welcome back everybody Welcome to the channel I have here a 2013 F-150 and I'm about to perform the transmission downshift recall so if you want to see what we do to reprogram these or to do this recall please stick [Music] around all right you can see it is a 20 excuse me 2014 6 of 14 this one does have the recall in it and we're going to I'm going to go over on the passenger side cuz it's really hot right here and I need some shade so all right I'm logging in right now see it is a 14 F-150 5.0 L yes and I need to get the VIN off of it because I'm going to show you the recall so hang on just a second all right I'm logged into pts Oasis I actually do have the VIN number it's back over here on IDs it picked it up right there so I'm just going to copy that and the reason I'm doing this is because I want to show you what we got to do or what goes on when they perform this recall uh and if you can't see I'm sorry the the glare I am outside so I'm trying to make this as clear as possible for you and this is a subscriber truck all right the 24 s37 sudden transmission downshift all right so we're going to click on that and then I'm going to show you the technical bulletin okay and this is saying go back up all the way up all the way up all right all right it's asking me if there's a 0720 0722 or 0731 or a 1500 stored in the PCM if no proceed to module programming all right so I'm going to look for a 720 22 731 or 1500 so I'm going to come back over here to IDs and I'm going to go up here to this here toolbox and then I'm going to go to self test and then I always do all and now it's going to read continuous memory DTC so what did I say 720 22 31500 anything like that that's uh related to the transmission shift modules or shift control if none of those codes are present then I'm going to reprogram the PCM if any of those codes are present then I have to replace the lead frame then reprogram the PCM but there's also going to be something else I want to show you after I reprogram this thing and uh all right PCM pass nothing in the PCM there's actually nothing anywhere transfer case control module there's there's a uh uh where PCM there it is PCM no dtc's all right so we're going to proceed to reprogram it is so hot out here today that is it is not 87 degrees I'll tell you that right now I'm going to go module programming module reprogramming PCM the ignition switch is on it's going to go through a VIN process 27944 let's go back over here make sure where's my mouse 27944 so that is correct I'm going to hit yes please wait man this glare that didn't really help any current software version 13.08 that is what I have and it's going to change it from this software e3a 12a 650 ABA to e3a 12a 650 ABB yes and it's going to program and it's not on my tester so it's going to locate the files and put them on my computer from the server all accessories are turned off batter's in good condition yes confirm it's saying that there's a multiple memory locations turning ignition switch off hit the check mark turn it back on hit the check mark and now it is doing its thing erase procedure module reprogramming please wait and this is the part that sucks because you now you got to sit here and wait for it to do its thing but after this is done a lot of you have reached out to me and said hey my truck drives weird after I do it or after I had it done it feels like it shifts a whole lot different and it does and that's because it's learning all over again give it a couple hundred miles 50 100 150 mil drive it like you normally would that will relearn how it's shifting and it will go back to normal and I'll show you that where they're supposed to tell you that but they don't so after I get done reprogramming this we're going to go for a drive all right we're almost to the end of it erase procedure in progress module reprogramming hear everything come back on calibration has been loaded and checked date 8312 24 PCM it's been updated to the ABB I'm going to take a picture of that and then text it to her so she has it for her records and we hit a check mark so now I'm going to turn the key off start it all right cool no check engine lights nothing like that 111,000 miles but I do want to exit out of [Music] here and I'm going to go back and do another self test up at this little red toolbox self test all I'm sweating everywhere my light blue shirt is now dark well it was a navy blue shirt now it's really dark Navy says 88 degrees I don't think it's 88 degrees though let's see let me check my weather here real feel 96 yeah that's hot and nothing in the PCM pass and we are going to call that good I'm going to get over to the driver's side and we are going to go for a test drive all right I put it in gear and it kind of did bump a little bit but but we're going to go for a drive I had to get some AC going man it's hot and we're going to see if it shifts any different right now it just drives fine 11,551 we'll go this way there was a little Buck there but now it is relearning how to drive so that is how the recall is performed if you do not have to have the lead frame installed in the transmission if you do they're going to replace that then reprogram the transmission if none of those codes are present you're going to reprogram it just like I did and then you're going to go for a drive now yes I should have showed you on the screen um I will actually go back and pull that back up so you can see it uh on PTS Oasis where it tells you to warn the customer that it may shift funny for a little bit because it's trying to relearn so I will show you that I'm going to finish driving this make sure everything's good to go and then I'll show you that on PTS all right almost done with a test drive I'm cold now because my shirt is wet from sweat and the AC is on full blast sucks anyway stop complaining it could be worse right so I'm almost back almost done with the test drive and we're going to go look and I'm going to show you on PTS Oasis on the technical info after they do the reprogramming where it says that it may shift funny this one's doing great not too bad there was a little bit of a bump there coming from Park and a couple hesitant shifts nothing major but that's smoothed out after this test drive so and I went about 13 miles so uh down shift's great no bumps there from a stop no bumps on those shifts either so let me go inside and we'll pull out the laptop again and I will show you where it says to show the customer all right see right here weo the PCM with 13.05 or higher you saw I had 13.08 checking the clear dtcs advise the customer that this vehicle is equipped with an Adaptive transmission shift strategy which allows the vehicle computer to learn transmission unique parameters and improve shift quality when the adapter learn strategy is reset the computer will begin a relearning process this relearning process may result in firmer than normal upshifts and downshifts for several days so don't be alarmed if yours is making kind of weird shifting just ride it out for a few days all right so there you have it the recall for the transmission sudden downshift complete programmed it I've already called her she is going on her way to come get it and I appreciate you guys checking out the video and seeing as how was how that is done if you don't
