it can't help anybody's confidence and this one is a beauty and he makes it out to about the 37 yd line he did a good job there to give his team decent field position this drive will start at the 37 first and 10 play action he loads and fires can't pull it [Applause] in second out 10 yds to go ball on their own 37 hand off inside and he's quickly brought down nothing doing on the halfback draw here's third and nine ball on the 37 Rose and they tackle him at the 33y yard line personal foul face mask from the [Music] defense still first down from the 18 yd line first [Applause] down and he carries the ball for a nice game second and from the 14 yd line it's second [Applause] down handoff brought down quickly maybe a yard on the Run by the tailb and so it's another third down upcoming here caught open field and he's pushed out of bounds setting up a first and goal man did he ever sell the run the defense took the bait and that hesitation was enough to give the receiver room to make the catch he drops back there's a flag down in the back field but I didn't see what happened the pass he was a step too late and he knows it and learned not to make those kinds of mistakes they're crowding that line of [Applause] scrimmage pitch out and he is hit immediately these Corners are showing that they're not afraid to come up and make a hit even if they aren't playing pass they know how to disrupt the play we're at Play number nine of this current Drive it's second [Applause] Down Rose and that one's going to hit the ground [Applause] incomplete big third and goal can the defense stop him on play action throws [Applause] incomplete it's Fourth Down they'll line up the field goal unit and this one is from 24 yds out and it's Blitz the uprights and you got to think they're pretty happy with holding them to a field goal right there North Carolina the kick this one one off he boots it deep downfield and they can forget about returning this one they'll take over at the 20yd line first down 10 yards to go makes it to the 22 yd line personal foul face mask on the defense first down from their own 37 yd line first [Applause] down and they got him personal foul face mask from the defense first down from their own 47 yd line first [Applause] down and he hits him hard at the 46 yd line did you see how that big defensive line got such a good push on that play that's exactly why they were able to stop him for a loss Minnesota is up a field goal run the middle and nothing there about two yards there on that delayed handoff thir third down and they need to get it inside the [Applause] 43 drops back to pass can't pull it in [Applause] fourth down they come out in a punt formation he really got a hold of that one so this one goes into the end zone and that'll be a Touchback the offense will start at the 20yd line lets it Fly he's taken down at the 44 personal foul face mask from the defense still first down first and 10 ball on the 41 [Applause] here's the pass broken up he got a lot of air under that pass and he gave the defender time to come over and make a play second down 10 yds to go ball on the 41 yd [Applause] line runs it and tackled in the back field so the halfback loses about two on the run that is a textbook tackle right there he leveled his shoulders and just put his whole body weight behind that one great hit drops back to pass this one's going deep to the end zone he got a lot of Jersey on that play not too much argument about this call that wasn't necessarily a big hit it was a smart play avoiding the penalty but making sure to get there in time to break up the score little too much leg into that punt they'll bring it out to the 20 they'll set up shop at the 20 yd [Applause] line gets the ball here and brought down in the back field they couldn't get back to the line of scrimmage on that one I don't think they did a very good job of selling the pass to defense was able to read the play and come right in there and make a nice stop it's second down now and 14 to go ball on their own 16 runs it right and can't get away nice tackle a two- yd run by the halfback boy this senior safety provides such solid run support he stopped him in his tracks that time they give it to the halfback and he's tackled very quickly and the halfback carries for a pickup of three fourth down the punter comes on the field getting ready to send one off booming kick he makes it out to maybe the 43 yd line personal foul face mask on the [Music] defense still first down from the 42 yd line it's first [Applause] down feeds it to the back takes it up the middle for a nice [Applause] run second and five ball on the 3 [Applause] 6 knocked out of Bounds at the 34 gain of two well it's a good job here to just secure the football but he just doesn't have enough speed to turn that into something big and it's going to be hard even they hear the snap count this place is hopping they work the right side and there is nothing going there you've got to admire the intensity that these linebackers bring to the table as soon as he saw it was staying on the ground he made a beine for the ball carrier they'll go with the option laterals back good outside run there and that keeps the drive alive on that fourth down conversion how about the call there by the offensive coordinator and great execution up front by the offensive line from the 30 yd line first [Applause] down hand off and he's met immediately well I think it's safe to say the defense had his number on that one it can be very frustrating for a running back when he stopped before he even gets [Applause] going here's a run up the gut but nothing going there fou defense first down a long ways yet to go but at the end of one our score Minnesota 13 North Carolina 10 [Music] first and 10 ball on the 15 yd line gets to about the 14 yd line personal foul face mask on defense first down first down let's see if they can put it in from six yds out up the middle for [Applause] game person foul face mask defense first down they're inside the five two yds to the end zone they're crowding that line of scrimmage tackle at the one picked up a yard of anything on that run we've got second and goal this is the 10th play of this drive they put everyone up on the line fires a laser touchdown and a nice catch by the receiver for the touchdown anytime you're near the Red Zone you got to keep an eye for this guy they'd love going to him down [Music] here and the point after is no good so a seven play 32 yard drive and they put six points on the board after missing the extra point and Brad right now the offensive line just winning the battle in the trenches opening up some big running Lanes so the score now 16 13 North Carolina to kick and they can forget about returning this one they'll start this drive at the 20 option here the entire defense just collapsed on that run and got penetration into the back field nice job by the safety to clean up the mess so it's second and 14 ball in the [Applause] 16 quick throw caught by the fullback and he is drilled at the 28 [Applause] third and two coming up here ball on their own [Applause] 28 they go with a run and he's going to be stopped short that's not going to move the sticks yeah this defense played some sound football out there and did a good job of not letting him get into any kind of Rhythm he really got a hold of that one and he's taken down at the 26 yd line when he made the decision to return the ball I'm sure he thought there was going to be some room to run but boy did it vanish in a hurry still he got something out of it he looks to throw on first down and he's tackled in the open field two- yd pickup the offense is trying to get the ball into the hands of the halfback here and he did a pretty good job of getting a few yards but the defense was just swarming to the ball right there back to pass pass incomplete trying to get it to his receiver [Applause] it's third down and seven yds to go ball on the 28 yd line it's the tail back makes it to the 37 foul Mas on the defense still first down first and 10 ball in the [Applause] 48 from the 48 yd line Second down [Applause] he gets another carry and he's stopped behind the line that is exactly the type of play that good linebackers make on a regular basis and if you can make enough of them in college probably going to get a chance to play at the next level he's looking to pass he's looking for six he'll take it all the way for the touchdown he's up to 200 yds passing and if you've been watching in this game and you don't need the numbers to tell you that these guys can move the [Music] ball and the extra point is no good a nice five playay 66 yd drive and they put six points on the board after missing the extra point so our score 22 13 North Carolina lines up for the kickoff and this one's going to come back to the 20 it's been a good day for this linebacker making a lot of plays any coach in the country will tell you to have a great defensive player he's got to have intensity and he's got to have an edge to him this young man has demonstrated that and I don't know if I've seen anybody play with this kind of effort all year long a two-possession lead on the road could dissipate very quickly these Defenders are pretty aware of that from their own 20 yd line first down first down look at the throw they bring the quarterback down it looks like the defensive end that got in there yes it was he did a wonderful job of fighting off blocks to bring the quarterback down defense looking for another sack here on this second and 13 [Applause] situation wears it out to the right to the halfback he's brought down in the open field a yard maybe two on the screen pass from their own 19 yd line third down [Applause] here's a running play gets out to about the 21 the defense punches them off the field after just three plays that was a short round Brad nothing seems to be working right [Applause] now they get this one off and it's a beauty fielded at the 19 and he makes it out to about the 34 yd line and he was able to pick up some nice yards on the return they'll get the ball here at the 34 yd line first and 10 makes a catch and he's got nowhere to go a couple of yards that time on the screen wasn't a huge gain here but at least you know as a quarterback that when you throw to this senior you're putting the ball into some sure hands give to the tailb and he's met the Back Field well you think about receivers coming over the middle taking shots from the safety but a runner who's still in the back field this guy just flies all over the field it's third and eight ball on their own 36 going long doesn't get there let's see if the momentum from that defense of stand carries over to their offense so it's Fourth Down the punter comes on the field getting ready to send one off he really got a hold of that one little too much leg into that punt they'll bring it out to the 20 they'll set up shop at the 20 first and 10 [Applause] and he tackles him hard at the 21 from their own 21 yd line Second [Applause] down looks to pass and he can't get away from the pressure great play by the defense that time they came with a blitz and the linebacker was able to get free and Come Away with a [Applause] sack he's looking to pass aing and out long can't connect these guys just don't seem to be on the same page and they're going to have to be if they expect to win this game fourth down the punt team is on the field looking to kick this one away oh excellent punt tries to get around the corner tackle made at the 37 personal foul face mask on the [Music] defense still first down first and 10 ball in the 48 [Applause] looking for his man incomplete he'll learn he doesn't always need to use his Cannon sometimes Precision is more important than power and he's tackled after positive yardage there about four yds away here on third down looking to throw fires incomplete he was looking for the tight end well the defense stood tall there well the defense did what they had to do to get three and out and now get the offense back on the field gets it away wait a minute he's going to throw they got to the quarterback a little late there personal fouling the pass this was just an unnecessary hit he should have been disciplined for a play like that North Carolina looking to make this a three-score game gets to about the 5 yd line three yds there there on the delayed handoff second down four yds out from the goal line and they make the stop at the two yline and the halfback carries for a pickup of three this is where the defense makes a name for themselves it's third down and goal from the one they put everyone up on the line pitches it out stop short by the defense the way the safety was playing up toward the line of scrimmage shows you what they think of the offense's passing game not a lot of respect for [Applause] it he clanks it off the upright no good not a very good attempt there for the senior kicker this guy needs to go back over his mechanics something seems to be off in his footwork and that's not a good thing for a kicker sometimes it is very hard to correct tries to set up a screen for the wide receiver he's taken down at the 33 the quarterback dumped it off and everyone did a good job of blocking up front doesn't get much better than that here's the option they'll wrestle him down in the back field the option is all about timing and on that play the timing was just off that's going to happen sometime we've got a second and 14 ball on their own 29 as a man he'll lose big yards they're stopped for a 5yd loss this defense is fast enough that they can create negative yards on completed passes so the offense might want to consider that next time they try that play Third and long ball on the 24 Looking to throw throws it deep downfield missed him he let that one go before the defense got to him and it fell incomplete sometimes if you can safely get rid of the ball it's your best option booming kick he makes it out to maybe the 30 yd line nice yardage on the run back the offense will start at the 30 [Applause] caught it but they're going to lose yards he was tackled [Applause] immediately [Music] defense first down first and 10 ball on their own 43 [Applause] they'll throw on first down they bring him down it was his indecision that led to that sack he had time to throw but never pulled the trigger and eventually the pocket just caved in they find themselves in a hole here after that sack it's second and [Applause] long he throws left makes the catch and gets out of bounds [Music] first and 10 ball on the 46 drops back on first down throws to the receiver and he's got it again and they bring him down at the 18 yd line from the 18 yd line first down first down looking to throw decides to slide good gain there on the quarterback scramble you know I really like the decision to tuck it and run here he waited and found no one open so instead of throwing it away he just took it up field for himself we got a second and two ball on the 10 yd line throws in the middle I don't really know what this one's for let's find out well when holding is that obvious the official most definitely is going to bust you from the 19 yd line it's second down and there's a penalty on the play let's see who it's on well if you want to ruin drive just grab a hold of a defender's Jersey second down and a ways to go because of the penalty he's gobbled up in the back field the defense was playing run all the way right there and it paid off for him it's third and long ball in the 30yd line [Applause] back to pass going for it all to the end zone there's a flag on the play on the that'll bring up fourth and long and we should be seeing the kicker here good stand by the defense to keep them out of the End Zone on this drive back to pass and they sack him on fourth down they don't pick up the first down and the ball will change [Applause] hands the offense will take over at the 41 yd line first and 10 and this one's broken up second down 10 yds to go ball on the 41 they'll run the option and they'll get him in the back field personal foul face mask on the defense first down from the 49 yd line first down looks like an option here it was the Umpire that threw the flag and generally that's a holding penalty holding penalties can really kill momentum but sometimes if you don't hold your quarterback can take a pretty good [Applause] shot it's the tail back looks like someone was called for [Applause] holding way too much Jersey there pretty easy call for the officials so first down once again again but a long ways to go after that penalty run left and he's taken down in the back [Applause] field personal foul face mask from the defense first down from their own 45 yd line first down lets it Fly catches it to the 20 down the sideline and they finally knock him out at the nyd line I'm not sure the defender even saw that pass it was lobed so high great concentration to haul it in first down defense gets set to defend the short [Applause] field here's the option they bring him down in the back field I think he made a late read of the defense there quarterback needs to be much more decisive with his option [Applause] reads it's the tailb up the middle for a nice game this is from the 5 yd line it's third and goal he drops back decides to take it himself and he's got it touchdown what a touchdown he didn't see anyone open so he just took it in himself this quarterback is fearless and the defense needs to either spy him or walk the safeties up when they've got the ball down near the goal line and the point after is no good it was a five playay 65 yd drive and they put six points on the board after missing the extra point so our score 22 19 Minnesota lines up for the kickoff excellent kick and it's sails out of the end zone for a Touchback they'll go to work at the 20yd line and he's tackled at the 22 person B mask on the [Music] defense first down from their own 37 yd line first down tackle at the 4 six it's second down now and they're just a few feet away from that first down [Applause] marker he drops back pulls it in and that's a first down and down he goes at the 48 yd line first down 10 to go ball in the 48 he gets another carry gets out to around the 38 the quarterback showed pass for a second then handed it to the back and he was able to get 10 yards on the carry from the 38 yd line Second down they'll go with the option he makes it to the 38 yd line you know it looked to me like he should have made the pitch but he kept it instead and wound up going backwards run left side gets to about the 37 yd line you love having this kind of weapon you already know what kind of damage he can cause in the passing game and here you can see what he can do when you hand the ball off to [Applause] him the junior makes the catch he got a lot of Jersey on that play not too much argument about this calling the well when holding is that obvious the official most definitely is going to bust you first down look at to throw bed away that was what I'd call a power play in pass defense he made Solid contact and forced the incompletion back to pass slings it out there incomplete accuracy is such a VI part of being a quarterback you've got to have an ability to lay the ball right into your guys [Applause] hands he's looking to pass and they bring him down at the 5 yd line just a phenomenal first half for the passing game he's aass 300 yds this has been an absolute shredding of this poor secondary they know they can do better than this and they need to start soon I don't think the play developed the way it was supposed to and the net result is a loss caught open field touchdown North Carolina that makes it three touchdown passes this half defense better make some adjustments and they need to make them now because this passing attack is making a highlight film right now [Music] he makes the pat a nice 10 playay 78 yd drive and it's good for seven points the score now 29 19 North Carolina to kick this one off nice kick plenty of distance and they can forget about returning this one this drive will start at the 20yd line it's first and 10 they go to the ground game he takes it right side for a good [Applause] game we've got a second and five ball on the 25 yd line hand off and he's met in the back field well we played a half of football and our score is UNC 29 Minnesota 19 [Music] North Carolina is lining up to get this second half started he got all of that one and they can forget about returning this one for Minnesota they stayed fairly close in that first half but they need to really focus here and try to make it a one possession game here's more from Aaron Andrews that's right Brad the coach was happy with some things but he said we have to play with more discipline as long as we don't give them extra chances we've got a shot we have to maintain our focus and make a few big plays on offense and for North Carolina their run defense was suffocating and they hope to see that continue here in the second half back up to you Brad they scored a touchdown three times let's see if this drive results in another one the senior makes the catch I don't really know what this one's for let's find [Applause] out that penalty will move him back a bit yeah with so many young guys out there it's bound to happen occasionally straight up the middle and he'll lose yardage personal foul face mask from the [Applause] defense first down first and 10 ball in the 22 and they'll run him again this flag came from the Umpire and that means this is probably holding holding on the holding penalties can really kill momentum but sometimes if you don't hold your quarterback can take a pretty good shot they'll run it a little laundry on the field and we'll find out who's it ising on the still first down first and long now after the [Applause] penalty and they got to him before he could get back to the line loss of a yard not much going on there those kind of plays will not work against this defense you can be sure of that [Applause] taken down as he works the left for a nice game personal foul face mask from the defense first down it's first and 10 ball on the 24 yd line to the right and tackled immediately couple of yards there by the tailback on the counter from their own 26 yd line Second down got him on the screen play they'll bring him down at the 32 six yds that time on the pass play Simple bubble screen here the receiver he did a pretty good job of picking up some yardage before he went down [Applause] they go with the option they got to him and he did not get the first down person foul defense oh man they've got to be frustrated I'm sure they were ready to get off the field and now they've just handed the offense a whole new set of downs here's the option they'll bring him down for a loss on the play Just nowhere for the ball carrier to go as the linebacker met him in the back field boy what great play recognition by this linebacker he saw the Run was coming and he just shot through the Gap and made a great tackle try to set up a little screen gets it to his tail back and he's taken down at the 47 yd line the man defense proves to be too tough against the screen that was an excellent job by the Defenders they fought off their blocks and found the ball before the play had a chance to develop fires it out to the tight end and he's got the [Applause] first here's play number 10 on the drive first down [Music] they'll throw on first down and they make the stop at the 25 yd line so the scramble goes for nine [Applause] yds it's second down one yd to go and this is the 11th play of the current Drive he makes it out to maybe the 23 yd line [Music] defense it's first down on the 11 going in little handoff they'll drop him for a loss really good play here and run support by the linebacker the big guys up front took away the running lanes and he was able to get through for a loss gets the ball here and brought down in the back field the halfback just couldn't get back to the line of scrimmage loss of one they line up for another third down and they've had no problem converting their first [Applause] two drops back to pass here's the pass broken up I thought they did a good job of reading the play and positioning themselves well to break up the pass they're going to go for the easy three here this will be a 30yd field goal attempt and this is no good he didn't have the leg for it and that's just a bit of bad luck there for the junior kicker this guy needs to go back over his mechanics something seems to be off in his footwork and that's not a good thing for a kicker sometimes it is very hard to correct runs left and quickly taken down personal foul face Mas on the [Music] defense first down first and 10 ball on their own 38 here's the Gib nice run [Applause] there they're about four yds away here on second down gets to about the 44 yd line the running back gets a yard maybe [Applause] less from their own 44 yd line it's third down he's looking to pass throws a strike over the middle I don't really know what this one four let's find [Applause] out it'll be third down again after that penalty yeah now they have more yards to pick up for the first [Applause] down he drops back got a receiver and he dropped it iner on the fourth down and they're ready to punt this one away booming kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback the offense will take over at the 20yd line we've got a first and 10 here's a run tackled after a decent run up the gut the delayed handoff picks up about six yds there from their own 26 yd line Second down incomplete and that wasn't the greatest pass in the world well I don't know how anybody can throw a great pass while getting drilled like [Applause] that he drops back decides to slide to be successful you've got to be able to come through on third down and that's just what they did with that big [Music] run first and 10 ball on the 38 yd line and they got him for a loss and the defense just swarmed over him on that one yeah they were able to penetrate the offensive line and get to the running back before that play even had a chance nice play fake slides down and he just slid down to avoid the contact there you know Brad sometimes a quarterback's got to get down low to protect himself but in this case try to show some guts break a tackle and get down field look for the first down back to pass passes and it's almost picked off so fourth down coming up and give credit to the defense there they played very disciplined and were able to break up the pass and this one is a beauty this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback this has been an excellent day passing for this young man oh he's obviously come in here with a plan he knows what he wants to do and he's just getting the job done the thing that stands out to me is the decision making when you can have a quarterback make these kind of decisions deliver the ball quickly and accurately you know you're going to have a great day offensively his performance and the rest of the teams for that matter has him in position for a win they'll take over at the 20 we've got a first and 10 [Applause] throws out to the back and he can't hold on to it I'm not so sure he may looking to throw complete he's got room at the 40 and they tackle him at the 32 personal foul face mask on the defense still first down now it's first and 10 after the big pass play swings it left he's got his fullback they'll bring him down at the 13 yd line so they get about four yards from playaction second and six ball on the 13 yd line back to pass throwing right it's broken up well-designed route but tip your cap to the safety for making a real heads up play with the deflection back to pass and they bring him down for a sack on the play The Blitz worked on that play as they got to the quarterback well the linebacker going to get credit here for the sack but that was outstanding coverage downfield the quarterback didn't have any options downfield giving the linebacker time to make the [Music] play so the kicking team is on the field they'll try for three the holders on the 26 this will be about a 36- y he get gets it up and it falls short no good so the kick is unsuccessful and this defense couldn't be any happier so our count is still North Carolina 29 Minnesota 19 they'll take over at the 20 we've got a first and 10 they'll throw on first down tackle at the 31 he made a real nice play on that one I'll tell you what in today's game you have to have the ability to run the football give the quarterback a lot of credit he made a great play and really gave his team a [Music] [Applause] boost from their own 31 ydd line first down they'll wrestle him down in the back field the D line did a good job of nullifying out the blocks up front and that allowed the linebacker to roam free and make the tackle in the back field hands off and not much room there as they try to work the left side maybe a yard on the Run by the tail back from their own 29 yd line third [Applause] down they give it to the halfback and he's tackled right away they'll be short of the first down after that unsuccessful running play nice job here by the defense of holding firm and forcing a fourth down oh excellent punt he's to the 20 there's a flag on the [Applause] play way way too much Jersey there pretty easy call for the officials they line up at the 13 It's first down makes it out to maybe the 13 yd line person foul face mask from the defense first down from their own 28 yd line first down he makes it to the 28 yd line person foul B mask from defense first down it's first and 10 and they continue to work the ball down field [Applause] he makes it out to maybe the 46 yd line three yd gain by the halfback on the counter play from their own 46 yd line Second down drops to throw no protection they got in there in a hurry there's sack number four well he's being forced to make really quick decisions cuz he doesn't have any time to throw the ball that's going to lead to turnovers third down and they need to get it inside the [Applause] 47 looking to throw it's caught touchdown huge play he's had a good game snaring passes for 100 yards well he's such a big Target with good speed and that's what makes him a dangerous part of this offense and he missed it he missed the extra point so a short three play 86 yd drive and they put six points on the board after missing the extra point so our score 35 19 North Carolina ready to kick this one off nice kick plenty of distance and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback they'll set set up shot at the 20 yd [Applause] line right side with the option and he's stopped behind the line I'm not even sure the ball carrier saw the corner coming for him that happened so fast he never had a chance to make a move second down and 14 ball in the 16 drops back to [Applause] passe little sluggish on that series I'm curious to see if they pick things up when they get the ball back fourth down here comes the punter looking to boot this one away oh excellent punt got the corner flag on the play Let's let's see what it is clipping on the receiving team well that was a great Punt and there was even better coverage on the return throw falling back and got his man a pick up of four on the play he took what the defense gave him that time which is okay it keeps the yards to go a little bit more manageable second down and seven coming up here ball on their own 43 and down he goes right around the 50 the pass is complete for seven yds and that'll be a first down nice protection a good pass and even a better catch he can't ask for much more than that he makes it field and pick up another valuable first down they go with the option they'll knock him down for a loss the penetration by the defense was so good on that play that it didn't matter who the ball carrier was anyone would have been brought down for a loss it's second down now and 14 to go the this is the eighth play of this drive here's a run gets out to around the [Applause] 12 personal foul face mask on the defense first down North Carolina is about to extend the lead to three scores here's a counter losing yards if you're the running back here you've got to get up dust yourself off and get set for the next play here's the option he makes it to the 6yd line personal foul face mask on the defense first down North Carolina trying to go up by three scores they've got their goal line sets on the field this might be a good time for play action here's the fullback touchdown nice time to use the fullback there I've always liked when teams mix it up and give the fullback the ball in goal line situations if the big Bruiser can't get you a couple of yards you don't deserve to get in I think it goes without saying that that was a very well-deserved score and he TS on the extra point it was an eight playay 46- yd drive and they add seven points to the scoreboard so our score 42 19 North Carolina to kick this one off nice kick plenty of distance and they can forget about returning this one they'll take over at the 20 he got a lot of Jersey on that play not too much argument about this calling on that penalty will move him back a bit yeah with so many young guys out there it's bound to happen occasionally they bring him down in the back field loss of one there for the halfback second and long ball on the nyd line they'll keep it on the ground again makes it to the [Applause] 21 it's third down nine to go ball on the 21 he drops back can't ask for much more than a three and out great job defense so that brings us to the end of the quarter and at the end of three our score UNC 42 Minnesota [Music] 19 fourth down and they're ready to punt this one away he gets it away away and this is a really nice punt he Fields the punt at the 20 and he makes it out to about the 34 yd line he showed a good burst there they'll get the ball here at the 34 makes the first down catch tackle made right around the 50 there you go good good read by the quarterback to give the offense a new set of downs if the defense wants to line up and man work that slant route until they stop it gets to about the 47 yd line personal foul face mask on the defense first down from the 32 yd line first down on the Run makes it out to about the 20 you love having this kind of weapon you already know what kind of damage he can cause in the passing game and here you can see what he can do when you hand the ball off to him first down 10 to go ball in the yard line he drops back from the 20 yd line it's second down it's complete and he's tackled right [Applause] away personal foul face mask from the [Music] defense first down they're at the seven it's first down they go to the back and he's in immediately in the back field person foul Bas maskk on the defense first down first down and they've got their eyes on that goal line they come out in a goal line set tackle at the three yd line first the foul mask on the defense first down first and goal from the one expect to see something straight up the middle they put everyone up on the line caught end zone for the touchdown and there's touchdown number five for this quarterback simply an unbelievable display of passing that we've seen today [Music] he makes the pat a Fourplay 53 yard drive and they come away with seven points the score now 49 19 North Carolina to kick he got all of that one no chance for a return it'll come out to the 20 they'll get the ball here at the [Applause] 20 first down looking to throw and they got it the blitz was the call but the D lineman was the one who made his way to the quarterback and he showed great quickness getting off the line into the back field this guy can move for a big [Applause] fella it's second down 12 to go ball on the 18 yd line he drops back and they bring him down at the 22 this quarterback doesn't seem to be having any trouble with the zone Zone does he he recognized the receiver was behind the coverage and he found him with a perfect strike that's nice passing for a first down passes left gets it out to the halfback he's tackled at the 22 yd line and the screen pass goes nowhere second down 10 yds to go ball in the 22 gives it off nice run to the left there third and five coming up ball in the 17 drops back to PS he's wrapped up for the sack they simply have too much speed for this offensive line they're just too quick off the ball [Music] and it's the offense that takes the field on fourth down he drops back this one's going deep to the end zone they got to the quarterback a little late there personal foul the pass so with that penalty they'll move the chains man that is frustrating for a defense when you think you've made a stop and then a flag gives him a first down makes a catch and he's got nowhere to go not a lot on that one once the wide receiver made the catch he just kind of ran out of real estate there was nowhere for him to go they'll go with the Run once again what a play and that is first and [Applause] goal we're at Play number nine of this current Drive they come out in a goal line set Dives for extra yardage picked up a yard of anything on that run great play by the senior linebacker to step up in traffic and make that tackle 10th play of the drive they're crowding that line of scrimmage throw complete touchdown and that makes it three scoring tosses for him what I'm noticing more and more about this guy is is he's very patient with the ball and it's resulting in some nice scores just like we've seen today what's more amazing than anything else is that these guys are still [Music] losing and he TS on the extra point a nine playay 80 yd drive and it's good for seven points the score now 49 [Applause] [Music] 26 Minnesota get set to kick this one away and this is just a booming kick and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback they'll take over at the 20 yd line try to run it inside and he's hammered he plows ahead for a two- yd gain if it's any consolation he did pick up some positive yards but I doubt that's enough to make him forget the hit that he just took back to pass he gets sacked on the play third down 12 yds to go ball on the [Applause] 18 he's looking to pass he Chucks it downfield fourth down the punt team is on the field looking to kick this one away booming kick and there's a penalty on the play let's see who it's on on the way too much Jersey there pretty easy call for the officials from their own 29 yd line first [Applause] down it's knocked away incomplete it looked like the quarterback thought he had an open receiver there but I don't think he saw the linebacker so it's second and 10 ball on the 29 yd line he makes it out to maybe the third 30 yd line so the delayed handoff gets maybe a yard third down nine to go ball on the 30 yd line he's looking to pass there's a flag down and it looks like this one's coming back they'll line up for another third down play because of the penalty well here you're in a third down situation and then someone makes a mental mistake it makes your blood boil if you're a coach drops back to pass I don't think they necessarily have to go for it here on fourth down there's no doubt time is becoming a factor fourth down the punter comes on the field getting ready to send one off he really got a hold of that one room around the corner he Fields a at the 20 tackle at the 32 for Minnesota they've been getting into the back field quite a bit Brad right now what I'm seeing is just great speed by this defensive line they're putting a lot of pressure on the quarterback because of their athletic ability to get by the offensive lineman even with all the pass protection issues they still have the [Music] lead they'll go to work at the 32 yd line first down 10 to go and he carries the ball for a nice [Applause] game from their own 36 yd line Second down he drops back and down he goes at the 43 personal foul face mask on the defense still first down from the 42 yd line first down they try him again and this time they've got him in the back field a loss on that one as he couldn't get past those big linemen you got that right they sacrificed their bodies in there and stuffed [Music] [Applause] him they'll bring him down at the 42 Third Down and they need to get it down to the [Applause] 32 drops back to [Applause] pass fourth down here comes the punter looking to boot this one away sometimes it's not the huge distance but Precision that you need from your punter nicely done from their own eight yd line first down looking to throw he's tackled in the open field and they may need to hurry here well you'd think so but there doesn't seem to be much urgency on the field right now second down at seven coming up here ball on their own 12 makes it to the 12 yd line that misdirection play gets maybe a yard at the most they line up at the 12 it's third down wide receiver screen play brought down at the 16 he made the catch but he didn't get the first down yeah right now the way this defense is swarming there's just no room for him to get up field for the first down they get this one off and it's a beauty this one might be coming back folks let's check out the penalty clipping on the receiving team made a few guys miss on his way to a quality return first and 10 ball on the 38 yd line back to pass swatted away [Applause] from their own 38 yd line Second down the wide receiver wasn't able to hang on well you talk about a solid hit this guy is a true Enforcer from their own 38 yd line it's third down pressure got to him and he put it on the ground and look at the big guy go and a huge touchdown play but always makes you nervous anytime a Defender tries to pick up a fumble and run with it instead of just falling on it but man did it work out for him here for a big time play in the score [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so the kicker going to stay on the sidelines these guys will try for a two-point conversion they're crowding that line of scrimmage they don't get it nice job here to step up and hold on the two-point attempt knowing how critical it was Minnesota is lining up to kick this one off excellent kick and they can forget about returning this one they'll take over at the [Applause] 20 I don't really know what this one's for let's find out way too much Jersey there pretty easy call for the officials so the penalty puts him back for a first and [Music] long hands it off flags are down and this one might be on the offense on the still first down so first down once again but a long ways to go after that penalty but hold on we got a penalty on the play let's check it out holding on the still first it's first down and a lot tackle at the four personal foul face mask on the defense first down so it's first and 10 once again and they continue to March down the field inside give Hello nice to meet you and the halfbacks got nowhere to go well those are the kind of hits that'll take some miles off a ball carrier a little toss across the middle there's a very impressive open field tackle about three yds that time on the screen from their own 20 three yd line third [Applause] down they'll give it off here and he's tackled at the 38 yd line and again they come away with a first down get the keys out these guys are on a drive this offense has just found a perfect Rhythm and the defense just hasn't been able to figure out a way to disrupt it first down 10 to go ball on their own [Applause] 38 makes it out to maybe the 40 yd line person foul mask on the [Music] defense first down from the 45 yd line first down he gets another carry nice run there nice gain of around seven yards on that delay second down and they're going to need about three yards to pick up the first down back to pass fires incomplete on the play thir third here's third and three ball on the 38 yd line hand off and he won't make it and that won't be enough for the first down great job here by the defense in shutting down the Run that's a real boost for this [Music] team it's fourth down they come out in a punt formation [Applause] oh excellent Punt and it goes out of the end zone for the [Applause] Touchback they'll start this drive at the 20 yd line first down 10 to go and down he goes at the 31 he looks to throw on first down throws out and threw his [Applause] hands it's second and 10 ball on their own 31 back to pass and he's sacked can this offense do anything to slow down this pass rush I think they need to make some adjustments with their pass protection maybe allow the backs to stay in the block because the quarterback is getting pounded back [Applause] there from their own 28 yd line third down caught over the middle tackle at the 34 that screen gets around six he executed the screen play well here by getting the ball to the halfback they pick up some yards he's looking to pass he couldn't hang on incomplete when the first down marker is that far away someone's got to step up and make a play on fourth down it just didn't happen for him here you aren't going to convert many fourth Downs against this defense that's a really good stop [Applause] hands it to the back looks like someone was called for [Applause] holding well when holding is that obvious the official most definitely is going to bust you just under three to go in regulation he makes it to the 42 yd line the running back gets two on the [Applause] carry from the 42 yd line it's second down less than two minutes in the fourth quarter here's the handoff and he's taken down for a loss I'll tell you what for a defensive back this kid is a sure tackler and he showed it right there [Applause] he [Applause] gives it off he's tackled at the 40 yd line this a good call by the defensive coordinator he guessed run and when the offense came with it his guys were in position to make the [Music] stop they're trying to pin them deep with a solid punt right here booming kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback this drive will start at the 20 we've got a first and 10 and they get nice yardage on that run Minnesota will take a timeout that's their first of the [Applause] half got him in the screen play and he's tackled at the 30yd line he goes over 100 yds in receptions you got to love this quarterback receiver combo talking to these guys before the game they told me they spend about an hour after every practice perfecting the routes it sure shows maybe a yard on the Run by the [Applause] tailback quarterback's going to run it and he's got room to work Dives and he's down [Music] [Music] and so that's going to do it our final score in this one UNC 49 Minnesota 32 let's get Kirk herb Street's final thoughts on this one Herby what do you got for us pretty comfortable win right about what we expected this was a strong effort North Carolina earned themselves a quality win these guys weren't necessarily a pushover and they played a pretty good game but the better team won well this young
