Intro Last night. Whoo. I know preseason my preseason. Yeah, that's not exaggerate. But train Lance didn't have time
to do anything, they put up 0, points:0 points and and now that's their final
preseason game. You going into a season with trade Lance with
Super Bowl aspirations. I'm just on, wondering have we all been? And you know,
Mike, we are big trail and fans on brother from another. He is
the he is the Young quarterback. Is he under 25
quarterback for brother from another Derek Cars? It's very cars back up. Yeah, yeah exactly, yeah. So Are we it is our love for trade,
Lance, kind of kind of throwing us off from looking at the situation as
it is, a precarious situation for San Francisco. Do
you got Super Bowl aspirations and you giving the ball to
train? Lance, and 22. This thing go work. Jimmy Garoppolo Well, Mike, this is why, and it's obvious with Direction
you have to go with Jimmy Garoppolo been. We kept arguing
a while back about the Merit or the logic of retaining Jimmy
Garoppolo after last. And I was like I don't think it should be such
a slam dunk that they move on from Jimmy you know. Maybe they
make them compete or something but obviously that ship has
sailed. But to answer your question where do just hasn't
played football. Like he played a one-year North Dakota state
which is brilliant. The one game in the covid shortened
season and prepare for the draft barely played last
year like he's wrong and and
little things like there was a player I
was in the green room last night with my man, Ryan Pitts that
place that for right there. If we can run that electron that
real again, Ryan Fitzpatrick went crazy in
the green room last night because he was like that
receiver should still be running. It was a completion, Trey Lance but if he places the ball
properly mechanically fundamentally, then that receiver is running.
Look how much will be everyone if
he'll eat if he's properly, he has a lot to learn. At this
position, he has a lot to learn to play
quarterback and he's doing it at the NFL level. Scuse me. And
he's doing it for a team. Like you said Michael, what a Super
Bowl roster. So I think porting out as far as
going to do something in that are accustomed to doing
Amina at the quarterback position,
which is be patient and that's exactly what it is.
That you made a good point when you talk about the fact that
trail and doesn't have a lot of experience. And so that's why I
raised my eyebrows in the beginning. Holly, when you
talked about to go aspirations, I was kind of taken aback a little
bit as I don't know about that. I don't think this is going to
be the season, the ride-along stations will write the rest of the roster may
be, but one Did you hand the keys over the
trail? And and he hasn't had that experience yet. I think
it's just going to take some time for him to understand the
nuances of the offense to understand the pace of the game.
When he's out there playing in the regular season because we could
point to the preseason, all we want about the mistakes being
made and things like that and maybe even some of the
highlights that he's had out there on the field. But once you
get into the regular season and you're playing full game,
speed and guys are playing to get into the playoffs to win a
Super Bowl. It's a totally different story and that's going
to be a big, a huge learning curve for trail and
once he gets into the driver's seat and he's really
leading this 49ers team this
year. Mike, the only thing you know, I
do want to pump the brakes on Mike. And I've said, yes, I've
tried to remind myself this this time last year, I know it's not the same thing, but this time last year Jamar,
Chase couldn't catch. Jamar Chase He could not catch it. I just, I
just I keep saying that to myself. So you set up the top,
you know, it's just preseason. And yes, you can still look at some things and say, all
the kids got a ways to go, but I just want to be careful,
not to declare this, you know, this season of, you know, a transition year maybe gets better quickly. And
as the year goes on, we'll see. That was the peak of
my Jamar Chase criticism right there. I was at, that's right.
Pete, I picked an artist. I was in Cincinnati. I was in
Cincinnati Wednesday. I had Bangles security being like your boy come around
yet. Black. So you know, I'm right here but
I wasn't far away are my Bangles. My Bangles. Last
thing, I'll say last thing. I'll say on. This is your colleague from Amazon,
Richard, Sherman. How about that? Your colleague, Richard,
Sherman common. Yeah, I know I said last night that, you know, ask you what
you're asking, Jimmy Garoppolo to do is akin to there was a
divorce and what are the divorcees brings the new? House into the
house and they're all living in the same house. He said, that's
not fair. Hmm. So that's what they got going on with Jimmy Garoppolo. But I say
okay, since Garoppolo is already
handled that situation, he's been he's been a good
teammate, no distractions, why not do a little pivot and say, okay Jimmy we ain't gonna try and wiggle wiggle cut you like you're going to be the back
up. You'll be the backup Michael Smith to You gotta say that, you gotta
say he's the backup and if this thing is an abject
disaster after three or four games, the backup becomes all yard,
it's not a right, it's not like he goes to a nine plan. Listen
Mike right? It's not realistic but it is
logical and I get where you're coming from. It's not
ridiculous, because like and here's one way to
convince themselves that it could work, but my salary cap standpoint
from an investment standpoint, trail ends on his rookie deal.
So, that's 24 million is just kind of inverted if you will and you're paying your backup,
was taking you to a nephew championship games in the Super
Bowl to the paying him, what you
would normally pay a starter and you know, young guys to my
rookie contract. So from an investment standpoint, it's
not the worst thing. And it's
not the worst idea, given the kind of teammate is,
is it realistic? No, they're not going to go that route. Like
he's gonna get cut, okay? And he probably end up in
Seattle, he won't end up in Cleveland, they love Jacoby
percent, I can say that much. That's Michael Smith. Ladies and
gentlemen, Michael Smith. All right. Jim on shows, catch
up on shows such as brother from another right about Monday. I'm gonna be
in Buffalo on Monday. So I may not be able to see you on
Monday man and y'all talk about this
matter. What the situation, your honor on a serious note, we
just talked about that today. Show y'all hit matter
because my, which, the matter race before know, we
had. Yeah. No, no. We didn't talk about it. We didn't bring
it up. We'll, we'll talk about that next week, as it says there were the
develops, like, we got it. Gotta unpack. It's very cruel
jokes. Yes serious. This is serious.
