[Music] if you haven't been paying attention it's only on Roku so everybody's going to have to stream it there's no Sports nla Broadcast you will be able to I guess listen to it on the radio if that's what you prefer to do uh Jose Moda is going to be part of the broadcast team and then it's Steve uh I don't want to butcher his last name B aramu ber the Diamondbacks play byplay guy do either one of you guys capable of pronouncing it I know who it is okay no worries uh and Jody Jackson the Diamondbacks reporter is going to be on the uh broadcast Blake is there it's Roku now this season it was peacock before right is there's there any sort of upside to uh MLB having these games on Sundays upside I don't know I think anytime you make fans download a new app or go somewhere else to watch a game it's bad for fans it's good for MLB's wallet but you're hurting the fans in the process I believe it's free on Roku so that's a good thing but you still have to go download an app make an account and do all that so it's a barrier that a lot of people might not be able to get to or just know how to do so makes the game less accessible for fans yeah which is a downside which they clearly do not give a damn about unfortun least it's not blacked out at least it's not blacked out you know with these situations like I really think that they should find a way so like let's let's say let's take this Roku game if you have uh MLB.TV account already first of all the blackout rules are just archaic and ridiculous we we don't need to go into those but for like this situation give Roku a slice of MLB TV and then the customers who have MLB TV allow them to watch the game through MLB TV don't make them go download a whole other thing because Blake's right you're just putting up another barrier for fans that you're trying to attract and it's it's just it's it's silly it's short-term thinking in my opinion they're they're they they got the check now so this is how they're going to do it now regardless of how this affects the fans um you know there's i' I've heard talks about like kind of relooking at the blackout rules and things like that but like they keep throwing up these walls you know every opportunity that they get and they're probably just going to get worse the more uh live sports become the most valuable property on television yeah and if that's a great point that you bring up in terms of Life Sports and general we're seeing this with the NBA they just negotiated a new uh kind of TV streaming rights deal now and you know a Legacy Outlet like Turner uh part of the Warner Brothers Discovery umbrella they're not I mean I know Turner is trying to file a lawsuit and say that they had the rights to match Amazon's deal and they did and the NBA is not honoring it I don't necessarily see that playing out too favorably for them but we've seen the M the excuse me NBA spare like split out kind of a separate streaming package for Amazon for peacock which as I mentioned as we kind of got into this you know peacock did have the MLB uh contract but MLB Anthony as you said is looking uh looking to sort of get a little bit more and the reports were that peacock wasn't going to Pony up and Roku TV did I think the one sort of positive with this you know MLB is streaming on Apple TV for Friday night games they like I mentioned they've been on peacock the one positive with Roku that I will give MLB the not benefit of the doubt but I will give them some credit is that it is going to be free so as much as there is the nuisance of either needing to download the Roku app and we're going to have a guide up for everybody on Dodger boo.com so definitely check that out as you try to find the game uh Sunday afternoon at least it is free you know because it I think it it's always worse you know with Apple TV they've been running promotions where you could get you know free months at a time or if you bought a new device at some point you get that with peacock I think initially you might it might have been free but then you needed to have one of their paid subscriptions to get to access to the MLB G and so that to me is like the biggest when they do stuff like that I'm really like man come on like get out of your own way type thing story of Major League Baseball for decades at this point true Blake you're you're of the streaming age I'm surprised that you're not uh on board with just being able to watch the games online instead of a a TV if there was just one app that worked for all of them I'd be totally behind it but when you have to go to seven different apps to watch games throughout the season it's just too much and I think for a lot of fans in general like not everyone has the capability of doing that whether it's financial reasons on downloading multiple different services and subscribing or you don't have like the product that you need to or you just don't know how to do it like there's a lot of barriers in it so I'm not going to get on board with that I think they should be making baseball as easy to watch for everyone as possible yes and that's how you grow the game you don't do it by locking the games behind some other subscription that you need to go out and get now like if you pay for MLB TV you should get every game it's that easy but they don't do that they uh prefer to make their 17 different TV deals so they can make money from every different provider and it hurts the fans in the end yeah BL I think Blake hits the the the bottom line of this uh very well stop making it harder for your fans to get your product make it easier for them to get your product yeah definitely I mean yeah you there's there's no AR there's no argument for that uh other than like we kind of alluded to there's a there's a monetary aspect from MLB standpoint that unfortunately gets I think prioritized a little bit more so than fan interest or keeping the fans uh kind of in mind but hey like I said you know at least it's going to be free I I'm curious to see how the broadcast is going to be put together I haven't seen any Roku games this year I guess we can knock on wood that this is going to be I think the first and last for the Dodgers at least for this season and for future years uh you know we'll have to see kind of how that unfolds but a reminder Sunday's game is only available on Roku uh Dodger bl.com will'll have a guide up for you guys so after you're done watching this if you're not 100% sure on how to find it definitely head over to our website and we'll sort of hopefully uh walk you through things as easily as possible
